Hello, I'm a beginner to InDesign and am going through an online couse.The problem is, the Color Theme Tool is not availabne on my toolbar (I have just purchased Adobe Creative Cloud subscription, so I assume it's the latest version of ID).I searched a lot but just can't find it. I enclose the picture of my screen. Help would be very appreciated!
is there a table style I can create where all columns and rows are the same size in a file
I am creating price tags for Christmas trees, I have a template that's front and back and a data set that creates 1756 tags. I've done this many times before but this time I've encountered what seems to be a bug. When I export the file to pdf all of the item numbers are the same. The tag has several dynamic fields, including size, tree type, price, and a photograph, all of these dynamic fields export perfectly, but the item number does not. The data file is correct and when I view the preview in indesign, the item numbers populate correctly. I've seen some discussion about a bug like this and I have tried every fix I could find with no viable solution. If I select 'create merged document' instead of 'export to pdf' all of the fields populate correctly, including the item numbers. But this takes significantly longer than a pdf export. So far I have tried creating a copy of the template and exporting without ever turning on the preview, I've tried exporting by range rather than all recor
When working on and InDesign document, the status bar used to display at the bottom of the window even when the window was independent of the Application Frame (i.e. Application Frame was unchecked in the Window menu). Recently this changed, and it seems that now the status bar is only available when working within the Application Frame, which I don’t like because for me it’s just in the way – it’s a solid window that hides everything on my desktop behind it and stays there in the background as long as InDesign is running, even when I’m not working in InDesign, have no InDesign documents open, and am using another application. I’m currently working on a MacBook Air, OS Sonoma 14.5, InDesign 19.4 (2024). How can I restore the status bar to InDesign documents without using the Application Frame? Here’s what I’ve tried so far, to no avail.Searching online Adobe support and user postsChanging the Workspace to every possible optionDitching preferencesUninstalling then reinstalling InDe
Hello:I work in a document with Master pages of one only page for publish on Internet. Now I am going to start the printable version and I need to convert the Master page of one page in two pages like for read in a book. How can I do this?
It's a word imported document, and doesn't matter if I change justification settings, those lines with a lot of spacing just won't change like the rest of the paragraph, some lines where the words are too close won't change too. And I do want full justify with last line left.
This is more a comment than help--as I don't think there is any. I will redo the file. But I also wanted to add that I encountered this problem, in case anyone else wants to add something similar about update issues. I don't like seeing posts that are sometimes treated dismissively because not a lot of people reported a problem. Finding how to post on this community forum is unnecessarily convoluted and difficult. After having read Adobe Community forum articles all day, as well as looking for on-topic material on the internet, and trying the chat function (I stopped at speaking with someone, bc there was a high possibility of lengthy conversation with no result. (Done it before years ago, twice was enough.) Not to mention--except I am--the list of topic choices doesn't cover this topic, and I don't see how to add to it. I have worked with Indesign for many years, but am not an "expert" or intensive user. I had my CC preferences set to manual, not automatic update
When I bring up InDesign, I get this the screen shown below. Nothing is responsive on the screen. <Title renamed by MOD>
Hi there, does anyone know how I can create a list of numbers that aren't in order like the attached image?Many thanks!Claire
Hi, I’m relatively new to working with InDesign and am currently designing a book layout.I have a baseline grid set up (see attachment). My body text size is 12pt, with a leading of 18pt.My issue is: how do I get my headlines (see attachment) to properly match the baseline grid? (Or do they even need to be on the baseline grid? If not, how do I ensure consistency?) Currently, if I align my headings to "all lines" on the baseline grid, it disrupts the leading when the text spans two lines. If I take it off the baseline or just align it to the first line, I feel like the spacing is not very consistent. Thank you for any help!
I’ve searched the Adobe InDesign handbook and many forums to find out how to do this, but I haven’t seen a solution so far. It would be amazing if someone could help me. I lay out my books so the chapter opener is always on an odd page by using “break to next odd page,” and then assign it a chapter opener (CO) master page with a Running Feet paragraph style for the page number. All other pages in the chapter are assigned to a text (T) master page with paragraph style Running Heads; blank pages are set to “none” master page. During each round of edits, the smart flow moves everything a page or two up or down, and then I have to go through the whole book and manually re-assign the master pages so the running heads/feet/none match up. I’ve easily spent hours doing this, and/or researching to see if any solution exists. I’ve tried putting chapters into sections and setting preferences to “smart reflow at end of section” and unchecked “limit to primary pages”, but that didn’t
Ho do I change the color picker/color space view to what it looks like in the other Adobe programs? I have problems with the look and function of this color view.
