Hello all, Attempting to export a flyer from InDesign to an accessible PDF.Text effects like stroke, fill, and drop shadow export as separate tagged instances of the same text.Is there any way correct this in the export settings, or do I just have to export to an interactive PDF from InDesugb and then artifact those duplicate instances of the text in Acrobat Pro?

Hello I haven't used indesign before I am making a photo book using letter page in half. I know that it has to have multiples of 4, but for some reason it either makes the cover page and back cover page disappear or it just orders everything incorrectl I even tried it on a test book. 

I am working with a set of InDesign documents that my team and I have maintained and updated for years. These documents contain various table of contents, and up until early March 2025, I was able to export these docs to PDF and the TOC and TOCI tags were exported properly. Starting in early March, these tags are no longer being exported. These InDesign docs have remained unchaged since mid-February 2025 (at which point everything was exported as normal), and the only thing that has changed is an updated version of InDesign. My InDesign auto-updated yesterday (4/3) to v20.2, and prior to that I had v20.1, but I am not sure when that was updated from 20.0 or 20.0.1. Is it possible that TOC/TOCI export was broken in version 20.1 of InDesign?Is it posible to revert back to a specific version of InDesign?

Hi everyone, I'm asking for help with a problem involving a text box with a stroke and inside I have text with paragraph lines in Indesign.The problem is that the paragraph line is below the edge of the text box, and not above as I would like.If I apply a fill to the text box, the paragraph line covers it, but the same thing doesn't happen for the text box line.Basically I would like the paragraph line to cover the text box line, and avoid using two objects, like a text box and a rectangle.Can anyone help me?

I recently tried to download Indesign on my laptop but it fails to launch. Following other forum advice, I restarted my laptop and relaunched CC, updated my OS (to the most recent Sequoia 15.4)--but nothing works. Now Creative Cloud won't even get past the intialisation stage when opening. I've tried relaunching, restarting etc. I tried to uninstall and reinstall Creative Cloud but it won't let me, as I still have apps such as Photoshop installed--which I can't uninstall as Cloud won't launch. Basically I can't access my Adobe account or apps through Creative Cloud at all. It's hard to see why you should pay for a service that gatekeeps apps from its users.  Feels like I've been wasting my time for days on this very basic access issue when I just want to use the service I am paying for. I have an Apple M3 Pro running Sequoia. Any help appreciated!

Hi everyone, I'm dealing with a recurring bug in InDesign's online correction module,once the corrections are encoded, they appear in the proofreading window and in the online proofreading link, but they are not visible in my INDD working documentA while ago, the corrections to be made were automatically visible with a yellow line when I was on "W" modeI've reinstalled indd, deleting all my settings, but nothing changes.here is two screen, the indd version and the Online mode where the corrections are highlighted...Thanks for your Help

I am using a macbook air M3 up to date, and last version of Indesign.Before the recent updates, the text to image tool worked fine. But recently, i cannot use it at all, for as soon as I open this tool, it makes indesign crash.I tried to install the previous version, but did not make any difference.Would it be a conflict between IOS and indesign ?Other than that, Indesign works fine, as long as I do not open the text to image tool.Thank you in advance for your help.

Hi There, Can I ask anyone's help in writting a script for me? I know nothing about code and need to do something that seems accessible only through script in Indesign. I would be more than happy to pay for your time and expertise and helping me setting it up.  I am building an interactive presentation in Indesign to be viewed once published online. I am making a template now so I can fill it in with all of my pictures and text with Data Merge each time I need to update this presentation.And I would need help in writting a script that would : Once merged, add an hyperlink to each page opening up this specific page only in a differents tab ( as a cheap way to select an image showed on this page ). I can add a shape to the template to be made into a button once merged. If anyone is interested in helping me out it would be great !! Thank you so much ! Maria 

Habe mir mehrere KI-Bilder generieren lassen aber doch keines final verwendet. Verwende jetzt ein Stockbild. ABER das generierte KI-Bild wird weiterhin im Verknüpfungsfenster aufgeführt.Wie kann ich dieses entfernen?Habe versucht das Originalbild zu löschen - habe jetzt aber nur ein rotes Fragezeichen, dass das Bild fehlt. Ich habe einen neuen Rechner mit Windows11. Ich drucke auf einer Canon IP C800 über die Command Workstation. Bei den jetzt neu installierten Versionen von InDesign und Illustrator erscheint aber wenn ich auf Einstellungen gehe nicht das Einstellungen-Fenster der Command Workstation sondern ein Druckermenü von Windows. Das tritt aber nur bei Adobe Programmen auf. Dieses Menü erscheint jetzt. Wenn ich links unten auf "weitere Einstellungen" gehe kommt das richtige Menü (2. Bild). Das Problem ist aber dass die Einstellungen die ich dann dort mache nicht bleiben. Wenn ich dann auf Drucken gehe habe ich zu 80% Fehldrucke.Weis jemand wie man dieses "Windows-Menü" ausschalten kann? Wie gesagt bei anderen Programmen wie Word etc. tritt das nicht auf. dort komme ich sofort in das richtige Menü (2. Bild).

