I'm currently working on a sheep puppet. For a walking character he's pretty simple. His job will be to fall from the top of the scene, bounce a few times, blink, baaaa, and then walk off the scene. I made his whole body draggable so that I can bounce him up and down in the scene. His eyes all work and blink great. He has no mouth so I don't have to worry about his mouth moving it will simply be an audio sound and I will make his head tilt just to add some movement. I actually got all 4 legs walking great and looking halfway desent when I click the arrow to have him walk. I would also like his long ears and legs to flop around while he's bouncing. For his legs I believe I would use limb LK? What about his ears? I'm thinking something similar to hair like dangle maybe?Link to sheep puppet
Hello, can someone help me please? Character Animator dont see my camera, only microphone, thanks
HiI did a bunch of work in the summer using CA and OBS to generate puppet annotated slides. Things ran a bit hot...but no real issues. Since then I have slightly upgraded memory in my computer and CA now no longer works. Both OBS and CA have had version upgrades since then. I tested CA and OBS separately and found that CA 3.4 doesn't really work on this setup. Did something in the version upgrade increase base processor load? Is there some way I can downgrade to a previous version of CA to test if that is the problem?
Hello,I have been following a tutorial to copy a mouth from an existing character. I've followed all of the instructions, but when I go back to CA, in rigging mode, the mouth group covers a large part of the face. So when I'm in record, my mouth is between my eyes. When I try to move it down, the neutral mouth is in the neck area. Do I need to resize this layer, is there a scaling option? Super frustrated. Thanks for any advice!
Why can't I rename the origin point in Ch 3.4? In 3.3 it's just fine. I pressed enter and I could rename the point. An added point (draggable point for example) is renamable, but an origin point is not. And is Limb IK can only see up to 2 handles only?I have 3 handles named fore, back, and default shoulder; fore, back, and default arm; and fore, back, and default wrist, but only 2 of them are recognised (the default and fore, but the back is not recognised). When I deleted two of them, the fore and the default, the back is recognised! What kind of sorcery is this??? Thanks!
I'm getting this error code when trying to open a project I've been working on for weeks. Two things have changed. I signed up for CC business licence and I changed the location of the file I'm trying to open from where I had it originally. Thoughts?
Hi, So it could be just me not getting some basic concept, but here goes: I'm trying to make a "trembling in fear" animation replay and I'm doing it using the X coordinate. Thing is, while it does work, everytime I trigger the replay, the puppet won't, like, stay where it is and tremble, it will go to the middle of the screen to do so. What I want is what you get with like a waving animation, which happens to the puppet independently of its position on the scene by using a thing that is connected to im (arm in waving). I don't know what I could use to make the puppet tremble like I want except not using the X cooridnate (position). What can I do, then? Use an invisible square tha'ts part of the puppet to animate the whole puppet trembling? Or is there a simpler way?
Hi there,Pretty much what the title says - it doesn't matter if I change the arm movement parameter to zero at the puppet panel or in the scene recording panel - or even in both of them. I want a satatic-arm walking animation and only this puppet of mine continues to move. Is it because in a different scene I made him move his arms while walking to test it out and never switched back to zero? If so, it would mean that the scene arm movement kind of overrides the puppet properties. The only thing I haven't tried yet is deleting the movement behavior and start from scratch. I tried to both link the independent arm to the body and not do so, which doensn't change anything and creating and deleting bones and hand markers for the limb IK, which doensn't change anything either. I'll tag the question as a bug just in case it turns out to be a weird bug.
This has been a long drawn out process but I think I'm getting close to having my first working puppet. As the title states I'm only having three problems currently. Below will be a link to my puppet so that everyone can see the rigging and set up and tell me where my problems are and how to fix them. Thank you in advance.Charlie Puppet
Hi community,I'm not sure if this is a possibility, but here goes.We use Zoom to run education sessions for students and I think the ability to live stream with character animator is great. I'd like to see if it's possible to run meetings/educational sessions as the puppet character. Has anyone else has any experience (or whether it's possible) to deliver a live meeting using Zoom.us as the puppet character from character animator? Would it work similarly like live streaming? (I haven't done live streaming before). At the moment, we use Zoom as a host and deliver the session with the webcam. And I'm wanting to know if there's anyway that instead of using the webcam to show myself, that Zoom.us would take a stream of the puppet character instead? Using Zoom because of the security measures. Thanks!
This is a puppet I made a while back for a project that I never followed through on. The great thing about it is that you can simply adjust a few sliders within Character Animator and change a lot of the puppet's appearance, from hair and skin colour, to clothing, to hairstyles and some accessories. Features -Happy and Sad mouths (press 0 to trigger sad mouth)-5 different hand shapes (press ASDFG or ZXCVB to see them all)-4 shirt and pants colours-Glasses, earrings, masculine and feminine eyelashes-Draggers at wrists and waist-Resize the pupils with a slider Grab it at Gumroad gum.co/theKid
Every day I have a new problem in Character Animator. I don't know what I can do, but i can't continue like that. For arround 2 weeks already, from time to time I have this message (that i attached here) and it comes one after another and not stopping until i close the program. What is it?