Hello,I'm working with InDesign via two different laptops on the same project, assuming that the library helps to manage the different files (photos). The links of the photos are not created when switching laptops, even if uploaded in the library. When I try to recreate the link to the pictures uploaded in the library I get this error message:No link to an InDesign snippet file can be created. If you continue, the existing Eleemnet on the layout will be replaced with the InDesign snippet file.Can you help?
Hello Everyone, I'm working on this sci-fi book formatting project and I have this very specific request, where the client wants to display the chapter number followed by its representation in binary numbers, so it gives off hi-tech vibes. For example: Chapter 191 0 0 1 1 Since it is a very unusual feature, and there is a large number of chapters, I wrote a dedicated script that converts the chapter number to its binary representation and creates a new text variable with this binary value, so I don't have to do it manually for every single one of them.The algorithm for the convertion itself is working fine, however, I'm facing different issues. I couldn't get the content of the chapter number text variable via script. I tried something like: var Value= app.activeDocument.textVariables.item("Chapter Number").variableOptions.contents; but it returns me the error 55, " the object does not support the property or method 'contents' ".If I try the same line of code,
Gracias
This feels like the buggiest thing.The endnotes display correctly in my file. But, when I export to PDF, the first line of the endnote disappears IF the paragraph contains Hebrew (so, mixed languages, and use of World-Ready Paragraph Composer set in the Paragraph Style). (Endnote 14 also contains Hebrew... it's just on the next page). If the all-English paragraph has World-Ready Paragraph Composer applied to it, when exported, the first line ALSO disappears in the PDF. The only one that will continue to export to PDF properly, even if World-Ready Paragraph Composer is applied, is a short one-line (like this one, Endnote 16). And no, if left aligned is applied (changed from full- or left-justify) to the above problematic paragraphs, it doesn't help either. ***In case this additional hint help you InDesign geniuses out there:Hebrew text reads right-to-left, while English, of course is left-to-right. *** View in PDFThis seems to be an issue ONLY in the endn
Recently had to use InDesign 2025 on a fairly large brochure document. Spell checker would work as long as all the text was on the page you were showing on the screen but as soon as it had to jump to a new page in the same document - it crashed. Not sure what the work-around is for this but I often work on multi-page documents so this is an important feature.
When I try to resize a text box the double click to the text frame fits eatactly the text that is inside is not working anymore, does anyone know what can for work again? Any help is appreciated. 🙂 Thanks! {Renamed by MOD}
Dear Adobe InDesign Team,I would like to request the addition of a feature that allows text alignment for interactive forms to be managed directly within InDesign, rather than having to perform this task in Adobe Acrobat.Currently, our workflow involves creating datasheets with centered ordering codes, which are frequently updated. Each update requires redoing the text alignment in Acrobat, adding unnecessary steps to our process. This is both time-consuming and frustrating, especially for what should be a simple text alignment adjustment.Having this feature integrated into InDesign would greatly improve efficiency and streamline the creation of interactive forms, saving significant time and effort for teams managing similar projects.Thank you for considering this suggestion.Best regards
Hello! I'm working as a PM in a graphic design company. We're designing mostly reports. Our designers works on InDesign and create Share for Review(SfR) links. They are publicy available links. And I share it with our clients. Clients make comment and designers apply those comments in InDesign. As a PM, I need to monitor the commenting and resolving process in the SfR links. However, sometimes when I click the SfR link, it directs me to cloud files. I cannot see the link. What might be the reason and solution to my problem?As a note, my designer colleague prepare the InDesign link directly from his/her Adobe account and I see the links from another Adobe account. Thank you for your help!
I am using indesign version 20.0.0 ans UXP verison 8.0.1.I want to fetch the location of comment in pdf where it is applied. PdfComment's property commentPathGeometry is giving error.Exception: Error: The requested action could not be completed because the object no longer exists. at PDFComment.invokeGetter (<anonymous>:6:32) Below is the code snippet which I had used for fetching comments and screenshot of PDFComment object with exception.. const { entrypoints, storage } = require("uxp"); const { app } = require("indesign"); if (app.documents.length > 0) { const doc = app.activeDocument; if (doc.pdfComments.length > 0) { for (let i = 0; i < doc.pdfComments.length; i++) { const comment = doc.pdfComments.item(i); console.log(comment); } } }
I'm working on a large catalog with over 200 pages. What are the best practices to keep the file manageable and avoid crashes? Any tips on splitting the document or optimizing performance?
Whenever I export my advert in - ISO Coated v2 300% (ECI) - my images look really dark, if the image is black or has dark shadows, the picture looks dark when printed - how can I resolve this?
