Maybe someone can help solve a problem someone on our magazine production team is having. An editor using InCopy for collaborative work opens an InDesign file and IC crashes immediately. It's vexing because it doesn't happen for her with other files nor with other team members opening the "problem" file. We have eliminated other obvious culprits, everyone is running IC/ID 2018 v13.1 and the designer and editor in question are working on on Macs with Sierra 10.12.6, 16MG. We all access shared files on our network. The editor having this IC crash problem has no issue when working on other ID files. One temporary fix seems to be if the Designer opens the ID file and resaves it, the editor can then use IC to open that ID file wo crashing. But this step must be repeated again and again. It's a pain and confusing. We think it may have to do with something in the specific InDesign file we use for that column but don't really know what that might be since other editors are not having the same
Unable to open InDesign doc through InCopy. My editor can't access indesign thru incopy. Getting error message: "cannot open file is open by another user" My computer: MacBook Pro, OS is High Sierra 10.13.3, InDesign CC 13.0.1, Incopy 13.0.1. My editors computer: PC, Windows 8.1, InCopy 13.0.1 x64
Is there a way to reuse paragraphs or content including graphics in an InDesign - InCopy workflow?I do not want to reuse a complete chapter or assignment but maybe just a paragraph or a caution that I use throughout the document or in multiple documents, so that when I update the content it gets updated in all places at once? Thank you!
Having some trouble with a magazine I am working on. I am the designer and I have two editors. Editor 1 works in the same office as I do. Editor 2 works in another state. We are all collaborating on this project via Creative Cloud, so we can all open the file at the same time (me in InDesign, them in InCopy) We all have CC2018 and have all installed the latest updates. We all work on macs. Editor 1 keeps getting messages that say the .indd file is damaged. She is just working along nicely, then her InCopy crashes, and she get this error message when she attempts to open it back up. As a fix, (I make sure BOTH editors are out of the file before I do this) I remove all inCopy assignments (I am working in InDesign) make a copy of the Indd document in Creative Cloud, then re export all the copy to InCopy. Then both editors open the NEW .indd doc directly to InCopy and everything is fine for a while. I had Editor1 reset her preferences, but she got this error message again, a day later.&nbs
Hello,I am having an issue with the Creative Cloud 2015 versions of InDesign and InCopy. Recently, both of those programs started to crash right after Initialization. I receive a crash report each time. However, this is not occurring for all users. This is occurring on MacBook Air Early 2015 models. They are running MacOS 10.10.5, hence why I we are running the 2015 versions of CC programs. It is only affecting these two programs and only for most non-admin users(i.e. Students). This was reported to me about 2 weeks ago. No system or program updates would have been ran just prior to that. Here is the crash report: Process: Adobe InCopy CC 2015 [456] Path: /Appli - Pastebin.com Steps I have attempted thus far:-Wiping out user preferences via keyboard command at startup-Reinstalling programs-Repairing Disk Permissions via Disk Utility-Temporarily granting read and write permissions to affected user account for programAre there any other step
Hello! Is there any solution that makes Adobe Incopy and Indesign Creative Cloud 2017 applications remember the new window size and position? After every restart, I have to resize my window and it is really annoying. I tried reinstallation, deleted AppData Local and Roaming folders and let that Adobe programs create them again, I tried to find registry setting, but nothing worked. Is this the way it works?Thank you for your help!

I have installed a new instance of InCopy CC on a Windows 8.1 system. The install was done through the Adobe CC app and appeared to go well. However, on starting InCopy, it starts to open and then a dialog box comes up saying that it has stopped working. No message number or error code in the message.Adobe CC was signed in at the time.InCopy CC was started from a desktop or start menu icon so no ICML file was involved.Rebooting, no change.Uninstall & reinstall, no change.Does anyone have any idea what is going on here?
Hi my Incopy crushed and all work lost. I don't understand how the file that was saved few hours ago, content has disappeared after crushing? Please help
I downloaded the InCopy 2014 version I need for a client project, but had to uninstall because it was not running correctly. I went to reinstall and it's no longer in the Creative Cloud list. How do I get it again?
Hello,I recently made changes to a file and saved it. Then I try to open it again and got this message: Cannot open file "". Adobe InCopy may not support the file format, a plug-in that supports the file format may be missing, or the file may be open in another application. I thought it might be open elsewhere, so I made a copy file and still can't open that (with name change). There are no hidden files anywhere in the folder. Can anyone help? I cannot spend more time on it as it's a time urgent project!
I use InCopy CC in a remote location on a PC with Windows 10, and the packages I receive are downloaded to the Documents folder under This PC. I would prefer to download them to Documents under OneDrive, for backup and accessibility. Is there a way to change the default location? I found a discussion about this from 2008 - can they really not have fixed this 10 years later?
