I'm trying to decide the best way to record dialogue between two puppets - they are both on screen simultaneously and need to have proper timing between voice and movements. My question is how do I record audio for multiple characters on screen and get the timing right?Thank you
The head blinks along with the eyes - blink is having issue. I've done this many times now and it should be easy at this point. Are my layers in wrong order?
As the title says: My puppets won't stop walking. The walk-behavior is set to move only when pressing the arrow keys (in both rig mode and record mode). But when I deactivate recording the walk behavior my puppet starts to walk immediatly. This makes recording the dragger impossible! I also can't record any bodyspeed, because while pausing, the puppet simply walkes outside the frame. And finally, and most infuriating, when I want to look at my recorded session, while simply moving frame by frame through the scene, it also walks, regardless whether walking is recorded in this particular frame or not. I saw a tutorial where Dave Werner stopped in the middle of a step. What am I doing wrong?EDIT: I disabled the eye-symbol on the right, so it won't walk at all, this helps with recording the dragger-behavior, but not with my other problems.
When will there be a definitive Character Animator CC manual? There are little tips and tricks in various places, but it be nice if it was all corralled into one easy to find source. They would sell a lot more Character Animator software if they did.
I created a simple character in Illustrator that I imported into Character Animator. I want to be able to use the webcam to move the head, blink the eyes, and open and close the mouth. I put each shape onto its own layer and saved the file as a .AI file.1. Is there anything else I need to do to prepare the file in Illustrator for use in Character Animator?2. Do I need to make separate layers with eye lids for when the eye will blink?3. Can I import a .AI file that contains multiple artboards, and select a single artboard that has a background, and multiple characters and somehow animate each character individually, and export the whole piece as a video? Thanks.
Hello everyone how you doing ? I have a question for my project , I just started to learn Character Animator the day before and how to move the character but I wanted to put another character in my scene so 2 persons in one scene and control them by my face and voice so is that possible ? if yes can you briefly tell me how ? just briefly . Thank You
I experimented with the Wendigo Monster to get some balloons behind his back and present them to the audience (the character is from the pdf tutorial you can find here Character Animator Examples under Additional Puppet Resources)It consists of 3 Wendigo-Sets as there is one just to get the ballloons in front of his face. However if I want to switch from the Charakter where the balloons are behind his body to the one where they are infront, the arms don't line up(they are in the last spot I had them but I want to move them together so that the switch is hardly visible. I think I overlooked something but maybe someone here can help me. I probably need this action for an upcomming project (not with Wendigo but with some own charakters) so I would love to know where the error is?I have attached the puppet for you to take a look at. https://adobe.ly/2RychM4Thanks for your help
I tried making new scene and puppet and its and adding triggers in the rig and not being able to find the keyboard trigger behavior in the recording section. Please help!
We are putting together an exhibit booth for Cyber Security Awareness Month at our college and I'm using a live interactive puppet to answer students' questions as they're walking by. Using our campus wireless system, I've been able to get CH video out from a Mac laptop to another running NDI Monitor connected via NDI to a big flat screen, but the audio isn't moving. I've been trying SoundFlower and oSD and can finally move audio over wired HDMI (using the big screen as a second display), but the setup may not let the CH computer be that close to the screen. I've been using the Apple MIDI utility to aggregate my outputs to see if that will help, tooIs there any trick for getting NDI to move the audio or is this something that can't be done yet? At the moment, I'm planning to use a second wireless mic and speaker by the flat-screen to work around it. Thanks,Ric
Hi,My Character Animator is giving problems when I make changes to my puppet in Illustrator and save it. Instead of applying the changes to the current puppet it imports a new puppet and just ads a number sequence to the name. For example Charlie would be imported as Charlie 2, Charlie 3 and so it continues.. The problem doesn't stop there, even if I don't save anything out of Illustrator and just make a change in Character Animator a new version of the puppet is imported. Can anyone please help me with this? Any enlightenment would be greatly appreciated!
