Double-clicking on a composition does not open it in the project window.I’s the same issue on the composition window. It is impossible to access the menu by left-clicking on a composition in the project window.

Attaching a screen record showing this bug. For some reason AE is adding random opacity knots to my shape layer gradient fills. This happens regardless of whether the gradient has keyframes set or not. This is on AE 26.0 on macOS Tahoe 26.2

I have a comp size solid that I have a layer style stroke on and. when I change the Advanced Blending it punches through all layers below as if it was on Stencil Alpha. And oddly enough trying Stencil Alpha or Silhouette Alpha changes nothing. But if I move the layer 1 pixel it operates as expected. Also if I draw a mask on it. So my workaround right now is to have a mask that is bigger than the layer.

I'm on Windows, using a UHD 4K monitor and running 175% display scaling.After Effects scales the UI correctly, but the performance of the Timeline panel especially is atrocious. Merely trying to scrub the timeline is very laggy. There are also visual glitches, like vertical black lines, and the playhead not redrawing correctly when using J & K to move between keyframes (the playhead gets disconnected from the line in a redraw glitch). Even doing a RAM preview on a fully cached timeline causes frame drops.If I use the Windows high DPI settings dialog to override the scaling behavior (set scaling to be performed by System), all these performance and glitch issues go away. Scrubbing the timeline and resizing panels is smooth, and no visual glitches appear. I have had this before in earlier AE versions, but it's back, or still here. About one third of my keystrokes are not registering. It's not the keyboard, all other apps work fine. Just typing to rename a layer will ignore some of the letters, copy-past via keyboard is totally unpredictable because a lot of the times the copy or paste keystrokes are not registered. Changing tools, entering numbers, anything that uses the keyboard is becoming unpredictable because a lot of the keystrokes are just ignored. Sometimes I have to press a key several times (like 4 or 5 times) before it’s registered. Also there sometimes is a lag before a keystroke is registered, which is extra super annoying, having to press 5 times, and ending up with 2 times the keystroke with a delay.This is becoming unworkable, I fear my keyboard will not survive my frustration…I’m using a Mac Studio Ultra with 128GB RAM, macOS 12.6.2, AE 23.1It wasn’t doing this before, nothing was changed or updated in my setup.Only thin

After the latest update the horizontal scrollbar at the bottom of the timeline is bugged.As soon as you adjust the length of a compostion, the scrollbar glitches out and you can no longer scroll to the end of the composition. Only by adjusting the zoom level of the timeline does the scrollbar then somehow fix itself. Hi everyone, I have been having this issue with after effects that has confused my professors and I. I will be editing on the app and eventually the preview panel will freeze. Not only on the frame but when I try to start the preview it will go forward a frame and stop. Even when I switch to a different composition it will only show that frame and nothing else. When I do try to edit anyways I can’t see the edits I am making but when I come back to the project they are still there. On top of this I tried starting a completely new project without restarting after effects and even though the composition is blank it still shows the frame from my previous project. I purged my cache, restarted after effects and my computer, reset preferences, and tried uninstalling and reinstalling the current version along with the one directly prior, I also have tried changing my drivers and that hasn’t worked. I have brought a new laptop, new MSI Stealth A16 - 5090 RTX, AMD Ryzen 9hx. For some reason when using after effects for just a minuet, the compositon will free, cant zoom, nothing updates. but the app contiunes working, I can add layers, add effects, delete, import.. but the compsiton freezes and I can see the zoom going up and down but nothing in the viewport changes, add new solid, nothing changes in the viewport.  After effects 2025 25.3.2Windows I have tried all the recommendations:Clearing cacheram allocation disable gpu accelerationupdating driversvideo rending and effects multiframe rendering off Its a brand new laptop, any ideas? 

