FrameMaker

I have many files that are booked. I want ot change the font of 1 style to another font. The paragraph designer is grayed out in the book. If I bring up the paragraph designer in 1 file of the book and change the font it only changes that 1 file, not all in the book.

Hi everyone,Maybe I should post a bug report, but I wanted to ask the community first.Since we started using FM22, we experience some very annoying behaviour : undoing certain actions (unchain for instance) takes a lot of time AND loses all manual formatting in footnotes (space above, etc.).Anyone has experienced the same issue ? I have seen several posts about issues with crop marks not printing with various FM versions, but no solutions. I have been using FM 2019 and printing books with the Adobe PDF printer driver, printing PDFs with registration marks, crop marks, and color bars. When I moved to FM 2022 from FM2019. using the exact same settings, the registration marks printed, but no crop marks or color bars. And when I try to use the publish pod to generate PDFs where I could explicitly select what marks to print, FM spits out a PDF without any text at all and no print marks either. The output has all the pages, mostly blank but with some of the graphics from the FM source but FM hangs without completing and I have to kill the process to recover. So I am assuming it is the interaction between FM and the Adobe printer driver, but I have run out of things to try to fix it. Tried rolling back to FM 2020 with latest updates and same issue. But FM 2019 still works. Has anyone else had this problem and actually

Hi,I am working on documents that have Symbol Table Body content, and I have added symbols approriate to the information. The issue is that when I save the book as PDF and open it, the symbols have moved from where I placed them. This is not happening at every instance.How do I get the symbols to stay attached to the Symbol Table Body sections?Please find two screenshots attached that show this issue.Thank you for any help.Cheers,Elizabeth   

I am testing FrameMaker 11 in a Windows 11 environment. on a test computer.When I open FrameMaker 11, I am receiving the following script error:Error in C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\AdobeFrameMaker11\startup\s1000dMenu.jsxbinLine 51:Invalid image dataWhy I am receiving this message and how do I fix it?

Good morning,I have a problem with Framemaker version 17 (release September 2022)After editing and saving a file, I close the book. When I reopen the book and open the file edited before, a warning appears that the file is already open by another user ( practically generated a .lck file). If I remove the .lck and open the file, I see that it no longer has the changes I made previously.Do any of you know how this is possible?

When trying to update Adobe FrameMaker 2020 6.4 the update screen states there is an update, but nothing else, no button to say "yes" but when we go to close it, it acts like it is updating, and asks if we want to quit the update.  but dose not show any progress, or anything. is there somewhere i can manually download the update and install in, or what is going on... i also notice that FrameMaker is not in my Adobe Creative Cloud app, like i figure it would be.

I have designed 3 book/ebook templates for Adobe FrameMaker in the three classic paper sizes, US Trade, Digest and Pocketbook. Most ebook publishing seems to have move to KDP, Lulu and and other similar places where Word is the manuscript standard. FrameMaker can do it as well, however and for mysterious reasons Adobe has never provided templates. I have a book with 6 Appendices at the end. I have set up the Appendices such that the first one is Appendix A (A=1) in the Autonumbering Properties, and the rest are Appendix ($chapnum). They are numbering just fine in the titles. The issue comes in my TOC, which when generated, looks like this (all of the numbered ones are showing as Appendix 0)>  My Reference View for the TOC looks like this with the orange showing the pieces I think are the issue. Please note that my ability to edit the reference info seems to be limited for some weird reason....I can't get the Appendix 0 to change>

Auf der Vorgabeseite habe ich ein graues Rechteck definiert. In der Arbeitsseite füge ich dann genau an der Stelle des grauen Rechteckes eine Grafik mit transparentem Hintergrund ein. Das graue Rechteck ist dann also eine Ebene tiefer als die eingefügte Grafik.  Im FrameMaker und auch in der exportierten PDF wird der eigentlich transparente Hintergrund immer weiß dargestellt. Was kann ich hier tun? Oder kann der FrameMaker 2017 nicht mit Transparenzen umgehen?   Verwendet wird der struktuierte FrameMaker Release 2017

I am using FM for the first time to modify the file from my customer.Do you know how to resolve the Caution label (image) as shown in the image?

I am working in a document where I want to allow line breaks after certain characters (> / \ ). The issue I'm running into is that I now have certain cases where the line will break before a period, so that the period is now at the start of the next line.Is there any way to allow automatic line breaks for certain characters but disallow breaks before periods?

I am wondering if there is a way to create comments in FrameMaker that would convert as sidebar comments in a Word document. I am assuming not because of the PDF coversion in between the Frame and Word conversions. If there is a method, without creating a Comments tag, then I would like to know what that would be. Currently, I have tag called BodyRed that identifies comments in red in the body of the FrameMaker book. Thanks!

There are 4 numbered styles. - Numbered- Numbered1 (for the first in a list)- Subnumbered1 (for the first in a list - 2nd level in a hierarchy)- Subnumbered Numbered 1 is used, followed by 3 instances of Numbered. Then when I apply Numbered again, I want the number to be 2 (the next level list is based on the alphabet, not numeric). However, the next number was 5. The building blocks in defining Numbered = <n+>< >< >.\t How do I fix this?

What is the most efficient way to convert an unstructured FrameMaker (19) to an XML web-based application? This is a loaded question, I know. However, I’m trying to figure out the best approach for the conversion. Although I’m very familiar with unstructured Frame I only have basic knowledge about structured Frame terminology and processes.  Is there a resource or guide for DITA XML novice users to assist with the conversion process? Unfortunately, the document requiring conversion is large and complex with numerous MathType objects and tables (tables with embedded MathType objects), cross-referencing, linked figures, etc. Is there a third-party program to assist with the process etc.? Reviewing/creating a conversation table appears to be a daunting task.

Hello all,I'm trying to create an LOEP (using Insert > List of Elements & Paragraphs) that displays the section title before its associated group of pages, but I'm running into a problem where Page 1 of each section appears before its associated chapter, and at the end of the previous section's range of pages (see example). What's going on with Page 1? It may be something I can correct in the reference page but I haven't figured it out. Reference page is pretty simple and consists of:<$paratext>                                         (heading)<$pagenum>   <$paratext>                 (page number and date) Thanks in advance.

Hi,I am trying to get the table title to appear on the following pages in a table. The table title is marked as Table Title, the first row of the table is entered as a Table Head, and the rows are labelled as Table Body. I have tried using View -> Panels -> Variables and selecting the Table Continuation entry, but when I place the cursor in the Table Title, the 'To insert a table variable, put the insertion point in a table's title, heading or footing' appears, and nothing happens.  When I placed the cursor in the Table Head and tried to add a table continuation, the continuation was added to the table head and not the table title.  What am I doing wrong?? Thank you for any help. Cheers,Elizabeth

Does anyone know how to change the tab order in FrameMaker? I have a large table to make and I want to change the tab order to go down the table instead of across. I think I did this one before but I can't remember how I did it. CRS or something.
