HiI appreciate that this may have been asked many times. However, I am looking for an absolute 'idtiot's' guide to setting up an ICC Profile for Photoshop CS6 / InDesign CS6 and my Canon Pixma MG5450 printer.I undertand the theory behind colour management / calibration, I'm just no good at it so I am looking for some simple instructions that will give me a printed output that will look reasonably close to the screen version.I am placing images edited in PS CS6 into ID CS6 and then printing the final document on my Canon Pixma MG5450 color printer. These are just meant to be drafts but the colours, when printed, look nothing like the screen versions. I understand why I just don't know what would be the best ICC Profile to use for both PS and ID. I am based in the UK (I don't know if the effects which profile to use) and I am using a Windows 7 PC.I don't really have the wherewithall to calibrate my monitor so I suspect I'm not going to get like for like. But any advice / help will be ver
I have both Photoshop CC and Lightroom Classic CC set for ProPhoto color space. When I create a bright red layer using the PS color picker into a new PS document. (or add the red to an image with other layers) and then import the image into LR, the red is MUCH MUCH darker. But if I convert that red layer in PS to Adobe RGB 1998, then the LR match is much better. If I'm just importing a regular photo that has red in it, the problem does not exist. ProPhoto to ProPhoto is fine. So what is it about the color-picker reds that are different from natural reds?Is there anyone who can explain this to me? ThanksMichael

Using Illustrator on Mac OS 10.7.4We've been using Illustrator for years and have come across a problem we never encountered before.PMS spot colors appear washed out on the screen and appear washed out when viewing them in a pdf.Customers are complaining about their proofs as well. What happened?
I am trying to find a Pantone Swatch. It is not in the Illustrator library. I see on the Pantone website one can buy the full updated library, but I only need two specific colors. Any advice please or how I can get these two swatches on my system without buying the full book.Herewith the two colors.Pantone 2196 UncoatedPantone 3517 UncoatedThank you
Hello All,I have some photos that I have taken for scientific observations of fungi, which I now want to correct to light/colour of so I can extract info on colour and size. The camera that I had access to only took JPG images (no raw) but I did include a colour wheel and grey standard in each photo (see attached example). Apologies for non-technical language, but I have not used photoshop a lot before. I have figured out how to adjust to lighting of the photo in GIMP program using the black, white and 18% grey in the GIMP program, but someone suggested that I could use photoshop to, for example, say that the red on the colourwheel equals a certain RGB and the blue another and the green a third, and then photoshop could adjust the image accordingly. However I have had no luck trying to muddle out how to do this myself. Could anyone help? Thanks, Sam
Hello to everybody. All my settings are in sRGB but viewing photos in Bridge than ACR or PS the images are completely different, as desaturated.I'tried to follows the suggestions in the support to solve this problem about using Suite Color Management in Creative Color but It's returning: Error: Suite Color Management is not enable.Could courtesy Help Me ? Error: Suite Color Management is not enabled | Bridge CS6
Is there a way to adjust an image by a specific RGB amount ?I want to, for instance, adjust the blue value by 5 units across the whole image. Most of the advice involves making a curves adjustment and checking the result but that is trial and error.Any other options ?
Im working on an illustrator CC file and i have to save it as an .EPS with NO color profile. so I do my work and the I do "dont color manage this document" and then save is as an EPS HOWEVER, when i go to re- open this file in illustrator cc again, i can see that the same file i just saved opens again with a profile. So now I dont know if the original file i save actually saved with NO profile assigned or maybe it just didn't work? In illustrator CS6 I would do the same thing and my EPS files with no color profile assigned ( dont color manage this document) would in fact re open as untagged. Illustrator CC always re opens with a color profile assigned to it as if i never did anything to it in the first place. Can someone tell me why? or what im doing wrong? Doe it have anything to do with OCC profile and EPS? why did it work in CS6 and not in CC?Thanks
As a general rule, in my opinion, in-camera JPG's look "better" than unprocessed RAW images due to the in-camera processing by the super-secret algorithm used by Canon etc. Colors tend to be brighter, more saturated and probably a bit more contrast. Theoretically, one can achieve the same result in ACR by tweaking the various settings. Provided one has the skills to do so which, unfortunately, I do not. One of the avenues I explored was offsetting the RGB values ie compare the RGB values for the same point and adjust the RAW file in CC by the difference. So I want to move, say, the red value from 125 to 135 etc. There does not appear to be any way to do this, especially globally across the whole image.Second option was to use color matching. I add the JPG as a layer into the RAW file (which I mean the RAW file is opened through ACR then opening CC without making adjustments). Use the JPG layer as source and RAW layer as target. This gets within a couple of points on the RGB which I can
I am trying to achieve a consistent and predictable output of images scanned from my Epson GT10000+ scanner, through photoshop and then into InDesign for final prepping and then printing. My problem is that my colours are not reproducing anywhere near close enough for me to be happy with, and i have now confused and exhausted my ideas on what settings/actions to implement to rectify it.Specs:iMac 5kRetinaAdobe CC 2018Epson 7800My process to produce a one off 4pp A4 gift card that contains a scanned piece of color critical artwork on the front cover, and plain text on the rear of the card.Calibration1) Scanner profiling (Epson GT10000+) using i1Pro 2 and IT8 target to create custom $Scanner Profile.2) Monitor calibration (iMac 5k Retina) using i1Pro 2.3) Printer Profiling using i1Pro 2 (approx 4000 patches) to create custom $Printer Profile.Image Prep4) Scan original document to as 300dpi Tiff, with scanner color management off as recommended by X-rite for i1Pro 2.5) Open scanned Tiff in
Im a beginner so please bare with me! Ive designed a logo and business card in photoshop CS4 but my local printer is having problems with it coming out dark/colours not right so asked for the file to be a CMYK. Ive changed it via 'Image' > 'mode' but now how do I save that? i usually use the 'save for web and devices' tool to create a JPEG but that will that just produce an RGB file again? Thanks
Posted on Acrobat for Windows Forum this morning - then found this group - Hope someone can help us... We are a small non-profit working with adults with developmental disabilities ramping up a very short run color printing service for other non-profits. We print/mail newsletters and brochures and give our adults work to do in our workshop setting. So we have purchased Acrobat Pro 9.0 - and all we want to do is be a printer of "print ready" pdf'S... Our knowledge of graphic arts and/or acrobat is very limited - we are just users and again, we want to print out submitted PDF's to our HP high end laser (HP CP6015dn) and give our clients great color printing. Most PDF files we receive work fine and we output what we see and that is what they get but now one client has sent us a file in CMYK and the color is off. I sent him some other PDF's we have used and he tells us our other files are all RGB so... Can we take his CMYK file and convert it to RGB and then print it out? If yes
Good day,A couple of months ago all my RGB images suddenly began to preview in Bridge as if they were CYMK (reduced gamut) - then to make matters worse when those files open in their native application Illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop they continue to look like CYMK images - the actual value of the colors stays RGB - but they display with their closest CYMK substitute. I have spoken with tech support, but they were unable to help - even though they did agree that the preview images had changed color space... anybody have any idea what to try? I have adjusted the colorspace in Bridge - synced all applications - undone it - rebuilt preference files... I feel like I am not fixing the correct file... any help would be appreciated. It is only Adobe applications that have this issue - other applications are fine..
