Captivate

I am creating a presentation where I only want a slide to be seen if someone answers a questions incorrectly. I created an action to jump to the slide, if the question is answered incorrectly. However, the slide is still showing in the course. How do I hide the slide otherwise, so it only shows if the question is answered incorrectly.Also, I have navigation buttons for each slide. However, when I render there is still a times presentation. How do I make the presentation click through only?I am a newbie, and would appreciate the help.Kathleen

We have some old Captivate courses running on our LMS that are in a zipped format. Unfortunately, we are unable to locate the source .CPTX files that were used to create them due to the loss of a server. Is there a way to reverse-engineer CPTX files out of a zipped files? Even if it isn't 100% effective if it saves us having to recreate the courses from scratch, that would be great. Thank you.

I'm trying to build a course that will be deployed on a microsite (independent of an LMS). I'd like to have the slides made as a series of short videos, but there are performance concerns if they are put in the course as Progressive Downloads. If I use my company's Youtube account, can I use videos set to Unlisted? I tried a test from my personal Youtube and got an error message from Captivate saying the video needed to be public. This is just not acceptable for the course as it has proprietary information. What are the limitations of Captivate and Youtube links?

I have created a project for an LMS and inserted the checkbox widget in Adobe Captivate, have it laid out and designed the way I want it. Once I finished the whole project, I published a video on my local computer as well as HTML5 / SWF project to be uploaded to the LMS. When I go to watch the video and play the interactive project with Google Chrome, The slide in the video with the checkbox widget will only show the slide background and the separate titles I have created, but all the checkbox sections won't show up at all for the entire slide. I tried playing the video in Internet Explorer and Firefox as well to test it out, and still, have the same issue. There are not any advanced tools in the widget menu (that I can see) for me to adjust beyond the words I want to show, font and size, layout and the ability to add or remove extra checkboxes, so I am not sure what else I can do. I am working with Captivate version 11.5.0.476, on a PC laptop running Windows 10 Enterprise. Hello--I have several software simulations created in Captivate 9 and published as executable files. Will these executable files work in 2021 when Flash is discontinued for many browsers?  If the files won't work in 2021, what do you suggest for preserving these files if that's possible. Thank you for any help you can providePatty

i reviewed several videos on buttons and click box i understand what i need to do, and its seems simple but when i preview, when i use click box or button it won't show my action of showing a list!i clearly am missing something. my steps:-create click box (tried button too as other didn't work so both ways)-move to actions, use dropdown box for 'on success' choosing show (as i read my item should show)-from show dropdown i select my item * i have attempted to remove and re-add 'continue playing the project' and 'infinite attempts' with no luck either ways*remove success, failure and hit for click box*others add all now to see if any works.... anyhelp be great!

Hi While edditing the master slides for the quizes to find them ready I cannot find how to change styles for the dropdown list of the matching quiz and the lines.  Also found this problem for the short answer box. We need to change these due to the colours being used. Thanking you in advanceKarl

I republished a few project that I made with and old version of Captivate. I republished using the trial version. After the trial version expired, I had a legend on my online projects. I purchased the full version, republished a project and still says: This project has expired.  How can I remove and make my projects visible again?Is this something that authomatically be removed after a few days?  

I have created a project within Captivate using a number of YouTube videos.  When I preview the project using the “HTML5 in Browser” option, the course runs as I would expect – videos automatically start, buttons are usable, etc.I need to publish this course within Captivate Prime, so I have tried 2 methods:1) Publishing directly to Prime2) Publishing as an HTML5 to my computerWhile both “publish” without issues, when I preview the content, the videos do not automatically play.  The slide timing is the same as video is supposed to be, but it does not play…I am a beginner who is learning through trial-and-error and webinars, and it isn’t working..

