I noticed after the latest V26.0 update this issue kept popping up. Case in point, after I've imported my illustrations into AE, random layers seem to disappear even though they are still there in the illustrator file. As you can glimpse from the thumbnail the head of the character is still there but disappears in the AE comp.The solution is for me to open the illustrator file, click save again and wait for the link to update in AE. Trouble is random layers from other illustrations would again disappear every time I open my AE file again to start my animation. Another issue is that the blend mode from illustrator is not pulling through to AE, for example the neck shadow is multiply 40% but in AE it’ll just be Normal 100%. Then randomly it’ll correct itself or reset every time I restart my AE.The obvious solution is to create shape in AE but I have textures in my illustrations and it’ll be chaotic to redo the illustration just for 4 seconds of animation.Hope there’ll be a patch soon for

Hi everyone, ever since I updated AE to version 26.0.0 I have experienced render times as much as ten times slower than it used to be in version 25.x.x. For now, I have rolled back installation to a 25 version, but I would very much like to keep up with the versions, including all new features.I read somewhere that I'm not the only one bumping into this problem.What can I do to solve it? To be clear: I can create a project in v 2026 and it renders terribly slow; when I save it as 25.x version and then switch to AE v2025 everything works at proper render times.Will there be an update for v 2026 that solves this problem?

In past versions of After Effects, I have been able to click on the missing footage, hit the return key to make the name editable, type command c to copy the name of missing footage and paste that into the search bar. This made locating and relinking footage very simple. That feature seems to have gone away in the past year or so. It would be great to get that back again. Are there any other discussions on this? Or is there something in the preferences that I'm missing?

With Cinema4d, we can render EXR sequences containing both ‘Beauty’ (rgba-image) and AOV-channels. But unfortunately, it is not possible to interpret the image-part with the correct color space ( ACEScg Working Space). 

I’m trying to use the Config Variable font from Adobe Fonts in After Effects, but it doesn’t appear in the font list. It works fine in Photoshop and Illustrator. I'm using a macbook pro.  I’ve tried the following troubleshooting steps with no success:•Restarted AE and Creative Cloud•Checked Creative Cloud font sync•Cleared AE font cache (AdobeFnt.lst)•Installed the font locally (both OTF and TTF from a third-party source)•Tested on an older AE version Still, the font refuses to show up in After Effects. I’m trying to add a feature to my panels so they can be closed using the ESC key. The code below is just a basic test. When I run it and press ESC, it works the first few times. However, after about 5 to 10 presses, I start getting the attached error.I’ve tried several workarounds, including using scheduled tasks, but the error always shows up after a while. Hi !I created a Premier Pro effect plugin using the After Effects C++ SDK. The effect moves an image randomly. In order to achieve this, I used the SDK’s subpixel_sample function, very similarly to the shifter exemple provided within the SDK. Badly. The mouse cursor moves at real speed but the interaction on the actual layers is extremely slow. Every time I use extractor on an EXR sequence AE will crash on re-opening said project. My work around is to disabble the effect, delete it from all layers, then re-open the project enable it again, restart again, then re-aply extractoR at which point it will work until I close the project and re-open it. I have seen many people complain about this exact issue, and it happens regaurdless of the footage I use. So it's not that or some other effect. I have multiple projects that require EXRs at the moment and it happens on all of them. I have tried all the recomended solutions updateding drivers, disabling multi-frame rendering, clearing all cache and media files, updating AE/Encodeer updating windwos etc. Does anyone have a propor solution for this? AE 25.5Windows 11 

Issue - Shape Layer with Transform Effect using layer mask as effect mask – adjusting keyframes crashes AE. Steps to reproduce - Add a mask to a shape layer (created by Overlord in my case) using Layer>Mask>New Mask, add a Transform Effect, add position keyframes so the contents of the Shape layer are outside the mask and animate to the original position. Use the mask as an Effect mask. Notice that mask is not masking on first frame but otherwise appears to animate into position. Adjust first position keyframe to crash After Effects. Expected result - Shape layer contents should move via the Transform Effect. Actual result -  After Effects crashes. Hi Adobe, after updated to After Effect V.26, one of my keyboard shortcut has been broken by the latest Parametric Mesh feature.I’ve customized my “Add to Render Queue” button to "Shift + D” to my workflow, but the latest Parametric Mesh uses this shortcut. I tried to remap the Parametric Mesh to “Shift + option + D” but it keeps overiding and remapping it back to “Shift + D”. I have no choice but to remap my own shortcut for the time being, much to the detriment of my own productivity.This is extremely annoying and I would appreciate a fix as soon as possible, thank you for your attention to this matter!

I’m experiencing a recurring crash issue in After Effects that I have not been able to resolve, despite trying a wide range of solutions.After I open a project, After Effects crashes consistently within 5–7 minutes, or sometimes immediately upon launching the project, sometimes when I tried to render. I'm having some massive issues with Cineware in After Effects 2025 (25.3.2). Haven't submitted a ticket for Maxon yet because I think it's something wrong on my end, but can't figure it out. Whenever I import even the most basic .c4d scene file into AE (made not only with Cinema 2025.3.2 but with any 2025 Cinema version) I'm unable to open it into a comp with crashing. If I drag the .c4d file to the button to create a new comp, it'll simply crash with this following last log message: <######> <BEE_MiscTasks> <5> Set Artisan Task: Classic 3DIf instead I try right-clicking the .c4d file and select New Comp from Selection, I get the following error message first: "After Effects error: Error during event PF_Cmd_EVENT Code (PF_Err_INTERNAL_STRUCT_DAMAGED) : GlobalData image was nullptr during DrawEvent(512) ( 25 :: 101 )"I've reset preferences, uninstalled, reinstalled etc etc. And not only that, I'm getting this exact same error across multiple machines:2022 Mac Studio /

Using a fresh install of AE 25.3.2 (build 2) i.e no previous versions ever installed on this machine. AE is fine until I resize any of the windows (libraries for example). After updating After Effects from 25.6.4 to 26.0 - there is really undesirable and stopper bug with exporting shapes with color gradients through Bodymovin plugin. 

Every time I try to import a file from adobe animate in to After effects 2024-2025 it remains stuck at 0 then displays the error message "an error occurred while importing this file . Please try again". I have tried every troubleshooting method possible and spoken to Adobe customer service, no luck. Please help.  

Creating a new ticket for this issue:Started a dialogue with @JohnColombo17100380 about how the 24.0 After Effects no longer read as a window by time tracking software like Timely. I've emailed Timely about the issue and they have confirmed it's a bug on the Adobe side. Hi, I am using workflow DaVinci Resolve (for edit) -> XML -> AAE (for VFX) for years. Today, wanted to import XML timeline to AAE again, but nothing happened. Tried close all panels, but still XML import is not working, nothing happens. When I try to drag&drop it, the red icon appears next to the cursor. I was using it normally for years, I don't know what happened. I have newest update of AAE 25.2.2 (Build 2), BUT weird thing is, that it doesn't work even in older CC2024 version. That probably means that something happened with my system? Is there some shared .XML plugin for import XML to AAE, that would stop working? Or anything? Thanks for suggestions.Dave

Every time I select a text layer in After Effects using the monitor, a message box pops up with the following error:After Effects error: having to focus on ourselves(76 :: 59)When I click OK, the cursor jumps back to the beginning of the text instead of staying where I clicked to edit it.It’s a small bug, but when it happens 200 times a day, it gets pretty annoying.

Double-clicking on a composition does not open it in the project window.I’s the same issue on the composition window. It is impossible to access the menu by left-clicking on a composition in the project window.