I'm wanting to pin the shoulders of my character so his head can move without his shoulders lifting off. I've done this before with the pin and stick tools, but nothing I try now is working.
I am still trying to get my character to do face turns, and I thought I had fixed the eyes to realise that most of my mesh is corrupted.1. I selected contour instead of Auto/Rectangle for most of the parts, but the mesh remains a large rectangle as you can see for the eye belowWhat I don't understand is why, when I zoom on the eye, the boundaries seem correct to me: 2. I looked for leftover pixels in Photoshop by adding a red backgound, but I can't seem to find any. If I select the Transform tool for the layer, the boundaries are correct (ie there is no leftover pixel outside the shape of the layer) I uploaded the puppet here:https://ln2.sync.com/dl/c4c6302f0/kdiamngg-7cgzix3e-cwvfs8mg-jjcti77e It drives me nuts because as soon as I figure out how to fix something, something else breaks. Thanks in advance if you can help
Hello, I am using prerecorded audio and i plunk it into the timeline and then plunk the puppet in. After doing extensive viseme work i realised the puppet doesn't reach the end of the audio take so some of the audio hs not got the autopmatic computed Visemes (lots of work). is there a way to compute take from just a final portion of audio without making a new track. ?
I worked for some days now to do the lip sync. and it started to look very good. today i opened it and discovered it Unsynchronized anymore. Seems like all the line went forward. but it is not easy to fix because i have 5 puppets and it happened in them all. so i went back in the history until it was ok. started to work and it happened again! fixed it, and again! and again! what can cause it to happen? it happened when i just worked on the lip sync.
I noticed my exported videos were looking a bit fuzzy on export. So I looked through the forums and saw the suggestion to try render as Vector. But when I did that it looks like it has removed the stroke fill from my line art. Looking for any solutions. Thanks!
Working on my first puppet. I got my first issue fixed and now I have a whole bunch of new ones. First when I wave it warps his whole body. Second he now has a bunch of rigging issues that the system picked up but I have no idea how to fix them. Some include his mouth movement which is driving me nuts. I used "Blank" as my template and moved things around from there to fit my character. Any help would be appreciated. I attached my puppets file, hopefully you all can open it and look at him.
Hello everyone,This is my first time making a puppet. I followed the video and frequently checked to make sure everything was working and it was coming a long great. The last things I added where the nose, hair and eyebrows and when I went to check to make sure it was all working my eyes are all over the scene and my eyebrows move all over as well. I'm not sure how to share things so you all can see my puppet and how he is put together but if someone can walk me through that I will get those posted. Thank you in advance.
Faced such a problem. When dragging the wrist, the elbow can stretch / contract (even if the arm stretch is 0) It doesn't look pretty when the forearm gets shorter than the distance from the elbow to the wrist
I was following the YT video on how to do head turns (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g1wbw6-7zM4&t=169s) and I got stuck when the face became all messed up when I move some layers into a new group called +Frontal as per the video. I uploaded a copy of the working puppet here: https://ln2.sync.com/dl/dcfa23190/2xk8c7ji-nb2tfy7i-hbugi588-nes47u6g as we can't upload puppet files here. The original puppet works as intended and there are no rigging issues. As soon as I try to move face layers into "+Frontal", everything becomes messed up. I think the reason for this is that in AI, you create a layer which gathers other layers, whereas in PS, you create a folder (new group) that messes up the puppet structure. So I tried a lot of combinations with AI and PS creating a new +Frontal folder. Original "blank" using the AI file = no issueOriginal "blank" using the PS file = broken face"mypuppet", based on "blank", in PS format = same broken face Any point in
I'm not sure if anyone else experiences this, but everytime I try and load in my Character Animator project into After Effects it just doesn't load, it just show the black screen background and the Transform Controls, but the character isn't in the Transform Controls. Any solutions?
Hi there,Since the import into After Effects via dynamic link is as bitmap - does a high quality setting in Character Animator (i.e. 400%) improve the quality of the puppets in the final export? I tested exporting two characters at different quality settings and coud not make out any difference.I'm fairly new to Character Animator and After Effects. For my project I have multpile puppets importet to AE via dynamic link. From my understanding the quality setting in CA impacts the rendering time in AE. If the output quality wouldn't be improved/affected it would make sense to use a lower setting in order to make rendering quicker. Thanks in advance
Hello,I'm trying to follow along with video, Limb IK (Adobe Character Animator Tutorial) Oct2020 but when I go to record mode pieces just stay where they are. I don't know if the limbs are too short? stubby? mesh looks good.trying, but getting frustrated.. have two more characters to do
