One of my coworkers set up an Indesign table for the area circled in red. I am unfamiliar with Indesign’s table feature, and I need to delete the row highlighted in black. Would someone explain how to do this function? Also, how would I add a row if needed? Thanks!

it works perfeclty if i just apply an exsiting style, the moment I want to create my own style pack this message appears, when i click it away, it will come back like 5 times then indesign crashes, I have updated indesign but still the same issue, any ideas ? <Title renamed by moderator>
Using Windows 11, current version of InDesign.Trying to complete the digital/ebook version of a book.First, I’m not new at this. Been writing and doing my own publishing for 37 years. I have never had this particular glitch before. No matter what I do, all my centered graphics are left-aligned when exported to epub. The exact same file does fine in both 8x10 and 6x9 print versions, using all the same graphics and settings.Object styles are used for all graphics.I’ve tried using other graphics I’ve used many times before with no problems, and graphics I’ve never used. Same result.I’ve tried resetting the default graphics style, even creating a new one.I’ve tried using a new template, both my own, and ones offered in ID panel.I’ve closed ID and reopened. I’ve rebooted my computer.I’ve checked for updates on PC and in Adobe CC.I’ve rolled back InDesign to previous version (as suggested repeatedly on various forums and help sites). This did not change the problem. Graphics are still left-al
____________________________________________________________________1. InDesign Loses Hyperlinks from Placed InCopy TextHyperlinks created in InCopy are randomly dropping from InDesign documents. I can find no repeatable pattern or reason.Documents that had placed InCopy text with Hyperlinks drop the link altogether from the Hyperlinks panel in InDesign.Video of the process: Problem and WorkaroundI found this workaround, and it was fine last month, but the InCopy Hyperlinks are now dropping again! If I create a New document and place the InCopy text with a hyperlink, everything works fine. If I OPEN a previously created InDesign document with InCopy text, the hyperlinks drop intermittently. My InDesign Hyperlinks panel is sorting alphabetically, so the Securing the ServiceNow AI Platform link should appear in the Hyperlinks panel after the InCopy text is updated. The hyperlink does not appear. To make it work: Copy the InCopy text frame from the previously created InDesign document. Pas
Ever since updating to the new version of InDesign (about a week or two ago), I encounter inconsistent behavior with expanding individual panels on the right side when you click on the panel name. Sometimes, the won't expand. When this occurs, I also cannot open the panel as a stand alone window by selecting it from the Window menu. However I CAN use the << at the top of the Panel menu to expand all the panels. Once it occurs, if I close InDesign and reopen it, that usually fixes the problem. I have not been able to find a consistent thing that causes this to happen. I think it might occur more when opening files that have not been saved in the current version, but sometimes doing that does not cause the problem.
So I have sets of illustration in separated artboard (same layer) in Illustrator. But when I am importing it to InDesign, some parts of the illustration is missing. It occurs on some illustration, especially reused graphic asset from Freepik. Funny enough, this isn't happening using the previous version of Indesign. Right now I am using the current latest 21.0 (not beta). What I have done for the workaround;saved into a new file, only the error artboard. not working.saved the error artboard into EPS, works. But I wish everything works in native format.
Question: Since the spacing of the last line has not changed, special handling is needed. Do I feel a bit clumsy in my current way of thinking?Do you have a simpler science?Target: Current text box.Status: cursor in line (not selected)Original Leading: 20.8 points.Operation result: Set the line spacing in the current text box to 19.35;Exception: The last line spacing is still 20.8 (special handling required)/** @Function Add a line and apply new line spacing**/var d = app.activeDocument;var item = d.selection[0];//Insert point to select the entire text boxif (item.constructor.name == "InsertionPoint" && item.parent.constructor.name == "Story") { item.parentTextFrames[0].texts[0].select();}//Setting line spacing: An extra line has not been selected at this timenewItem = d.selection[0];var oLinesNum = newItem.lines.length;for (i = 0; i < oLinesNum; i++) { newItem.lines[i].leading = 19.35}Later, I added this paragraph and was able to handle the last line, but I always
I’ve been having major issues with InDesign locking up ever since this update. It doesn’t crash so it doesn’t send a report either. At least two times every day, I need to either force quit the app or restart. It is very frustrating!
