FrameMaker

I have searched for an answer on this one. I have two files on the same computer. I publish one to PDF and all the images show up just fine. I publish the second one and no images. I havechecked all setting I can find and they are the same. I saved everything and restarted my computer and still nothing. HELP

Dear Forum-users,I'd like to know if there is a Download page for trials of older FrameMaker version. I'm looking for version 7.2 in particular because a customer wants us to work with this version. I am back to FrameMaker after years and never used conditions. From what I understand. The selected text has only one condition applied (Help) and that condition is on the Hide side. I did click Apply. An instance of this condition did become hidden, but many are still showing. Please help. Why is this not hidden?  

Using FM 2020 (16.0.1). We have recently begun using FM 2020, structured, with DITA 1.3. We are finding that the search function is incredibly slow. It is so slow as to make it almost unusable. When I search for a phrase that is in the last file in the DITAMAP, it takes 240-280 seconds (i.e. 4-5 minutes). When I search for that same phrase using Notepad++, it takes 6-7 seconds. This difference in speed is a factor of 40-50x. We have a few hundred DITA files in the DITAMAP (i.e. moderate size) and all files are stored locally on my hard-drive (i.e. the slowness is not due to network considerations). Does anyone else experience such incredible slowness with the search function? Why is it 40-50x slower than Notepad++?

Hello fans, I have the opposite problem to Copy text to Windows clipboard It happend only recently that I can not directly insert/paste from a translation of DeepL into the selected text in FM. But the problem has nothing to do with DeepL. Selecting text here - in the browser - and trying to paste in FM pasts on old Clipboard contents although a clipboard inspection shows new contents in HTML, Text and Unicode text The clipboard can be pasted without any problem to any app other than FM (in my case FM-19). CTRL+v does not change the selection or does not insert anything. Only CTRL+SHIFT+v (Paste Special), then Enter to paste Text changes the selection or inserts the clipboard contents.  

When I am applying a Heading cross-reference, the Cross-References Panel changes the Heading link to Cross-Reference. None of the other links created in the same page do this except this one. I have reapplied the Heading 1 to the topic. I have deleted the cross-reference link and reapplied but it still changes to cross-reference, instead of Heading.

FrameMaker 17/Windows 10I have some trouble using the option to pin recent files.1: Trying to unpin files which have been pinned - FrameMaker crashes2: Newly edited files should figure in the recent files list, but don´t3: It seems it is impossible for me to unpin the files which have already been pinned using the normal interface. Is it possible to delete the list somewhere else? In an ini file or "something"?This is the error dialog I get every time I try using the pinning feature. And I have already sent the errror report to Adobe.  

Hi group,I've got two partly overlapping images (PDF files imported by reference) in an anchored frame. When I publish my FrameMaker file to PDF (FM 16.0.4), I see that the images are transparent. How can I make the PDF image on the foreground opaque?In older versions of FrameMaker, there was this button of the middle of the Graphic Tools pallette which I could use for this purpose, but it seems to be gone in Fm 16.0.4. Kind regards Yves 

Maybe Adobe can give me more insight  here. I want to provide my toolbars also in French. Hence I was looking for the French User Guides in https://helpx.adobe.com/ch_fr/framemaker/archive.html It turns out that the guide for FM-16 is in English and also the guide for FM-17 I understand that it is somewhat early to complain about missing French (and German) user guides for FM-17 - But that for FM-16 should exist since some time. I did not find a (for this problem) relevant e-mail address on the French Adobe site.

I have an issue with editing and saving files, then remembering which file were changed. Ihave several manuals that are updated regularly. They all have several chapters in them.Not all chapters are updated. I want to add a variable that will post the date saved on the bottom. As updates are made and the chapter is saved, the date will show when, or if that chapter was updated. Any ideas would be helpful. 

Dear all - especially FM users with a German implementation. User Guide and other documentation is found by using the links provided by Help > Getting Stated > Learning Resources. But although these links claim to provide a PDF they actually provide the same thing as you are already in - a HTML thingy presented in a special app - not even a  browser. → Where are the UG PDFs located? → How to get them in another language (my installation is English International). Using the URL https://helpx.adobe.com/de/framemaker/help/help-resources.html provides the English version for FM-17... → Where to find older items: FM-15 (2019), FM-16 (2020), and also the newst one in GERMAN? Any help is welcome!  

Hi,In FM 2020, I have a table that continues over two pages. Within the table I have rows that have superscript. The definition for that superscript is placed after the end of the table. Is there a way to decrease the space between the end of the table and the text that explains the superscript. There is currently too much space between the end of the table and that text. Thank you. Cheers,Elizabeth   

I generated a MTOC for my document but it jumps to the next column way before it gets to the end of the first column. I "balance columns is unchecked in both the "Customize Text Frame" and "Column Layout". Any idea what's causing this (and how to fix it)? 

