InDesign

I am currently trying to convert a 58 page PDF into a fully editable InDesign document and found this article from 10/17/24 showing that the InDesign (Beta) version can do just that. However, after installing and opening the beta version I am met with a window that states "Your InDesign (Beta) build has expired." and the app closes... anyone have any insights on this? Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you

I am working on a project that my company puts out twice a year. The last time I used InDesign was maybe 3 months ago. In that time, all of my existing settings seem to have disappeared, along with my bottom scroll bar (and the presaved color swatches and the arrangement of how all the different panels are on the screen -- that's less of an issue and not something I'm worried about). It's as if the entire app window is too long to view on my screen. All of my panels have also been rearranged into different areas as well, completely different from the way I've had it set up for the last 3.5 years.The only way I can scroll downward is my pinching my touch screen (to resize the workspace) and using the hand tool (I'm using an HP Surface Pro laptop). It lags horribly as I do this and it doesn't jump from page to page this way either. Things I've tried:- Maximize and minimize the app in window- I've tried switching the viewing option in the upper right hand corner. - I've moved my

hello, I have a book with several documents, on each page of the documents there is a title describing a drawing, the drawing is valid for several contexts. I want to create an index listing the drawings of each context, with the corresponding page number. So a drawing will appear several times in the index. How do I set up the index?

So I made multiple indesign document for school use. But a year passed and I had to buy the licentie again. When I downloaded Indesign again all my InDesign files where gone. No sign of them anywhere.  And I don't have my files saved on my laptop because I had issues and the laptop had to be repaired in the meantime. I do have all my Illustrator files on my creative cloud and in Illustrator app. Just not the InDesign files. How do I get them back or how did this happen?

For an export from Indesign to JPEG, how to name JPEG files with a specific name wich is the 13 first characters (EAN) among the 14 first of every Indesign files name :9782340-046337_COUV_2022_02_24.inddbecomes9782340046337.jpg 2. Hi everyone, I'm currently working on a book project in Adobe InDesign that consists of 250 pages. I have two separate INDD files: one containing all the text and the other containing all the images. My goal is to combine these two files so that each page has the corresponding text overlaid on the images, but I’m finding it quite tedious to do this manually page by page. Is there a way to automate this process? I’m considering using scripts but I’m not very experienced in that area. Any guidance on how to efficiently merge the text and images, or any scripts that could help with this task, would be greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance for your assistance!

I'm having issues with colours in Indesign and Photoshop. When I open a jpeg in photoshop or place it in Indesign the colours become really saturated even when exporting the PDF. How can I get the colours I see when I open the jpeg in preview? When I export the document as an Epub the colours are fine.  Thanks,Lucy

Hi there - great to see this feature added after requests for it for many years 🙂However there does seem to be a bug present. I'm running Indesign 19.4 and password protection was working fine on Thursday.Saturday 27 April a 16 page docoument with animation to the cover has been returning a accessdenied error or it would let me in but the pages wont load.This happeneded to the original publication from Thursday and to new version of it that I uploaded to test.   <Title renamed by moderator>

Congratulations to me if I can competently describe what I want to do, ha ha. I have a parent page with a frame to hold an image on the child pages. I copy an image to the clipboard, create a child page, Cmd + Shift + Click to select the frame from the parent, then right-click and Paste Into to paste my image into the frame. Works perfectly. I have  a transparent gif that I want to appear over that image on every child page. Is there some way to put that image into the frame in the parent page so that it appears in the frame on the child page above my pasted image? This is the overlay I want on my parent page:  Then I'm going to copy an image like this:  And paste it into my child page so that it shows up like this, under the overlay:  Is there a way to do this? I do want to retain the option of repositioning the frame (or making other changes) on the parent page and have it reposition on all the child pages. So I don't want to do

I've been banging my head against a wall.trying to figure out a tab order issue that I can't seem to figure out. Any ideas are greatly appreciated.  Bullets for Speed This is a fairly large InDesign file that is part of a book. ~300 pages total.When exporting a file individually, it follows the correct tab order.When exporting as part of the book, it follows the layer order. The Cause of The Problem? The reason why we cannot move layers around easily is because they're anchored within the text frame. And due to split column, some of the anchored form fields are being read in the wrong order when it comes to tab order.The wrong tab order is following the layer order, and the file does not allow for dragging the layers to reorder. (We think it's because it uses paragraph menu -> hamburger menu -> span columns, but not 100% sure if that's why.)We CAN reorder the layers with the Edit -> "Edit in Story Mode" with cut and paste, but the layout gets all messe

When adding files to a book, I occasionally get an error message telling me the file can't be added because it's in use or I don't have permission. Help, please.

