Can FrameMaker connect to Sharepoint 2019?  

I have a ditamap with about 40 topics, and each has or should have a ShortDesc element. I want to review and (where needed) edit all of these ShortDesc elements to make them more consistent. How do I do this? 

I want to use a date in my FM (2022) document - it will be a user-entered date - in a process document. The user would specify how many days it takes to complete a specific process. The aim is to say that if you start Process A on the 1st of July, and the process takes 2 days to complete, you should start on Process B on the 3rd of July. Process B takes 1 day to complete, so Process C should start on the 4th of July, and so on... The aim is that the content writer would specify the duration (in days) of each process. When producing the final document, they would update the start date for the first process and the start date of all subsequent processes would be updated accordingly. Without using an scripts, is this possible through the use of Variables? I am using Structured FrameMaker, so could do something with Attributes in the EDD, though I'm not sure how practical that would be - if it's even possible. Suggestions for the experts?

I have a ditamap with several nested topics describing different products. When I run my ditaval, it filters correctly at the root map level and inside of topics but it does not filter nested topics.I've tried rejigging the ditaval file to both exclude all but my desired property or only include my desired property. Neither works.Help, please. Wanda

Problem:  I have FrameMaker 2020 version 16.0.4.1062.    ­­­­­­­I have a book that contains 404 pages and many chapters.  The first page of every chapter starts at 1 and I can’t get it to continue numbering.  I have set the variables "page # of 404 " on each master page.   I have followed all the suggestions currently in the forum with no avail.  I have performed the following” Right-clicked individually on a  few  chapters in the book and then clicked Numbering. On the Chapter tab, I clicked the Continue Numbering from Previous Chapter in Book radio button. I did this to a number of chapters in sequence then updated the book.  The chapters did not renumber as expected and continue to individually start at 1. On a few individual chapters on the master pages, I highlighted the Current page number variable and then clicked Format àDocumentàNumbering, the Continue numbering from the previous chapter radio button is set.  I updat

I have a book where I need to work with Section/Subsection variables, but I can't make them work. The tabs for Section and Subsection are inactive. I have added the variable both to master pages and to paragrah styles, but the tabs stay inactive. Volume, Chapter, Page, Footnote work as they should. Is there something here I don't understand or is this a bug? FrameMaker Version: 17.0.4.628, Win 11      

Hi all, it's good to be back.I'm very familiar with Frame 4, 6, 7 and 8 from my days as Tech Writer before retiring 9 years ago.  My next private writing project needs Frame but  some behavior 4 or 5 revs down the road still puzzles me. Specifically, Frame inserts a gap of about 1 inch between the body text and the footnotes any time the footnote (or footnotes) exceeds four lines of text. A paragraph can rattle along, get to an EOL then boom!  Frame inserts the gap, cites the footnotes (correctly) then creates an ophan on the next page to finish the paragraph. Changing the orphan/widow protection has no effect.  I found the frame attributes dialog for that master page but there didn't seem to be anyway to control the gap.  But maybe I'm looking in the wrong place.  Everything seems to have moved around in 9 years.... 😉 And yes, this won't occur unless the footnote(s) exceed(s) 4 lines.  The gap disappears (as does the orpha

Hi Folks, Im trying to streamline out in house processes and have concluded (with the help of this community) that automating some of our basic steps would be the way to go. Below is the process when we get our files back from the translation company of the part i think we can improve on.Now the issue is i need a script to relink text insets to updated files, currently i have to point it in the direction of the folder for say 'Hydraulic Pin adjustment.fm' and relink it to the relevant language like this 'Hydraulic Pin adjustment_ES.fm' and so on with each language. If i could just singly click a link to connect that to the correct path&file name that would be a huge time saver for us. Currently im selecting through the folder structure, which when added up for multiple insets & multiple languages, takes some time.Similarly with our cross references, currently would say '(See hydraulic pin adjustment)'  need to have the word updated, so 'See' is replaced by 'Consulte' follo

Im reviewing our current workflow as its very timeconsuming and would love to hear what other peoples processes are, or even suggestions for improvment. Our general process is as follows:Currently we use framemaker to create the source manual and then send it away to a translation company, they translate it and send it back to us as mifs, which we convert back to framemaker and then reformat it to our standards. We use a lot of text insets which all need to be relinked to the appropriate language file and the cross references need to be reformatted (to use the correct language) and then relinked, its the relinking part of this process that takes a lot of time. In addition to all that you have to carry out the usual processes such as pagination, numbering, creating TOC etc etc. This process for one langauge can take anywhere between half a day to a full day per manual, depending on the size of the manual and experience level of the person doing it. Is there currently a built-in scripting/macro capability in FM (Version 17.0.0.226)? I haven't needed any such thing in ~25 years as a user, but I think I might now. Specifically, I need to import large (potentially hundreds of pages) multipage PDFs into individual anchored frames in my book. TIA for any pointers in the right direction....