Hi all, When you install FrameMaker (2019,2020,2022) the version of English can be one of several, however I am particularly interested in North America (aka USEnglish) or International (aka UKEnglish). These options are also available if FrameMaker is packaged in the Adobe Admin Console, as shown below. The Use OS Locale, presumably overides this, unfortunately clicking the 'i' does nothing, so I can only guess. The choice, after a both a manual and a packaged installation seems to be reflected in two places:maker,ini - Language=UKEnglish under ;Frame] (this setting is not in the latest ini settings PDF); orthe registry - HKLM\SOFTWARE\Adobe\FrameMaker\17\Language=en_GB So the questions are:What is the effect of this choice, or at least what is different between the two. For example if I have the word 'realise' in text and run a spell check, I would expect it to pick this up if the language was International and vice a versa for 'realise' if the language

I have created a book with six front matter documents, then Chapters 1-17. Everytime I try to insert a stand-alone TOC, the chapter numbers I have set for each document revert back to their order in the book. In other words, no matter how I number my chapters, Chapter 1 always starts numbering as Chapter 7, because it's after the six front matter documents. Chapter 2 is Chapter 8, etc. I know there is a way to circumvent this, but it has been a couple of years since I used FM, and I'm a little rusty. Also, my TOC is just 20 pages of my cover page??? Never seen this before. Any help is appreciated. Nick

I have a lot of problems using Translation and export/import XLIFF. I am working with structured documents running FrameMaker 2020 16.0.4.1062 on Win10.The documents look ok. Valid structure. All cross references ok. All insets ok. All fonts ok. Nothing suggesting that this is somehow a corrupt document.When I export to XLIFF I get a "clean" conversion report with no errors. So IMPORTING the XLIFF I have just exported ought to work painlessly.Only it doesn't. FrameMaker crashes while importing into the exact same FrameMaker file the exact same XLIFF  I have just exported.And this time theres lot and lots of errors in the conversion report. Leaving me wonder about the reliablity of the first export report. Has anybody any experience to share regarding this feature?

I would love an extension of the book panel that displays a + sign next to each file in the book. Clicking on that plus sign would expand the file and list a hierarchical outline of its Double-clicking on a heading would take me to that section.Anyone has seen or has an extension that could do that?

I've got one very long continuous table broken up into three columns per page and a lot of pages of that... everything seems to flow well right up until the end, when this weird break happens; I tried fixing it by: selecting all then setting Page Break to "Place at its default location", changing Format > Column Layout so "Balance Columns" was unchecked, trying variations of "Keep With" options... nothing seems to fix it. Any ideas? 

Is there a way to save the chapters of a FrameMaker document as separate HTML files so that the cross-reference links between them work? If I save each chapter separately in HTML format, the links between them are broken. Thank you.

Hi all, If you have not seen this (as I did not) there is a new vunerability in FM 2019/2020 to do with SVG files and fonts (Fix critical vulnerabilities in FrameMaker | August 2022 (adobe.com)). Note that for us Aussies, the link on the Australian site is broken so you have to use the US site!). For any Adobe folk, was this posted to this community? If not, why not! It would also be nice if the FrameMaker team had packaged up the update, not left it as a manual copy of files. Jon

Hi,I am using FrameMaker 2020 and I am trying to figure out how to have the table numbers in the book appear in sequence. The book has many tables and there are 14 chapters.  Is there a simple way to do this, and if so, can someone please give me explicit information on how to achieve this? Thank you in advance. Cheers,Elizabeth   

We are also struggling with the result of the HTML5 output. When the file is export as a PDF all hyperlinks work fine, but when exported to HTML5 the link adress is modified if the adress contain characters as "?". If a link to a external file end like this: http:xxxx/view the adress in the HTML output is modified to http:xxxx/view%20 We have contacted the support about 15 times during the last six month, more or less without any response from Adobe and they just close down ticket. Still waiting for a solution -not any manual work around. Also have the problems with broken internal X-ref.   Very disappointed  of Adobe unproffessional support and ignorance of their customers. After this we now active looking for other solutions to create proffessional manuals with any Adobe involvment.

Is there any method to batch remove conditional tags (both used and unused) from FrameMaker 17 documents without writing or buying a script?

Being one of the people that (dare I say) like using the Welcome Screen, I've customised the Welcome screen in both FM2019 and FM2020. In particular, I've added the following HTML to open a PDF document located on our corporate network: <a href="file:///K:\Training Admin\Training Collateral\Source Material\Templates and Style Guides\Style Guide\Structured Style Guide\PDFs\Current\Training Manual\Structured Style Guide.pdf" target="_blank">Open PDF</a> In both FM2019 and FM2020, this works perfectly. Click the link and the PDF document opens in Adobe Reader. In FM2022, I can't seem to get it to work the same. Using the same HTML, nothing happens when I click on the link. For some reason, FM2022 doesn't recognise the target="_blank" attribute. If I remove the target="_blank" attribute, the PDF does open, (it does replaces the Welcome screen tab, which is annoying but understandable), so I know there's no problem opening the PDF. It just won't open with Adobe Re
