InCopy

We have experienced workflow disruptions due to the "Hide Notes" function in InCopy. Is there any way that to disable the "Hide Notes" function entirely? Some teammates are accidentally toggling this feature, causing all notes to disappear without a clear visual indicator of the change. This results in confusion and wasted time as they try to figure out how to restore the notes. Thanks!

Hi - I have an editor using the latest version InCopy on a Mac running macOS 15.6. In the past, we used a PostScript Type 1 Font called Whitney. We stopped using this as Adobe no longer support it and now use a paid version of Whitney, which is a True Type font. In the past 2 days, when she opens an InDesign file in InCopy, she gets a message stating that the file is missing several Whitney T1 fonts. The message says they may be missing because they are 'no longer available’. The next step was to go back to the designer. She opens the InDesign file and now sees the same message about T1 fonts. So, she fixes the problem, and the message no longer occurs. Now, when the designer opens the same file, it looks fine... but if she makes any change and saves it, the next time she opens the file, she's back to getting the same message about unavailable Whitney (T1) fonts. Any insight would be appreciated, as this makes no logical sense. Got a weird one. Suddenly inCopy (and inDesign) are splitting a font that I've used regularly in the past into pieces, rendering them unusable. Minion Variable Concept, which originally just had Regular, Italic, etc. options. now has a slew of "Text-9.500" etc. options, each relating to a different font size. See attached. So now when I open a file that uses these, all these "Text-10.000" etc. fonts are missing.  My designer is using the same version of inDesign that I have and the same fonts (he re-sent me the font files, just to confirm) and has no issues. Weirder, if I open an old .indd from a project three months ago, which worked perfectly at the time, I get the same font errors. Even worse: This seems to be making both inDesign and inCopy crash.  I've reinstalled both inCopy and inDesign multiple times, reinstalled the font, tried multiple different files, etc. No luck. macOS 15.5, tried it in inCopy 20.4.1 and 20.4. Has anyone seen an issue like this bef

Hello, we will be starting to work with InCopy with our team. The way I am going to work with my team is, I, the designer, will be creating the file. Then I am saving the stories on a server we all have access. Then reviewers will open the InDesign file in InCopy, make their edits, and then I will be applying them on InDesign. The only thing right now is not working for me is the Track Changes panel. I have these questions if someone can please help me:- Do we have to select "Track Changes" in InCopy everytime we check out and edit a text box? - When I open the file on InDesing, I have the Track Changes panel, but can't use any of the tools (to move to next change, to accept...) So I only can update when I go to links and update the link (icml)I appreciate any suggestions

When InDesign crashes, it saves something to make the current edits recoverable. Does InCopy make a recoverable file when it crashes, to presrve the latest edits?

For example, I have a paragraph that I reuse in multiple InDesign files for the same product. I would like to create one parent link that is assigned to each of those InDesign files, so that when I make a change I only make it once. Is this a capability of InCopy? Or is this something that InDesign is capable of? (I realize this is the advantage of having a CCMS, which we don't have yet.) 

Hi, I am trying to open an .icma-File, which was assigned to me. But it will not open. I get this error-message:"The document cannot be opened. You may not have the appropriate access rights, or the file is already open. If multiple users have access, close the file and enable write protection for the file in Windows Explorer."I am the only one having the file open. Opening it with write protection also does not work. Do you have any ideas what causes this problem and how to fix it?Thanks, Veronika

Hi,We are running Creative Cloud Desktop and InCopy on a Microsoft RDS server farm for our approx 150 incopy users.The setup works impeccably except for one annoying issue;Because we work in a virtual environment with load balancing the users can be directed to different servers when we log on.In this environment, we are using VHD-based user profiles, meaning that each user's profile is stored on a virtual hard disk (VHD), which is dynamically attached to the server they log into within the RDS farm.The issue arises because Adobe identifies each server as a new device based on server name, IP address, and network adapter. Even though the user's VHD profile remains the same, Adobe perceives it as a new device each time the user switches between servers in the farm. As a result, Adobe requires a new login session upon each connection. Surely, we can't be the only ones using the teams software in this manner...Does anyone have en idea how to solve the issue? Thank

This is not the first time this has happened to me, but the problem went away for a good while. Now it's suddenly back. Every time I type a note, it's in all caps (I don't have the caps lock button on). This is happening on two different Macs, even one that I recently completely wiped and re-loaded with Adobe software.  I can turn it back to normal if I highlight the text and either hit shift-command-k or go to the Paragraph Styles panel and select "basic paragraph," but both are a little bit of a pain. I can't find any options in the preferences section that will fix this. Does anyone have any ideas? Is there some place you can globally set paragraph styles for Notes?

Eu utilizo a fonte Poppins, da Adobe Fonts, nos meus estilos de parágrafo e crio os artigos para edição no Incopy. Ao abrir o arquivo no Incopy por terceiros, o software tenta substituir a fonte por Poppins (OTF). Alguém sabe o motivo?

It' a complete mess, the articles are absolutely not following the pages' order. I tried to put the text frames in the articles panel with no avail… Any help appreciated. I also tried ID/IC 2024 with the same result. 

