InDesign

When I'm trying to export an interactive indesign file, it says that "One or more interactive elements are clipped in ways that PDF files cannot reproduce. Those elements will be adjusted in the exported PDF."After this message pop up InDesign software it's get automatically close.What am I supposed to do? How do I find those elements and how do I fix that so they will be reproduced?What does that even mean? I'm so confused.

Hi Experts,   We have some issue where our team having an intermittent issue when opening an InDesign's files, they're doing their workflow via server,the issues was everytime they tries to open a file, they will receive the following error "you may not have permission or the document may be open already", but it will work again on the 2nd attempt, when it closed and re-open, it won't open again, and so on... The problem is happened only on inDesign files and on the network, not other files, and this happens to all users (around 6 users), this actually also working perfectly fine before, what i have done so far, was clear preferences and caches folders multiple times, but obviously, it didn't help.   any solution for this highly appreciated! Hi,I would like to add colours to alternative numbers so that it is easy to read like this:12 (13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18) Brackets needs to be where it is placed.Does anyone one know how I can use GREP so that it is applied to the document? I find GREP so hard to understand! Many thanks for your help.

Using InDesign v17.2.1, text typed on a path becomes distorted when converted to outlines. As you'll see in the attached before/after images (overall comparison, detail of problem area), the converted text is mostly okay, but the last few words become almost illegibly small. The characters also become reoriented relative to the path ... some characters are vertical, others upside-down. I've tried changing fonts, creating new documents, and typing on paths of different shapes, but the problem persists. I was hoping that this problem would be addressed in the latest update, but it wasn't.  I'm running Windows 11 v10.0.22000, build 22000.

Hi, I have a book file with different chapters (all separate files). Is there a way to have footnotes numbering continue across the different chapters instead of always starting at 1?Thank you!

Hey I am urgently in need of help!I have to print my paper next week and the only thing that is left is correcting the quotation marks.My paper is written in german so "these" quotation marks are mandatory, but sometimes my files uses the french ones «these» and I can't change them.I already changed them in the dictionary in preferences but when I then try to change them in the document they just put the same ones. Sometimes in the document the german ones work, so I try to copy paste them but they change to the french ones again. This is really bugging me especially because the vary over the whole paper and I do not want to print like this.Someone please help.Thank you.

Hi everyone,I’m working with linked text frames in InDesign (v2025) and trying to keep content synchronized across multiple frames. The problem is:Whenever I update the source text, the linked text frame also resets its paragraph style to match the original – but I want each frame to keep its own style (different font, size, etc.). I already tried the “Linked Content Options” and enabled:•☑️ Appearance•☑️ Frame Content•☑️ Warn when local changes are overwritten Still, the paragraph style from the source frame replaces the one in the target, which I don’t want.Maybe somebody having a solution

As per the title, using keyboard shortcuts is second nature and Command+W to close a window has been crashing indesign ever since updating to 20.1 and 20.2. I deleted my preferences which didn't help.This morning I uninstalled 20.2 and reinstalled 20.0.1 and the problem has gone away.

   Hi all, how to set up the year (scroll down) in interactive pdf form preperly?after i did put in the year options under list box,  the text is not white color as i expected in the final PDF, and the text box is hard to be centered. How to fix the color and the positon? and also the date, it is alwasy left aligned, how to make it centered? Thank you so much

I am trying to format an art and literary magazine, but many of the images are not showing up in InDesign no matter how I place them. I have tried using frames, dragging them from my desktop or a specific folder, using "Place", relinking the images, turning them into .psd files, changing them from jpegs to pngs, and nothing is solving the issue. At first, I was able to resolve the issue by making the image file sizes smaller, but since I updated InDesign that fix has not been working. I am not sure if the files are somehow corrupt, but I do not know how to tell or fix this. I have attached an example of how the images are showing up. When the images show up this way, they also say that they are linked to the Pasteboard rather than the page that they are on. Any help with this would be great, because the magazine needs to be finished sooner rather than later for printing. 

I have an in design script and part of it is to export selected images to PDF. I need indesign for an assignment in uni and for some reason creative cloud says my device isn't compatible. I checked the terms and my macbook is up to date and I have storage and everything. How can I fix this problem quickly?

Hi everyone,This has been asked as a question before, but I've not found an answer so I'm asking it a little more specifically to what I'm looking for. I have a text variable for the file name and I'm wanting to learn to make it automatically scroll into multiple lines. Currently if your text box is not wide enough, all of the characters condense into each other making it illegible.I've found a forum regarding creating nested styles that didn't seem to work. Any specific help and instructions would be appreciated.Thanks!