I must have accidentally hit something, because when I drag a ruler or grid line from the side of the page, the values indicating x or y position are so tiny I can't read them. No clue what I've done, but I can't work with them like this. Any help appreciated.

Hi Adobe Community!I've finsihed creating a document consisting of multiple pages and exported all of them in PNG format (72ppi, Maximum Quality) and I noticed that on one very specific page lines appeared below specific images...I have no clue what is causing this and I've tried exporting the page multipe times but nothing changes. Any Idea how I could resolve this issue?  Thanks in advance for your replies!      <Title renamed by MOD>

This book design begins each chapter with a 2-page spread, and never the last page of the preceding chapter occupying the left side. All the chapters are separate files, and each has a vestigal page 1, a single page before the actual opening spread. I did not know at the time, or now, how to have the document set up otherwise, though I tried (deleting the blank page 1, my spread would be then be split up, ruined for working on/considering  the spread as a whole, with the left page then becoming placed as page 1, a right page, and then the right page of the spread moving over to the left,  as a separate page).The book is now done, 47 chapters, and whenever assembling using the book function, all those empty page 1 blanks need to be deleted in the pdf. Again time consuming, doing it whether as a pdf or otherwise. How can this be done initially in ID, and now, when it must be outputted without the blank at the start of every chapter?Appreciative of assistance.

i want to make a book where it bond by the top and bottom rather than bound by the spine. Where do i go to make this edit? I would also like to view it vertical instead of horizontaly as existing.  

Is there a limit on how long the found GREP result can be??     For shorter blocks of text - it will select all lines:     If I start removing some words from the first block - it will select bigger part - more paragraph(s)??   Also, what should be the GREP query to find everything in between:   REFERENCES ... ... CHAPTER   but excluding those words - so the found result will be like on the 2nd screenshot.   Because, even something like this doesn't work??     Nor this:         <Title renamed by MOD>  

Recently I made an interactive food menu for a client, and it was all fine and it's interactive, however!when it's being used the tools such as draw and other tools are visible, how can I use the pdf without showing anything but the pdf, i don't want the overlays or anything to show when using the pdf.

Ever since InDesign updated from version 19.5 to version 20, the current page number marker on my master pages will not sync. Now, every document in my book just starts from page 1. So, in other words, every chapter starts over at page 1. Please help. I've included a screen grab of my problem. You'll see that the page numbers on the actual document don't match the page numbers indicated in the pages window or in the book window. I've redone the marker in the master pages and resynced, but no dice...     <Title renamed by MOD>

As shown in the above image I have an empty space between "Social - group interaction" and "Emotional - books, dramatic play". I am unable to select it. I have activated show hidden characters and I still cannot see or select the object (if there is one at all). When I backspace the emotional dot point it simply jumps over the blank space to the end of the previous line of text. I am wanting to remove this empty space so the dot points flow from one to the next with equal spacing. Kind Regards, Dave.

I am unable to update to InDesign 20.0.I click on the "Update" button, and nothing happens. The Creative Cloud window has a box checked that says, "Works with this device". Any suggestions?     <Title renamed by MOD>

Please help! I have exported my InDesign file as a pdf document and I am trying to tag with accessibility tags... I have automatically added tags and now in the process of fixing the tagging - but every time I save it, it will either revert back to old, removes tags, moves them around or makes them blank! This is a client project and I am in big strife if I cannot get this to work. When looking at the reading order, it is also all out of wack and I cannot get it to match the tag list order... which may be part of the issue... help!  I keep fixing it and it keeps changing.    <Title renamed by MOD>

Hi Team Indesign has updated itself over the weekend to 19.0. I am running Windows 10 Enterprise Version 22H2. Since then the  Control Z  keyboard short cut will not work. When I go to Edit > Undo from the top menu it is grayed out. Also the when resizing a text box the content will not flow to the new size or shape of the box until I click inside the text box. Is there an update or work around for these issues / bugs It was all working fine on friday before the update. Thanks Rod
