Hi everyone, When I export from Indesign in pdf (PDF/X-1A:2001), I can see the mouse cursor blinking in the exported pdf. It is a scanned page (png) on top of what I applied text and objects, all are in the same layer. No matter where I put my mouse on those before the exportation, it always blink in the same spot (right at the beginning of a text cell). opened in adobe pro or reader, it is the same. can't get rid of it. Any suggestion to solve my issue? it's rather urgent..... Is Edit > Transparency Flattener Preset… broken in InDesign 2021? I can’t get any setting besides [Low Resolution] to stick, nor custom settings. Exporting compatibility Acrobat 4/PDF 1.3 (requested from vendor printers) produces low-resolution flattened images that I have to up-sample in Photoshop. Have tried everything. Used to work. Others have posted outside ASC that custom settings will save won’t stick either when applied.

Feature request:It would be really useful to be able to remove a hyperlink from text by simply right clicking the text and selecting Hyperlink/Remove hyperlink. For example, I can do it in this editor right here, by hovering over text containing a link and clicking "unlink". Easy as anything.To do this in indesign, I need to KNOW to go to the interactive elements menu, find the specific instance of the hyperlink in this menu (which could contain hundereds of links), remove the specific instance of this hyperlink from that menu, just hoping I've selected the correct one and not deleted a key link from miles away in the document... It's a bizzaire system. If I can add a hyperlink using a right click, and edit a hyperlink using a right click, surely I should be able to remove one too?  NB: I know how to remove hyperlinks, this is a UI request for a more conventional way of doing so. Just wondering if anyone has a quick solution to this. I have 550 unique pages in InDesign and all 550 pages share the same common back, 1100 pages all up. I’ve created a master/ Parent page for the Common Back so it can be placed into the document without any further work to be done to it. My printer has requested that he wants the front and the back in a sequence ie Front unique page on page 1 and then on page 2 the Common Back, then Unique page on page 3 and then the Common Back on page 4 and so on....My question is is there a quick way of applying the common Back page without having to do all 550 pages individually? See exapmle belowIf anyone can help soon it would be much appriciated.thanksAngelos

In Windows InDesign v19 I map styles to tags, apply the artifact tag to selected Paragraph Styles, export to PDF, use Read Out Loud in Acrobat, and as intended Acrobat does not read the artifact tagged text. I next apply the artifact tag to a selected Character Style, export to PDF, and Acrobat DOES read the artifact tagged text. If I right click to edit a Paragraph Style, choose Export Tagging, there are EPUB and HTML options and PDF options. If I right click to edit the Character Style, choose Export Tagging, there are EPUB and HTML options but no PDF options.  How can I map a Character Style to the Artifact tag, export to PDF, and have Acrobat recognize the Artifact tag and not read the artifact tagged text out loud. I recently upgraded my operating system to Sequoia.At first everything went smoothly. I noticed no problems and was using Adobe applications normally (InDesign, Photoshop, Acrobat... all updated).At some point they stopped working. I cannot open any Adobe applications. The spinning wheel goes on and on and nothing happens until I force quit.I remember trying to open a file with an older version of InDesign, one that is not supported by Sequoia (I did not know that at the time). I have no idea if this has anything to do with the problem. I will let you know just in case.Any tips on how to fix this?

Hello!  On Windows 11, and the latest version of InDesign.As stated in the title, it freezes/crashes when importing images or going into read mode. Things I've tried:- Resetting preferences- Reinstalling InDesign- Exporting the problem file to a different format(Plus a number of other things that I can't remember the specifics of anymore, sorry) Is there anything else I can try to fix this?

Hi all! I'm working on a huge catalog file that I did not create. The master pages are full of greeking. It takes me forever to spell check because of these pages. Is there a preference I can set to skip spell checking the master pages? Thanks.

Bonjour, indesign version 18.1 lors de l'assemblage d'un document, pas d'erreur remontées, choix du répertoire d'enregistrement OK mais ensuite erreur : "Ce document contient des liens vers des fichiers ou URL qui ne sont pas accèssibles. Veuillez vérifier la connectivité de votre réseau ou la source aoriginal du contenu"si on clique sur ok : "In design n'a pas pu assembler le document "xxxxxx.indd" Impossible de copier le ou les fichiers liès nécessaires"  le projet a été crée en 2021. il a été stocké sur un lecteur réseau, la personne qui a le soucis a copié le répertoire sur son mac en local , a refait les liens , le document s'affiche parfaitement.  Avez-vous des piste à nous donner pour trouver pourquoi ces erreurs aparaissent ? merci d'avance.

Sudden realization:Align to page, align across pages are only aligned to the position that does not contain the bleed (you call it margin?).  I'm speechless. What kind of special hobby is this?Alignment to this position shouldn't be the primary need. What's the point of aligning to this? Who makes books without bleed? What was Adobe thinking? How do you align to the bleed (far left or far right)?Could it be that you have to enter -3mm coordinates to do this? 