Does Adobe InCopy CS5.5 will compatible with InDesign CC. My client only has InCopy CS5.5 and will not ready to upgrade. I have only InDesign CS6 and InDesign CC. Would it possible to work InCopy 5.5 workflow with InDesign CC?I’d be really grateful for your advice - thanks!Sanjay
Hello everyone,We work in a Mathematics document, and of course we have some Mathtype... So we are able to modify the Mathtype in InCopy, but when we do changes, its scale the image (reduce image). So, we need to put it back at 100%. I don't see anywhere a menu in InCopy to scale at 100% the Mathtype... unless the designer need to pass all over the document to put back the Mathtype at 100% in InDesing... Is anybody can help?Thaks!
I have a few editors experiencing the same problem on InCopy, when editing in layout view. When they open the assignment, the text is shown only in the first frame with the + icon in the bottom right corner. The text should fill the other two columns as well. If I look at the InDesign document, all text frames are part of the assignment and the text is showing properly in the three columns. Any way to fix this issue?
When I import an InCopy document into InDesign, sometimes it shows up in the assignments panel with the file name ("City Hall"), but sometimes it shows up with the InCopy template name ("1 Col Story") from which it was created. It's not ideal, more irritating than anything else, but I'm not sure how to fix it or tell others how to fix it...Ideas??
Can I edit mathematical formulas as fractions, integrals, powers, functions, etc. in this program?Everything with which I met before, breaks the mathematical equations into different lines. As a result, when I try to save in .fb2 format for an e-book, the text loses its entire structure. Will another file format help in solving the problem? Or is this program does not designed to work with the technical focus of literature?
I have been working on a large project with my team. It is in the final phases of edits. Now the InCopy users (myself and one other) can't open the indd document without it immediately crashing. I use a Mac and my colleague uses a PC. We both are experiencing the same issue with it crashing. Our in-house tech support suggested updated the InCopy software to the 2018 version, but I am experiencing the same issue. We are on a deadline and this issue is making it difficult to move forward. Our designer is having no problem opening and editing this file in InDesign.
Hello good folks! I'm a new InCopy user and when I try to open an InDesign file saved to a DropBox, I get the following error message: Simple, right? Well I'm using Adobe Creative Cloud and it's all updated. When I click open the "versions" tab of InCopy, only versions 12 and earlier are available. We opened the same Creative Cloud account on a co-workers machine and did not get the same error message, so it's something to do with my machine. I've got a 2013 MB Air that is all up to date. I am getting a little low on memory, but I'm not getting any error messages related to storage or things being out of date... Any ideas about how to resolve? Thanks!
I have a basic question regarding the flow of revisions for an InCopy article that has been placed in an InDesign document. We are a retail cataloger and are considering using InCopy to create a copy database of product copy that can be placed in InDesign layouts allowing a designer to work on changes to the layout at the same time a writer is working on changes to the product copy. There are two problems we see with this scenario - 1) if we place that same InCopy article in multiple InDesign layouts, but change the formatting in only one of the layout - does that formatting change affect all occurrences of that InCopy article? and, 2) if we make changes to that copy article within the InDesign layout, does that change get pushed out to the InCopy article or do we need to make the change in the InCopy article and push it out to the InDesign layout? Is the flow unidirectional or bidirectional?Sorry for the poor sentence structure - I'm a Production person, not a copy person. Is anyone el
I am fairly new to InCopy, so I apologize if this is a stupid question. Is there a way for me to set styles to be used in new documents? For example, say in document one, I have set up different paragraph styles (say, header 1, header 2, lists, etc), and want to use those in new documents going forward. While I am aware that you can import styles used in specific documents, is there a way for me to have those styles imported for new documents? In MS Word, for example, you can set styles to be "default", so when you boot up a fresh document, you are all set to go with your heading styles, paragraphs, etc. Any advice on how to accomplish this, if possible? Thanks in advance!
hi there. I'm new to the forum and the product. I'm using it for a project through a vendor. It's great...except when I try to use the note tool. It lets me start writing one, but then I can't go back to any other tool and it just tells me it's stopped working and send reports to Microsoft. I'm using Windows 10. I'm at a loss and if I don't get this solved, I'll lose my ever-loving mind. Anyone have any experience or ideas? This is the only time it crashes. Thank you!!!!!
In the middle of the text in the storyview the text shows all letters beneath eachother? See the image.Paul
I'm new to InCopy and I'm considering making it part of our workflow. However, the layout view doesn't seem to work.We would use it for novels, that have trim dimensions of 5.5" x 8.25". However, in the layout view, the dimensions are always standard letter size, 8.5" x 11". Also, recto and versos don't match. I've tried re-saving as IDML and still have the same issue.See below.InDesign view (correct):InCopy view (incorrect):It's really not even close. Any help would be appreciated!
