Hi, there guys.I have a bit of a question which someone might have a solution/s.Every month I am producing multiple reports (30) made specifically for different clients but the content commentary (description) are almost the same. I make the initially report with the content (with words and charts) then that same description goes to the rest of the report.All the reports are templated the same for all (2 columns with Paragraph and Character Styles).My challenge is how to "improve" my workflow when revising the report. Because when the main report changes, all the reports change as well.Internally, we made sure the initial report is checked until it is absolutely correct. But there are times that there are last minute changes and that means I have to manually change everything. When that happens, I do Find/Change on All Documents then export as pdf.Initially, I thought of using linked Indesign Story and the edits will be done with InCopy and using a script to export all pdfs at onc

I just updated to InDesign 2024 today. I chose the option remove the2023 version but keep my Preferences etc. After installing, all .indd files were not associated with the new InDesign. So I went to "Open With" and selected the new InDesign.exe file. (It did not show up in the initial list and I had to search for it). Now the files will open automatically, but the file icon for all indd files is still the blank white box instead of showing the ID logo. I have not had the same icon issue after updating both Illustrator and Photoshop to the new versions. This is on a PC running Windows 10.

Indesign CC2024 (19.5) MAC OS Sonoma 14.4.1 When I open an indesign file that I have used many times on my desktop from a packaged folder, it wants to look for the images on another user's computer where the file was originally packaged.  I also have the issue when I package a file. All links are there and nothing is pixelated. I package the file and generate a PDF. The PDF has pixelated images, like the links are missing. I open up the indesign file in the newly packaged folder and the images are pixelated but it shows the links are there. I relink the images and the images look great.  This is happening with multiple files, not just one. Is anyone else having this issue or have a solution?      <Title renamed by MOD>

Ok I have to insert a number on all odd pages in a 30 page coupon book. I need to change the number for each book, there are 500 books How do I automate this I cant seem to make this easy!! The file attached is book 1 the next book needs to be numbered 1001. 

Hello all, I am familiar with InDesign's interactive options, but I recently read an article published by Adobe about the Publish Online capability within InDesign and the examples they included looked to have advanced animation capabilities, beyond my understanding of what InDesign allows. Is this because I am a novice at PDF interactions, or are they using other applications to create this effect?Here is the article I am referring to. I am working in the most recent version of InDesign. When I open a packaged file received from a client. I am given the message from InDesign that fonts are missing. I then open Fontbook and load the supplied fonts. When I go back to InDesign they are not loaded. I have waited a good 5 minutes for InDesign to sync. Still nothing. If I save the document and quit InDesign, then relaunch it, the fonts are present. Anyone know how to fix this. In the past once fonts were loaded they would simply update in InDesign. Im hoping I dont have to quit and relaunce so many times throughout the day. Also, there have been instances where I load the font and they update in InDesign. I can see they visually have updated, but InDesign still shows an error of them missing and also has them highlighted in pink - even though they appear correct. If I follow the same process of quit and relaunch it resolves the issue, but again, trying to avoid constant quit and relaunch. 

I always use the selection tool (black arrow) to drag any control handle on a selected image frame to crop the image.But out of the blue, when I drag the control handle it 'resizes' the image, but does not crop it.I cannot seem to find the correct help NOT to resize, but crop my image.{Renamed by MOD}

Hi Folks,I have one file of around 140 pages, which is in .PM5 format. I read about this on multiple platforms and found that its a complecated process that involves multiple conversions. Can anyone help me with this conversion to word or indesign or simple .txt? Its okay for me if layout gets scatterred , just need to copy text from it.Thanks.       <Title renamed by MOD>

When using InDesign, selecting multi-paragraph, I usually go into the control panel to make changes (here, space after). I can use the arrow (increase or decrease of .0125 in only). But, if I want to go very precise, I usually just type the number I want. THE PROBLEM: What's happening not, is that it change the selected text (instead of changing the space after) to the number I just typed. I don't understand why it does that because my keyboard is in the space after space. I've been doing this for a long time before ...It seems that when only one paragraph is selected, it's working fine. But I don't have time for this!I got InDesign CC2017 and got the problem since I did the update.Please help, it really bother me.

Bonjour Depuis quelques jours, la fonction "magnétisme des repères" ne fonctionne plus du tout. J'ai essayé de désactiver puis réactiviter mais rien n'y fait. C'est terriblement embêtant pour la création... Avez-vous une idée de comment résoudre ce problème ? Merci d'avance 

I have an image of a person silhouetted against a black background. The image itself is grayscale and I've made sure the black parts are 100% black. When I place this image against a black background in InDesign, the two different black backgrounds look different. I don't understand why, or how to fix this. I'm printing this on an at-home laser printer and the blacks are showing up as different tones. But even when I export the layout as a PDF, you can see different blacks in the resulting PDF. Any help would be appreciated!