Hi there.Sorry to bother you with this (seemingly simple) question, but I've tried everything and still can't find the solution.I recently inherited a document and am setting up the files.It's mostly finished, I just need to clean it, PDF, and forward along....except for ONE problem:All the chapters say "Chapter 1"I have tried Format > Document > Numbering, have looked online, and have tried every other method I can think of.Every time I update the book, all the files still say "Chapter 1".Please help!Any advice would be greatly appreciated.Thanks very much.~Chrisps. Am I so lucky that there is a german and swedish user here, who can inform me what term Adobe has used for the word "templates" in the localized versions of FrameMaker?...

I have inherited a documentation project that uses FM2020, structured authoring with DITA 1.3. We have a customized 'ditafm-output.ini" file as well as customized .STS settings file. I am trying to understand which changes that were made in these two files actually matter, which means understanding how these different settings are used/applied. When I look at the settings in these two files, there appears to be a certain amount of overlap. For example, in the .STS file, the DITA Options tab lists about 10 items, all of which I "think" appear also in the .INI file.Which file's settings are used under which conditions?NOTE: the instructions we follow to generate a PDF are to use File > Publish and then select the correct Settings File, select PDF and then click the Generate Selected Output button. I have tried searching/reading the various Framemaker help files, but have not found an explanation yet.

Comment markers are extremely helpful.Imagine authoring with notes to self. Yet,- we can't include a clickable url in a marker's text (nor in a pdf's comment...)- the markers panel displays almost the whole of a marker's text (the first line would do)Is there a way to script ourselves out of this?Thanks.

When creating the Mini TOC, I have checked the box to create hypertext links. The Mini TOC links work in FrameMaker, and they work when I publish as PDF. However, when I publish as HTML5 or even basic HTML, the Mini TOC shows up as normal texts and are not linked.

FrameMaker Version: 17.0.4.628 on Win11. I am trying my very best to publish a FM book to HTML5, but FrameMaker seems to generate random errors in the HTML5 publishing. Completely random chapters display differently in the menu.   This is what the menu is supposed to look like. A double entry with the name of the chapter first, and a dropdown with the chapter number. But sometimes chapters misbehave like this. No dropdown with the chapter number and the entire page header displays in the top. The stylesheet is exactly the same across chapters. I have had this error numerous times before, and I can't figure out what is happening. It can be fixed in the output using a text editor and some high magic, but I would absolutely prefer the publishing process to work out of the box.  I have tried all sorts of tricks. Resaving the error prone documents, replacing them, moving them around, changing formats and so forth, but to little effect. Anybody have a some suggestions?   &nb

My collegue is suddenly having issues when generating PDFs. The images in the FM document are not showing in the PDF. The anchored frame just shows as white space on the PDF. He tells me everything was fine a few hours ago. Also this is happening with all documents on his PC. This tells me a setting got changed somewhere, but I can't seem to locate it.

Hallo,ich habe festgestellt, daß beim Speichern als Mif aus FM 17 und weiterbearbeitung in FM 15 Farbeinstellungen für Tabellen (köpfe) nicht mitgespeichert werden. Speziell hier Füllungen für Tabellenköpfe, zB farbig hinterlegte Überschriften in Kopfzeilen wie "Hinweis" und so weiter. Die Farbe wird von Kopfzeile rot und Füllung 100% auf Füllung "weiß" gesetzt. Die Färbung ist damit verschwunden.Ist das ein bug, oder ein nicht mehr versionsneutrales element?Gibt es einen workaround, um nicht sämtliche Tabellenformate wieder reaparieren zu müssen?

In FM i go to File --> CMS --> Connection Manager --> Choose Connection --> Microsoft SharePoint OnlineCouple of questions:The name can be whatever? Like "FrameMaker Documents"Does it matter if the server is https instead of http?Can the server name be https://xxxxxxx.sharepoint.com or should it be https://xxxxxxx.sharepoint.com/sites/xxxxxx/shared%20Documents/Forms/Allitems.aspxThe main problem is the repository text box. I have tried many different things, but i'm still not sure what is supposed to go in there. I always get this message:I have watched this video: Out-of-the-box SharePoint 2016 support in FrameMaker (2019 release)   It is exactly what i want, but the video completly skips the connection manager part. I have also failed to find an answer through google searches. Please help

Hello,I am trying to save a FM file to PDF from ExtendScript, but for some reason PDFConvertCMYKtoRGB doesn't work. The colors in the PDF produced are wrong. I have manually checked and the ConvertCMYKtoRGB is definitely the setting that affects the color issue.
