Dear all,FM is 15.0.6.956; The following fonts are listed in WindowssIn FM File > Print the printer is set to Adobe PDF (with another setting even the Distiller route fails). "Rely on System Fonts only" is unchecked. When creating a PDF via Distiller route, then also the bold version is OK. Only creation via PDFL (Publish panel, online route) I creates this effect: The table heading (top area in the screen shot) uses this bold variant - and the problem started today - a PDF created yesterday does not show this effect...I have re-installed the fonts two times without success.→ Is there some cache involved which I could delete? Renaming %appdata%..._.cache_fonts has no effect.→ Any ideas are welcome!
I'm using FM19, fully patched even if I am still stuck with Windows 7.0 + corporate upgrades.I have a book with eight chapters.I update the master pages (new footer layout) in one chapter and save the changes.I select all the other chapters in the book and run File > Import formats with Paragraph formats, Character formats and Page layouts selected plus the options to remove Manual page breaks and Other overrides …… and nothing happens! same behaviour if I try to upgrade just one chapter file. (and no, I haven't locked them by mistake)Any suggestions on what's happening and/or on how to get the expected update will be appreciated!
I want to add a drop down list to this dialog box (script already available on this forum).The drop down list content should contain say:ABCIf user selects A, clicking on the Execute button displays message corresponding to A and same for others. LaunchPalette(); function LaunchPalette() { var resource = """palette { properties:{ closeButton:true, maximizeButton:false, minimizeButton:false, resizeable:true }, orientation:'row', spacing:15, margins:10, helloButton: Button { text:'Say Hello', alignment:['fill','fill'] }, closeButton: Button { text:'Close', alignment:['fill','fill'] }, }"""; var palette = new Window (resource, "My Palette"); palette.layout.layout(true); palette.show(); palette.bounds = {x:100, y:100, width:158, height:38}; palette.layout.resize(); palette.helloButton.onClick = fun
Hi! I publish Responsive html5 from ditamaps (without robohelp, just FM's own publishing tool). Now, these ditamaps include partly the exact same xml files. However, when a same xml file with the same images come out fine from one ditamap, the images don't appear when publishing the exact same xml file with another ditamap. The place for the image is just empty with a broken image/file path icon. I assume there is something wrong with the ditamaps, since the xml files publish fine when published as individual files. Anybody have any clues what might be the issue? Thanks.

A few weeks of checking documents ahead, after corporate decisions to change fonts and colours … actually going pretty smoothly, now I've created a single stylesheet file, but every now and then I find unexpected special cases. Creating or updating a paragraph style is easy, with the Esc opn and Esc opu shortcuts: but where are the equivalents for character styles?
Hi everybody! We have several FM2015 (including a FMserver) and one FM2019 installations. Our publishing script does not work with the FM2019 and I do not understand why it fails. The error message is the following:XSLT Processor MessagesError reported by XML parser processingFWK005 parse may not be called while parsing.Internal error evaluating template ruleI checked the relevant configurations files, i.e., maker.ini, structapps.fm, and ditafm-output.ini.Our JSX invokes a rather big XSLT template (600lines) to perform the publication and according to the console, the problem lies around that xslt operation. So I changed the original processor path in the maker.ini to a path from a saxon processor which I downloaded separately (same version: saxon9he.jar).Then the console output gives me this (only with FM2019, FM2015 works with both saxon paths):XSLT Processor MessagesFailed to initialize: javax.xml transform.TransformerFactory What could be the difference between FM2015
I tried to publish my ditamap in PDF. In parameters I set my own template in order to generate the toc.My template containing some graphics (logos..)When I publishMy template is used for the toc, but graphics are replaced by a gray placeholders...How to fix that? I have no idea where i have to put my graphics...
We have recently changed our corporate font. Fortunately, we use a 'template' fm file for our paragraph and character styles that we apply to our documents and books. I have updated all our paragraph and character styles. However, when I use Insert > List of > References to find font references, the old fonts are still referenced somewhere. When I click on the hyperlink to go to the corresponding page, the cursor is at the top of the page, but there are no text on the page with the associated font applied, e.g. the reference file shows Times New Roman @ 10.0 pt 1, but Times New Roman isn't used anywhere on the page. I have checked on the body, master and reference pages, but can't find where it is being used. I've also used Find > Character Format, but that returns 'No results found'. How can I locate these 'rogue' font uses?
I am working in a structured file using FM19, version 15.0.6.956. I am trying to add the ability to hide an element (shortdesc) for pdf output but everything in the dita file is being grabbed as well. Have I missed something in process here?In the Conditional Tags pod, I added a conditional tag for shortdesc.I then went to the "Manage Attribute Experssions" and created a new expression: shortdescI applied the shortdescr conditional tagHowever, when I hit apply, the condition is applied to everything in the file including a draft comment. The Conditional Tags pod indicates that the shortdesc element is tagged with the shortdesc tag but oddly, the draft-comment element is also tagged with both DITA-Comment AND shortdesc tag. None of the other text in the file appears to have any Conditional Tag applied. In the Show/Hide Conditional Text pod, if I hide the shortdesc, everything in the file is hidden except for the draft-comment. I hope that someone can help me out with my proces
In FrameMaker 2020, the cross referenced DITA tables are not printed correctly in the PDF file. The WYSIWYG is working fine but the numbering is missing in the PDF: it just shows the word "table" without any number or text, depending on which format you use in the Cross-Reference pod.The same procedure works fine with figures both in WYSIWYG and the PDF but not for the tables. I cannot figure out what I am doing wrong!