I have been experimenting with variable fonts with ID 19.5. How stable is InDesign with variable fonts? I am encountering weird things, like, say, having a style that is now Optima, changing it to Commissioner with Flare (Flair they call it themselves) 100 and InDesign trying to set Flare on Optima and then complaining that the fonts is unavailable (duh). And I've seen other weird things. Like setting Flare to 100 and as a result InDesign also changes Weight. So are there people who have done a decent amount of using variantion on variable fonts and had no trouble at all (my situation is — again — special)? Or do people have comparable experiences?

Hi guys,Scripts are meant to help us doing repetitive and time consuming tasks, and I'm getting crazy about that one. So I'd willing to jump into wrting one. The thing is, starting from scratch isn't easy, especially when you're a begginner at scripting.So I'd like to gather advice before going anywhere. What is the problem :Filling the bleed manually. Very time consuming.On any document with some BG layout, the bleed has to be filled, we all know that. I use a lot of pictures and for some reasons I do not want put some part of them into the bleed area. Hi,   I am setting up a leaflet using a template I have been provided. There's 5 'pages' total, currently over 2 spreads and one page.   I want to change it so that the first 'spread' - which is a title page and back page, isn't a spread and is just individual pages. The file will likely be used digitally so this formatting makes the most sense, with the user viewing the title page at the beginning of the doc and the back page (with contract details etc) at the end.    I have tried to turn the spread into two pages by right clicking and deselecting ' Allow selected spread to shuffle', then have tried both duplicating and moving the page. When I duplicate it, the page gets added to the spread (so it appears as a spread of 3) and although the text carries over none of the images or formatting I had inserted previously does.    The other way I have tried is right clicking on the first page of the spread and selecting 'Duplicate page at the end of document' an

Hi community   Am getting constant spinning wheel issues with InDesign only.Mac OS is Catalina 10.15.4InDesign 15.0.2 MacBook Pro 2019   Spinning wheel appears every few seconds or so, lasting 20-40 seconds each time. InDesign is basically unusable.   I tried various suggestions from these pages: • Removed preferences and cache • Resaved a doc as IDML • Changed font in doc to Times New Roman. Disabled all fonts except system ones. Removed all Adobe Fonts. • Uninstalled InDesign without keeping prefs, then re-installed. • In new install turned off GPU Preformance, Preflight checking, set Display to Typical, no page thumbnails.    None of those helped. Then I stumbled across that turning WiFi off on my Mac will fix the problem. InDesign then runs normally with no hanging. If I then turn WiFi on again it will run properly for a few minutes, then the spinning ball comes back. When spinning wheel is showing, InDesign in Activity Monitor shows red and "Not Respo

Hi, I have created a customised adobe preset in InDesign called "Lowres with screenshots". I  want to use this preset as default when I am creating final package out of the InDesign file. Currently it is creating pdf taking default preset while creating the package . So I have to delete the pdf from the final package and create the pdf again using my customized "Loweres with screenshot" preset. Can anyone please suggest how can I set my "Lowres with screenshots" preset as default while creating final InDesign package, so that I dont need to delete pdf from the folder and create again using my preset? Thank you in advanceHimakara

I have worked hard to build myself a long list of GREP Search and Find query, but it got deleted after I restored a previous version of InDesign.Is there an option to save the entire list I created, and if not - why isn't such an option created? It's really required.     <Title renamed by MOD>

I use a special font, on which the two end-bracket characters ] } have a different image, which fits with others, and I do not want a line break after these symbols.But Indesign seems to consider that this is an ideal spot to start a new line.  Inserting a discretionary hyphen (before or after the sequence that I want unbroken) does not prevent it.  If there is a regular hyphen just one character later, InDesign nonetheless wants to break after the bracket. For example:  Hfh-RNa-B]b-Ga-is broken  Hfh-RNa-B]  b-Ga-(In this case, another couple characters could fit on the top line.)I have fiddled with hyphenation, turned it off, that doesn't fix it. (INDD doesn't add a hyphen, it doesn't think it is hyphenating a word.) I tried adding B]b to the user dictionary, that didn't help. Resetting language to All Languages didn't help. It does not happen with opening brackets, nor with < >Earlier INDD versions did not do this.But for now, is there any way to p

I successfully (sort of) used the InDesign Place function with a Word.docx for text and endnotes. But, it added 1,330 blank pages between the last page of text (p. 100) and the endotes. With the Type/Hidden Characters Shown, each page (except the endnote page) has a blue, hidden "#" mark showing  on the top left. What did I do? I also see on the first page of the text along with the # mark, there is a blue line along the top of the page horizontally, just under the page margin line. Also, on p. 101 after the last page of text, is the another hidden character, one with with a dot and and down button indicator.  Other than these hidden characters, the pages are blank. These are in the screen shots attached. This is the beginning of the 1,330 blank pages. So, I can manually delete the blank pages and be on my way, but if anyone can tell me what exactly I did here, I would like to avoid future problems. After this, I'm typing right into InCopy or InDesign. No more Word for m
