InDesign

Nearing end of a 3+ year-long endeavor constructing a new edition of a well known '50s architectural tome, now illustrated and annotated with support of the architect's son. After undergoing a file corruption issue a few months ago, the book has been deconstructed into its 40-odd individual chapters from the original one file.I haven't experience recombining from multiple files like this, as I've long worked on single-file constructions, wisely or not, never getting into ID's book feature. Overwhelmed by the dissertation-level effort invested in this over years, I must seek instruction now on how to cope with reassably from separate files. How's it done?

my indesign file is corrupted and gives error code 6. I can't open the file so I have to save it in a different version. How exactly can I solve this? 

I am running a mac mini with OS Sonoma 14.7.I regularly use Publish Online.After installing InDesign 2025,  I published a document in which I had drawn a vector line with the pen tool:  The result was a block of colour rather than the line. Both jpg images I had placed in the document were also missing.When I resintalled InDesign 19.5, the publish online feature worked correctly (see above).Is this a known bug? 

Hi,   I am using the Adobe Naskh typeface for setting Arabic script in InDesign CS6 (v.8.0). I am getting instances of the dots being positioned incorrectly.     This is how the script should appear...   The issue can be resolved with the following: by turning off ligatures but this is NOT an acceptable solution because one of the beauties of Adobe Naskh is its use of ligatures.   The position of the dots can also be changed in the language support plugin i.e. changing diacritc position from OpenType to Normal but the positioning becomes even worse!   I am having problems recreating the issue and so I do not know why it is occuring. Things I have tried:   retyping the text redefining the paragraph style from scratch and removing dependencies on other styles removing overrides and character styles pasting text into a new document removing Latin glyphs  removing punctuation glyphs (e.g. apostrophe, quotation mark, guillmot) removing footnote ma

Assuming that I am using a reputable typeface in InDesign (i.e. one packaged with the software or from a known foundry/developer) ... why would certain OpenType features not work?   For example, using Libertinus Sans, I find in one document the "OpenType All Small Caps" feature works and in another document it does not.   Similarly, with Adobe Naskh (an Arabic typeface) I find that sometime the diacritics and dots are poorly positioned but in another document with seemingly the same document, para and character settings I do not get the problem.   So, if I am finding certain OpenType features are not working for me...where should I look first?   If this question seems too broad then it is because I am finding it difficult to recreate the problem with specific settings or a specific font.   I am just asking where to continue looking in trouble shooting .... is it most likely a font problem or an InDesign problem or a mixture of the two? Hi, I have a InDesign table that I want to be able to clip as per the yellow highlighted bounding frame. The overset indicator on the bottom is correctly clipping the table rows, but on the column it is not. I'm currently in the middle of working on a project where I am using the Share for Review feature, after updating to 20.0 the authosrs previous comments and the link to the shared file have been removed.   This is not exactly convenient.   <Title renamed by MOD>

I'm using a aragraph style with the Paragraph Rule Above setting. Notice on the 2nd line in the screenshot, it wraps around to a 3rd line, yet the yellow background color doesn't follow it. What do I need to do to get the yellow to wrap around?           <Title renamed by MOD>

A difficult and complex Indesign document was lost, but I have a PDF of the (almost) finished doc. Is there a way to export a PDF into Indesign so that it can be edited? It's got lots of figures and tables and took me four days to typeset, and if there's a way to get even a rough typeset copy, that would save me a ton of work going from scratch from Word.   Thanks for any help. I can't press save in Indesign, the gray bar that can't be pressed and some other commands can't be used. But what really disappoints me is that I've been working for 2 hours of recording. Normally I set it to save automatically, but this time the program didn't save and I still can't save to close the program. I have to force close the program and when I open the file, I find that I have to work again. What? I didn't pay for the license to encounter something like this.in v 20.0   <Title renamed by MOD>

Hi, I am new to InDesign and EPUB creation so go easy on me for my lack of foundational knowledge.  When I export my ebook to EPUB format, I am losing spaces between some words (but not all). For example, "fill it with" comes out as "fillitwith". I am using InDesign version 16.1.0.20 on a Mac. My font is Courier New. I checked the hidden characters and my spaces are shown there, but not in the EPUB conversion. Is my problem with my font selection?  I tried changing my paragraph and character styles. I tried changing the font to something else that worked - but I would really prefer to keep my existing font.  Thanks!

hi all - InDesign export to EPUB3 (Fixed-layout)on export - 'Cover' > 'Choose image'all works as expected on iBooks / Calibre / Kindle Previewer but on Adobe Digital Editions the cover shown in 'Library' is a section of the first '.xhtml' file in the book's reading sequence. How can I get the cover image showing correctly on ADE?I can get it to work by following - on export - 'Cover' - 'Rasterize first page', but only want the covers to show in 'Library' view!any help would be appreciated - thanks

My colleague  saves all his image files as psds or re-saves jpgs as psds for a magazine he designs in inDesign. Surely when inDesign exports to PDF, it compresses them to jpgs anyway? He said they print better if they're psds, any truth in that? It's taking up so much memory and an unnecessary task in my opnion - any truth in his theory?   <Title renamed by MOD>

Hi there, I bought the Windows Surface 11 Pro as I used the 9, before. Now I want to use InDesign and Illustrator on it, but there is no Desktop Version visible in the CC. Are there any plans that those two apps will work on the Surface 11? Or do I have to change my hardware... again?Thanks for help and information
