Hi all,Spent some time creating blink cycle layers. When the character blinks the pupils and eyeballs disappear creating an interesting lizard-like effect but not what I'm looking for in this case.Is there something I have to adjust so one can still see the pupils and eyeballs behind the lids while they close and open? Thanks!
Hello Everyone,I'm looking for opinions and feedback on animating limbs, specifically arms. Character Animator does great on animating faces, lipsyncs, and walk cycles, but I find it challenging to animate the limbs exactly how I want them. I'm finding it easier to use After Effects for the limbs to ensure it hits the mark exactly when I need it.How does everyone else animate limbs?Does anyone have any best practices for the limbs in CH?
Okay, maybe I'm an idiot, but when I drag a puppet into a scene, I can't figure out how to do basic things like scale and resize or even position the puppet in a scene. As well, I want to add background images / objects / videos to the scene. But I can't seem to figure out any of the basics one would expect with scene layout. What gives?
I'm getting a lot of dropped audio while recording audio / animation. I have an early 2015 Retina MacBook Pro, which is not that old. However, Character Animator doesn't seem able to keep up. Why is Character Animator so taxing on system resources, and can anything but the latest and greatest hardware actually use it? Are there ways to tune performance?
Hi colleagues,Could you please advise who can do my own puppet with my realistic behavior based on video with me? And how much it will cost? I have my video as a resource for body or face parts. I know about tutorials. But I want to entrust work to more mature Photoshop user than me. Thank you very much for any advice or help offer.
Hey, as a school project I chose to make a simple videogame, and for animating my character I use Adobe Character Animator. I have set up my walking and all perfectly, but I don't know how to export it to become a spritesheet or a set of PNG's to import to Unity. The only solution I've thought about is to perfectly record the character walking and then exporting it, but I was wondering if there is a simpler way to do it.
Hello all. I'm encountering this strange issue with walk behaviour where it doesn't activate. It's happening to a project I've created and rigged. At first I thought it was because I made some sort of mistake creating and rigging the character, but then I discovered that it exists even when I use the official Adobe templates. I've uploaded a video to illustrate the issue. In the video, you'll see that I open up a template (Maddy) with working walk behaviour. As soon as I delete the walk behaviour and re-add it, it stops working. I've tried deleting and re-installing CA but no dice. Not sure why it is doing that and any help would be appreciated. Changes I make sync in rig mode, but when I import it into a scene they don't, as if I never changed anything, though it shows my changes in the rigging panel. (To be specific: I use ProCreate to draw and export it as a PSD, in CH I use a template puppet that I import and I re-link it to the ProCreate .psd, I also tried replacing the psd files in Gathered Media with my own, still doesnt work.) Is there a way I can fix this?
Hi!I am trying to use dynamic link in my current workflow but whether I try to import a character into AE or Premiere Pro the file in question is so slow to update it is pretty much unusable. I have searched on the forums but the only answers I can find refer to dynamic link not working at all.Does anyone have any tips or potential fixes in this regard? My PC is not cutting edge but I have an Nvidia 1070 with 32 gigs of ram and a fair enough CPU (quad core 4.0) so I wouldn't expect this to be something my computer will struggle with.Hope I'm explaining myself okay. To reiterate - CH puppets show up in both programs but just don't update fast enough to work with. Thanks!
Finally Finished a 8Bit style animation using CA..
Hi,On a new project, the trigger panel is empty. There are no triggers and swap sets. But the + buttons are also invisible. They only appear when you created a first trigger or swap set.(you can still drag a layer to the panel, but + is more discoverable in terms of UX for new users)--> Can you show the + buttons in an empty trigger panel?
I see this conversation repeatedly, but haven't found an answer that solves my problem. I will happily be pointed to an existing thread or tutorial.I've got a Head Folder and a Body folder inside a +Character folder. I've checked and the Body layer is tagged to the Body tag in Properties (I've tried this by tagging the Body layer, the Body folder and both layer and folder tagged and with neither all with the same results). I've highlighted the Body folder in the Puppet window and pinned it along the bottom. But still the body moves with the head. What might I be doing wrong?I'm happy to provide additional information. I've attached a frame grab of my puppet structure.Martin
Hi,I have a character sitting at a desk: arms lean on the desk. When the head moves, the body moves. But the arms keep sliding across the desk as well. In reality, the hands stay fixed on the desk and the arms bend to compensate for body movement. I tried pinning both hands with a "fixed" tag, but they still slide a little. Is there any way to fix this? Thanks!Sander.
I'm re-doing my characters and making test renders for my voice actors, and I had a very successful test with the first one, but this 2nd one, the head just keeps distorting in front view and I can't figure out why Prince.zip - Google Drive Here's the more successful one rendered out KingTest.mp4 - Google Drive
I've got Surprised in my mouth folder and if I click on it in Rig mode, it highlights in the tags window appropriately. But sometimes it works in record and sometimes it goes away. I cannot figure out what is causing this. Smile works all the time and I can't find anything different about how they represent in the various parts of Rig mode or Record.Any ideas or anything I should check?Martin
I opened Character Animator for the first time and it immediately came up with an error message. I then tried to import my character and came up with thisI tried to import Wilk to see if it was just my illustrator file and I got the same error message. What do?
