FrameMaker

I am trying to create a Master Help file (Index.htm) that the user will be able to launch other help (Index.htm) files.I want to use the following if possible:<a href="../subfolder/subfolder/Index.html">Link Text</a>I need a workaround to another issue I'm having where FM2015 cannot publish a large help project. In order to get the chapters to start on the right-hand side, I set the pagination to "Make Page Count Even." If the chapter happens to have an odd page count, FM inserts a blank page. Blank pages are not supposed to have the running headers/footers in them as the rest of the chapter. How can I get rid of the running headers/footers? I'm using FM11 and FrameScript 6.Indyrose

I saw an earlier post with a very similar question, but no answer.Operating System Windows 7FM2015, version 13.0.4.532.Attempting to publish a large book (4 Introduction-type files, then 3 groups; group 1 has 4 child books, group 2 has 24 child books, group 3 has 8 child books, for a total of 296 files, and approximately 500 images throughout all imported by reference). I have 100 MB hard disk space and plenty of memory. All files are opened.  I get the "Failed importing documents" message during the “Building TOC…” process after all files have been converted.I have attempted 5 - 6 times. Always get the same result.Is 100MB not enough space to publish the large book? If so, I may to figure out a work around.Please help.

I have built our TCS6 package using CCP.  I am attempting to deploy through SCCM to Windows 10 machines.  I have not had any problems with previous versions following the Adobe procedures.  I am thinking that there is either a compatibility issue with Windows 10 or a problem with how it was packaged.I attempted to install the package locally on a Windows 10 machine with no success.Any advice?

Hi, Can anyone advise is installing Technical Suite 2015 silently is possible?I've followed the instructions for Technical Suite 3 using application.xml.override etc but this does not seem to work properly - the setup program returns a 0 for successful but nothing gets installed (as far as I can see)End goal is to deploy via SCCM.Any help appreciated - can't find any Adobe tech notes for this

I am using FM 12 to generate Responsive HTML5.All the actions I'm describing take place here:I assumed that I would be able to map any paragraph style from my original FrameMaker template to an equivalent Output style. Here is what I have tried:The mapping seemed obvious enough, so I initially manually mapped a few items that were easy, like my H1 to Heading 1.Then I realized that many of my original template paragraph styles did not have equivalents in the Output styles list.I reread the FrameMaker 12 documentation and clicked Paragraph at the top of the Styles panel, selected the Automap Paragraph Styles checkbox, and clicked Save.Filled with hope, I then clicked the original template style, say Bullet2, that  I wished to map.Alas, the Output Style field said [Automapping failed. Hello fellows,Before I dive deep into the Framescript/ES methods, is it possible to extract linked Excel/Visio (OLE) objects from a Framemaker file and save them as separate files to a certain folder? From a quick glance, Framescript 5.2 doesn't seem to support this. Haven't checked ES yet.Thank you for your response in advance!

I have a problem with FM 10.  Eventually, when I copy something and then paste, it pastes something else. Usually whatever was in the clipboard previously. Pasting into any other program works fine, but FM will not paste the correct object, and become fixated on the previously pasted item.  When it happens, it happens whether I copy from within the doc, or from another program (Photoshop, Notepad, Word).This happens with text or graphics.I will work fine for hours, then it goes off the deep end and this happens.  In order to make it work properly again, I have to close FM and restart it.Has anybody seen this before?  What is it and how do I stop it?Thanks.

I belileve the instructions in the user manual are incorrect.  Importing the PDF formats (bookmark definitions) from one doc to another (or to a book) doesn't work.

Hi,   I am a beginner in using the unstructured framemaker. In unstructured framemaker, when I want to make a manual, should I import texts from other documents or copy it from other document or type characters by myself on the computer keyboard in framemaker? We have some HTML files that we are trying to import to FrameMaker 12 so we can edit them. I set FrameMaker as structured FrameMaker and opened the HTML file. I get an Unknown File Type and select Convert from XML. The file opens in FrameMaker, but all the images are missing. Is there a way to import html files and keep all the images?

Currently using FrameMaker v6.0 for many years to support a HUGE Users Manual with hundreds of screenshots.  I am concerned with corrupting this monster document with an upgrade to V15.  Any ideas if this will blow up?

Dear all,I have some 1000 font files on my system - mostly stored away because they belong to specific customers. There are, however, fonts in the Windows/Fonts directory which I will not use in my lifetime and hence I wanted to get rid of them.I could not move many of them into a safe location, but most fo them I could apply the attribute hidden.(From the Adobe fonts in the FM directory I have only activated a few - the others are 'stored away').However, these hidden fonts are also listed in the FM-font list (Formt > Fonts), for example Ebrima and Estrangelo Edessa.I have noticed that these hidden fonts also appear in my MS-Office applications (version 2003).My System is Windows 7 SP1.Do You have any ideas how to shorten the font list further?Klaus Daube

I learned a lot today, but too late. This morning I did a MIF wash of all the files in a book, saving them to a temp location. I then converted the files back (manually) and copied them back into the original location. Now all of my cross-references are broken (as were the links to my imported graphics, but I've fixed those manually). I'm looking for a way to update the directory for all of these cross-references without fixing each one manually. Is there a way to do this? For example, FrameMaker is trying to resolve "..\progref\<filename>" from "\\someserver\techpubs\thisbook\progref".If I could tell it to change ".. "to "\\someserver\techpubs\thisbook", all would be well!(Before you suggest it, I have already gone in and set "Suppress Automatic Updating of All Cross-References" (again, too late), and I have discovered the Package feature, which I'll use for moving documentation sets in the future.) I am using FM 2015 to publish to responsive html and somehow while playing with my options, my final product lost the scroll bar. How do i get it to generate one? Is there a particular script or option that controls this?Thank you!

Our company is switching from Word to structured FrameMaker 2015. I need to understand the process and costs associated with hiring a company to setup FrameMaker 2015 and convert 250 Word documents to FrameMaker 2015. I'm new to FrameMaker and I know I'm not aware of what the process is, what steps I should take, information I should be aware of to make the transition as easy as possible, and how to evaluate the costs. I've searched a number of websites, but can't seem to find a basic guide on hiring another company to setup FrameMaker 2015. Any ideas on resources I could use?Thanks.

I enable the simplified XML view, but nothing happens. My icons to see the code up top are still grayed out. How can I see the code to one of my pages? I need to see the code to a page a previous employee created, and no matter what I try, that option is still unavailable to me. Anyone know why or what I can do?