Hello!I am currently working on a Fotobook project in InDesign CS6, which requires synchronized Color Settings across Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign. Normally, one would do this in Bridge according to: Edit > Color Settings...However, every attempt to do this leads to a pop-up window telling me that "Suite-Color-Management is not activated. Suite-Color-Management is only possible when an authorized Product is started at least once beforehand, to activate the function."Does anybody know a way around this? Thank you for all help!
Hi. Out of curiosity, I went to the Idealliance site today to check on current standards. I saw that there are now CSF files and ICC profiles for GRACoL 2013 (it's obviously been a while since I've looked into it). So I downloaded these and added to the proper locations in my user directory. But I'm curious about the behavior of choosing the CSFs in the CS6 applications (mostly Illustrator or InDesign). In the past, we've generally just setup our own color settings and used the most appropriate output profile for CMYK working space depending on jobs, which was generally either GRACoL 2006 Coated, SWOP 2006 Coated, or a printer-specific profile. So I tried choosing some of the new GRACoL CSF settings and am unsure about the CMYK profiles that it selects. I was assuming they would be the new GRACoL 2013 profiles I downloaded and installed, but not sure they are. Here's what I see:INDESIGN CS6: When I choose 'GRACOL2013-C1', the CMYK working space is set to: 'CGATS21_CRPC6.icc'.ILLUSTRATOR C
Hi everyone, I'm a first year graphics design student and was planning to buy a monitor calibration. I will use mostly in graphics design, photo and video editing. i Just want to know what you are using and what you are going to recommend to start with. Thanks.
Hello community!I've just purchased a Lenovo Ideapad 520 for use in Adobe PS and LR.I'm hoping to match the colors as accurately as I can so there will be minimal crossover when working across Mac and Windows software. I've been recommended this machine for use with Adobe due to it's colours, but there is still a slight discrepancy which I'd like to rectify.Wondering if someone can point me in the best direction as to particular colour settings (RGB) in the Graphics Control Panel/Color Management bar, or any other system preferences they changed to work accurately across both domainshere are some of the specs.7th Gen Intel® Core™ i7-7500U Processor (4 MB Cache, 2.7 GHz, 3.5 GHz max)Thank you for your assistance! Looking forward to hearing your recommendations as this is an impressive machine but still slightly off with the colours.
Hi all, Please excuse my complete lack of understanding in this area. I have read many articles around this question but am still a little confused.... I am a first year degree student in interior design. I am currently designing a logo and business card which I hope to use for my end of term exhibition. I will be designing this using InDesign. I would also like to use the same colours to create my website and for other digital documents that I will submit as PDF's. I would like to ensure that I use the same colours throughout. I would like to see the colour in print first and would like to buy a guide on this. I have looked at Pantone colour 'fans' but wondered whether there was an alternative with CMYK colours? 1. Should I design the initial logo in RGB or CMYK? 2. Should the business card be designed with RGB or CMYK or Pantone?3. How can I use the same colours from the business card to transfer across to other documents, i.e. create a palette of colours for my brand (there will onl
Hi everyone,Recently I took a part in a project that is facing a color matching problem. Basically, we scan an object (e.g. butterfly), store the image as a jpeg. file and then print it. The problem is that when we compare the object (under similar to the scanner light) with the print, colors do not match. Therefore, I was trying to understand where does the color changes throughout this process ( is it scanner , image storing or printing problem)? Also, I understand that a digital image is stored in RGB format, whereas print consists of CMYK colors. Nevertheless, I was wondering is it possible to make some scanner, monitor and printer calibration or do something else to print in the original color?I hope that my explanation of the problem is understandable and that someone could help me with this.Lukas
Hello All,I was told by my work place that are primary color is Pantone 186C so being a web savvy guy I look it up to find google telling me its:RGB 200 16 46HEX/HTML C8102ECMYK 2 100 85 6Thinking great I will use C8102E for all things web.Until I open photoshop and illustrator and I get 2 completely different resultsIllustrator says:RGB 207 10 44HEX CF0A2CCMYK 12 100 91 3Photoshop says:RGB 208 32 47HEX D0202FCMYK 12 100 91 2So which is the right color and how would I know which is the right red? and why are they all different?
