Someone asked me to troubleshoot a custom script I made for them a few years back. From my understanding, it last worked in AE 2020. They moved on to 2023 and now 2024, but each time they run the script, After Effect hangs showing an everlasting load icon. It sounds very much like what has been going on here: https://community.adobe.com/t5/after-effects-discussions/ae-2021-and-2022-freeze-when-using-script/td-p/12573468 After trying out the script line by line, I discovered that it happens when removing a layer effect, for example via: comp.selectedLayers[0].effect('Sharpen').remove(); The exact code really doesn't matter, whether it's straightforward or via Effects or property. Having .remove() on a layer effect anywhere in the running script or function will make it hang, without exception as far as I could tell. OK, so try this: Create an Advenced 3D comp and set an Essential Property (in my case, a color)Nest this comp in a new A3D comp multiples times.Collapse transformations on all these layers.Change the color-EP for all these layers.So far, everything works.Now, turn on the 3d switch for all these layers.Boom - all EP's are cancelled and set to the same value.I have tested and confirmed that it works as expected in Classic 3D.So the bug is in Advanced 3D. See screenshots After Effects 24.1MacOS 14.3  

It's one year and a half that i've been reading this tread on this issue and After Effects 23 it's still broke with the same problem. I can't use a software that without any reason show me up the "low memory warning" and needs to be restarted.So yes, I'm paying a monthly fee to have a software that is not updated to the final version, beacuse that version can't do the only thing that a software like that should do: "Play what i'm animating" Please. Applying a Clip Marker to an AeMoGRT makes the marker a permanent feature - now each new instance of the AeMoGRT that's dragged into the Timeline, includes the Marker. The marker occurs even when the AeMoGRT is dragged onto another Sequence. This issue has been around for a long while.  

Steps:1. Open AE2. Create 2 or more comps3. Select 2 or more comps in project panel and Add to render queue (Ctrl + M), all comps should say "Not yet specified" in Output to4. With all comps in output selected, click on one and set an output locationThe output is only set to that 1 comp with its comp name, other comps paths are not setWhat should happen is other comps should be set to same folder/path with their comp names. When does it work?1. Open AE2. Create 2 or more comps3. Select 1 comp and add it to render queue4. Set an output location to that comp5. I imported a video into my After Effects project, and after doing so, After Effects appears to be unable to properly cache and therefore won't playback. (See attached screen recording of render indicator.) Removing the video from the project does not fix the problem. I have tried duplicating the Ae project file, moving it to another drive, and resetting my preferences—no dice. Anyone know what this problem is and how to fix it?

In AE 2024, I can select and edit the text in the Comment column, but only while the layer is closed/compact. If I expand the layer in the timeline to see multiple lines of text in the Comment column, I can no longer select or edit the text. This means I have to write my layer comments in a text editor, then copy and paste them to a layer's Comment column. This was not an issue until the latest release.

After upgrading to macOS sonoma, I found that the Window menu and blend mode menu are not transparent. The following screenshots are taken on Sonoma 14.1.1 (23B81) and After Effects 24.0.3 (Build 2).It's only After Effects on my machine having this issue, other apps like Photoshop and Illustrator are good.Does anyone else encounter this issue? I know it doesn't affect daily workflow, but it's just noticeable. 

When using the scroll wheel or the two-finger swipe up/down gesture on the trackpad to adjust a property value, it is being adjusted not correctly (backwards).Clicking on a value and scrolling/swiping up decreases the value, while scrolling/swiping down increases it. Scroll/swipe UP ↑DECREASES the value ↓Scroll/swipe DOWN ↓ INCREASES the value ↑ This behavior is counterintuitive. It should work the other way around. This has been an issue for both Premiere Pro and After Effects. For both IOS/MAC and Window users. For years and different versions.When changing from speakers to plugging in earphones or headphones, the "Default Output" doesn't automatically change and pick up the change in devices. I am working on Windows 11, After Effects. This happened with the last 2023 version and still with the 2024 version. But earlier in the year the 2023 version did pick up changes in audio automatically, I know this issue repeats itself throughout the years. I have seen multiple posts on this and it happened in 2012 too to me.Can this be fixed somehow for once and for all?

