Is there a way to lock the mesh on each of the parts on the puppets layers to eliminate the stretch of the mesh?I would like to keep each part from distorting create a more traditional 'cut-out' style animation. I have been experimenting with adding multiple bones but was not sure if there was a way to lock the entire layer's mesh.
How do I increase my timeline for my character scene? It's very short and I can't scale it like I could in premiere. So anytime I hit record my character will disappear because the scene doesn't take up much space in the timeline. Any tips would be appreciated!
No idea where to even begin, but using the "tutorial," I made my own puppet, did the "swapping" out with a blank puppet template. Saved the file. Come back an hour later, can't even open it. What a complete waste of 4+ hours this software has been.
Is there a possibility to control the eyebrows movement with a mouse or even better keyboard (up/down arrow or whichever)? I made them dragable but it's not very convenient cause if I have my head rotating it's dificult to match the position. Is there any way to lock the draging to only up and down relative to head?
CH crashes every single time that is link my document into the program from AI. I would change the file name of my AI document so that CH wont read the file when I run the program and CH then opens fine, and I then import the re-named AI document. However, when I have to edit the original document in AI of even re-open CH, the linking causes a crash. Any ideas?
Hello Everyone, I'm having trouble with the cycle layers for an eye blink. I believe I have everything set up right but the blinks are not coming in correctly. They look like the cancel out the eye. or the full blink happens and the frames of the blink happen on top it. oksamurai Any help would be great! Thanks! My Set up
This is a long way up from After Effects rigging and trying to do puppets there. A lot of hard work has gone into this and you guys keep improving all the time.I can give you details on this issue and the files but first, does Windows 10 have a problem importing the SRT files to use with the "compute lip sync take from audio and transcript"? SRT files do not show for import. Tried pasting a short text script into the "transcript" box I thought maybe my audio was too muddy becuase of being in a song - error message below - so I recorded the same in a "spoken" word track (not singing) with no backgroud music. The audio take was only about 18 seconds long. I got the same error message below. Error message: [Compute Lip Sync failed: Check that the transcript matches the audio.] Any assistance is much appreciated. The "compute lip sync take from scene audio works fairly well.
That's it. Doesn't work. Multiple CA projects, new, old, 2021 versions, 2022 versions, etc. Character builder projects. Stuff I've built with AI or PSDs. Everything. Nothing works. Stuff works great within CA. Can export as rendered file from CA as a workaround, but, dynamic link is a thing that we pay for, right? Fresh install of AE, CA, and Media Encoder on Windows 10.0.19042 Build 19042. Caches cleared. Restarted multiple times. Blah, blah, blah. Any insight is appreciated. Thanks.
I've found that replays are one of the best ways to get consistent, smooth animations out of my characters in scenes (body tracking made this an even more useful feature). The problem is when you run out of alphanumeric keys to use (A-Z and 0-9). Any additional replays, triggers and swapsets I've made since have had to go untied to any key and requiring me to unassign a key from one to use on another. With the amount of time that takes (not just the steps but the lag generated from a complex character), would it be difficult for our friends at Adobe to give us a Shift or Function key to hold down while pressing a key to double our options? Example:If I press "P" my character points with their left hand. It would be great if I could assign "Shift P" to point with their right hand.If I ask really nicely, could Adobe do that for us? 😄
Maybe someone has posted this or a similar solution, but I didn't see it. If there's a more efficient way, puh-leeze let me know! These are ears with parallax from the Face behavior that also swap back and forth from behind to in front of the face with Head & Body Turner behavior triggered by face tracking. The idea started rolling around in my head a month or so ago when the guys at Digital Puppets commented on YT that they use a form of this to get some of their puppets' noses to seem to turn. I had success using okaysamurai's Stan puppet. This method also worked well on more photorealistic ears--but it takes a lot of tinkering with the parameters and nudging the art around so all the instances of ears interect well. You may not find it worth the effort. 1) Create two ear groups, something like Front Ears and Back Ears--both independent. One group goes above (in front of) the face or, in Stan's case, his whole Head, and one goes below (behind). In each parent group, create Fr
Is it possible for a document thats corrupted in any way, and dynamically linked from illustrator into CH, end up crashing or glitching the CH program? Or even AE?
