FrameMaker

Hello.Yesterday FrameMaker 11 suddenly stopped working on my machine. It shows the message "Adobe FrameMaker 11 has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Please close the program." It does not create any error messages though, no .txt file in Users\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\FrameMaker\11. This happens whenever I open a FrameMaker file.I tried uninstalling FrameMaker 11, reinstalling, and updating to version 11.0.2.384. Same result with my existing book file and with a new book file.I'm working on Window 7 Enterprise, MUI, language setting English.Help, I need FrameMaker and ePublisher to create my Online Help.

Hi All,I have a table which has Anchor Marker on Page 1. Then Table Starts on Page 2 with Title, Table header and Table Rows (only 2 rows and other half of the page is blank); then Additional Rows start on Page 3.So how can I make my table starts with the Anchor Marker and not leave too much blank spaces???     Hope my question makes sense. Hi, in FM 12, how do I Customize Output for HTML 5?With the Publish dock open, and having already generated output, I see that one of my FM styles has been given a 144pt left position in the CSS. While this mirrors what the FM style is like, I want to edit that to be 0 in my HTML 5 output.So, I:Right-click Responsive HTML5 in the Publish window.Choose Edit Settings.Click the Style Mapping tag.Expand the Paragraph list.Select the style I want to modify (in this case, GlossaryDefinition).Click Edit Style. The CSS Rule definition for p.FM_GlossaryDefinition dialog box opens.The problem at this point is that the 144pt indent, that I can see in the HTML source, is not evident in the p.FM_GlossaryDefinition dialog box. Now, I know I can edit a CSS somewhere, but expect it will be overwritten each time I generate.So, why doesn't the p.FM_GlossaryDefinition dialog box have settings that reflect what I see in my output?Thanks,Sean

Hi there,I have to publish a Framemaker DITA structured doc in French.Everything seems to go fine except for small strings called "generated text" such as "Note" or "Tip" that still remain in English in spite of my setting the xml:lang attribute to fr-fr in the highest level of the ditamap file (as per C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\AdobeFrameMaker2015\fminit\ditafm\DITA-OT\xsl\common\strings.xml).Any ideas so I can get those strings to display in French?thank youpilou

MIF-washing, rebooting, uninstalling/reinstalling are not helping with this book. Our FM12 installation is patched with the latest. I haven't seen any other 'fixes' from Adobe.I've used FM off and on since 1996 and have championed it everywhere, but I'm seriously considering recommending another authoring tool.

TOC problem when tags pulled include sub or superscript. After the sub or superscript the link is dead. Any way to fix this other than manually copying the hypertext after the sub/super?

I have a document I inherited from a client.  It is messy in it's design, but it works for the most part.  When I save it as a PDF I have 4 links in my TOC that don't work.  I have looked at the document (different chapters) and can see no differences between the working links and the non-working links.  Additionally, ALL the links work in the bookmarks panel.  Can anyone provide any help?

Hi,I'm currently trying up update multiple text insets in multiple documents. The pathway is incorrect, and when select an inset and click update it also says that the file type has changed since the inset was last imported. Is there any way for me to show all documents where the new insets folder can be found, as I'm currently updating each inset's pathway manually. I'm using 2015, but am saving into 12. Thanks!

Is it possible to add color definitions (using Framemaker 2015) using an Adobe Swatch Exchange (.ase) file?I'm hoping there's a way, perhaps by adding a pointer in the maker.ini file, to these rather than having to manually add definitions for all the colors in our corporate palette.

Running FMv12 on Win7 pc.I keep adding a list of scripts to the Catalog, under Favourite [Favorites].After closing FM and starting it again later, the list is empty again.What to do so the list stays populated?Thanks,Dave

I see this show up in several places, in .ini files, and have tried commenting-out a few instances. But I cannot determine which lines will do the trick.Thanks,Dave

I have my preferences set to open documents as tabs, but they all open and minimize themselves. This makes opening a large number of files practically impossible as you have to find each one under Window and click on it. Then, drag it to the tab area. This is FM2015...

In the Style Mapping tab, it seems there is no way to override the Frame Above Pgf or Below Pgf from the Framemaker paragraph format. Is there a way to remove it when generating help files? I can find almost every other attribute to modify, but not those.The issue I'm having is that some heading and note styles use lines above and below paragraphs which are created from objects in the reference pages. I want to exclude those lines from the help output. Does anyone know of a way to do this? I'd prefer to not remove the lines from Framemaker before generating.Thanks,Darren

I am working in FM 2015, and I was under the impression that the mobile app output would look essentially the same as the HTML5 output in terms of how the text is presented. However, I just discovered that a paratag using checkboxes appears correctly in HTML5, but appears as o's (i.e. incorrectly) in mobile app. I thought my style settings applied to all outputs across the board, so I'm not understanding why it appears one way in one output and another way in a different output. Can anyone help? Thanks!

I used the Cover Page from the FrameMaker template, made the changes I needed to make and simply renamed the file to Cover.fm. So, here is the problem...I linking the same book file to RoboHelp (for single sourcing) to create a WebHelp. In the Topic List Pod in RH, the title of my cover page says, "Personal Spaceship Operations Manual" and the file Name says Cover.htm. I looked at the reference pages, and Master pages of in FM to find the original title and I don't see it anywhere. Since it is a linked project, I an unable to change the Title of the topic in RH. Am I missing something? Has anybody used the Cover page from the FrameMaker template where the title did not change? Thanks,Farnaz

When I import a Word file into Framemaker, the Word styles now appear to be automatically added to my paragraph styles list. Is there a way to override this behavior? Otherwise I end up with a bunch of unwanted Word styles cluttering up my Paragraph Catalog. Thanks and regards.JMW

Hello,I have received structured FM file from a client and I would like to convert this file to DITA.I have tried to achieve this several times by restarting from the beginning and by reading all the doc I could find, but I cannot manage to get my XML file.Below are the steps I followed:Open the file (2 Safety.fm).Create a new structured application (named "TEST") with no DTD, no read/write rules, etc, only template.Define structured application (TEST) for the document 2 Safety.fm.Export elements catalog as EDD.Save this EDD as a DTD.Corrected errors after doing this like missing parentheses or asterisks. DTD is correct according to Validome  (DTD and Schema Validator - Check for XML grammar).Save 2 Safety.fm as XML.Added line <!DOCTYPE chapter SYSTEM "....
