The cast shadow option is greyed out for spot and point lights.  MAC Monterey v12.6Mac mini (2018)3 GHz 6-Core Intel Core i5

I imported a GLB model into the After Effects Beta app. I then set keyframes in my animation to start from 0% scale and go to 100% scale. When the 3D objects render in After Effects things look good, but if I use either the Render Queue in After Effects or if I render to the Beta of AME I get blue and purple boxes at the beginning of the animation before the texture starts to appear (see attachment).

Hello everyone! I've been working on a project with native 3D elements for a few weeks now, which is why I turned to After Effects Beta.But for the last two or three updates, as soon as I go to my file, the preview doesn't work (after a while, the 3D preview turns gray, and I can't see what I'm modifying), which obviously makes my project impossible to continue. What's more, after the preview stopped working, I quit After Effects but it froze and I had to go through the task manager to close it manually.I've tried everything, uninstalling then reinstalling, rebooting the PC, changing the cache location, but nothing works. I just think it's undoubtedly a bug from some update, at least I hope so.Does anyone have the same problem? Thanks in advance!

create a new shape layer and delete it, after deleted the path is still visbible and sowftware will be crash

As you can see above I have imported the 3d objects into after effects and it shows that they are in there but I cannot see the the object in the screeen. What should I do to fix this issue

It is an old-time bug still present in 2023 I've experienced it in around 2016 when I encountered with the anamorphic shooting for the first time. When the adaptive resolution is switched on in the compositing panel, anamorphic footage that is within it flips and stretches itself while scrubbing or dragging playhead.Steps to reproduce:1) Insert any red anamorphic footage like 6k with 12:5 squeezing ratio (could be any different from square pixels) into the new composition2) Set to adaptive resolution in the composition panel3) try to grab the timecode to shift time or grab the playhead and drag4) Also you can either try different render resoulutions in composition panel or in Edit -> Preferences -> Preview and try changing the adaptive res limit like to 1/16 and try to srub the footage and see how differently it behave with different limits...The attached is a screengrab of how it goes

Just generally seeing a lot of lag when moving between precomps; this is in a relatively complex, long project on a 4k monitor. Often when leaving a big comp, there's slowdown between clicking a menu item and feedback from the UI. AE beta 23.6.0 build 7Windows 10 19045.2965 

Hi. To use 3D objects, I created a project in After Effects Beta and rendered it. When I open the project again today, it closes within 20 seconds without any error messages. I've cleared the cache completely, my GPU driver is up to date, all adobe programs are up to date. The project must be changed, but I cannot open the project. What should I do?

We have a mix of windows and MacOS machines, with a mix of AE versions. when creating a project on Windows, AE 23.0.0, using the 'Poppins' typeface from Adobe Fonts, it creates a version seemingly incompatible with AE latest Beta (23.5x26) on MacOS, showing as [Poppins-Light/Type1].When opening the project in AE 23.3 on MacOS, it shows (renders and in the character dropdown) fine, but the render times are >100x slower (123ms vs 1ms). I can resolve this by switching the font from 'Light' to 'Standard' and back again.  If the resolved project is then opened again on Windows, AE 23.0, the issue returns, and the typeface gets replaced with the windows specific version. Seemingly, the improvements to the font system are now exposing that something incorrect is happening in the background.I've included 2 project files, 1 that includes the windows typeface, and shows slow render times on MacOS 23.3, and incompatible Typeface on AE 23.5. The other file has the issue resolved

Latest beta (23.5x12) won't lunch for me. It gets through Initializing MediaCore, then just vanishes shorly after that. When I try to relaunch, it offers to let me launch in safe mode, which desn't help. I've done a couple of rounds of uninstall and reinstall, but no luck. I've retreated to 23.4x48, which seems to work fine.

