I'm getting kinda frustrated with my puppet. I want her to blink and move her eyebrows while walking, but I can't seem to make it work. Is it even possible? I tried to copy from "Maddy" the photographed puppet of an older tutorial, but she doesn't blink either. There's "Walk" on McGirlface (see below), "Eye Gaze" on each of the three profiles and "Headturn" on each Head-Group. Only the "Default"-Profile works, because I didn't set any direction for it. In the other Profiles she only blinks, when the head is turned into the "Left" position. If I put "Left Quarter" above "Left" it only works in "Left Quarter", so it only works on the top Headgroup. What can I do now to make her blink and move her eyebrows regardless of the head position?
I created a character on illustrator, very detailed, my problem is that nothing is even moving, or moving correctly, or placed in the same spot as the source image, or in the right layer. It seems as if it wants me to modify the existing layers rather than let me create my own layers. I would rather not make the mouth from scratch 10 times. Photoshop doesn't work for me since it wants to blur my character and turn everything green. So far I've even tried remaking the character piece by piece and assigning parts. That didn't work either...I then tried using just the mesh, but it won't let me edit besides say here is where this and that is. The tutorials do not seem to cover this nor do YouTube help videos. How do I place a character and overwrite the images they use on illustrator?
First time here, probably super-noob question:I edited the original .AI file of a character, and after saving I lost most of the work I did in character animator (I knew this could happen if I change the name of the layers - which I did - so I expected it).I adjusted everything but the nose is not showing up when I am acting my character (it shows in the "rig" tab, it doesn't show in the "record" tab). When I try to select the layer of the nose to edit it, some other layers are selected. Here's a link to an image of what I see when I select the NOSE layer Here the "tree" of the layers, which I have created respecting the naming you suggest in a page in the forum. Thank you very much,Alessio
I'm started to work on creating different eye expressions for a couple characters in Photoshop to use in Animator for a Youtube video. However although I've seen tutorial videos that show how to create the character face and making different mouth's for the different sounds. When it comes to eyes, the only videos I've seen show static eyes, where only the eye brow and pupil move and that's mostly done automatically by Animator by using its settings. Except I want to have extremely expressive eyes for my character. But I also don't want to waste my time creating a variety of expressive eyes, if they'll be useless in Animator. So I'd like to know if Animator can be used to change and morph a basic set of character eyes to show a variety of expressions and if so how do I make use of such a feature? Or do I indeed need to make individual sets of eyes to show elaborate expressions to use in Animator?
Hi!I am having a very frustrating issue. When I'm trying to launch Character Animator on my PC it will just get to the starting screen and while I can see the starting screen I can't interact with it and it freezes until it shuts down automatically without any error message.I have tried to uninstall and reinstall several times. I have also tried to use the earlier versions. I have also tried to run every version as administrator but it makes no difference. I am just trying to start a blank project so there shouldn't be any problems regarding the program having to process some old files from an earlier project.I can use Character Animator without any problems on my iMac which is on the same network.Hoping to get some help so I can solve this issue relatively fast!
This is my very first time creating an animated character. I basically used the default BlankFace.psd file and created a face background and a neck-and-shoulders. When I don't use the neck-and-shoulders, the character animates just fine. However, when I add the rest of the character, there's distortion near the eyes, and the head doesn't stay connected to the neck. How can I fix this? Thanks!
I would like my layers to remain their original but simply have joints (bending points) that don't stretch or manipulate the layer's properties. Thank you in advance.
Hi, after a couple of frustrating days I am reaching out! I have exhausted the forums (I think!) and have tried all the usual rebooting, uninstalling, opening from different locations etc. I saw a problem in another thread that had a problem with the AppPrefs.xml, and saw the following in the Sample Process that I ran:-Attemptying to Copy from /Users/X/Library/Preferences/Adobe/Character Animator/1.1/AppPrefs.xml to /Users/X/Library/Preferences/Adobe/Character Animator/1.5/AppPrefs.xml<140735153242112> <MigratePrefs> <5> Copy FailedI could not find the file AppPrefs.xmlI also checked file and folder permissions as suggested in another thread. I am an artist and can noodle around behind the scenes but am not really sure what to take from the diagnostics reports. I have included the terminal report and I can link to the Debug Database and the Sample Process also. This is the info on my computer. I was worried about enough RAM but have not s
Hello guys,I tried to recreate the Walker puppet from Okay Samurai. Unfortunately, the puppet does not react like the original, as you can see here in the video. The crazy running behavior is probably because the feet are not tagged correctly. The twitches on my head I don't understand, especially since the blink layers are set in my opinion. Can anyone please help me?The puppet file can you find here.https://drive.google.com/open?id=15C32P33migxh-ECAFMIt4orlj1VHEmH3I did this once in the Animate CC section because there is no character animator in the sections. Corrects that if it's wrong I wish you a relaxed daythank you
Hello, does any of you know that you can change the language from German to English at Character Animator? I mean the voice input via the microphone. I want to make English-language videos, and somehow that does not translate well to the puppet. I would also switch the whole program to the English language, but I have not found anything about it either. Can someone help me? Many ThanksGabi(Windows 10)
Having fun getting into walk cycles finally. The only thing I can't figure out is how to limit head movement during cycles. During the normal walk i'm OK but any other styles my head and neck are all over the place. Is there a way to fix this?
