Captivate

Most keyboard shortcuts I use in Captivate on my Mac make the dull bonk/beep sound, as if I'm attempting an action that would result in an error. It drives me crazy and makes Captivate nearly unusable for me. There are several other threads about this and it is definitely a bug. Please fix this asap. It's a usability nightmare.

Hi....I have cleared my Captivate Cache (rebooted, restarted) but this continues to happen.  Does anyone have ideas?  Using version 11.5.4.613.  Also, when I check for updates I get a message "Another installer is currently running....."?  No, there is not.   Adobe.....do you read these?  Please help!

I opened a Captivate 2018 .cptx project and saved it as a Captivate 2019 file to make changes. Every time I click  HTML5 in Browser or click F8 to view my changes in HTML5, a browser window opens showing only this icon () spining continuously until I close the browser. Please point me to a way I can view my changes to this project in HTML5.  

Hello everyoneOnce again, I am very very angry with adobe.I have a responsive project with breakpoints. The project is not that big, only about 10 slides, but after I closed it and opened it again, my breakpoints look like this: I mean... what?I have tried clearing out the cache and restarting the computer. I am using version 11.5.1.499. If this can not be fixed, then my project is absolutely useless. I am using this tool professionally and I am honestly fed up with it. The fact that Adobe even charges money for this is absolutely ridiculous to me. I know I may come across as short tempered but this is supposed to be a PROFESSIONAL TOOL. To me, this is completely unacceptable. 

When I subscribe to adobe captivate for a month and finish a project within that time period, can I then unsubscribe again or will my published work get deactivated like with the 30 Days free trail version? Thanks in advance.

Hi all,Is there a way to do closed captioning for hotspots on a virtual reality project with 360 images? For example, I have a virtual reality project and each slide has a 360 image with various hotspots that trigger an audio recording when clicked. How would I add closed captioning for each audio at each hotspot? Is this possible?Thank you!

Hi -- I have created a client project which consists of three slides. All the slides contain videos. There is no quiz in this project. The client needs to see a report from their LMS that the viewer has watched all the slides and completed the project. In the absence of a quiz, what can I do to ensure that the LMS is able to track and report completion? Should I introduce an action button at the end for the viewer? If yes, would greatly appreciate some help. Thanks..

I have recently made changes to an existing and currently published captivate project on our LMS (saba). The published version was in Captivate 9.We have moved to Captivate 19 and I have made minor changes. Key change has been the attachment of 2 PDFs . The projct previews without a problem.  When I publish it and send it to my colleague to upload on the LMS the upload is unsuccessful. the latest message is:Windows cannot open the folder. The compressed (zipped)folder ...........is invalid. I hadn't changed the quiz settings.  I am running out of options. not sure if  its the new version that has caused the problem. I have been finding my existing projects are not as stable sincewe switched to 2019. Any help would be greatly appreciated.    

Can you delete cache files without affecting the actual captivate files. I have read that the captivate files need to be closed if you are doing this.  However I also read that if they are in the same folder it may delete your captivate files. My C: drive is struggling so i need to free up some space urgently and removing the cache files would help enormously.  many thanks Cathy 

HiI've created a number of captivate files to upload to an LMS.  However when I go to view them I appear to have two issues.  1. Clicking between slides seems to take a long time (in web terms - maybe3-4 seconds)2. Sometimes when I go to the lesson/captivate project, it never gets past the loading screen? This is sporadic but happening quite often.  The projects are around 6mb big so not huge. Any advice is gratefully welcome.  Cheers

Hi, When exporting to AICC format, captivate doesnt seem to be giving me all the files I need. My LMS vendor tells me they need files in addition to what I am posting. Im only getting flash, one html and one javascript file. In SCORM I get all the required file (lmsmanifest etc) but not AICC. I've run this by the Adobe team, but again they have failed to respond to my issue. Can anyone assist? Cheers

Hello, I have created several modules 3 years ago using Captivate 8 that are still in use at my company. I wanted to know how will those modules be affected by the ending of Flash. I published them in HTML5 with the Flash Player option set to version 10. I did not use any rollovers, just click boxes, text boxes, and auto zoom features. Will I have to recreate these modules or will they be ok without Flash in the world?

Good afternoon community, Text to speech1. It's saying things like Europe Trademark etc. which I haven't wrote in the text to speech.2. How can I delete a text to speech? If I remember well I could delete it by selecting it in timeline and then back space (Mac User).FontsIn addition, I'm using the fonts Gill Sans (Light). When I'm on the Layout Preview/work platform of Captivate they look fine, but when I preview the actual work these fonts change to regular.Any support will be greatly appreciated - thank youAvgoustinos

Is it possible to place an external link to say a PDF file (held on your laptop) in a Captivate content slide. If so how can this be achieved?

