InDesign

When I use the style panels for character or paragraph and it shows overrides and I option click on the override, instead of clearing the override I get a duplicate of the style.I have deleted preferences, deleted and re-installed InDesign, I have rebuilt my keyboard shortcuts. NO change. Shortly, if I have any patience left because I have many articles to set, I will re-install the operating system and see what happens next.

Hello:I created an index and everything works great with one exception.When InDesgin creates or updates my index, it creates it with a return at the end of the index.Hidden characters turns on so you can see what I mean.I've tried several things to get InDesign to create the index without the return, but nothing seems to work.I know I can create a GREP code s+/r, to delete the return in Find/Change, or even write a script to delete the return. But that adds an additional step for designers to perform. Probably just easier to manually delete the return. I's there a way/method to get InDesign to NOT add the return when the index is created.Maybe I'm doing something wrong when I create the index, but when I watch videos about InDesign indexing, all the videos also show/have the return at the end too. So maybe that is just the way InDesign creates its indexes.I would like to get your feedback and suggestions if there is a way to get InDesign to create the index without that pesky retu

When placing or moving images and text boces, the screen momentarily goes black and the content reappears only after the movement is complete.I thought it might be an issue with Mac OS, so I updated to the latest version "Sequoia" but the problem persists. How can I resolve this issue?

Yesterday after turning on the machine and open for the first time in the day the InDesign, I found this behavior in the paragraph styles panel, when I wanted to open it, it just deselects and does not allow me, I must then, open it with the menu on the paragraph style I want to modify.   Looking to fix this behavior, I deleted the program and reinstalled it removing all the user preferences but, when I installed it again the behavior was the same, when I looked at the version in the Creative Cloud, it says 20.01 so I deleted the program again and now installed a lower version (20.0) but the behavior continues....   When I checked the installed version, the information presented generates me insecurity of the installed version, because in the Creative Cloud window on the left side says version 20.01 (it would seem that this would be the installed version) on the right side says version 20.0 is installed (it gives the option to uninstall) and in the versions available to insta

Buenas noches.Desde hace unas horas y tras trabajar con normalidad en InDesign, cada vez que hago me pongo en un párrafo y hago click en un estilo de párrafo del panel de estilos, en vez de aplicar el estilo, intenta mover el estilo de posicional en el panel (adjunto pantallazo). Ocurre lo mismo al intentar aplicar una muestra de color. Esto me está generando muchísimos problemas. Ya he actualizado el InDesign y sigue ocurriendo lo mismo.Puede alguien ayudarme?Muchas gracias!

I have a working javascript I use that searches through all the indd files in a folder, finding tables with a specified word, and extracting the info from those tables. It works great but the recent batch of files have tables with merged cells, which threw the script off. I've updated the script to unmerge the tables before searching and gathering and it works again, BUT because it's modifying the tables, I now get a Save dialogue box when the script closes each file. Is there something I can add to my script that prevents that dialogue from popping up and just closes the files? Or is there something I can add that will automatically select Don't Save when the dialogue box pops up?

Hi! I made a report recently and it looks great everywhere, if I look at it in my phone, uploaded in dropbox, icloud, etc etc. But there's one server where it is uploaded where, whereas on my laptot looks great, when I see it on my phone the blending modes or effects with transparencies are not applying properly. I've been trying to solve it for a while, and while the first exports I made were done with interactive options, the last one was made with adobe pdf print options with the preset "smallest file size", colour converted to sRGB IEC profile, and transparency flattener was set to medium res and couldn't be changed. Pdf version was 1.5 (Acrobat 6.x). I am attaching some examples where you can see the gradients not working appropriately (they suddenly stop and should fade to full transparent) thank you so much🙏       

Hi, I've contacted Adobe support but they could only advise uninstall and install Indesign. I don't know what is stopping the styles from applying to a body of text. I have created a video which I've uploaded to Dropbox, and can be downloaded here. Any thoughts on this?

Hello, my Indesign is making warning sounds, when I open some windows on the program(See the video). Does anybody know how to fix this? When I open Adobe InDesign, a white screen saying "Loading Plans and Pricing" pops up about every 10 seconds.  How can I stop it?     [Subject edited to remove "Photoshop"]      

My flip horizontal is moving the entire frame that is housing the image. It flips the while box to the left. It used to just flip the image inside of the box, but doesn't anymore. Im working in InDesign CCThis is the document in question, i want to flip the image to show the garage roller door to the opposite side.this is what happens when i use the flip horizontal tool in both the tool bar and by right click options.