Hello, Community,I have a weekly newsletter sent via Outlook. Currently, I create the newsletter in Adobe Illustrator, export it as PNG, and insert it into the email body within a table. I do this to avoid formatting issues and to ensure each image has a different link without mixing them up.However, I am facing two main problems:Disconfiguration in the New Outlook: The format is received perfectly in the Classic Outlook, but in the New Outlook, the newsletter gets disconfigured.Cell Alignment: I spend a lot of time aligning the cells to ensure they are correct, with size and proportion between them, as the articles vary in size according to the topics.A friend mentioned that in her previous job, they produced the newsletter in InDesign and managed to insert it into Outlook without needing to use tables. I would like to know more about this approach or other solutions that can solve my problems.I have access to all Adobe tools and am looking for a more efficient way to create and send

Bonjour,Depuis quelques temps j'ai une lenteur d'affichage des blocs que je selectionne dans indesign, de l'affichage en général par exemple lorsque je clic sur un bloc, les petits carrés pour redimensionner ne s'affiche qu'après qq secondes, ou lorsque je zoom avec la molette le zoom affiche bien les % en bas mais rien ne bouge avant qq secondes aussi.je précise que je suis tout le temps en écrans déportés (2 écrans) et que j'ai décoché les performances GPU dans les préférences Indesignje suis sur la dernière version de inddmon Mac est un pro, M1 pro, avec 32 go de mémoire et je tourne sous macOS 15.3.2 Merci d'avance pour votre aide

I've been working on a web document on indesign, but when I opened it today, several of my files were gone including the document. I tried looking through the recovery file but it won't open on indesign and I'm really not sure what else I can do. It has been regularly autosaved and indesign hasn't notified me of any missing or corrupted files. Does anyone have any advice?

BonjourQuand je veux exporter mon fichier Indesign (28 pages) vers PDF, le travail commence puis se bloque et InDsign se ferme tout seul ("InDesign a rencontré un problème et doit se fermer"). Et le PDF a zéro octets.Comment faire pour exporter ?(parfois, rarement, ça fonctionne puis ensuite, les fois suivantes, ça ne fonctionne plus.)Merci de vos conseil !J'ai essayé de passer par INDML mais ça ne change rien.J'ai essayé de réduire la qualité : ça ne change rienPar contre quand je n'exporte que quelques pages, ça fonctionne toujours.

Mac 15.3.2 - InDesign 20.2I have a troubling issue that I have not been able to resolve. I'll be working on an ID file, and will save the document... and then I get the spinning beach ball, which never resolves - I get a "not responding" error message, and have to force quit the application. When I attempt to relaunch InDesign, one of two things will happen: 1) it will stall at launch, with the "not responding" message (requiring another forced quit) or, InDesign will launch, but then when I attempt to open the file I was working on, I'll get another beach ball and "not responding."  It seems the only thing that will get me out of this frustrating loop is to reboot the whole system. I have done everything from resetting preferences to un-installing ID and doing a fresh install. Nothing seems to help. This has been happening for awhile, I don't know if it was provoked by a recent OS update, or what. Is anyone else having this issue, and is there a resolution?

Can anyone help with this error message? All links within the file are successfully linked and nothing is missing 

HelloIs it possible to have a hyperlink take a user to a very specific zoomed in area of a page? For example, if I have a number of small diagrams on one page, can a hyperlinks take me to a view that is zoomed in to one of those diagrams? I've tried "Inherit Zoom" but it doesn't appear to work or I'm just doing it incorrectly. Any help will be much appreciated.

Anyone else experiencing all their fonts missing with the recent update on Creative Cloud? I'm having to remove them and install them again, every single one of them. Which is of course not that hard but the background task won't stop.  

Hi everyone,I got a problem using Adobe Indesign today. After exporting a PDF from Indesign, I found the PDF is resxtrced, and other users could not edit or comment on it. How to resolve it? I did not add any passcode to the PDF, nor did I passcode protect the Indesign file. 

Hi there, I have been working on a document, but now it is showing up like this when I open it with no white background. I have looked into my settings everything looks OK, not sure what to do so any help would be greatly appreciated. 

Hallo zusammen, gerade habe ich ein PDF unter den gleichen Bedingungen wie im Herbst letzten Jahres exportiert (X3 und ISO Coated V2 300 %). Damals setzten sich der Farbewerte im PDF so zusammen C 94 % M 59 % Y 7 % K 28 %, heute werden der Farbwerte im PDF so dargestellt C 100 % M 70 % Y 20% K 10 %.Kann mir jemand erklären, wie dieser Unterschied zustande kommt und wie ich das PDF zukünftig zuverlässig so erstellen kann, dass die Farbwerte immer gleich sind?Vielen Dank und viele GrüßeFranziska
