I can copy maybe 2 times from one open document to another open document before InDesign shuts down. It does not crash when copying within the same document. I have tried resetting preferences, disabled all in clip-board handling, but it is still the same. It occurs in random documents, so not the same either document, picture or elements. <Title renamed by MOD>
A coworker and I are collaborating on the same document. When I open the doc after she's saved it, Gotham Book appears as bold to me but it looks like normal (regular) text on her computer. We've confirmed we are both using the same version of INDD (we've run all updates). I've made sure to install all the same fonts she's using. This only happens with Gotham Book. Any ideas why this is happening? Also, when I open the document, it tells me I’m missing fonts even though I have replaced them multiple times now and downloaded the fonts. Gotham TT is one that it repeatedly says is missing, which I cannot find an exact match for. Could the license have been pulled for it?
I have had this issue when placing a PDF in Indesign, I do all my checks and prepwork. I run my preflight to check to make sure the file is CMYK. When it is not I right click and edit original in Acrobat. I do my conversion there. The file relinking tends to lock up Indesign and my fans go nuts. Computer is an M1 Max with 32 gigs of RAM. Indesign 21.5.1.73 in macOS Tahoe (latest update). I have had this with a few larger page PDF’s, the current one is 104 - 5.5 x 8.5 pages. It has been trying to relink for over 20 mins now. I could force quite and just re-add the PDF’s again from scratch with the CMYK profile done and it will be no problem, only when it comes to relinking the file. I have reset preferences numerous times with no luck. Very frustrating. Have this with various files, anyone else having this issue? Any fixes? Not sure if this is combined but it seems to have locked up the CC Hub. I have never tried opening it when Indesign is locked up trying to update the linked file, so
Ever since updating to the new version of InDesign (about a week or two ago), I encounter inconsistent behavior with expanding individual panels on the right side when you click on the panel name. Sometimes, the won't expand. When this occurs, I also cannot open the panel as a stand alone window by selecting it from the Window menu. However I CAN use the << at the top of the Panel menu to expand all the panels. Once it occurs, if I close InDesign and reopen it, that usually fixes the problem. I have not been able to find a consistent thing that causes this to happen. I think it might occur more when opening files that have not been saved in the current version, but sometimes doing that does not cause the problem.
HiFor some reason my tool panel now only allows me to use the Text tool - the rest of the tools are inactive and unable to be selected. I have tried rebooting, uninstalling and reinstalling the app and that hasn't worked. I found a previous post with this same issue but i do not have touch enabled so whilst that solved their dilemma it unfortunately won't fix mine.Any suggestions??Thanks
I have placed a PDF into the file and cropped it. When I export my file to PDF, the way the PDF is displayed changes.
On a few of my projects my horizontal scroll bar has disappeared, wondering if this is a bug or just a personal problem.
Hello, I no longer have the option to download older versions of InDesign; is it still possible to access them via Creative Cloud?
I need to determine if a paragraph style group exists. Generally, this avoids the judgment of non existence://This is the previous practice of using else to determine 'non-existent' in reversevar d = app.activeDocument;var item = d.selection[0];if(d.paragraphStyleGroups.itemByName('AA').isValid){var myGroup=d.paragraphStyleGroups.itemByName('AA');alert('AA exist')}else{alert('AA dose not exist')}But sometimes I need to directly determine that it doesn't exist and find that both of the following are invalid://Now I want to directly determine that 'AA' does not exist.var d = app.activeDocument;var item = d.selection[0];if(d.paragraphStyleGroups.itemByName('AA').inValid){alert('group does not exist');}if(!d.paragraphStyleGroups.itemByName('AA').isValid){alert('group does not exist');}
Hi Community,I went back recently to open an old book cover InDesign Template and only found the last page of a three page spread. Went back and found that for several of my covers (which I spent dozens of hours on) only the last page had saved. Now, I can go to the PDFs that I converted these templates to and open them in InDesign, but, unfortunately, I created outlines for most of my text and when InDesign opens the PDF and converts it back to a document it preserves that feature and I can’t undo it. So I can’t edit the type. I don’t think I can get back my editable templates. I think those might be lost forever, but how do I know if I’m saving the entire three page spread or just one page of it? Do I need to make sure the cursor is on the background of the template and not on any one part of the spread? Do I need to make sure no one page is highlighted? Should I just always create a cover as a single page? Any help would be great.
Hello everyone, I am having a strange problem with exporting to PDF. I am working on a print book cover for Amazon Kindle and the book cover I have looks fine in my InDesign Program. But then when I export to PDF (using the X-1A option) this strange shadow shows up beneath my name and behind the image on the Kindle Print Previewer. I’ve checked the transparency and I believe everything is 100% opaque (except of course for the border which is a PNG file). I tried adding a box with the cover color behind the image to no luck. Now I checked with someone on Amazon’s end and they said my image wasn’t flattened. When I tried “print to PDF” the grey shadow box thing disappeared. But of course I can’t upload the Print to PDF option in Amazon because there is no size option for the size of my cover (all the options in print to PDF are for very specific paper options).Does anyone know how to get rid of this shadow or what is causing it?