I frequently create brochures, and at some point in the project without fail the share for review link stops allowing me to update content. The review links are an integral part of our workflow, and for my non-brochure work they are fine (although I have to update those less frequently), but with my brochure documents it will allow me to create a new link, but after that I can no longer publish any changes. I’ve tried uninstalling and reinstalling InDesign, turned off and on countless times, ensured the document I’m updating is the only one open, packaged then opened the idml and re-saved the document to indd. It just doesn’t work, and it’s really frustrating to explain to our clients that their comments have gone because we had to make a new link (or they get confused, comment on an old link and we don’t make the updates). Any ideas?
I would like to be able to calculate row- and column totals automatically within InDesign if this is possible. One one page of a large/complex document I have one table formatted exactly the way I want it to look, with numerical values that update regularly. There are column headers along the top, row headers on the left, column totals on the bottom, row totals on the right, and the grand totals in the bottom-right cell. All the cells inside the table contain only numbers or no data. The row totals on the right also require footnote references (*1, etc) that are detailed in text below the table. For the last 25 years I’ve just been updating the numbers manually and using a calculator, but I have made mistakes on occasion. I’d rather not mess with Excel and importing/linking/etc; just a very simply way to add top-to bottom and left-to-right. Is it possible to do this? Please and thanks. Here is the table.
Presumably yet another bug but great news we now have more AI no one asked for.Examples: MaximiseAppetising Are now flagged as spelt wrong with American options offered. Language is set to UK, language on computer is set to UK, this literally happened today with your wonderful new update.
I have experienced this error (0xc0000142) when attempting to open InDesign and illustrator several times over the course of a few months now. There is a fix that I found through the Adobe forums that involves repairing the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable program files and it works temporarily, but after a few weeks the problem reappears. I have tried installing several versions of both programs to see if it is just affecting a specific version, but it does not appear to make a difference.Any help toward a permanent fix is appreciated, as I require authorization from my company’s tech support department in order to perform the fix every time this problem occurs and it is interfering with my job. Thank you below is the fix I have had to do if anyone is interested. again it works but only temporarily for me:
It has been working with no problems for years but now I am unable to open. If double clicking a file to launch, it will get as far as displaying the file but then freezes. If launching InDesign from the task bar, it will open the standard UI display but then will freeze. The pre-flight shows "checking" and I can hear the PC working on something in the background, but nothing within InDesign works and I have to end task using Task Manager.I have uninstalled/installed numerous times but still having the same issue. I have also gone through the delete preferences process.
InDesign 21.5 — Data Merge corrupts accented characters when running InlineMerge.jsxbinAfter updating to InDesign 21.5, Data Merge no longer handles accented characters correctly when I run my InlineMerge JSXBIN script. For example:Sección becomes Secci—nDescripción_ES becomes Descripci—n_ESThe problem affects both the Data Merge field names and the merged text.Steps to reproduce:Create a new InDesign document. Load a tab-delimited TXT file as a Data Merge source. The field names containing accented characters display correctly. Run the attached/linked inlineMerge.jsxbin script. Accented characters are replaced by incorrect characters, e.g. ó becomes —.Important: The exact same TXT file and the exact same script work correctly in the previous version of InDesign.I rolled back to the previous version and the problem immediately disappeared. This appears to be a regression in InDesign 21.5 affecting Data Merge and/or the scripting API used by the script.OS: macOSInDesign: 21.5Data source:
Hi everyone,I am working on a rather complex JSX script for a multi-section publication. I’ve hit a wall regarding InDesign’s native footnote engine behavior, and I’m hoping someone here might know a hidden trick or undocumented DOM property. The Context: My script processes a continuous text flow. When it detects a specific paragraph style (acting as a section divider), it physically splits the TextFrame at that exact paragraph. It breaks the threading, resulting in two completely independent, unlinked Stories sitting on the same page or spread. The Problem: Even though the text is now split into two separate, unthreaded Stories, InDesign's footnote engine continues the numbering across them. If Story A ends at footnote 12, Story B (the new section) starts at footnote 13.I need the footnote numbering to restart at 1 for Story B.What I know / What I've tried: I know that doc.footnoteOptions.restartNumbering only accepts Page, Spread, or Section parameters. It completely ignores Story bou
I've been exploring more of InDesign recently, and I'm curious which features other designers rely on the most.Which feature has improved your workflow the most? Are there any hidden shortcuts or tools that more people should know about? Do you use GREP, Data Merge, Object Styles, Scripts, Variables, or another productivity feature? What's one InDesign tip you wish you had learned much earlier?I'd love to hear your favorite time-saving tricks and recommendations!