Hi all, quick question: I need to create a landscape fixed layout epub/ebook but I'm struggling to finalize a "standard size" for width and height that can work generally well across most tablets and devices. For added context, I'm trying to take an indesign file for a paperback physical book design (a very visual photo/art book with 160+ full page spreads) and recreate it as a landscape fixed layout epub (landscape because the full page spreads won't display as aesthetically in portrait). When I asked chatgpt about universal compatibility (for landscape-specific epub orientation) across Amazon KDP, Apple Books, Nook, and others, , it said this:////Landscape format:2560 x 1600 pixels — if you want a wider, more graphic-driven layout (less common for poetry but useful if you have double-page spreads)Key considerations:Apple Books: They recommend 2048 x 2732 pixels for iPads, but will downscale for smaller devices.Amazon KDP: Suggests a minimum of 1200 x 1800 pixels but support

Hi All I am having a peristent issue with Indesign and sometimes Illustrator in that graphics don't display correctly or (particularly with InDesign) if I change the colour profile of a document (CMYK to RGB) it will not display the correct colours.I get big red blocks of colour in place of images, phantom deleted assets apeparing in preview mode and then disapering in normal view and other gerneral glitchy things going on. I have attached the preferences for my InDesign and my mac spec in the files section of this chat. I would really appreciate your help/opinion as my Mac Studio is only a year old and should (I think) be able to handle this with ease!!

It would have been a nice  feature: replacing a color.But I had to do this by handy. ID – latest version on Windows – crashes each time. Aber hitting "change all" the blank window titled "Adobe InDesign" appears. Then nothing happens for some seconds – and the ugly error message appears.

Hello!I did my book design recently and now I'm working on a reflowable epub (e-reader kindle) version of it, however I'm having troubles with space between my paragraphs. I have a few music quotes between my texts, but when I export they keep having this weird giant spacing between the quote lines and when I try to set the space before them smaller, they get really close to the text before them... 1st image is how is turning out in InDesign (and how I wanted to look like) and the 2nd image is how is turning out after exporting with EPUB 3. Does anyone know how can I change this?

I'm saving a pdf with hyperlinks and buttons on images from a contents page in order to take you to the feature.When I save the pdf as interactive it says the buttons will not work. Please help!

Hello,I'm having problems with Arabic fonts in the current InDesign version. I have many Arabic documents created in Indesign CS4 ME (Middle East edition), and all of them work correctly.However, when I open these documents in Indesign 2024 with Arabic language capabilities, all the Arabic characters are displayed as squares although I'm using the same font. I cannot find any setting that would help with resolving this problem. I will really appreciate your support.

The most annoying thing in the world for me is that indesign does not have GPU enabled animated zoom. I see all my fellow students with Macs using their track pads to navigate their indesign docs effortlessly without a mouse at all and I barely can get zoom into the percent I want with a mouse. This is crazy and needs to be fixed, i cant be the only one who finds this infuriating. Even illustrator has had this for forever.... Equality for windows and mac!!

Liebe Community Ich benötige ein Inhaltsverzeichnis, bei dem die Zahlen vor den Einträgen erscheinen. Die Zahlen sollen dabei rechtsbündig und der Text linksbündig dargestellt werden. Gibt es eine elegante Möglichkeit, dies umzusetzen? Eine mögliche Lösung wäre, einen Tabulator vor der Seitenzahl einzufügen. Allerdings kann ich im Inhaltsverzeichnis-Fenster nur Elemente zwischen dem Eintrag und der Seitenzahl einfügen, nicht jedoch davor. Hat jemand eine Idee, wie sich das anders realisieren lässt?  Vielen lieben Dank im Voraus!

Bonjour la communauté !J'ai un bloc de texte, avec deux colonne, ou se trouve à l'intérieur un tableau.Je souhaite que mon nombre de ligne soit réparti entre les deux colonnes, j'ai donc appliqué "équilibre des colonnes" dans les options du bloc de texte.-> voila ce que cela me donne (1re image) :  dans un bloc + grand que le nombre de lignes, j'ai un décalage de deux lignes, alors qu'elles devraient être alignés normalement.? Je vois (cf 2eme image) un petit décalage en haut de mon bloc, cela vient-il de la ? D'ou vient ce petit décalage ? 

Quick Version: Hi, I'm looking for a way to list which fonts are used by which paragraph/character styles. (Sure, I can just edit each of the paragraph definitions one-by-one and look. True.) The long-winded version: I'm working with an extensive template (i.e. lots of styles) that I've cobbled together over several years. I'm using this template in several documents, each of which has several chapters. Not all of the paragraph definitions are hierarchical (that is, some are "based on" another style and some are not, so I can't make the change in one place and have it ripple through; where that works, it does work, though). There are some styles that are not used at all in the current book(s), but they are there in the template, nonetheless, for when I may need them. I need to check them, too. One of the fonts I have been using has been obsoleted by Adobe and replaced by another with the same name. Where the style uses the old version, it's tagged with the [OTF] designator (O
