Just discovered an issue that I found someone else had last year on Reddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/indesign/comments/1k0i25a/old_style_figures_not_consistently_applied_in/I have page numbers automatically added to the foot of each page set in Garamond Premier Pro Caption using OpenType Old Style figures. All fine until I reach pages 100+. The last digit reverts to Lining, not Old Style. Illustrated is the automatic page number, with the same digits entered into a separate text box (reversed as selected when I screen-grabbed).This is not a charater style or Drop Cap paragraph style. Something related to the “Current Page Number” special character (⌘3). If I add another Current Page Number to the page, the same error occurs…Any ideas?  

I can see the entries when I click on the index, but when I generate the index I get nothing that I can use.

Hi, I am wrestling with the world’s most frustrating InDesign file. Whenever I drag an image near text, or rearrange text boxes on the page, the text disappears. Text over graphics (no styles applied).. it acts like I have all these words in the box that it does not have room for but when I extend the box the words are small and don’t have any spaces here is an example of what a current page looks like. I am trying to place the keymap next to the text in the subsequent image  here you can see that the word “source” disappears when I tried to drag the group of objects next to it In addition, whenever I start over and create a new file in attempts to clear any weird paragraph or object styles, the text box starts aligned to the bottom even though the text frame options are aligned to the top… what the heck is going on here?   

InDesign 21.5 — Data Merge corrupts accented characters when running InlineMerge.jsxbinAfter updating to InDesign 21.5, Data Merge no longer handles accented characters correctly when I run my InlineMerge JSXBIN script.For example:Sección becomes Secci—nDescripción_ES becomes Descripci—n_ESThe problem affects both the Data Merge field names and the merged text.Steps to reproduce:Create a new InDesign document. Load a tab-delimited TXT file as a Data Merge source. The field names containing accented characters display correctly. Run the attached/linked inlineMerge.jsxbin script. At some point of the work, InDesign randomly stucks at a “checking” state. It doesn’t effect the work, the app works fine, only the cursor is “loading” which is really annoying. ALSO when I finally lose my patiente, and try to close the app, it won’t close. I have to use task manager, to close it. 

When i open InDesign the app crashes. I’m unable to even open the app. I have re-installed the app, which didn’t solve the issue. I also tried installing other update versions, which also didn’t solve the issue. All my other Creative Cloud apps are up to date. What to do now?

Bonjour, j’ai l’impression d’avoir tout essayé, ceci est mon ultime recours pour comprendre ce qui se passe et peut-être à l’avenir éviter ce problème de façon plus optimisée.Mais pour l’instant, je suis censé rendre ce document demain pour l’imprimeur.Je travaille depuis environ 2 mois sur un document d’environ 800 pages, et aujourd’hui, sans rien changer à ma façon de travailler ou même les documents que je reçois, Indesign n’importe pas correctement le texte que j’importe, il supprime certains (pas tous) sauts de ligne qu’il y a initialement dans le texte.Ils ont beau être supprimés de manière aléatoire, il ne semble pas que ça soit réellement le cas car ce sont toujours les mêmes sauts de lignes qui sont supprimés peu importe à quel point je reproduis la manip.Ma façon de travailler est simple : Je reçois des nouveaux textes régulièrement (sous format Pages sur Mac), je fais un copier-coller depuis celui-ci (car impossible d’importer un format page avec cmd+d, il est grisé. For some reason my CC library palette is vibrating. The bottom of the palette with the clould icon and the lock icon are flickering, and the scrollbar 'thumb' is flickering too. The only reference I can find to this issue is at this link in UserVoice:CC Libraries palette vibrates nonstop  Anyone else have this issue? Is there anything that works to fix it? I'm on ID 20.5 on a 2023 Mac Studio running Sequoia 15.6.1. Thanks!Maurice

My Table of Contents generated in Indesign is not being read in the Read Out Loud function in Acrobat. The tagging structure within Acrobat all looks fine (<TOC>, <TOCI> etc.) and works when I disable the new Acrobat feature. This issue also applies to PDFs created previously, which again worked fine on the old version of Acrobat.I have also noticed other elements not being read also, as in alt text applied to inline figures and interactive forms.Any information at all would be helpful as I know my client will raise this issue.

I’m experiencing problems when importing images (TIFF, PNG) and then reducing their size. Despite using the reduced display quality, InDesign crashes several times in a row. There are also frequent slowdowns, and I’m working directly from the computer’s internal hard drive.

InDesign will not work on my Macbook but works ok on my imac. Illustrator and Photoshop work fine. InDesign won't load. I've deleted the preferences.

