I had so much success with my 1st post (question) Thanks @rob day Next question. Have a text box at top of page that is the document version. For proofing to client, I need this to print so client can see what version they are looking at. But when printing the live print I need to make this texy box non-printing. Looking for a script that can make text box non-print.  I have tried this script: document.textFrames.item("version").nonprinting = true; I have the text box labeled using script label as “version” (with no quotes).I am getting below error:I also tried the below script: var version = doc.textFrames.itemByName("version");version.nonprinting = true; Getting this error:Again Thanks VERY MUCH for all help and comments! 

I am adding page numbers on a Master Page in InDesign 2022 and there are icons surrounding the text box. I've figured out what the yellow box on the right does,but I can't figure out what the little white "page" icon on the left is or what it does. Any ideas?

Bonjour tout le monde, Je rencontre un petit soucis avec ma liste numérotée qui correspond à des notes dans un texte. Rien de bien compliqué, j'ai appliqué une liste numérotée à mon bloc de texte, et j'ai crée un style de caractère spécifique pour les numéros pour qu'ils soient en exposant. Ca fonctionne bien, or les chiffres de 5 à 9 ne se mettent pas en exposant, et ce sur plusieurs pages différentes.Quelqu'un saurait m'éclairer sur ce que j'ai raté ? Merci !

My questions: Hello Adobe Community My problem is the following: I had to buy a new PC with Windows 11, because my old PC cannot be upgraded to Windows 11.I have now reinstalled all the programs, including the Creative Suite CS 5 Standard. The software was previously used on the old PC and on a laptop, but was never used at the same time. After installing it on the new PC, I was able to log in and register without any problems. But the next day I was asked to log in and register again. But this no longer worked, a message came up saying that there was a timeout for the activation of CS 5. I tried several times, but it no longer worked.   How can I solve the problem? I have to produce my newspaper for our community on this PC, although only every 3 months, but it is therefore very important that it works again as soon as possible. I think I've seen someone write a script.That script but changes the entire page.I've found that only the content in the typearea will be misplaced.Is there any way to move the affected pages, by odd, or even, 3mm to the left or right, respectively?Objects within the page center do not need to be moved.I found the example below, when you delete page 2, there is an unusual bug+?What the heck, the chunks move far more than 3mm to the left . 

Hi,I frequently use the "cursor key" in InDesign and had previously set up a keyboard shortcut for this function. Unfortunately, I've lost my custom shortcut set and can't remember where I originally configured it. I'm not referring to "Units & Increments" in the Preferences. What I'm looking for is a smaller dialog window where this can be set more specifically. No scripts were involved. Does anyone know where I can find this setting again? Thank you!

All of a sudden I am not able to drag objects in any InDesign document (Well, I assume it's ANY document. I've only tested a few.) I can drag handles/corners to resize an object; I can nudge an object with arrow keys; I can move objects using Object > Transform > Move; but I can't drag anything with the mouse/trackpad.This is happening with all objects in all of the documents I've tested (both text objects and image objects). I've tried using a trackpad and a mouse. I checked to be sure that objects were not locked or anchored. I've trashed the preferences. Still no luck.I'm using InDesign CS4 on Mac Snow Leopard (10.6.8). I have Better Touch Tool installed -- with the trackpad I do not have any actions that are specific to InDesign but with the mouse I do, to disable two-finger scrolling in the app. The trackpad is the only new thing on the computer...Any ideas?

I want to add this symbol "☾" but it only appears as a square in the InDesign file. And the app doesn't have that symbol in the option. Can I add it as a new glyph or am I stuck with the only ones they have? :") Also, the unicode for that symbol is "U+263E"  Thank you in advance!

Hi, I have tried to find what is the issue on the other posts, but with no luck – all hyphens gets highlighted as substituted glyphs in all fonts and with every document, therefore I'm sure it is not the font issue of lacking the glyph. It just drives me mad, what do I miss here? 🙂 Thank you in andvance! 🙂

Hi everyone! I have a small problem but i really dont know how to fix it. A few months back i created a standard stroke type, with an white outline/ offset around my stroke.Now i need to get something similar, a small outline in black, but i cant figure it out anymore how i achieved this... I searched everywhere, and my AI assistant also cant give my anything usefull. So i nearly tought it was impossible but i still have an object styles as proof for myself. The same stroke, one with the offset the other one without. Thanks already! -Nick

I can't do anything in InDesign except move the document around because the cursor is stuck on the handtool. Also, the space bar closes the file (also in Illustrator). I've tried everything I could find that was similar. HELP

What's going on?I'm ready to export an entire book and all of the sudden it's not showing me so many fonts!!

My book in Book Antiqua font is no longer supported by Adobe InDesign and alternatives I tried caused text to over-run or not fill up page space causing great gaps. Is there a replacement font that is supported and will be of the same size so as to avoid my rewriting the entire book!

I want to apply character style named RED using GREP Styles/Nested Styles but only till the first : from the start and the last parenthesis. I have a lot of very short footnotes in a text (usually consisting of just one word). I think it would look better if I could summarise these footnotes so that there are several on one line. Can this be realised with InDesign? (It is possible with Affiniti Publisher, but...)

I have just updated to the latest version (20.3) and, upon pulling down on the Help menu, I couldn't help but notice that the search field that was in there has disappeared.Why was this removed? What was the rationale behind that? How can we get it back? I will gladly revert to 20.2 and stay there if this is deliberate. 

hi, InDesign keeps crashing when I save a file and renames my files to 'Testfile981xxxxx....' It has been like this for months but it has got to the point where it is unusable! I have uninstalled and reinstalled it with no change. When it crashed I get the errors attached.I'm using a Macbook 15.4.1 Software and 16GB Memory, M1 Pro. I have uninstalled and reinstalled InDesign many times. I use idrive to save my files to, but have also started saving locally with no change. Can anyone help please as I have a print deadline looming and I need to get the magazine I'm working on finished.
