Hello AllI'm an experience Indesign user, but I rarely use the "Book" function. I'm working on a very large document (about 400 pages) and have added many separate Indd fiels to my indb file. I created a table of contents, and have been using text anchors to link to pages, but when I export the book to pdf, the links go to the wrong pages.When I go back into the Indd doc, the links have changed and are wrong in the hyperlink panel. I've done this over and over again--so I know it's not just a mistake.Any help would be appreciated. 

I have InDesign versions 2025 and also Beta installed on my laptop (Macbook Pro, Sonoma 14.5). I would like all InDesign files to open in version 2025. I have taken the steps of Get Info > Open With > choose version 2025 > Change All > then "Continue" with the verification window. After doing so, it will default back to Beta. Is there a way to fix this?

With the latest version of InDesign, I’m encountering an issue. When I choose the export option for HTML5, it directly opens the "Export HTML5 Package" overlay, bypassing the "Publish Your Document Online" pop-up. Does anyone know what might be causing this? (See image below.) This happened with both V20.0 and V20.1.  

Is there any way of preventing InDesign from opening full screen in Windows 11?

Hey!The new endnote feature in Indesign CC 2018 is a feature I've been waiting for for years, but I can't figure out how to use link to the same endnote in multiple places.I'm working on a medical brochure. Specific published studies has to be referenced to in multiple places.But, when I try to add a endnote it automatically makes a new one, how do I reference to one that is already entered?Example:This text references the first endnote(1)This text references the second endnote(2)This text is supposed to reference the first endnote once more(1)Please, Adobe or anyone in here – why is this not possible? Or is it?

Is there a script (that works) or does anyone know of any way to rename pages in indesign rather than 1,2,3,4 etcI manually export each page separately and have to rename them accordingly. Which takes too much time. I have to rename them the page size and language it is in. Two examples of exported page names-  1080x1080_DE.jpg   1080x1920_FR.jpgIf there is a way to rename all the pages on a template that I can use in the future as it would save hours. Ie, click export all and they would be saved with the correct file names. I have had a look online and have no joy.

Our programme consists of around 70 children's books that constantly need to be translated into several languages. I'm trying to fit a text frame to its text content using the keyboard shortcut. When I type the shortcut (OPT+COMMAND+C), nothing happens. When I do it via the menu (Object > Fitting > Fit Frame to Content), it works. There are no extra line breaks after the text which might prevent this, and my keyboard is functioning perfectly with no dead keys.Any help much appreciated.

I would appreciate help writing code to find the first character of footnote text on a page, even if the first character is a continuation of a note from a previous page.I tried using AI, I managed to achieve the desired result but it works very slowly...Thanks in advance

I'd like to add a cross-reference link to my selected text, but every option I try in the Cross-Reference Formats dialog *replaces* the text I highlight. I want my text *style* to change, not the text itself. Example: in this sentence, "All features from the basic module can also be used within any advanced module.", I want to link 'basic module' to a relevant section in the document. I do *not* want to insert the page number or section title; I just want the link added to the existing "basic module" text. Does anyone know what I'm missing? Thanks in advance. (If you're wondering why I don't want to add page numbers or section titles, there are 2 reasons: because I have 100s of cross-references and the document becomes unreadable with all that inserted info; because it'll just be a digitally-viewed PDF that no one will ever print or care about page numbers.)

I want to combine different pages as spread only on export. For expample: page 03 with page 07, side by side. As my printscreen, I want do export as one spread page C3 with 7. Is it possible? How?     <Title renamed by MOD>  

Went to export, and all the page numbers are out of order. The first few tests all was good was perfect. I have no idea what I did. In setup, its seems all correct. 

"Select All Unused" option has disappeared from my menus when I'm in Character Styles and Paragraph Styles panels. It still appears in other panels like Colors. How do I get them back?I quit all Adobe apps including Creative Cloud, restarted, updated InDesign to 20.1 (was running 20 when they disappeared), thinking the update might fixt it, but they are still not appearing. Checked Edit/Menus (see screenshot) to make sure both were still checked to be visible, and both are. I toggled that on and off, etc. No dice. Any ideas? Thank you!  

Suddenly having an issue with this basic task. I'm setting up a book index (I've tried both independently setting it up as a new doc to have its pages moved, as well as setting up directly within the book) and getting stuck as my settings on the new master aren't producing a text frame on the document pages to work with. To trouble shoot, the steps taken were:1. New Master selected from Panel flyout2. Confirmed page size is same as all others3. Margins and Columns > input the same margins, but as the new Master needs 3 flowing columns, they are set up here, with gutter specs. I did not try using "Enable Layout Adjustment"4. On this master, with the text tool I draw a frame encompassing the 3 columns, and repeat on the facing page5. Ctrl. B for Text Frame options > input 3 columns with gutter specs, precisely overlaying the columns set up.6. Apply master to new pages for the indexAt this point, I should have a selectable text frame on the document set up for the index pages, yes?

Hello all,  While working in InDesign, I've been experiencing lagging issues with my cursor. For example, when I'm working doing normal things in the platform (InDesign 2025), when I move my mouse (or my track pad) around, the program freezes for two seconds before I can do anything. This happens on a timed sequence. Like every 30 seconds it does this: I work and then it freezes to where I can't do anything until it unfreezes again. SIGH* -_- I've had this issue for years with InDesign. I'm now finally deciding to post about it because my job is becoming more demanding and any second wasted on this freeze is causing delays in my timeline — I'm used to working super fast in the other platforms and they don't give me this same issue with freezing every 30 seconds. Does this community even reach the Adobe systems manager? Anyone from IT who can provide a solution? Has anyone ever contacted them directly — if so, how? Thanks so much!  FYI* I'm on my company la

Hello!Whenever I want to create a text box in a newly created document with the T-tool, the box with black outline is created before typing the text.I tried to check all tools without an open document whether black outline is set, ID closed and reopened. Unfortunately, the text box is created again and again with black outline. What can I do about it?Thanks!  

Hello all! Maybe someone has a clue. For quite some time I stumble across this problem again and again and couldn't find a solution. I remember that in some older version of Indesign for Windows (CS6?), when you opened the relink dialog on a file (image) you already placed and which you wanted to relink, it would go into the original folder (dependent on a setting) and list all files, but it would also jump to the current file (if  still existent) in that list of files and mark that file. Automatically.  Since I-don't-know-when this doesn't work anymore and I'm wondering if this sort of "auto-select" is or was a feature of Indesign or is something the Windows file explorer does in file open dialog boxes. I went through the explorer settings and found nothing. Also nothing in the ID  prefs.  If you know what I mean, can you say if this auto-select came from Indesign and if not, how and where to activate on Windows? Maybe this was something that died wi

The full problem is this: Path info in Links panel doesn't appear when hovering over individual links in the list of links. This feature has been working sporadically, and then for no apparent reason, will stop. I've opened and closed documents, quit and restarted InDesign and followed a solution posted in Feb 2017 (after a similar question was asked in 2016) to trash the “InDesign SavedData” file in the hidden Library. None of these actions have solved it. Occasionally the function will return and then disappear again while the document is still open. The problem exists for all documents. I'm using the 2017.1 release. Anyone have a fix? Thanks!

This sounds ridiculous I know, but all of a sudden when I use the Windows keyboard shortcut to fit frame to content (Ctrl + Alt + C) I get a confetti explosion from each corner of the screen, rather than the text box fitting to the content. I can still access the function from the menu and it works this way, but I miss the shortcut. Does anyone know what on earth is going on? Here's a very quick video showing the problem.
