My puppet does a downward slump when it begins to walk. I've checked all of my tags and moved some around but can't get around the problem. Also, when I select "run" the legs really get crazy so I'm doing something wrong but can't quite figure it out.
What am I doing wrong? The auto attachment is on as well so what gives. I've placed the "origin" in all different positions but no luck. Please assist and thanks.
I'm using shareable option for the heads of my characters. but now I am facing the problem that after every change of the AI-File the information about the position of shareable parts gets lost and I need to position them again. Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong?
Need info on importing character audio takes. When I import .wav files created in Audition, Ch closes before audio is analyzed for lip sync. I've tried this over and over and over again. I've followed all tutorials I can find on the subject. What the heck am I doing wrong. Recording from timeline works perfectly as a side note.
Hi Character Animator Team!I love the new features and I really like to work with this software.I have a new project: I want to animate a group of dringking glasses , they will dance to music. The glasses are the heads and they have liquid inside. I applied a dangle behavior to the liquid, so the liquid can bounce around inside the glass when it moves. I also appiled a clipping mask to the liquid, so it only is visible inside the glass. But the glass ist semi-transparent, so the mask is visible behind the glass-layer. Any idea to solve this problem?RED is the clipping maskGREEN is the liquidPSD file:CH puppet:recorder window: (I want the red mask to be invisible)Kind regards!Christian
Magents from layers that are hidden still affect other magnets. You would expect that if you hide a given layer with a magnet tag, it would no longer have an affect on other magnet-tagged layers/handles, but they do. As a workaround, I've had to clone the puppet and turn off the magnets on the hidden layers, which is less than ideal.
Hi; I am brand new to Character Animator. I've designed a puppet, and I thought I'd followed all the rules, however, the eyebrows are moving sideways instead of up and down. I can't for the life of me figure out why or how to fix it. Help, please!
pretty self-explanatory problem. I would like my head to not morph around the 2 points it seems to be morphing around. on the frontal view, they show up on my fox's right cheek and left eye.
The PSD-CharacterCooker workflow is available. It's a huge timesaver to populate your scenes with different characters. In theory anyone can setup a workflow like this, but I did the work for you.Change the masters and export the layers to the right folder. Puppets will inherit all behaviors that are allready assigned to the templatepuppet, and of course you can add your own. Warmly embraced by the CH team. Watch the tutorial and convince yourself.
Hi guysI need help and maybe some of you will know the answer to my problem. PROBLEM:Even when my puppet is pinned to the floor, every time I want my puppet to bend down to the right, legs get off the floor and also start pointing right. Just like in the screenshots. I tried to play with my puppet's main origin point but without a success. I tried it with and without walk behalvior.Maybe some of you had a similar problem and found a solution to it?Here's a link to my puppet (I couldn't attach my puppet to this post):https://www.sendspace.com/file/wc92gsThx in advance.
PSD-CharacterCooker is avialable now! Easy to use. Featured by the team ! Mentioned by Okaysamurai !It's available! @DaveWerner allready mentioned it in the latest CommunitySpotlight ! round minut 7.Even more than the Adobe Animate version of #CharacterCooker 1, this PSD version is an easy to learn massive timesaver when it comes to quickly build new puppets to populate your artwork. Curious how it works? Sit back a few minutes and watch this tutorial that ships with the package.
I was editing a puppet for Character Animator in Photoshop, the only thing that was changed is the color of the hand, now when I make the puppet point the hand disappears. What did I do wrong?
CA 2020Trying to have my characters arm hit a drum. I have 3 layers in a group. I added Cycle Layers to the group. Cycle once, top to bottom, forward and reverse, advance every 7 frames--all typical settings. No matter what changes I make, the result I'm getting is that it shows only the first layer for the 7 frames then it disappears.I've tried combinations of showing/hiding the group, individual layers and combinations of independence. None of those combinations change my result. Just seeing one layer, not the others.
I just put out a 12 minute documentary, told in the words of the subject, folk musician Phil Ochs. All the audio was cut together from random public domain YouTube interviews and performances from the 60s and 70s, and it's bookended by audio from the tragic last year of his life with the middle chunk explaining who he was as an artist and why he was culturally relevant in his era/ how culture and politics wore him down. In regards to Character Animator, I did everything in Illustrator and made heavy use of the Wiggler behavior to give a bit more life to the animations, including the backgrounds. It was largely done prior to 3.0 so there's a lot of functions I didn't get a chance to use for this project, but I thought Ch is the perfect vehicle for doing documentary animation in the same vein as Mike Judge's "Tales From The Tour Bus" series. Let me know what you think!
I have a puppet where the left side of his body isn't rising up with the rest of the body. This is my layout. What am I doing wrong?
Hi. Since I started using Creative Cloud Character Animator 3.1 my IMAC fans go super loud as soon as I launch it. I tested opening the same project in 2.11 and fans are quiet as a mouse. It seems 3.1 is drivng the system very hard? It is reporting in Activity monitor over 200% CPU usage!? Problem is that I can not record audio with such loud fan noise. My machine is Late 2015 iMAC 3.2 Ghz Quad Core i5 with 32Gb memory. Anyone else having similar issues?
I have a big problem trying to open a Ch A. project. I get the following error:There is a solution to this error, the files are saved on an external disk, I suppose there must have been a communication error?
Hello, I have two questions: Is it possible to have a bidirectional workflow between After Effects, Character Animator, and Premiere Pro? Or, is it only one way... i.e. out of Ch to the others? Also will a Camera I create be exported into AE?Thanks in advance for your help.Regards,Rajnesh
Hi Character Animator customers! For a couple of versions now, we've been seeing a crash where V8 (the JavaScript engine we use which runs the code for puppet behaviors in your scenes) complains it is out of memory. We've seen in once in house, but haven't had any luck cornering it. I'm creating this thread as a support link for the crash reporter bucket containing these crashes. If you also inspect the crash reports you send to Apple and you find any of these names in it, please get in touch by replying to this thread. v8::base::OS::Abort v8::Utils::ReportOOMFailure v8::internal::V8::FatalProcessOutOfMemory v8::internal::Heap::FatalProcessOutOfMemory I would love to corner this bug and squash it so it stops biting our customers. Does anyone know if CA will be getting multiple types of pin tools like After Effects any time soon? Having a starch pin type would make life easier 🙂
Hey everyone, I am in the process of creating a show with multiple similar characters, mostly kids. I have been working on setting up the layers and rig for the Main character's puppet, and was wondering on what is the most efficient way to create other characters without having to create everything from scratch. Any thoughts?
So here's the thing: I have:1. Direction Front (The Body and Bottom facing to the front)2. Direction Right (The Body and Bottom facing to the right side of the character) I put the two layers inside a Swap Set and have the Direction Front layer as the default, which means the Direction Right layer is now hidden until I trigger it. In the Direction Right layer, I have an arm which I rigged with sticks and draggable points, like usual. And so is the same with the Direction Front layer, which is obvious of course, hehehe. When I do some dragging with the Direction Front layer, the draggable area in the Direction Right layer is also dragged. How to make hidden layers undraggable without deleting the draggable points?Thank you!
I accidentally stuck 3 pins on a layerHow do I clear them?
I'm trying to create a character that has stick-on googly eyesI would like the pupils to have a little jiggle like real googly eyesIt seems that physics has no effect on a pupil(I cannot get anything to work)Any suggestions on what to try?
I would like to make 2 versions of the same animation. Is there a way to make one complete scene, then swap the puppet or artwork from a puppet and keep all the same lip-synching and audio?
