Hello,I'm using FM2015, and I have a large unstructured book with about 70 chapters. I updated the book and saw an error message I have never seen before: "Book is not self-consistent." I searched the obvious locations to try to figure this out but couldn't find any information. Hello,I´m trying to solve this problem with inserting pictures into the body paragraphs. Is there some Anchored frame or Paragraph style setting, that can automaticaly modify the Paragraph line space setting, which doesn´t let image to colide with line above, as you can see below? Now I have this settign and I don´t want to go lower than -4 pt, because it is not the solution of my problem to go lower. My colleagues that are currently using the PTC Arbortext normally instert pictures of control lights into the paragraph and the system automaticaly modifies the Paragraph line space according to height of image, see picture below: Thank you for your advices. Adam

I am using a .h header file that is provided to me by the development team, putting it along side the .book file, but when I generate the HTML5 it no longer generates the CSH mapping. All calls to the CSH URLs go straight to the default page. This worked flawlessly in FM 2017.I've noticed that the .h file that is added to the FM output folder has an extra line added at the end with a marker that doesn't exist, and that the .ppf file doesn't contain any <contextentry> nodes like it used to. Has anybody got CSH working in Responsive HTML5 with a provided .h file in FM 2022 ?

I have now tried about 7 times to install FM-17 (either the released version 17.0.0 or the updated version 17.0.1) to H:\Adobe\FrameMaker.17en. The installation runs to 88% and then issues an error code 183 - and the target folder is deleted. Between the installations I have rebooted the system to have a clear situation. There was no such problem to install FM-16.0.4 to :\Adobe\FrameMaker16.en. There was no such problem on Windows 10... The UI in W11 is also strange and difficult to read (dark grey on black, cropped inner window). To preserve some of my older FMs I tried the following installations: I did'nt really expect FM-8 to run in Win11, althoug it runs fine in Win10 - as all the other versions listed here also do. It is surprising that FM-11, 12 and 13 work absolutely fine, including the creation of PDF via distiller. FM-14 displayes a strange behaviour: the menu is only visible if the window is maximised (on a 32" wide sceen...). And some of the ETB features do not work co

Hopefully there is a simple solution to this issue. Running Framemaker 19 and recently I can select text and place my cursor in the file, but I cannot type, delete text, change formatting, etc. We've ruled out the file being locked and the keyboard being broken, but other than that we're stumped.  Restarting everything didn't work either. Thanks!

After so many years, we are still forced to print to .ps, then use Distiller when making PDF files from FrameMaker. That should not be the go-to in 2023. I would prefer to use Save As PDF, but unfortunately this option ignores the image compression settings chosen in the PDF-preset (and instead uses some fixed hidden settings that are not good). To reproduce the problem/bug:Insert a raster image (in my case an Ai-file containing a raster image) that is 330 PPI and some illustration-style graphics (to make JPEG compression artifacts extra visible). Create a PDF preset with the image compression settings set to JPEG, Maximum Quality, and to downsample images above 450 PPI to 300 PPI. (These are common defaults). Choose this preset in the Publish settings, and Save As PDF.  Print to postscript (.ps), and use Distiller to create a PDF (same PDF preset as before). Open both PDF files in Acrobat and compare. Expected result: Both PDF files should

I'm using Adobe Framemaker 2019 and within a book, when I refresh, the TOC is NOT getting updated. Never seen this before. Need immediate help.

I am using a List of paragraphs to creat a List of Effective Pages.  I need to add the chapter number at the start of each chapter's list of pages. To do this I have created a new text box at the right hand side of each first page in each chapter at the end of the chapter name line at the top of the page and entered the Chapter No. in this box using a unique paragraph tag. I have done it this way as the document content is largly finished and I don't want to add extra lines to the first page of each chapter as this will affect the pagination of the document. I can create the LOP document with all the entries I need. The problem is the info with the page version and date is placed on the line before the chapter number. See attached. I have tried rearranging the order of the lines in the reference pages. I have tried giving them differemt flows with the chapter number flow C and the page veriosn and date flow D.  How can I get the chapter number to appear fi

Not sure if all the PDF creation methods are ultimately using the same code, but I do know that calling the SaveAs method for a Doc object from scripting is extremely slow. I need the fastest PDF creation method that FrameMaker has to offer, but it should be possible to call it from ExtendScript. Any suggestions are welcome. And I am sure others will be happy with some positive answers, too.

This is an A6 page published to pdf with cropmarks. As can be seen the A6 page apparently changes size when using the offset feature in the Publish Dialogue. Ofsett should merely move the line further out of the bleed area - not change the entire page size. Is this not a bug?  

Anyone know if there are plans fro a native M1/2/3 version of Framemaker? I would lover to integrate it into my clients workflows. (Our environment does not permit Windows emulators).

This will be a tough two part question.With one template, we are having an issue where if you add a page break, FM will add disconected flow pages. For example, in a 9-page file, pages 6 and 8 will have headers and footers from the master page, but they will not have the dotted text border for the main flow content. So they aren't technically "Blank" pages.It seems to mostly happen before and after art pages (Page 7 has an anchored frame with an image on it.)Saving the file does not clear the pages. Manually selecting the pages does - i.e. Format>Document>Delete pages.But I would prefer to have a script so that I don't have to manually notice and remove the pages.Question 1: What causes this and how can it be stopped from happening.Question 2: I'm not sure how to prevent this. I found a script called RemoveEmptyPages from the .zip file at https://www.daube.ch/docu/fmaker88.html That is designed to just delete empty pages at the end of the document and then stop. I tried

Right now, when I save a PDF, clicking a cross-reference or bookmark will jump to the destination and align it to the top of the screen in Acrobat.  What I need to have happen is that when you click the link it will show the full page view. i.e., If I have a cross-reference destination at the bottom of the page, I need to be able to see the full page and not just the paragraph that the cross-reference is linked to. Is this possible without having to redefine all of my links after saving out the PDF? Thanks.

I want the second page of my document to be blank - no headers or footers. If I manually go to Format>Page Layout>Master Page Usage>Custom - There is an option called None which achieve this. I have the following script:function ApplyMasterPages(doc){var bodyPage = doc.FirstBodyPageInDoc;bodyPage.ApplyPageLayout(doc.GetNamedMasterPage('Cover Page'));bodyPage = bodyPage.PageNext;bodyPage.ApplyPageLayout(doc.GetNamedMasterPage('None'));}It doesn't give me an error, but it doesn't remove the headers and foolters either.I realize I could create a new Master Page without headers or footers and name it "Empty" and apply that it would probably work, but that seems redundant when the built-in option "None" should work. Thanks for the assistance!