I've added this as a Suggestion, but I would like to know what others think? In other face animation type apps, they have a tendency to use selectable and dragable tracking dots. These are used to define the face feature ie, click on the side of the mouth and side of eyes. These points are then used for future animation.Ch's Face Tracking is very good and a big plus against other programs, but think it could be a whole lot better if the tracking dots, could be selected, moveable and then their position confirmed against the Puppet and your own face in the Camera view. The Tracking Dots seem to be grouped... eye.. nose.. mouth... head etc.. If the Tracking Dots could be selective and confirmed in position as described above, then the potential to improve the quality of the tracking and the use of this improved tracking to trigger animations could be significantly improved.I have two suggestion:1. Use the Auto Face Tracking to detect the facial feature and then give the user th
Hello,I have a character that has a frontal, left profile and right profile. I have rigged it to walk and change view direction when the left and right arrows are pressed. It works great. I was also able to rig a head turn left and right with a keyboard trigger. I can't seem to figure out how to make the character turn their body to the left, or right without walking. I need the walk behavior, but I also need to switch direction without walking as it will be talking to another character. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,Troy
Many Times when I resize the scene, especially making it smaller, the scene panel will be partialy off the screen (at least). Is there an easy fix to this issue? Thx
I have an updated puppet that I am using in my project and the new puppet has some slight differences in the rigging to the old one. Is there a way to taking an existing recorded behavior that is now labeled unknown and tell it what behavior it is for? Example: I recorded right quarter right arm animation but now it is labeled RQ R Arm to keep the tables short. Is there a way to tell the original recording to apply it to this differently labeled arm?Appreciate any help you can provide. Thanks
Can anyone please answer what should be a simple question but I cant find the answer on google....? How do I purchase Character animator? I have illustrator, photoshop and animate, but would like Character Animator as well... it doesn't seem to be an option to add it on its own to add it to my package? Thanks
I am new to Photoshop but found its brushes far superior to Illustrator for my character. I added an overall effect layer to the character and a mask. However, when I imported the character into Character Animator, the mask is not applied (a rough grey edge appears around the character) and the effect/shading do not show. I was able to flatten one of the layers separately with the effect layer and it showed on Character Animator, but would have to do that for each layer and piece it back together, plus would still be left with mask issue. I attached screenshots of the issue. I appreciate any advice you have to offer concerning the mask and/or effect so I can start animating.Thank you! This is how it appears in Character Animator , which is far from how it looks in Photoshop with effect and maskUPDATE: I have figured out the effect issue, but still need help getting the mask to apply to the character in CA
I'm having some trouble with my character arms not attaching properly. I think it's something to do with the fact the when I click on the head layer in the puppet panel the yellow outline goes around my whole character rather than just the head and the same thing happens if I click on the body, the yellow outline goes around the whole body character rather than just the body.Any ideas?

Hi there! So I'm working on a project for work with a little animation of this character we are creating. I noticed when I was working that I got an error about Adobe not being able to sync a few files ( I was saving everything in the CC). Well, today, when I have to deliver the project the file gives me this error:libgit2 error -3(9/Object not found - no match for id (9e788113526effc2ce3ab010aaf282c48c942be9)) returned from git_revparse_single(&headP, repoP, specZ)Please tell me there's a way to recover the project! Thank you.
HelloI have a scene with 4 puppets in. One is a bird. I want it to fly in from the side and land on a puppets shoulder. All 4 characters speak, even the bird. How do I animate this? If I dynamic link to AE, it doesn't let me keyframe a single puppets position. Do I need to export multiple takes of the scene with different visibility for each character and then composite them in AE? Or could this be done in CA?Bets RegardsMikkel

I'm making a very simple animation and have good success creating the character and making triggers and getting to to perform. It's a vey few seconds of recording but when I try to record CH crashes. Not every time. I have gotten a little bit to save but then if I record a little more, Ch crashes. Or after I record then try to delete what I recorded it crashes. I'm afraid it may be the limits of my computer. I'm working on a Macbook Pro. An older one so I wonder if it doesn't have what it takes to use CH. I run every other Adobe app just fine including Premiere Pro, After Effects and Animate. So i wonder what's going on with CH? So if it's my computer please let me know. Here's the config:MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Early 2015)10.12.6 (16G1510)3.1 GHz Intel Core i716 GB 1867 MHz DDR3Intel Iris Graphics 6100 1536 M13.3-inch (2560 x 1600)500 GB Flash StorageAny help is appreciated.Terry
I recently learned character animation cc and made a small sample. Forgive me for the audio is Chinese, because my English is really not very good. ! !
Layer naming is correct.Left and Right pupil movement is correct for the right eye.Puppet behaves well except for the forward eye position. As you see in the image below, the right eye moves upward but sometimes it also looks forward in the correct position. Earlier I accidentally had the right eye selected when I used the Pin Tool to add a fixed point. I have since deleted that point and added a new one with the Character selected. Any help to get that right eye to stop looking up is appreciated.