I get Character Animator locking up (Windows blue spinning busy disk) frequently. If I save a file in illustrator (puppet), it usually comes back in under 10 seconds, but every so often I leave it for a minute and still busy. I can also add a dangle (hang), remove a pin (hang), etc. I would get a hang every 5 minutes at least. When this happens I click the close the window cross (top right corner), wait for Windows to ask "do you want to close or wait", exit, restart, try again.I am running Windows 10 Pro, 2 CPUs, 16GB RAM, new Microsoft Surface Pro. Seems to be spare memory etc.Just wondering if other have the same frequently of hanging or whether there is something else I should be looking into specific to my environment? Seems to happen with any files I try (e.g. using downloaded puppets as well as ones I draw myself).
I have these big sleeves for my character. I have made arms that go underneath and you use these to bend control the arms.I want to make the sleeves loose feeling with dangle physics. I don't want the dangle effect to affect the actual arms, so both are independent. I have attached the origin of the sleeves to the draggable point on the hands. However, it doesn't attach to the shoulder so it just floats around hanging on the hand. Is there any way I can work around this
Hi, I don't have an existing problem but I've been thinking about how to attach a prop to a character that animates as part of the head turn. With my existing knowledge I don't believe there is simple functionality for something like this? And I would basically like to know if anyone has any ideas on how to do this.As an example, if I have a character with the 5 head positions animated by head movement on the webcam. I want to be able to press a trigger and have it attach something like a pair of glasses, or a hat. I then want that prop to stay attached when the characters head turns, but for it to also be animated with 5 positional frames that stay attached to the head. Any ideas would be super appreciated.
OK, first, I know this is me and not the software. But I still can't figure it out. Character Animator seems to not want to import an mp4 file, but I can't find a way in Premiere (where my audio originates) to export another sort of audio file, like aiff. I've been exporting from Premiere and then using a third party app to convert the file, but I know there's an easier way. What am I doing wrong?Martin
Hello. I have been trying to figure out how to accomplish this effect that I have been seeing with a few Adobe character's.They have an animated scene that lets they character "fly off and on" to different scenes. Here is a Youtube video showing an example of exactly what I am trying to accomplish. Can you explain how I can re-create this effect using Character Animator? Thanks in Advance!
Hi, I've encounter this bugs a few times over the last few months so i decided to ask if anyone know how to fix this. This happened when my .AI file and Ch puppet don't sync correctly. So I made a change (create new layers) in the AI file then when come back to Ch, the changes didn't appear... Ch just froze. So I restart Ch and then it took a long time (3-5 minutes) to successfully launch. Then it give me an error message"Couldn't find required path..." then point to the AI part(s)/layer(s) that didn't appear on the puppet in Ch Project. Then it start to clone itselfFor example:PuppetName (original)PuppetName 1PuppetName 2PuppetName 3....etcThe weird thing is that the clone puppet actually had the latest sync from the AI file. In some cases, this isn't a big deal if you just start recording. But the problem for me is that I already finished recording on the original puppet. So the latest changes from the AI file didn't get into my recording. Nothing I tried has worked so far... Restarti
As requested by Dave, I'm posting these video screen captures of a possible bug in the recording of a walk cycle in ChA. In the video below, you'll see that I first record a normal walk cycle, choosing to begin the cycle using the arrow keys, without any change to the Arm Angle (yes, it is not the default arm angle created when rigging, but please don't assume that this in any way helped to create these problems. My experiments showed that this didn't matter). The playback of this first recording didn't show any problem. Next recording, I hit the record button, then highlighted the clockface for the arm angle, then hit the arrow key. I then changed the arm angle and left the clockface icon highlighted. You will see that the arms begin to circle continuously. But, strangely, upon playback, this circling behavior was not recorded. In the third recording, I try to show how highlighting and de-highlighting the clockface affects recording and
Ah, D, Ee, F, L, M, Oh, R, S, Uh, W-OoIs the above a complete list of the different sounds that Ch attempts to recognize? Is there any effort to expand the capability?"B" / "P" would be a good add. "B" and "P" are close enough to be interchangeable, but at present neither is available."K" / hard "C" - the mouth shape for "Uh" is good enough, however the problem is that Ch thinks a "K" sound is an "S"."H" - is mostly air, on my voice, Ch analyzes "H" differently almost every time. Sometimes it thinks it's an "S", sometimes and "Uh", etc."J" / soft "G" - would be a good add. This is a unique mouth shape, with a tongue move."N" - would be a good add. This is a unique mouth shape, with the upper lip doing a nose crinkle, and a tongue move.
I'm attempting to set up a live performance on an external Samsung TV connected via HDMI to a Macbook Pro. I've got a USB mic for audio input.Video looks awesome using Mercury Transmit. Ideally I'd like to have the audio also through HDMI, but can use the headphone port and connected speakers as a fallback option. (I am able to get audio via HDMI to the TV with iTunes, Quicktime, etc, so I know it's working)I've tried adjusting audio output settings in System Prefs, CA Preferences and Audio MIDI setup. Also trying OBS. So far I'm unable to get any audio out of CA at all. Can anyone walk me through how to set this up? Help!