FrameMaker 2019 - UnstructuredI am working on a small chapter which is to have an anchored frame which is conditional. I have set up a condition for the anchored frame, and it works ok. But the figure text which flows below the anchored frame is also set to be conditional, but that does not work. I suppose this has something to with the figure text being autonumbered, but how do I solve it. How do I hide the figure text along with the rest of stuff which has been set to "Hide"?
I have a footnote within a table. When I add the footnote, it's a letter and I need it to be a number. I went into Format > Document > Numbering > Footnote, and it appears to be set on "Numeric." (See image.) Obviously I'm missing something. Can someone help? Thanks!
Hi, I need to copy an entire book (including master and reference pages) to a brand-new book. What's the best way to do this? All images in the book are referenced, and the new book will be using the same images (for the most part). I'm using the 2019 release, which I just updated after seeing the update announcement here. Thanks!
I had a FM11 doc, opened it with new Framemaker 2019, saved as 2019, opened new webworks epubpro 2019, made new FM doc source doc; scan all, sits at 0%, will not scan; any advice?
This issue started occurring for me recently and I urgently need a resolution to the problem as it prevents generation of new books for product team reviews. Specifics:* Until recently I was able to save and generate a book file. Changes were made to various .fm files that are part of the book and now when you attempt to update the book, this error is returned.* I did a clean install of Framemaker on a second machine and the same error occurs for me.* Other users appear to be able to open and regenerate the book without issue on their machines.* Other books appear to generate correctly for me.Suggestions?
Hi,Our company provides technical writing services. For this, we used Adobe FrameMaker 9, and recently we upgraded to Adobe FrameMaker 2019. As a requirement of one of our projects, we have to use S1000D. For this, we plan to use the S1000D feature provided in FrameMaker 2019. However, we are not sure that Adobe FrameMaker 2019 support Turkish characters for S1000D tags' values and attribute values (both for authoring and publishing). Unfortunately, there is not any research regarding this issue on the internet. If I am not mistaken, Adobe FrameMaker supports Turkish characters. However, I am not sure about S1000D attribute values.I appreciate your help.
I am trying to modify the ListofFiguresTpl.fm template that I use in my DITA project in order to change the numbering of the figures, appearing in the List of figures part. The reason is that the default numbering, as it is, restarts the figure numbers in each chapter to 1 then adds up the numbers throughout the chapter. However, in the list of figures, appearing in the end of the book, the numbers are accumulating. Consequently for the same figure you get two different numbers in the chapter and in the LOF. So I decided to change the numbering by adding the chapter number first then the figure number within that chapter. I first modified the ChapterOutputTpl.fm using the paragraph designer: f:Figure <$chapnum>.<n+>:\t. This works fine. However when I do the same in the ListofFiguresTpl.fm, the chapter number is always 1.
Hi.When I publish document, all the images turn gray in Responsive HTML.PDF are fine.Image format are ai and jpeg. Both turn gray.PNG has no problemIn other words, jpg changes different jpg when ever publish. Please let me know the solution.
Hello all,I am roundtripping from stuctured Frame to XML and cannot figure out how to make FM restore my cross-reference targets. My edd shows the <xref> element as this:Element (CrossReference): xref Attribute List 1. Name: XrefTarget IDReference OptionalThe DTD was generated by Frame from the EDD, and shows the following definition for <xref>:<!ELEMENT xref EMPTY > <!ATTLIST xref XrefTarget IDREF #IMPLIED format CDATA #IMPLIED
When publishing to PDF or using the Save as PDF option in FM 2019, all images suddenly have (unwanted) borders around them. When opening the same document in FF 2017 and saving as PDF, the same images don't have any borders. None of the graphic settings have changed between the two documents. I also can't find any settings that puts borders around images. Or is this yet another thing that's broken on FM 2019?
Hi All, I have tried to use ScriptUI to make progress bars for my scripts, but they are not very useful because of "(Not responding)" in the title bar for long operations. Any other options for reliable progress bars for scripts? Thank you very much. -Rick
Using DITA and FM 2019, group titles for Korean index entries are defined by the below image.Order: Symbols > Numerics > Alphabet > Hangle character (initial consonant). Can I produce only two groups, which one group includes symbols, numerics and English Alphabet entires, and the other group includes Hangle character entries in Hangle initial consonant order (ㄱ, ㄴ, ㄷ, ㄹ ... ㅎ)?
We have several documents (Framemaker books with several chapters and attachments) that use existing templates with specific paragraph tags, character tags, master pages, cross-refencing, table formats, etc. Our company is considering changing all these items using new templates. How difficult is this and how in the world would we go about doing so? I'm thinking this will be too time consuming to warrant the change.