I've made some InCopy editorial changes to a document and saved to a shared Dropbox, but when a colleague accesses the same file, the changes are not on her document.The only reason I can fathom is that I am working on version 19.5.3 and she is using 19.5  but we cannot find a way for her to upgrade to the same version - all it offers is the 2025 version, which we've found to be full of glitches and a hindrance to all.Does anyone have any suggestions?? 

Nearly everyone in my company who works on a Mac has been having issues with InCopy crashing frequently. We've tried reverting to earlier versions, but that's resulted in very little improvement in performance—and earlier versions will not open INDD files in InCopy. I'm looking for ideas and help ASAP—our workflow has been seriously disrupted. Here's my setup, for reference:  InCopy 2024 (19.2 and 19.4) and 2023 (18.5.1)Mac OS 14.5 (though I had the same problems when running 14.4.1) Things that have made InCopy crash recently:Checking out stories.Checking in stories.Pasting text into a note.Typing in a note.Replacing text in a note.Changing from Layout to Story view.Accepting all changes in a story.Rejecting one change.Dragging the tools window to the margin.Typing too fast I guess.In Story view, typing to replace text.

I follow the step-by-step instructions from the official site, and everything goes fine... but no message ever comes to the collaborators (for the test I'm sending it other emails that I own that have Adobe IDs attached, so I know it's not going into spam or anything ). Clicking the 'copy link' button in the Content Editing panel doesn't copy anything to the clipboard. Is this feature geographically locked or something? (I'm in Europe)Does anybody have any ideas?

Ein Grafikrechner erstellt die Layout- sowie InCopydateien in InDesign und die Redakteure redigieren die Texte in InCopy. Alle benutzen Mac und wir arbeiten mit InDesign 2023. Jetzt kommt ein Windows-Rechner dazu, der an den selben InCopy Dokumenten arbeiten soll. Geht das überhaupt und gibt es dor Schriftenproblem oder andere Problem? Vielen Dank, Tokka

Ik noem dit diefstal, maak het voor je klanten eens eenvoudig,Waarom kan ik het abonement van InCopy nergens vinden, ik had alleen een proefversie gevraagd maar krijg wel maandelijks de rekening. Volgens de wet kan dit dus niet en zal ik klacht moeten indienen.    

I'm looking for something that I can use in Dreamweaver that will allow me to set the type box and then let a collaborator to make edits/changes. I was wondering since these are both Adobe products, will they work together?

Will InCopy become compatible with snapdragon copilot+ laptops anytime soon? 

I have started using InCopy for all my placed documents that I am putting into my InDesign documents.I am trying to place images in my file, but I cannot seem to find the Text Wrap like InDesign has. Is this in InCopy? If so where is it?

I want to set my InCopy paragraph styles and character styles to match the defaults I have set in my InDesign document. I have a set of paragraph styles and character styles that I use in all my InDesign documents. Can I export my paragraph styles and character styles from my InDesign document and put them into InCopy so that when I create a new InCopy document they will always be there?If so, can someone point me in the right direction on how to do this. I have search and just can’t find any info on this.

Hey! I'm having issues saving my Incopy Document as a pdf. I'm editing my copy and it saves correctly in InCopy, but when I export as pdf none of the edits show through?

When the preference is set to open in Layout Mode in InCopy without any documents open then, when opening a document the navigation options bottom left are dimmed.Minimizing the programme, returning to the desktop, and maximizing the programme again the options become available... Both on Mac and Windows.We've had the issue for the past 3-4 years, I've shown it to Adobe twice and apparently it's send to the developers, without any resolvement.Am I the only one with this issue? or does anyone else experience the same?Any ideas? Ole 

hi! so i’m currently editing a book in design with incopy assignments within it. i want to create a copy of the file to then share with my client via drop box. the issue i’m facing is that i would preferably want one copy on drop box and another locally on my laptop, and to do so seems to be problematic because of the icml links. i have exported all the content in the indesign doc as icml files so i can easily add them to assignments when needed, but now to create a copy, that copy is still linked to those original icml files. im wondering if it’s possible to “re-export” the content in the copy as icml files, or duplicate those icml files so they are almost like a separate set only used for the copy? if more context is needed let me know! 

Does anyone here know how to add a MindSuite Pro 2025 to InCopy? It only works on InDesign, and I have not found any way to add it to InCopy at all.As for customer service of mindsteam software, it does not answer questions or respond to any inquiries.There are many bugs!!

Hello! I have been getting progressively more frustrated by this incopy issue. Currently using 19.4 (this is work software and I am not in charge of my own updgrades). See attached screenshots in full screen. Whether expanded or collapsed, my toolbar window is stretching across and PAST my entire screen (so I cannot even access the tools), blocking my working document. When collapsed, each individual toolbar will expand across the screen when opened. No matter what, the toolbar is resistant to being narrowed. The "Expand Panels" button to expand all does not respond at all — I have to expand each panel individually or restart incopy to expand them all at the same time, which then leads to the entire screen being hidden. Incopy is completely useless to me at this point. I prefer working in advanced workspace and have tried resetting the workspace as well as using essential view and creating my own custom workspace — still having the same toolbar issues.