I'm experiencing what appears to be a bug in InDesign for Windows (InDesign 21.4.1).After updating to InDesign 21.x, I can no longer drag selected text to another position.Here's what I've confirmed: Object frames can be dragged normally. Only text drag-and-drop is affected. This happens in multiple documents, including newly created ones. Resetting Preferences did not fix the issue. The most interesting part is that, on Master Pages, drag-and-drop works on the right-hand page, but does not work on the left-hand page. Another Japanese user reported exactly the same issue on the Adobe Community forum several months ago, and the discussion remains unresolved. Is this a known bug? Can anyone reproduce this issue on Windows?The issue started after updating to InDesign 21.x. After downgrading to InDesign 19.x, text drag-and-drop works normally again.I also contacted Adobe Support by phone, but the issue could not be resolved. *Here's the Japanese thread describing the same issue.

cmd+z indesign not working. it will work when i first open the doc but switch off at some point. have to restart the software to resolve it. edit>undo also appeared greyed out and unclickablei'm running on macOS tahoe 26.6, and indesign 21.4.1. I have also disabled generative AI features in my indesign preferences. i have uninstalled and reinstalled the software and that didn't work, restarted my machine, reset my program preferences and nothing i’ve been trying seems to solve it. I have been dealing with this issue on and off for the past 8 months - it seems to happen randomly, but possibly more often on gigantic files.

Hi, I’ve updated my InDesign to version 21.5.1 yesterday and noticed, that in Data Merge, it stopped supporting danish letters in the .csv’s column names. It changes the letters to a random character, so the data merge function doesn’t work anymore because it can’t figure out the link between the .csv and the placeholders.My job relies heavily on data merge so I rolled the update back to 21.4.1 and it works perfectly. I hope the bug will soon be resolved.

Hola, tengo un problema a ver si alguien me puede ayudar. Estoy haciendo un libro de matemáticas, utilizo el editor de fórmulas de indd. Cuando empaqueto las fórmulas quedan como .svg, como es para impresión, debería poder obtener un .tif, o un .eps...  cuando exporto a pdf, aunque incruste perfil CMYK, la fórmula se exporta en RGB, por lo que el pdf sale con error. He intentado cambiar la extensión... no sé cómo solucionarlo y no encuentro en foros una solución. ¿alguien sabe cómo hacerlo? 

No matter how I install the fonts, InDesign won’t make them available. I’ve used third-party font managers, Font Book, installed fonts directly into the system library and added them to the Fonts subfolder in the InDesign folder.The fonts appear I all my other applications including Illustrator and Photoshop.Interestingly, unavailable fonts become available in previously created documents that use a particular font. I can select the text and change the wight of the font, but it still doesn’t show up in the font list pull-down menu. I can also copy and paste the text into a new document to use a specific font. However, If I want to use a newly added font, there is no way to access it in InDesign.I have tried all the standard trouble-shooting methods including uninstalling and reinstalling InDesign.I am on a Mac with all the latest software updates.

Le document final se compose de plusieurs chapitres, chacun possédant ses notes (notes de fin) dont la numérotation automatique est insérée dans le corps du chapitre après le mot concerné sous la forme d’un appel de note. Je souhaiterai en plus, en début de chaque note, insérer automatiquement le numéro de la page où se trouve cet appel de note.Est-ce possible et comment ?

Ich habe ein PDF geschrieben, welches auch im Ordner angezeigt wird. Allerdings bleibt InDesign einfach hängen bei 98% und ich kann das Dokument nicht schließen.Liegt das an den verknüpften Bildern / eingebetteten Bildern?Bei uns gab es einen Serverwechsel und ich habe vorab alle Bilder eingebettet. Versucht InDesign trotzdem den alten Pfad im Hintergrund zu finden? Selbst wenn ich ein Bild anklicke, dann reagiert das Programm einfach nicht und bleibt ca. 60sek hängen.Wer kennt solch ein Problem?Zudem kann ich nun alte Dokumente (vor dem Serverwechsel) nicht mehr öffnen, da InDesign immer hängenbleibt und wahrscheinlich versucht die alten Bildverknüpfungen zu finden. Kann man das Problem der Aufgabe im Hintergrund umgehen, damit das Programm nicht immer versucht die Bildverknüpfungen zu finden? Bei großen Dateien ist das echt ein riesen Problem, wenn das Programm versucht XX Bilder zu überprüfen.Danke :-) InDesign bleibt einfach hängen… schließt nicht. 

(05/08/2026, version 21.5, updated yesterday) Glad for the option to delete all AI generated alt-text... if only it would work properly. The remove all button doesn’t recognize the generated alt-text and pretends there is nothing to delete. This document has 208 pages and there is several pictures on each of them. Having AI generated descriptions on our images erodes the trust our clients have in our products, and I had to find roundabout techniques to delete them directly in the exported PDF because as a professional, I can not afford the time to delete them all by hand, one by one in InDesign. Thus, neither me or my colleagues have touched the descriptions : they are as they were generated (without our consent) when this feature was pushed without notice. So the feature should recognize them as AI generated text to be deleted, and just does not. I keep being dissatisfied with how this whole situation have been handled since it’s been reported month ago.  Dialog box says “No AI-genera