Please see attached screenshot showing subheading working as it should and then, on the next instance, the indent changes. I cannot figure out why.
I’m building a script to fix word wrapping but I need a Thai dictionary which isn’t currently supported with Hunspell. Does anyone by chance have a User dictionary they’ve created/acquired for Thai? I’m looking to do the same for Chinese/Japanese/Korean/Arabic.
Since the 2026 versions of InDesign, I am experiencing major display/rendering issues when working with documents created for Web/Digital use. The problem occurs both when opening older existing documents and when creating completely new ones. There are two main issues:1. Incorrect scaling and positioning at different zoom levelsWhen changing the zoom level, the page/workspace and the designed elements are not displayed at the correct scale relative to each other. Frames themselves appear to be positioned correctly, but their content is visually shifted or incorrectly scaled. This makes precise layout work almost impossible because what I see on screen does not correspond to the actual document. The document itself seems to be correct: the exported result is correct, and switching to Overprint Preview also immediately displays everything correctly. However, working permanently in Overprint Preview should not be necessary and for RGB its obsolet.2. Incorrect RGB color display with transpa
Indesign 21.3 / OS Tahoe 26.3.1 / Synology servermounting Synology server using SMB protocolLately, I & my teammates have been having an issue where Indesign is dropping its links to the server. Can’t save the file either. Close out of ID file and the server partitions are still mounted and I can navigate them. However, cannot work off the server. ID will open the file again, but links are missing. Closing the file does not remove the ID lock file either. Have to manually eject the partitions and remount the drive. Our IT team (outsourced) tends to be PC people and think that Adobe apps can be overly sensitive to network conditions. We’re on a very fast server & switch. They think moving back to AFP protocol may help. Anyone have experience with this issue? Please don’t say work locally. In 2026 that’s possibly the worst thing anyone can say. :D
Hello, even though I completely uninstalled InDesign (including all old versions) and then reinstalled it, I’m still experiencing the same bug: when I open another InDesign document, suddenly the Command-Z shortcut stops working. I'm using the latest version of InDesign and macOS Sequoia — though this issue has been happening for years across different versions of InDesign and macOS. Can anyone help? It’s incredibly frustrating and such a waste of time.
Windows 10, ID ver. 20.4. I made an unpleasant discovery today. I’m working with a client who laid out a book in InDesign but didn’t feel like she could make the conversion to ePub. There are about 85 photographs in the book. I asked her to insert Alt Text for each of these in Bridge under IPTC Core/Alt Text (Accessibility). I checked each image under Object/Object Export Options in ID, and the Alt Text was there, under "From XMP:Alt Text (Accessibility)". So InDesign is picking up the tags. But when I exported the file to ePub and happened to check the html, I see that all the alt fields for these images are empty (alt=””). The images she worked on are the ones linked in InDesign, so it’s not that she was working on the wrong folder of images. She didn’t have an object style applied to the images and I thought that might be a factor. But when I created an object style, specified Alt Text Source as “From XMP: Alt Text (Accessibility)”, applied that to one of the photos, the object styl
I have 5 lists of hyperlinks that I'm trying use on an interactive pdf. The lists are in a text box with a white background. Once I export it as an interactive pdf the hyper links do not work. The buttons are and work fine, you just cant click on tye URL
None of my adobe services are working. I have tried everything I can, can someone help me?These are screenshots of what happens when I try to open any of my apps.

A few weeks ago, my copy of InDesign’s tool features quit working with no clear indicator as to why. Proportional resizing of frames and text boxes no longer work, with or without touching the shortcut keys and their options. Holding option to duplicate objects no longer works, holding shift to draw straight and diagonal lines or gradients no longer works, as well as a couple other option/shift tool features I can’t think of at the current moment. I have tried resetting my preferences and deleting all of the files I can find on my Mac under Library and such, which did let this work for about a week. However, it is back to doing the same thing again.I’m running the latest MacOS and Adobe Creative Cloud software versions. 2023 iMac M3.

It used to be that every time I updated InDesgn I would change the number in the applicationpreferences .plist from 256 to 257. That worked and I got all the character handling extras etc. Until this time. Changing the number resulted in no change and no Japanese handling. I really need it, so any advice would be urgently appreciated!(And no, I don't want the Japanese version, just the extra text handling options in the English-language version)
Issue: InDesign Publish Online Errors #33 (Update) and #18 (New Publish)Hi everyone,I'm trying to publish both our company’s indoor and outdoor catalogs using InDesign's Publish Online feature. I've used Publish Online every year for several years without any issues, so this behavior is completely new. When I try to update an existing published document (my preferred workflow), I consistently receive Error #33. If I instead try to publish it as a new online document, I receive Error #18.This is happening with both of our catalogs, not just a single file.I've already tried the troubleshooting steps I found on Adobe's forums and support articles, but none have resolved the issue.Troubleshooting I've tried:Signed out of Adobe Creative Cloud, restarted my computer, and signed back in. Updated InDesign to the latest version and restarted. Tried publishing while connected to our VPN and while disconnected from the VPN. Verified that my system date and time are set to update automatically. Sav