Recently, I'm finding "Mojikumi: line end all 1/2 em + Kinsoku: Hard Kinsoku" is being spontaneously added as the last settings in my Para Styles, and I do not have, nor have I ever had, any Asian language installed for InDesign. Whatt's going on here? Does anyone know?

I upgraded to InDesign 2025 about 20 days ago, but I encountered several issues. The program ran very slowly, crashed frequently, and making changes to numbers required multiple clicks, which was quite odd. The final straw was when it randomly dropped text while converting to a PDF on just one page in a 36 page document. Since I was on a tight deadline for a client and couldn't afford such risks, I had to downgrade back to InDesign 2024 to complete my work. Now, as I'm trying to work on new projects, I receive an "Import failed" message 75% of the time when attempting to import a vector file. Has anyone else experienced this issue after downgrading back to 2024? If so, is there a fix?  I've been using InDesign for 20 years and have never faced such disruptive problems before. The other possibility I considered is that my files in Dropbox might have become corrupted, but the issues began right after I downgraded InDesign, so I doubt that’s the cause.

I've created an object style that includes a 3 pt stroke with a maroon color around an image box. The menu at top says those attributes are applied but you can't see the them on the image itself. I've attached a screenshot. I'm using Indesign 19.5 in CC on a Mac mini desktop. I did try quitting and restarting. No luck.

Hi everyone!I always use custom page sizes in my InDesign projects. They are handy for having multiple page sizes in a single document.The use case for this is where I will be creating different layouts of the same design such as:Print: A0, A2Digital: Landscape ScreenSocial Media: Instagram Story, Instagram Square, Instagram PortraitSUMS: Website Banner, Page Banner, Page TileThe issue I have is that the list I have created is in a random order. I would like to be able to rearrange it. As it is slowing down my workflow trying to find the page size I want from a hudge list of custom page sizes. Hello. I have a script that helps me work with documents. Now I need to work with InDesign logs (I need to display the number of the page that contains an error). Is it possible? For example, if I have an InDesign document with 3 pages and an error on the second page, I need to print a log like this: "There is an error on page 2.

Using macbookair OS14.6 ID 20.0.1   I have a book laid out with 6 indd files that are linked with one indb file. The book is a long novel and was laid out with facing pages. I want to export a flowable epub document in a single page format — not a spread format. I went through each of the 6 indd and in File > Document Setup > deselected Facing Pages. This worked on 5 of the 6 indd files. They are now just single pages. But the lead indd file, no matter what I do, even when I deselect Facing Pages, remains in facing pages format.   Any idea what is going wrong and how to fix i?   <Title renamed by MOD>

Hallo allerseits, es geht um ein ›Darstellungsproblem‹ mit InDesign: Vor etwa anderthalb Monaten habe ich einen neuen Rechner (Win 11 Home; 64-Bit-Betriebssystem, x64-basierter Prozessor; AMD Ryzen 9 7900X 12-Core Processor 4.70 GHz; Grafikkarten: AMD Radeon (TM) Graphics, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060) installiert. Die Adobe CreativeCloud-Programme laufen einwandfrei, nur ›verrutschen‹ oder ›brechen‹ bei InDesign (20.0.1) immer wieder die Ränder oder Linien. Sie laufen nicht mehr durch, sondern sind unterbrochen. Anhand des angehängten Bildes/screenshots wird hoffentlich deutlich, was ich meine; rechts und links des Satzspiegels sind die Grundlinien gebrochen. Wenn ich die Anzeige aktualisiere, indem ich etwa in die Darstellung hinein- oder herauszoome, bauen sie sich wieder normal auf. Nach einigen Sekunden ›verrutschen‹ die Linien aber wieder, z.B. wenn eine neue Graphik eingefügt wird. need some help here... had same problem in the past and the only easy way was to change the font in Word before I bring it over to InDesign. The problem with doing this is that I am restricted. Some fonts in Word will change the italic and bold if I change overall..... ughhh.there must be an easy way... help thanks

Bonjour à tous, Je rencontre un bug très génant dans indesignA chaque fois que je fais une sélection d'un bloc d'image ou de texte ce dernier ce déplace tout seul d'un demi millimètre.Je souhaite seulement le selectionner et il se déplace a gauche ou vers le haut à chaque clic.j'ai ce problème sous InDesign 19.5.1 / 19.4 sur deux imac (un intel Sequoia et un M1 Sonoma) par contre je n'ai pas ce problème sous mon macbook Pro Sonoma inDesign 19.4Auriez vous une idée ?MerciJacques 

What am I doing / not doing to cause the page numbers to fall on the second line? I seem to recall something about adding tab settings...?