I have a lengthy document, with many articles called "Boxes" that can run for several pages.The first page will say, for example, "Box 1.1. This is the title text."I want every threaded text boxes on pages 2+ to have "Box 1.1. (continued)" automatically appear at the top, followed by the uninterrupted flow of the narrative text. The continued title should not show up on the ToC.Is this possible? (Feels like it should be.) I have tried searching online for a tut, but suspect I am not using the proper terminology.

Hi!I was hoping one of the scripting geniuses around here could lend a hand. I stumbled on the Script below in another forum and it almost does exactly what I need. Essentially if I have an Indesign document with Layers A, B, and C, the script will look through the linked .psd and if there is a Layer with the matching name in the .psd it will turn on that layer. This is perfect but I'm usually using .ai files more often than .psd so I was curious if anyone knew how to modify it to do the same thing in Illustrator. I accidently x out of indesign without saving the file I was working with. Is there a way to retrieve it?

I would like to be able to use both straight and "curly" quotes within the same sentence or paragraph without having to go into the app preferences change it, type the text, go in and change it again, etc. Typical example of a sentence I would need to do this for: The IRT's platforms are 510' long, and each car is 51'5". Can I create a character style that forces straight quotes when the default setting is typographer's quotes? I would say I need straight quotes maybe 5% of the time (if that), but when I need them, creating them is a royal pain. Even copying-pasting doesn't work as the pasted versions are curly.Thanks in advance.

We are printing a black-and-white book on IngramSpark. The book is all text except for an author photo on the about the author page. The photo was taken with an iPhone, so is high resolution and RGB to begin with. To prepare the photo, I used Photoshop. I cropped and converted the photo from RGB to grayscale. My understanding is that Photoshop deletes any color management profiles when it changes a photo to grayscale.At the 2 inch wide size of the photo, the resolution was 1171 PPI. IngramSpark requires 300 ppi. I I left that high resolution and let InDesign lower it to 300 ppi using the PDF/X – 2002 adobe preset export filter.->Should I have used  Photoshop's automatic resample feature to bring the PPI down to 300 before placing the photo in InDesign?I imported the photo to InDesign at same size (2 inches wide). Hello. I would like to know if there is a way to delete all of the buttons in a document. I'm creating a print version of a digital file so all of the checkmarks and text fields need to be removed. Currently, I can only select one at a time and I have over 80 in the document. I even tried selecting them all on layers on each page, but when I do that, the delete button is greyed out. Is there a way to delete multiple buttons at once?

Hello, I have 2 indd documents (A,B) A is big (180 pages)B is small (90 pages) The both have their character and paragraph styles. When moving the pages of B in A the character styles of B are messed up. So, once the pages were moved, I import the character styles directly from the B.indd document and I use the option "auto-rename" for the overriding styles.  Unfortunately I does add "copy" to the styles without applying them to the text. Indeed when using "use incoming definition" it mess up the styles of A. It's very annoying because I have multiple sentence and words with "bold" style and I need to revise everything again and again.  (everytime I add some pages to the main file) Any suggestion? Thanks Matt

Hi my printer sent me instructions on how to provide my InDesign book files for print. I've done 90% of what they asked for but just got stuck on a few things below. As always, I have tried to self-resolve via research. I am trying to export an epub 3 reflowable but I keep getting the message: Error Formatting image '1.png'. The system may be low on memory or disk space. How do I fix this? 

Working on a catalog with 200 individual paragraph entries that need to be styled the same.There are 3 different styles within each paragraph which consists of 4 lines each.I have followed the directions in several YouTube tutorials but I'm obviously missing a step somewhere because I can't get them to work. I think the problem may lie in the drop downs for "up to" and "through" as well as the final drop down of choices to finish the line. I have tried to set up both Nested Line Style and Nested Style and neither work for me. I have done this catalog in the past by highlighting each line and selecting the style for it but that is incredibly tedious and time consuming.Anyone have any pointers?

Hi,I was wondering if someone could let me know whether the three images in this PDF have sufficient resolution. In InDesign, they're showing as 1321 PPI (effective), which should be more than enough—but in the PDF, they seem a bit blurry when I zoom in slightly. I guess it should be fine since a reader cant zoom, but I wanted to confirm in case I might need to make adjustments.  Thank you very much 

Ive just spend my whole day getting rid of two bugs i ran into when exporting EPUBS.For some strange reason i got an error message when exporting, telling me that i may have low memory or disc space "Error Formating image "xxxx.png"...." and an error about a text anchor. The text anchor problem was easy:I copied some text (including a URL linked word within that text) from an older version of the document into the new one. That text somehow referenced the URL link from the origin (the older version of the project) when exporting as EPUB and couldnt make sense of it, so it gave an error. So to fix it, i had to go to the Interactive/Hyperlinks and delete the link and create the same link again. Looks the same, is the same.. but works now The Formating image error was harder:I did a lot between the new and the older version that didnt give me an error so i tried to find out were the faulty page was. First i tried deleting pages and exporting epubs to see if the error stays.. i e
