Hi guys,Just a question if I may...I am building a responsive e-learning module and I have encountered this minor problem when I publish.I have attached an image to show you what I mean. Now my question is, how do I get rid of these symbols(highlighted in RED)?I know when you click these, you see a large version of the text appear that fills the screen for the benefit of mobile devices,BUT, I just want to remove these.Thanks in advance

Hi, I have a course where the content page comprises smart shapes as buttons.  Disabled at entry via Advanced action on welcome page and unlocked as the learner progresses.  The problem.  When learners reenter the course they don't pass the Advanced action so all smart shapes on content page are unlocked.  Meaning they can skip anywhere in the course.  Any idea how I could resolve this?Cheers,Alex

Dear allI set specifications for a custom layout in Captivate 2019, and since then the original Desktop option in the layout preview drop down menu has disappeared. I searched for a solution in the forums and online. Various solutions were offered but none have worked. I am using Win 10 with the latest, updated, version of Captivate 2019. Solutions already tried include the usual switch-it-off-and-on; delete the custom option I created; clear the cache by clicking on the batch file "CleanPreferencesWin.bat" in the Utils folder in the Captivate program files (see screen shot);checking the "DeviceList.xml" file in the Captivate program folder which after all changes still shows "Desktop" as an option although it does not show in the options in the program (see screenshots);and, shutting down Captivate and restarting my computer after each step. Hello all,As a former Captivate course designer (not since 2004 and the days of custom Flash add-ons), I am back and I expect that I'm going to be slightly bewildered by how much has changed in fifteen years. I need to quickly ramp up my skills in order to build a course template and begin creating content.Can anyone recommend training material, beginning with an intro to more advanced custom template building?I noticed that Lynda's course content is pretty sparse for Captivate 2019 training. Is Captivate 2017 training still relevant? I'm not certain about the differences between the two versions.I prefer video training b/c it allows faster absorption, but I am also interested in books that I can purchase. Thank you so much,Shawn

Hello all,I haven't used Captivate since Flash was still a thing. I am just curious, why is SWF still showing up under Project Info > Preferences > Project > Size and Quality ?I confirmed that there are no SWF files in the final published zip file. Just curious. Thanks.

Since my last question was a little difficult and no one seemed to be able to help I'm hoping to receive a better response on this one as it is most definitely a little easier to explain and I think will be simpler to troubleshoot.I was able to create a .swf with smartshape buttons that keep all the smart shape buttons at their needed size but once I load them into our LMS/Flex Wrapper the buttons contine to shrink per click (I think this is because Adobe Flash Player doesnt know what to do with it).My solution is I'm trying to find a way to either do one of the following two things (reload or "refresh" the button in advanced actions after a click so that it will always have the first click sizing) or ...The second is a little more involved as I found that the sizing happens on the 'down' action of the button and not the 'click'. This means that if I could remove the 'down' graphic functionality from my smart shape buttons and keep the up and click actions in theory the button might wo

In Captivate 9, we were able to create complex mathematical equations using mathmagic editor. how to do this in Captivate 10? 

I am creating a quiz in captivate but can't remember how to turn off the duration on the slides.  I had to make the duration on each slide 100 seconds so that it will not automatically advance but want to remove the option.  I want the quiz to advance on user input of either "next" or "back".  Where can I go in captivate to make this happen.Thanks

We've had this issue for a while where the tablet views will show on the larger phones,but the screen doesn't fit on phone. It's twice the size of the screen. There's some kind of button or function I need to turn to keep this from happening?Getting a bit frustrated this is the 3rd version of captivate that seems to do this.Can't use CC 2019 for this project, but I will laugh it turns out to be fixed in that version

I have a client who is wanting to track knowledge check questions.  They would like to track the number of times:The knowledge check questions were answered correctly the first time vs third time.The number of times the question was answered wrong in the first attempt onlyIs there a way to track this? they use an LMS.

I discovered this 3 days ago. I just began working on Captivate 9 last week - I'm definitely a novice. I've got my predecessor's old Captivate files to look at. I'm not using anything I currently don't fully understand (he used JavaScript). My first project is very simple - just buttons jumping from slide to slide. Text and photos. Size is very small - just over 7,200KB and I'm using a theme I saved from his old project.After redoing work 2x, this is how I’m currently handling the situation:Process of “fixing” the Captivate fileI open yesterday’s file – last one saved end of day. Is there a way to store quiz results to a MySQL database or do we need to use some third party LMS?

HelloAs soon as I add pictures to my project, such as full size background, Captivate is very slow. Is there a way to compress the size of the pictures while already added to the project in Adobe Captivate? Or do I have to do that before using them in my project, in Photoshop for example? 

