FrameMaker

Bjørn Smalbro developed two new templates for FrameMaker (). By newsletter I got knowledge that these were integrated in the newest FM version (17.0.0.226). In my installation of this FM version - downloaded from https://helpx.adobe.com/framemaker/kb/framemaker-downloads.html they are not present in any language. So I downloaded TCS 2022 from https://helpx.adobe.com/tech-comm-suite/kb/tech-comm-suite-downloads.html and find this (inspecting the ZIP file): The new templates exist in the US version, not in the other languges versions → Why are these templates not included in the standard FM distribution? and not at least for the EN version?

Hello,I am trying to import a TOC format from a sample TOC template which we created earlier, but after importing tabstop/tablead is not taking automatically, eventhough tabstop is setted in the paragraph format. Its taking tablead by manually pressing the tab button in keyboard, there are more 32 pages of TOC so I cannot do it manually for each line, please help with this issue. For more details please check the images.  In reference page tablead is showingBut, in body page no tablead between paratext and page number Paragraph settings is proper Tabstop is also showing correct Seeking towards your assistance.

Has anyone else experienced this? I installed FrameMaker 2022 today on Windows 11. When I open the app, it appears to attempt to open another window then the entire thing shuts down immediately. Anyone else have this issue? Any idea how to troubleshoot it?

Hello, I'm currently using Frameamker 8 in Win 10. The PDF converted from FM8 especially the asain fonts become unsearchable. As attached below, the texts copy and paste in search column are blank boxes.  Since PDFs exported from InDesign 2022 is fine, I suppose this is an issue regarding either FrameMaker, distiller or open type font.  I've changed the preference settings in Ditstiller as below but didn't make anything difference.Any help or ideas?Thanks a lot

I am trying to publish my book to HTML5 and the mini TOCs  are not being created as hypertext in the published HTML 5 output. When the mini TOCs were created "Create Hypertext Links" was selected and are functional in the FM book, but not in a published output.  I have also tried deleting and recreating the mini TOCs as well.  Any help would be appreciated! 

Dear colleagues, I have a problem with licensing TCS 2017 on the second computer. Company bought TCS 2017 years ago. That time, I successfully installed it on my office PC and worked with it. Now, due to situation in my country, I'm forced to install it on my notebook as well. In other words, when we are bombed, I need to work on notebook, when not I can continue working on office PC. I've installed TCS 2017 on my notebook. Then, on my office PC I made the "Sign Out" procedure (both for FrameMaker and RoboHelp). Then, on my notebook, I tried to "Sign In". I managed to sign in Adobe Manager, entered valid serial number, and tried to "license" the product. Adobe Manager constantly tells me that it cannot license the product, because there is no Internet connection (but in fact there is), and notifies me that I have only 30 days to license the product. What's the reason? Moreover, when I get back to my office PC and try to Sign In and License there, everything goes well. Could anybody ass

I use FM19 to publish our documentation as responsive html5 (Azure Blue template used.) It looks like that if a fm file is published as one single htm file, it will inherit the fm file name. And if a fm file is split up into several htm files, each htm file will be named after its first chapter title/heading. At least this is how I thought it was - until today when I decided to split a chapter (fm file) into two. I made a copy of the original fm file and gave it a new name, and added it to the fm book.The files are also from today set to each be published as several htm files. But the new fm file's first htm file is named the same as the original fm's first htm file, but having an 1 at the end. Example:Original file: alpha.fm, chapter titled "Alpha Guide" has the first htm file named Alpha_Guide.htm. New file: alpha_ref.fm, chapter titled "Alpha Guide Reference" has the first htm file named Alpha_Guide1.htm - which is odd. I'd like to have the second chapt

Say you have an unstructured book about how to make ice cream and you want to create a presentation about ice cream which offers a summarized view of the book. Usually, I would write the book in FrameMaker and make the presentation in PowerPoint.Is there a quick process to extract and publish content from the book as a presentation? The target file (be it pdf or html5) would have a different page size suitable for a presentation. Is that easy to do in FM or should I stick with PowerPoint for presentations? 

I have several books that import PDF graphics just fine and the graphics display in the file Save As PDF and Export to Word. I have a new book that imports the graphics, just fine, but does not display them in Adobe Acrobat file and obviously not in the Word export file, either. What could be missing? Thanks!

I have been using framemaker 7.1 for years so I am VERY familiar with that version. I had no choice so I had to update to version 15 that is VERYdifferent. I am struggeling with some of the very basic tasks. How do I  delete a blank page? I tried Format-Documnet - delete page and that did not work. What am I missing?