When setting Loop to a value greater than 2 under Interpret Footage > Other Options, it appears that the cache does not behave correctly from the second loop onward.If I duplicate the same footage as multiple layers in a composition and place them sequentially, the timeline clearly shows that the second and subsequent layers are cached as expected.However, when using the Loop option, the footage seems to be treated as one very long single clip, and it appears that playback triggers reloading even in the second and subsequent loops.This feature is very useful for cases such as overlay textures, so I would like the cache to work correctly when looping footage via Interpret Footage.Duplicate layersLoop 100 

After installing AE 2026. The application opens but then freezes. ALL UI panels present has white and the dark mode gradually appears. When any click is attempted the application freezes. Requiring a re-boot to clear. I’m running a Yoga 9i Pro with an RTX 4070 Laptop GPU. Issue - filling up ram, with a preview render, never releases that ram, causes the application to generally not work.  Steps to reproduce - I use a plugin, element 3d, and preview render a long comp, that fills the ram cache, then change the comp and try to work with it. AE refuses to render anything.  Expected result - AE clears up ram, prioritizes what it is supposed to be doing. Actual result -  preview is BLACK. AE does not render anything. eventually it will crash, as the app uses more and more ram. Hoje eu estava editando um video no After Effects, e aconteceu o seguinte erro: "Aviso do After Effects: formato incorreto ou ilegível", isso se deu depois que eu reiniciei o computador para a atualização do Windows Update, após esse erro, tentei restaurar o computador para um horário antes da atualização! Assim fiz, e o problema ainda persistiu, não sei mais o que fazer, já olhei diversos videos no youtube e não tem nenhuma solução para esse tipo de problema, alguém poderia comentar a respeito, se tem como recuperar o arquivo ou eu posso abandonar?!

After effect version 25.4.0 After importing a sequence of exr images that were used as a black and white mask for rotoscoping, the silhouette was offset or cut off completely. After refreshing the composition and sequence, these offsets randomly appear in other places. I checked in the program "nuke" and there was no problem with these exr.

Hi, Scince updating to the latest version  25.3.2 and something weird happened. I re named a file and it went missing of course. So I re linked it and saved the Ae files.But every single time I open the Ae file, I keep getting the same missing files msg and I have to re link it EVERY SIGNLE TIME. I tried saving a new file version but it's the same. I just installed a fresh windows 11 today and got the same thing!! Help please

Every time I work on a mdeium to large project, and I want to import one of my templates to speed up some comps, after effects preview panel goes black, and will not work.  Previewing sound won’t work, previewing video won’t work. Scrubbing won’t work. It sometimes comes back after 3-5 minutes. Clearing cache/memory does nothing. Restarting helps, but after restarting, it still takes time to generate preview. It happens across ALL after effects versions, 23, 24, 25, and now 26.

After Effects refuses to consolidate duplicate assets that share an identical file path.In Premiere Pro, I use the "Replace with After Effects Composition" command to send clips to a new project. This process automatically places the media at the root level of the After Effects Project Panel. At the end of the project, I need the assets in After Effects to match the organization I have in Windows Explorer so I manually import my Footage and Images folders from my hard drive into the project. This results in two versions of lots of different files. One version is the asset sent from Premiere Pro at the root level, and the second version is the one nested within my imported folder structure. Both versions point to the exact same file path on my disk and share identical interpretation settings. Scrolling font list is very slow with mouse wheel. One mouse roll equals the movement of few pixels compared to other scrollable items like Project items list for example. Please fix this.

Problem: Shift + arrow keys to nudge footage is inconsistent in values depending on zoom. Zoomed in moves a fraction, whilst zoomed out moves 10pxSteps to reproduce:I was in a comp scaled 1080x1350.Inside the comp i have a pre-comp with continous rasterization scaled at 70%. the scaled comp has a resolution of 1920x1080.If i am zoomed in quite a bit like 400% it moves the composition layer by a fractionIf i am zoomed in at 50% it moves the comp layer 10px. making nudging with shift + arrow keys inconsistent.there's no further documentation stating that this is the intended way making this a potential bugAfter Effects 25.5.0mac os 26.0.1 (25A362)Apple M2 Max

When updating the contents of a dropdown menu via scripting (using .setPropertyParameters), the name of the effect gets reverted back to whatever name it had when it was created (which is usually 'Dropdown Menu Control').