Hi @Christine Goldby, thanks for all of your work here on the support community site. I've been testing the new After Effects 3d features this week for use on our web-video project. The project requires 3d artwork to be rendered out in .webm format with transparency support.   It seems the only way to get .webm output out of Adobe products is using an external plugin from www.fnordware.com This enables the Media Encoder (Beta) to output in .webm format w/ transparency, but I have run into some issues with ME rendering Adobe After Effects (Beta) files that include 3d objects. - Compositions including an .obj file are able to be rendered out, but the renderer ignores the 3d layers in the composition.- Compositions including a .glb file are not even recognised by the Media Encoder, you receive a "Could not locate file" error. Both of these errors occur while using the Mercury rendering engine.   For now I've found a workaround by outputting a Quicktime .MOV from A

Can't assign F10 Key in keyboard editor or in custom .keys file. Why.    Steps:  Try to assign f10 "That key may not be reassigned." Try to edit keyboard shortcut file so I can use F10 for my Designated purpose....keyboard file reverts to earlier state. 

When I updated to the latest update to After Effects Beta, I opened the project, but this thing appears to me, and when I click on OK, the program exits

Interpret Footage --> Main --> Seperate Fields --> "Upper Field First" and "Lower Filed First" shows identical field.This also appears in non beta versions.  

Hello, I made a very simple video using Mercury 3D , but when I render it using After Effects itself, it says an error with code 1, and when I use Media Encoder (beta), the video is rendered like this, what is the solution? I even deleted the plugins that I put in the video, but it also gave me the same result

Hello! I inserted an Adjustment Layer with Tint to change the color of the iMac (3d object). When using this adjustment, the 3d depth field is lost, and the layer hierarchy is assumed. Look at the attached prints. 

Updated to 23.4 yesterday.  After several uninstall -reinstalls these past 2 days, had to revert back to 23.3 as program wouldn't launch in 24.4 and kept notifying me upon launch that the beta program file was corrupted. 

AE beta v23.4.028Windows 10 22H2 19045.2728 DWAA/DWAB EXR, 2 puzzlematte layers rendered via Redshift in C4D 2023.1. Expected result: applying eXtractor should allow me to view the puzzlemattes as single colour layers. Actual behaviour: eXtractor does nothing when applied to EXR layers. Vanilla AE playback is fine.  

I've just sent 3 items to render, and got this weird message about the name of the output module. Whaaaat?? Who cares if the output module's name is already in use - I'm not changing the output module settings - I just selected one of the presets (H.264 - Match Render Settings - 40 Mbps...but it doesn't matter which one I choose...it could be ProRes444....anything), hit Render, and got the error. Exporting things one at a time fixes the problem.I'm on AE Beta 23.4.0x28, Windows 10 Oh yes - and I still often get the "The directory originally specified in the selected output module no longer exists." error, so I have to click on the output filename to choose the exact file location that AE has already set.  

Hey, the new AE beta introduced a progress bar that is displayed while a script is being executed. Now I get why this might be useful in certain circumstances. However, I have my own progress bars included within my scripts and it's kind of annoying to suddenly have two progress bars popping up at the same time, especially since AE's progress bar does not display specific information regarding the progress in question compared to the custom progress bars within my scripts. I looked into the user preferences, however, there was no option to turn off the progress bar as there is for example for the warning message when executing files. Now, maybe there is an option to do that already that I'm not aware of. If it doesn't exist, would be possible to add a checkbox like this in the preferences for (de)activating the progress bar?  Best wishes,Constantin

While working with only a few 3d layers in basic 3D, not only panel redimension is extremely slow, also it seems the composition gets weird proportions in the display. Even though the scaling dimension is not changed.Video preview attached.My system: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-8750H CPU // 32gb RAM // Nvidia RTX 2060Latest After Effects update 22.2.0 suffers the same issue!

Hi there!  I've got my 3d object in my composition and it is extremely whitewashed. Still whitewashed on export to video. Any ideas on how to change it back to its original color? 

I'm about to go crazy. please help!I'm trying to sequence my layers, and it's keeping all of them at the same start point, but making the dissolve I've added. I have no idea why it's happening, because I was able to do it right before. I picked the end point of the layers by using alt+].I did manage to Sequence the layers by clicking "new comp from selection" in the project files, but then I couldn't set my desired duration for the layers.