Hi.In my Captivate project, I need a course, seen by a user, when it reaches the end of the closing slides and in a new follow up start from the beginning, the same user.I have done several tests and combinations with the options of project completion combined with the actions of the last slide and I can not get it to start in other follow-ups with the same user.Now what happens to me is that in successive follow-ups, the same user always starts in the last operative of the project.

Hello everyone. I am trying to incorporate a glossary into a series of Captivate courses that I am developing. Here is the functionality I am hoping to achieve in Captivate 2019, but I need a reality check as to whether this is feasible. Any help would be appreciated.Desired End User Functionality:- As the user proceeds through the course, glossary terms are highlighted- The user can click on highlighted terms to see the definition in an unobtrusive manner, such as a simply pop-upDesired Characteristics of Whatever Approach We Take:- The glossary terms would exist in a centralized form, such that updating the glossary content across multiple Captivate courses could be done by updating one file (as opposed to having to update separate glossaries for each course.Based on these factors, my thinking is that we should instead link to an external glossary file (either a PDF or an HTML page), but I don't want to give up on the user being able to click words to see definitions without asking h

Does anyone have some helpful tips when using text to speech for when slides are copied (to preserve objects and actions), but audio is changed? When I copied a slide (b) from an existing slide (a) with an audio file generated from text-to-speech, and changed the text-to-speech for the next slide (b), the text was overwritten in slide (a). While the audio file was not overwritten, I was unable to change the text for the original slide (a) or print the text correctly for slide (a).Any suggestions to manage this more smoothly would be greatly appreciated.Thanks in advance!Amy

When I publish an exam using Captivate 6 on the MAC, the first and last slides have a "ghost" image of an item that i deleted earlier from the project. These two slides are the only regular slide in the project, with the rest being Quiz slides.I have tried inserting new slides and recreating them, but keep getting the same thing. There are no objects on the timeline, nor are these images visible on the slide until it is previewed or published. This also happened another time when i was duplicating slides in a project and then altering them. Any deleted items appeared as "Ghost" images when published.Below are screen shots. THe only things that should be visible on the slide are the border, the Start button, the product name (blurred out) and the words "Final Exam." When played, you first see the grey/black box in the first image and then that fades to the green lines in the second image.

Help! I have installed background audio on numerous slides in my presentation and today when I come back to the project, the audio is there but the checkboxes to control looping or removing background audio in the properties box are not active or working (they are just greyed out like there is not background audio at all). The background is there (i am listening to it) and on the slides I selected yesterday, i just cannot remove it from any of them or add it to any that were not selected yesterday. What would cause this??Any ideas??My deadline looms....

Hi,In Captivate 8 and 9 it is possible to publish directly to an app. The app provider used is Phonegap. I have tried to install it and get started but it is not that simple,  maybe I am doing it all wrong. It seems like you need to know java to be able to build your own app, is that correct? I thought it would be much easier to use this function. Can anyone explain to me how it works, please?/Lilli

I have an interactive video with 4 overlay slides, each of which is a quiz question. When I preview in the browser, the first overlay comes up fine, but the second one comes immediately after the first, instead of returning to the video for 8 seconds, and even if I answer the question on the 2nd overlay, it skips to the end of the timeline and doesn't play any more of the video at all. I have deleted the video and re-inserted it and still get the same results. You can see here on my timeline that the overlays are spaced apart... And each overlay's actions are the same - assign a variable if the user gets the question correct, and then move on.

Using Captivate 2017We will have three (3) quiz scenarios/slide for the learner to answer. We do not want any "default" feedback messages to show from the normal quiz captions as the quiz is taken (no correct, incorrect or incomplete feedback messages).Once the learner gets to the quiz results slide, we'd like to:1. Have custom feedback messages on the quiz results advising them which questions are correct and incorrect and why2. Have custom feedback messages appear on each quiz question slide if they click the Review Quiz button and review each quiz question slide. Custom correct and incorrect messages on each slide/scenario would advise why/give more detail as to why correct or incorrect.Thank you.

I have created a bunch of click boxes that each jump to a different slide. Those buttons were then grouped together in my timeline since there are so many. When I copy that group to a new slide, instead of showing that they jump to the specific slides, they just show "continue" instead. What am I doing wrong?

I am working with Captivate 2019 and publishing in HTML5 format. When I preview the output, everything looks great.  However, when I upload the published file to our server and try to access via browser, I just get a spinning icon.  This only happens about half the time, even though the settings for the files that are working correctly appear to be identical.  Any ideas on how to troubleshoot?