IssueWhen Source Text property of a text layer is exposed as Essential Property in AE versions prior to 23.6 only text change without styling is being applied to source layer. Sice adding Essential Properties (EP) to Properties panel in 23.6 and enabling font styling options for text properties it looks like the whole TextDocument is now being forwarded to the source layer, which is great. Hey, while improving some projects, I noticed that sometimes text from an instantiated comp was stuck in all caps, even though it was delected in the Essential Graphics Panel. I use a comp like that (sample is included):Child comp that will be intantiatedParent comp that uses the child comp in varying styles I noticed when child comp has e.g. all caps enabled that they are stuck in all caps in the parent comp even if the all caps is deselected in the Essential Graphics Panel."Luckily" the state is correctly reflected in the new property panel. Clicking all caps in the Essential Graphics Panel does nothing in this case. I tested this with other faux formats and this issue occurs as well.But when e.g. faux italic is selected in the Essential Graphics Panel, then the text correctly updates without all caps. What is the expected result? While working on a text script, I encountered an issue with the boxTextPos property. It seems that boxTextPos does not accept negative values. Whenever I try to input a negative value, the script does not work, but it works perfectly fine with positive values. AE Version: v 23.6 & v 24.0 (users have reported this issue since CC 2017)OS: Windows 11 Steps to Reproduce:Create a script using the boxTextPos property to set the position of a paragraph text box.Try setting the value to a negative number, e.g. boxTextPos = [-50, 50];See that the script does not run.Change the value to a positive number, e.g. boxTextPos = [50, 50];The script works correctly. I believe this is a bug that needs attention as it limits the flexibility in scripting for working with paragraph text layers, which are a substantial part of text workflows. Hey all, not sure if this is an Adobe bug or a potential issue with the font but I'm having an odd issue with After Effects where the height of a font is appearing differently in After Effects compared to everywhere else.As you can see from the images I have two words that are written in two different fonts in Illustrator. The fonts are actually the same base font but 1 of them is a custom cut (to adjust kerning) that we had created by the foundry. In Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, Premiere and everywhere else I've tested it both fonts have the same height when set to the same point size as intended. But for some reason in After Effects the newer font with the customisation appears to be about 3% smaller in height.I have tried thise in multiple versions of AE, and on both Windows and Mac and the issue is consistent.Not sure if this is a bug or an potentially Afer Effects quirk effecting a setting within the font itself. Any help would be great.

I have a project which I started in Ae 2023.6. When Ae 2024 came out I worked at the project there, having converted it into a 2024 project version. I finished the project, sent it to the client and yesterday I got a note for some corrections to make in it. So I open up the project in Ae 2024 and get this: I hit OK and get this: I hit OK and get an empty timeline: I have tried saving the project in 2023 version and opening it in Ae 2023 and I get the same empty project there. I can't believe this nonsense is back. Right at the start of my start menu under "recently added": 'Maxon Cinema 4D'". Why?? This was finally solved after years of multiple unwanted C4D installations:installing C4D is now optional when installing After Effects 2023 and later.As noted by @JohnColombo17100380 in Prevent Maxon Cinema 4D Force Install The add-ons overview for AE in the Creative Cloud application just shows 'installed ✅', no option to never install it or even to uninstall it.

Good morning, I have the most up-to-date version of After Effects, 24.0, and the most up-to-date version of Mac Os Ventura, 13.6. And I started facing the following problem. Whenever I use the shortcut to create a keyframe, the layer is automatically deselected (Attached is the video where I show it). And the most bizarre thing: this only happens when I create the first keyframe for each attribute. From the second of the same attribute this does not happen again. 

Hi,Using AE24.0.2When I click on some of the buttons on the help menu, nothing happens. Unfortunately this also includes the F1 shortcut. I think they should open a link on the browser, but they don't work.I've tried resetting AE but that didnt fix it. The other selections work though, including "Online User Forums" and "Provide Feedback" that DO open a link in Chrome.Help!

I require assistance with an issue that occurs when launching the program. It crashes and displays the error messages shown in the screenshot. What's strange is that this issue only arises when I run the program from its desktop shortcut. However, I can continue to use After Effects if I initiate it through a project file (.aep) and create new projects by selecting 'File > New Project' from there.