In the past we have always been able to link to documents in our IBM Notes database stored on our company's servers. However, this no longer works when publishing to HTML5. The message displays telling you to copy the files to the output folder. I can't, obviously, copy the file and I can't copy the URL since to the Callee folder since the link does not have an extension. Here's a n example notes://<server name>/<document identifier).notes is the shortcut that launches the database.  The errors range from Request Not Processed and Not Found. The URL at the top of the screen lists our Adobe Connect published project URL followed by default/ and immediately by the link to the database, so http://<Adobe Connect server URL/<module URL>/default/notes://<notes server name>/document identifer.  So it looks like it's trying to find the link in our Adobe Connect realm and not launching notes from our actual computers. I've been using Captivate since early this year. Now I started working on a new project but upon opening Captivate it's asking me to register my serial number, which I was never given, or start my 30-day trial. Upon searching the forum and google, I only found the solution to start the trial again and it would then register my Adobe Account. But it doesn't seem to be doing that. Does anyone have an idea of how to make captivate realize that I do have a proper license?

Hello, I'm creating some quizzez and I would like to set all questions to have 3 attempts and after Last Attempt -> Go to the next slide. Is there any way to set it automatically and not have to change it individually on all slides?

Hi, I am using Captivate 2019 11.5.1.499 version on windows.I have added background music to my project. But I want to remove this music from the Quiz slides. I just want it to come in other slides.How can I achieve this? Pls, suggest. Thanks in advance.

There is a random submit button showing up on a slide. It looks like the one from a text entry object, . It only shows up when published. There is no text entry box in the timeline. This submit button does not show up in the timeline. How can I get rid of it?Another issue:When I get to the quiz results, it won't let me go back. I am using the built in player navigation.

I have Mac OS 10.12 and 10.15 devices . I need to install Captivate 8 on them. IS it possible? If not, what would be your recommendation

I am creating a responsive project with justified text. When I preview the project on an iPhone the text is indented to the left. This is the same when I publish the project to SCORM 1.2 and view it in the Moodle LMS. Another problem that might be related to this is with custom fonts on iOS. I'm importing 2 with javascript but they are only displayed on desktop, on iPhone I get some serif font instead.

I have created a course where the learner's answer a series of knowledge check questions.  If the answer is correct, they get a short response and if they get the answer incorrect, they get a longer response.  At the end of the series of knowledge checks and answers, they complete a graded quiz.   I am having trouble figuring out how to program the course so that if the final quiz is incorrect, the learner freshly repeats the course. I want it to be as if they are entering the course for the first time but any way I have set it up and tested on scorm cloud, the course doesn't reset. If It doesn't reset, I run into issues with the knowledge check questions as people only have one attempt to get correct.Thanks!!

HiI have run into something really weird.All of a sudden my videos can only be played ones.I am using web objects and youtube i frames. It have worked great until some days ago.I jump to the frame using cpCmdGotoFramAndResume and cpCmdGotoFrame.What is upp Captivate.I am using captivate 2019

Have set up a series of slides in Captivate 2019 and I am trying to achieve the following:A slide has 3 text captions:Caption 1 starts at 8.4 seconds and fades out to grey at 16.6 secondsCaption 2 starts at 16.7 seconds and fades out to grey at 20.2 secondsCaption 3 starts at 38.5 seconds.The overall slide duration is 47.4 seconds.What I want to achieve is at say 45 seconds all captions are back to black for the remainder of the slide.I can get them to fade out sequentially as described above but cant get them back.Can you please give me some guidance if it is at all possible.Many thanks in anticipation Bryan

Hi I have created a blank project.  Some of my slides have next buttons that advance to the next slide when clicked.  However I want some of my slides to AUTOMATICALLY advance to the next slide. How do I do this as Its not workingThanks

I'm having a problem getting audio to stop when a shape button is clicked.I created some buttons with states that display a text caption in the visited state when the button is clicked.The text caption plays an audio file when it appears.The button uses the Stop Triggered Audio action when clicked so that if another button is clicked before the first audio is finished, the new audio won't play over the previous audio.Problem: it doesn't work. What is wrong?

Hi All,  I'm working with Captivate '19 and wanted to replace the default quiz buttons with image buttons but I can't find where to edit the alternate states (rollover/down).  I'm currently making the edits in the master slide.  I looked in the object style manager and couldn't find a way to edit the states there either.  I gave up and switched back to normal transparent buttons, but those have a rollover state too (boring gray color).  Can someone point me to where I can edit rollover/down states to the default quiz buttons?  Thanks in advance!