I'm fairly new to Ch (and PSD really) and would like my character's ears to appear behind the face in Frontal view but move slightly in front of the face when the head turns--this is a parallax head. I don't see a way to trigger a layer to change its heirarchy, and if I create an Ears group with head turn behavior, they would of course all be stuck in the same heirarchy. Unless someone knows otherwise, it seems like swap sets of copies of the ear art is the only way to go... I've more or less gotten it to work but only with button triggers, and I'd really like the trigger for the swap sets to be the actual head turns. Can I do this? I did watch Digital Puppets' short video on something similar but could not get it to work, so it seems I may be missing one key piece of info.
Hello all, I work on my puppets/character animator on my desktop computer, but sometimes I want to work on my laptop computer. Can I link the same file (save it on OneDrive or iCloud) and use it on either computer? I want to update and work on the puppet on either computer, and switch off as needed. Is mthis possible?

Hi all I try to create an anumated puppet which should look like this and have this typical fabric style. Do you think this is possible here or should I try to create this in photoshop first and move this in charactor animation? Thank you for your help
Hey guys, I need some help with Adobe Character Animator rigging here. I drew this character in Illustrator and rigged it in Character Animator like below, it was fine.Until I modified the artwork in Illustrator to add a card to the charcater's right hand like this. After I saved the file in Illustrator, the head, body and arms of the puppet was displaced in Character Animator like below.I wonder if that's what happens when we update the AI files after rigging the character, and are we not suppose to do so? Thanks for your help!
I was wondering if there is a keyboard trigger or something along those line to control head tilt without the use of a webcam. I am still fairly new at this program, so I have not found all of the shortcut keys yet. At any rate, I do not currently have a webcam to use for head tracking purposes so if there is a way to manually control this it would be immensely helpful. Also, just to clarify, I am on Windows with Adobe Character Animator CC Beta 5.Dustin
Where can I contact or email Adobe staff about problems getting technical support with Character Animator?Jeff
I'm proud to say I have really understood the basic layering and I have done a video on Youtube with just facing front. But now I'm trying to make a head turn but anytime I turn on my camera the head will just pull off from the body. I thought there was something I was doing wrong, I deleted the whole project started again and it's the same error. The neck and everything is tagged correctly so what is the problem?https://drive.google.com/file/d/13F_SPPMjYN-OewbELEVjmuI9QChXjwsn/view?usp=sharing
hello all first time question asker i have built a puppet and rigged it accordingly. now i recorded some audio at home and brought it to work as an mp3 file (which i have done in the past and it worked) and want to compute the lip sync from audio. when i do this, no visemes show up. now curiously enough if i use one of my older audio files from last month no problem, it works like a charm. to my knowledge the file is not corrupted or anything. ive gone through some of the other similar posts on here and tried all the solutions but nothing has worked. Attatched are the pictures of the rigging and the puppet showing now visemes in the audi lip sync bar. if anyone has any clue as to why it would work for a previous file but not from a recent file please let me know this is driving me crazy
Since re-rigging--including re-tagging and re-setting swap sets, triggers and track behaviors--is one of the largest tasks posted about here, I wonder if there could be a feature added in CH to "Create Rigging PDF" which would capture ALL ongoing rigging for a character. When forced by tragic circumstances to re-enter this data, the PDF could be referred to instead of memory or, in my case, multiple screen shots of the settings. Maybe this data is already together in a file somewhere? Thanks.
Hello everyone!I recently started using CC and I've been enjoying it a lot! However, I've been having this problem that when I add the walk behavior, It seems like the limbs get disconnected from the body.Does anyone have any idea how to improve this? I check the layers in .ai file and watch several tutorials, nothing really help. I don't know what to do!I appreciate any tip! For some reason Character Animator doesn't recognize my Yeti mic anymore. I never have this problem on my Macbook Pro or Air. Just my Windows PC for some reason. This just started happening a few days ago. It worked before.
I hope someone will please help me! I have been fooling with this for days, watching all the YouTube tutorials and troubleshooting and getting nowhere. You can see in the screen shot attached that clearly I have layers tagged as the pupils, for example, and yet, in the error messages it says I do not. I have a list of errors a mile long. I am in tears. I am supposed to be doing this for a client. Please help!
Hey team, wish you can help. I dont know why all my saved character animator scene will have this issue after a while. I did not change my PSD puppet folder file location but after a while, it will states as missing files on my character animator. This is not the first time and when it happens, it corrupts my completed scenes on after effect as well. This means I have to re-import the same puppet file again and re-rig everything. Can someone tell me what am I doing wrong or is there a way I should be saving my files?