have been using InDesign pretty sure over 20+ years. before that I used Quark Xpress & recently wanted to rotate an image around a circle & remembered Quark had something called Super Step & Repeat. I’m not as fluent in Illustrator so hoping there’s a way to do that same thing as easily in InDesign as it was in Quark so many years ago. Thanks for helping me figure out how to do this task.
InDesign 21.4.1 on Mac Studio M1 Ultra Tahoe 26.5.1. Pretty simple and annoying bug. I am unable to stack/group panels on my workspace. This only pertains to the bottom 1-2 for some reason. You are able to place more panels below I would confidently assume this is a reproducible bug. This has been present for the past few versions but I am just now reporting it. The workspace panel is one of the most important features for InDesign workflow and this is the second (albeit, not as annoying) bug I found that I didn’t even need to try to find… From the gif you can see it seems like the bottom 2 groups cannot be stacked. It doesn’t seem like it matters what panel you grab.
Pretty simple and unusual bug. I haven’t noticed a pattern yet, but I have set a custom workspace at least 5+ times in the past 2 weeks and CC Libraries and Style Packs keep getting added. I have never added those and manually removed them multiple times (and then saved that workspace.)I have deleted the workspace and made a new one, overridden it, seemingly tried everything. This is such a small thing that is driving me crazy. InDesign 21.3 on Mac Tahoe 26.2. Before telling me to update to 21.4, I will not because of the bugs breaking simple layout and selection things :)
Mac, OS Tahoe 26.3.1 (a)In the past I have had this problem with Illustrator and Photoshop. Now it sometimes appears with InDesign as well. If I try to drag the active window to another place on my screen, by dragging from the top of the window, it disappears behind all other apps currently open. Oddly, any free floating palettes stay on top. If I can still see a part of the window, I can click on it to bring it back to the front. If not, I have to go to the dock to bring it forward. Nothing is lost so this is an annoyance rather than a real problem, but why does it happen and why is it now happening with ID as well as the others?
Issue: InDesign Publish Online Errors #33 (Update) and #18 (New Publish)Hi everyone,I'm trying to publish both our company’s indoor and outdoor catalogs using InDesign's Publish Online feature. I've used Publish Online every year for several years without any issues, so this behavior is completely new. When I try to update an existing published document (my preferred workflow), I consistently receive Error #33. If I instead try to publish it as a new online document, I receive Error #18.This is happening with both of our catalogs, not just a single file.I've already tried the troubleshooting steps I found on Adobe's forums and support articles, but none have resolved the issue.Troubleshooting I've tried:Signed out of Adobe Creative Cloud, restarted my computer, and signed back in. Updated InDesign to the latest version and restarted. Tried publishing while connected to our VPN and while disconnected from the VPN. Verified that my system date and time are set to update automatically. Sav
Since this post seems to be marked as resolved after the Adobe Community update and it isn’t resolved, I’m creating a new post and linking to the old one. All the relevant information can be found here (at least all of the information that survived the Adobe Community update -- there are several missing posts). Long story short -- when you install Windows Security updates, some system fonts -- Times New Roman for me -- throw a missing font error in InDesign. This error only goes away if you uninstall the Windows Security update. More detailed info can be found in the linked post. This issue has been going on for literally months, since last November, and we’ve got bupkis to show for it -- less than bupkis now that some of the original posts have been nerfed with the Adobe Community update and the original thread appears dead. Adobe. Please. Help. This is beyond frustrating now...