Have suffered what seems to be a pretty catastrophic loss to my Ch project, upon opening I get 'sorry, this project is too old to open in this version of the app (no git refs found with version information). I've had several messages during my attempts to fix the problem, all mentioning libgit2 and the like. I think the issue stems from the project living in my CC folder and from what I've read, this can cause issues if a component file becomes out of a sync.Have tried:Reinstalling ChRolling back to previous versions of the file (even my oldest version has the same problem)Disabling file syncAdditionally, I'm getting the same After Effects dynamic link project error when trying to work with an Ae project that references the Ch file, as discussed here:AE cannot connect to CA dynamic link Would really appreciate any pointers on how I can recover my project!Gareth
Hi, I'm attempting to open a project that was saved on google drive for me to download. the other animator saved the project with project file, CH Data folder and CH Media. when I attempt to open it, this is the error I receive.Internal error code: (726879107:1377+24)sorry, this project is too old to open in this version of the app(no git refs found with version information). The thing is, the other animator is using the same beta 6 version i am and is also on a mac (like me)any ideas?thanks in advance,td
Windows 10 1709 fully patchedAdobe Character Animator CC 2018 (1.5)No font manager, no fonts removed.Tried importing Myriad Pro from an 1803 machine and no success, don't have older version of CA available to install.
As the title states, I am wondering if it is possible to limit head movement to one particular axis? As an example, if I wanted to only move my head left and right, on the X axis, without moving up and down, even slightly, is there a way to set this up. I have spent many hours trying to find a way around it, as well as searching the Ch community for an answer, but no luck. I've tried sticks, pins, and I even tried to set up as a walk cycle, and control the movement with the arrow keys, but again that didn't work. If there is a work around, or legitimate way to do this, then I would much appreciate it. I almost have a perfected recreation of a character from an already animated character. It is quite exciting, just fan art related purposes, as well as technical breakthroughs with multi parted character design, which I will share on YouTube soon, once we figure this out. Thanks you. Also, if there isn't a way for this to happen, then consider this a feature request. Lockable axis for head
So I'm making my first character in Character Animator CC and I cant get the eyebrows to work independently of each other. If I raise one eyebrow myself they will both raise. I've checked my tags and I think they are tagged correctly. I'm not sure what I'm missing. I'd be grateful for any help! Cheers! Here is a screen shot of my tags: https://imgur.com/a/QhxH1BK
I think this question was asked a year or two ago. Can you copy visemes from one character to another? If so, how?-Sharon
Hello, I produce a youtube show where I use character animator to animate puppets of a freind and I that provide commentaryheres an exampleSega Racers for DOS - Sega Races to the bottom - Game Pulp Adventures - YouTube Normally I record the puppet performances in character animator and then import them into after effects to composit them with other elements, however with the new non beta character animator, the .chproj files that were produced, the ones with our performances, and the ones that I usually import into after effects directly, are now 0 bytes, and after effects simply says 'the project could not be opened'is there something Im missing here? Has anybody else had this issue?thank you
Hello, when I added a dangle handle to an object it stopped responding to gravity and other physics properties. What did I do wrong?https://gph.is/2MJ1M6f
Hi, I'm having trouble with my penguin puppet, I can't move the eyes or eyebrows, the rest is working great, can anyone please help Dropbox - pinguino.ai and this is the project Dropbox - pinguino.chproj
I recorded a scene in Character Animator, it looked great, but when I sent it to adobe media encoder, my puppets limbs stretched up and one of his arms twisted. If I don't see that in the recording, why does it do that after it renders? I did four different recordings with the same puppet and got the same result each time, I used a different puppet in a different scene and sent those 4 recordings to media encoder with it but those came out perfect. How can I prevent that from happening? I thought maybe it could be fixed in the rigging, but I can't see anything obvious. I am wanting to import them into Premier Pro cc which I have with no problem, but I don't want my puppet to look all twisted up and stretched when I have worked so hard to make the recordings to what I thought was good. I'm new to Ch so I'm hoping it's a simple thing I missed or overlooked.
Upon clicking on a project, or the Character Animator icon on my desktop i instantly recieve an error that says "Unable to Create Font".Character Animator does not proceed to the launch screen and nothing happens after I click OK.I don't believe anything has change with the fonts on my PC, and this only happened recently.I have tried holding Shift, Alt, and Shift+Alt after clicking on the icon to attempt to start a new blank project or get anything to happen.Any ideas what may be causing this? Thanks!
Hi,In CA, I'm wondering if you can modify a stick after it as been placed in a rig. I can't seem to figure out how or if it is possible. What's the skinny on this? Thanks.