Hi everyone,I updated a captivate module, which I published as html for web only, and ensured that I'd replaced the play icon in c-drive with a transparent icon, because I didn't want it showing over an image (into which I had inserted a 'fake' but pretty play button). I also replaced the open and collapse toc icons in the TOC settings. When I previewed on my computer it all looked fine, but when I sent the files to a colleague who then uploaded it to our website, the original default play icon and TOC open and collapse icons appear again! Why would this happen as these no longer existed in my cdrive when I published the module. Is it to do with having someone else upload the files to the website?ThanksMaria

HiI'm working through the Captivate 2019 certification training.  THe CSVQuestionsCreationMacro.xlsm file is definitely not in the folder where the training states that it is found.  I do need this file.  It is possible it might be in my work version of CP but as they have things locked down so tight I could not email it to myself even it it was there as it would be flagged.  Can anyone tell me how I can get this file? Or is this a call to Adobe Support?Cheryl

I have Cp version 11.5.1.499 on a Windows 10 system in an enterprise environment.I created a new VR presentation. Cp loads a VR Demo presentation. It plays (mostly), but because the slides are blank in the editor, I cannot place any buttons, text, etc. As you can see from the screenshot here, it is a VR slide and I am able to preview it in Chrome. This is repeatable every time I try clicking: Project > New Project > Virtual Reality Project.I have already tried restarting, clearing cache, and reviewing this forum for similar experiences. 

I'm using Captivate 2017. I've created an Adv Action that shows the progress of a module. However, the module starts after 8 slides. The progress shows a percentage completed as the learner goes through the module. I tried using the cpInfoCurrentSlide variable but its not accurate since it doesn't start on the literal 1. I created my own current slide variable but when the learner goes back a slide the progress decreases. How can I create a constant that only increments and stays constant when going back? 

Hey Team,                This week, I upgraded from Captivate 2017 to 2019. Some great new features, however, When I preview in internet explorer, the slides pause right at the beginning, the screen just stays 'grey' like a semi-transparent screen that has only loaded the first part of the slide, then it does not play. This issue does not occur in chrome, however, my workplace runs on Internet Explorer 11 and above. It happens both in preview and when I publish into our LMS.Please help quickly 😞 I would really appreciate any guidance or advice.

Is captivate the right choice for a paid internet learning platform? (So, no Intranet solution for one company only).

I am unable to create a new video demonstration in Adobe Captivate 19 but I am unable to do so. I understand that this is related to the following setting: "DpiAwareness = 0" setting. I have gone into the notepad to make the change to "DpiAwareness = 1" but I do not have adminstrator privileges to do so. I even tried to change settings for adminstrator privileges, but that didn't work either.  As the sole user for my organization, I should be set up with adminstrator privileges--I don't know why I can't c hange this on my own.  During a recent session with Adobe Support I had to reinstall Captivate -- I'm guessing this is what caused the change in the setting.  The video demonstration function was working fine before the reinstallation of the software.

Come on, Adobe. How does this work? I've tried in vain to launch Captivate. I paid for a subscription. I've read the forum and it says no serial number is required. But I'm unable to launch the app unless I activate it with a serial number. I followed the instructions to go to my order page, and checked my email and do NOT see any serial number. There is no one to call or reach.  How am I to use a purchased software when I cannot launch it and your help pages are of no help?  Brenda

According to my LMS, this is the gist of the problem:"Root cause is this package which, with some browser-specific logic, is calling function "SCORM_CallLMSInitialize()" contained within scormdriver.js twice - once too many. First call successfully initializes the API, but second returns an error (as this function should not run twice)."Trying to get someone on chat support to help me... still waiting.  But in the meantime - does anyone know how to fix this?Thanks!Wanda

Hello, I am trying to publish to video. I am using custom settings. Size is 1684 x 1080. Profile: main, Level: 40, force republish is checked, target/max bitrate is 2/4. The test button says "settings are valid."  When I hit the Publish button, I get an error message: "The icon file is damaged. Icon might not be generated correctly. Do you want to continue?"  When I hit yes, the video will begin processing, but will stall out at 99% and will not finish.  I have not used any icons in my project, or even svg files for that matter. Could this be referring to a software icon? I deleted and reinstalled Captivate but this did not solve the problem.  Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks much!