Hello all,I have a two-page title page with Pagination set to Double Sided, Delete Empty Pages, but FM keeps changing Pagination to Make Page Count Odd upon updating the book, which results in a third (unwanted) page. I've tried changing it to Make Page Count Even but this has no effect. However, if I move the title page to the second position (below the LOEP) in the book, it updates correctly and does not create an extra page. Moving the title page back to the top book position results in this (mis)behavior occurring again.

I have books which have headings and topics in 6-8 paragraph styles I want to include in the TOC; generating the TOC puts page numbers after each tag (see example) so for example I have Level1Tag1 and Level1Tag2 which go together (Level1Tag1 as run-in and Level1Tag2 as In-column) and I want the page number after the Level1Tag2 but NOT after Level1Tag1. Similar situations with some other tags. Is there a way to dictate that only certain tags get page numbers?

Nevertheless the dialogue title is English: I follow the method described in the Javascript Tools Guide under the heading Localizing ExtendScript strings. → Have I overseen something? → Does the process look for the Windows UI language (which in my case is English), not the FM UI language - which obviously is French?

FrameMaker 2022 comes with a Navigation Panel. And while it does give an excellent overview over your document structure, I am confused about the right click feature "Select Heading and Content". As far as I can see, nothing is selected when I do it. I am running Unstructured FrameMaker. Structured may be different. How is this feature supposed to work? I would expect it to select an the section indicated, so I might, for instance, copy/paste...

I am new to Framemaker 15. I have been using framemaker 7.1 for years and am very familiar with it. A cople things I cannot find are the toolbar to change from upper case to lower case. I also cannot find how to center align a picture on a page. I want it center aligned from top to bottom and from left to right.

I have a customer asking for what kind of version control system might be usable for a FrameMaker workflow in either structured or unstructured? Their main gripe seems be about managing language versions in an efficient manner. They have a lot of localized versions and have trouble managing the process and keeping overview. It is somewhat outside of FrameMaker, but I hope somebody here have experience or suggestions? ...

Conrefkey referenced images are not shown in FM2022 when publishing to PDF. They are shown in HTML5. Also both PDF and HTML5 worked fine when using FM2020. This seems to be a problem with the latest version of framemaker.  

I'm searching a book using ExtendScript.  I can do it opening each document individually using the code below. Is there a better way; possibly something like:  var book = app.ActiveBook; var comp = book.FirstComponentInBook; comp = comp.NextBookComponentInDFSOrder? I'm at the point where I'm about to launch my script on some unsuspecting editors. I've done as much testing as I can, but it's likely someone will run the script in a manner that wasn't intended.  Also, being somewhat of a novice, I'm sure I overlooked a necessary error trap or two.  Our editors don't have the ExtendScript Toolkit, so no way to stop a runaway script from there.  I've searched the web and this forum for any information on how to terminate (or exit) a running script from inside Framemaker.  Appreciate any suggestions. 

Hi,   FrameMaker 2020 (16.0.4.1062) I just wanted to use the plugin "Split current document" in File | Utilities. However, I cannot find it any more! I have a new laptop and do not have any older version to compare. I checked also these folders for anything with "split": c:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe FrameMaker 2020\fminit\Splitter\ (I do not know, if this is related; the folder exists, but still no menu item in FrameMaker) c:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe FrameMaker 2020\fminit\ c:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe FrameMaker 2020\fminit\Plugins\ c:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe FrameMaker 2020\startup\FileSplitter.jsxbin (is this the splitter utility?) Nothing with "split" in maker.ini. Does anyone know, if this plugin was removed from version 16.0.4? What should I do to get the Split current document utility back?   Yes. I restarted FrameMaker. Hello Team,I am having a standard template format for my project, where my work is to just edit that template & save-as it with a different file name.1st all the links in the template were working while exporting it to PDF.But now when I export the book into PDF the links i.e. when we click in TOC on some topic it should take us to that page, so this link is not working.Please can you guide me or provide me with some solution to get this issue resolved? 

We are trying to download the latest update (8) for FrameMaker 2019, but it is missing from the website. The Downloads page only lists up to Update 7 for FM2019:https://supportdownloads.adobe.com/product.jsp?product=22&platform=Windows But the Fixed Issues page, clearly states there was an Update 8 released recently that fixes a bad bug with .mif files:https://helpx.adobe.com/framemaker/kb/resolved-issues-framemaker-2019.html (Unfortunately we are unable to use the built-in update-functionality in the software). Does anyone have a link to where it can be found?
