Can someone help me understand why my index is coming out like this:When it should be coming out something like this:I have an index from another manual that I can import but no matter what I do it won't pick up the references to create the index correctly and I don't know how to do it. I tried creating it from scratch but no luck. Lil help? Much thanks. Brett

East-Asian languages have line breaking rules of their own. Does FrameMaker support these different standards? I use Framemaker 12 to create various documents in English that are then translated into many languages. I'd like to make sure that line breaks are dealt with properly in those languages as well as in other languages, especially Korean, Japanese, Chinese, and Thai.I'd like information on which languages are supported and for which versions of FrameMaker.Thank you!

When dealing with a regular Element Container in my EDD, in order to achieve some flexibility, I have frequently resorted to inserting attributes' value into Container's Prefix rules as follows Prefix:<$attribute[myattribute]>.Now I am in a TableCell Element and the typical Container's rules (e.g. Prefix, Suffix, First/LastParagraphRules) are not available.Any suggestions on how populate a TableCell with an attribute value are appreciated!

How do I preview FrameMaker thumbnails in Windows Explorer? We have a lot of text insets and need to preview them before we import them. Alt+P didn't work. Is there a setting somewhere? I can see Word, Excel and PDF previews, but not FrameMaker.

All of a sudden, my system (Win 7, 64 bit, Build 1709) is now unable to create a postscript file using the Print to File option with the Adobe Printer selected. Although I  have not changed any Adobe PDF printer settings since the cows came home, the message that I am receiving is the long forgotten and improperly worded issue about relying on system fonts and not using document fonts:When you create a PS file, you must rely on system fonts and use document fonts. Please go to printer properties, "Adobe PDF Settings" page and turn OFF the option "Rely on system fonts only; do not use document fonts."I went and checked and in BOTH places where this option should be TURNED ON is indeed turned on. (Adobe PDF Printing Preferences and Adobe PDF Printer Properties > Advanced > Printing Default.) Please can someone help, I am having problems inserting a cross reference.I am using Structred Framemaker version 10.I have gone to the element that I want to use for the cross reference and selected Assign ID to element. I know it does assign an element as I did this twice and it prompted me that one was already assigned and did I want to replace it.Then, when I click the text that I want to use to refer to this section and select the Special menu – Cross reference, the ID is not displayed in Element data list in the Dita Cross-Reference dialog: What am I doing wrong?

How to display top and bottom view in individual page using textframe with zoom for framemaker using extendscript ?

Hi there. Sorry my poor English I have some tables with very big rows. It seems Framemaker cuts the table when there is no room in the current page and preserves entire rows. Due to this feature some pages renders almost empty (it shows some rows and the big one is in the next page).Is there any chance to fix this?Thanks a lot for your time.

Hi Guys, i am trying to create PDF as an output using a DitaMap and Dita topics in it. and I am able to achieve the same.but want to change default template name (C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe FrameMaker 2017\Structure\xml\DITA\outputTemplates\ditabase.template) to custom template to generate pdf output.so any idea, how can we allow a ditamap/topic to use custom template instead of default one?

Hi,I have a chapter in my FrameMaker file that ends on page 21. When I save my book as PDF, the last page for this chapter ends on page 20 and page 21 is a blank page. As far as I can tell, the pagination is set to single sided, and the option to delete empty pages is selected.Would this be an issue with the FrameMaker file or book, or the PDF settings?Thanks

While working with my settings file for an HTML5 output, I wanted to make a few basic changes to the template layout (font/header color). I output to test the changes, and nothing changed. I went back in, made the changes again, and then opened these settings to see if they "took," and the options displayed the default settings. Any ideas for what is blocking my modifications from saving?Thank you.

I've been using FrameMaker 2017 for the past several months without any issues. As of yesterday, the software will not start—either indirectly by clicking on a FM file or directly through the Start menu. There have been no changes to the system, and I am using a standalone home copy. I need to be able to open documents. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi,I would like to use dita for structured authoring; however, I still do not understand how I can customize the layout of my output.  For the PDF output, I cannot change any character style or images on the reference page. Which template is applied and how can I modify it? Same question for the HTML5 output.  I know that I can make changes in the CSS. But a dita hazardstatement becomes a bulleted list in the HTML output with typeofhazard, consequence, and howtoavoid as bullet points. Changing this via the CSS would not be an elegant way. BTW how can I define that FM will use always a particular CSS without creating a new one each time I publish my document?

We recendly upgraded from FM 11 to FM2017 and I'm getting extremely frustrated with anchored frames. In FM11 we used Anchored Frames to insert images into our documents. There is no consistent size with the images - some have their DPI set to 120, some to 200, some to 800. In FM2017, the DPI seems to be attached to the Anchored Frame, which results in all of our images being resized to fit the default anchored frame size. This was never an issue in FM11 - how do we stop FM2017 from enforcing this horrible function. This is causing us to manually resize close to 500 images in just one document alone. There must be a way to stop this from happening every time we update the styles.

Every time I click on a Text insert in a document, the paragraph style for alI the text in the insert is changed to the first paragraph style used in the insert, e.g. if the first line of text has a Header-style, all the text in the insert is changed to that style.

Hi All,I have probably asked this question before, but the issue has come up again. When you insert a table in FrameMaker, there are "default" paragraph formats for each column in Header, Body, and Footer rows in the table. In the MIF TblCatalog, they look like this:...<TblCatalog <TblFormat   <TblTag `Format A'>  <TblColumn    <TblColumnNum 0>   <TblColumnWidth  1.0">   <TblColumnH     <PgfTag `CB_CellHeading'>   > # end of TblColumnH   <TblColumnBody     <PgfTag `CB_CellBody'>   > # end of TblColumnBody...You can see them in the <PgfTag entries in this snippet. Are these properties exposed anywhere in the FDK? I don't think they are, but if not, I wonder why? It sure would be handy to be able to change them programmatically. Thanks in advance.Rick

Hi AllI have a book with 20 chapters or so, and I have to add volume pages to group some of them to divide the book in 3 or 4 sections with 5 chapters per section (more or less).In each volume page I want to add some kind of TOC listing only the chapters in the volume and theirs titles, but with a standalone TOC it shows all the chapters and titles in the whole book, and with a miniTOC it shows only the volume page contents.Is there a proper way to do this task other than using one standalone TOCs per volume and playing with the chapter styles to show only certain chapters information?Thanks a lot for your time

I have a legitimate copy of FrameMaker 8. The license code is apparently registered to a former co-worker's personal address even though it's the company's copy, so Adobe Support will not give me the Authorization Code I need to register it.Is there a workaround so I can activate FrameMaker 8? The company has batch files that are dependent upon this version of FrameMaker, which is why they cannot upgrade to the current version.Thanks,--Lynn

After upgrading to Windows Version 1803, OS Build 17134.1, I was unable to save a document as a PDF file using FrameMaker 2015 (File > Save as PDF).  Our IT guy was unsuccessful at resolving the issue until we finally rolled Windows back to the previous version (1709).—Just reporting this, in case you have a similar problem.

The links in my TOC break as soon as a subscript or superscript appears in the line of text. I tried copying the marker at the beginning of the line of text and adding it to the subscript/superscript, but nothing changed. I also tried adding the marker to the (normal) text immediately following the subscript/superscript, and still nothing changed. Lastly, I tried adding the marker in both of these places, and still could not get the link to work past subscript/superscript.Does anyone know of a workaround that I could try?
