"Hi everyone,I recently switched to a new MacBook and I am trying to set up my workflow. I have several ongoing projects that were created using InDesign 2024 (version 19.x).To ensure the layout and formatting of these existing files remain perfectly intact, I do not want to convert them to the latest version of InDesign at this stage. I specifically need to install the 2024 version on my new machine to continue working on these files. However, when I check the 'Other Versions' section in the Creative Cloud Desktop app, the 2024 version is not listed or available for download. I have searched through various Adobe help pages but haven't found a direct download link or a way to make it appear in the app.Could someone please guide me on how to access and install InDesign 2024 on a new macOS system?Thank you in advance for your help!"
We're experiencing an issue when attempting to relink missing assets stored on an SMB network share.EnvironmentAdobe InDesign (Latest Version)Files stored on an SMB network share.macOS (Fully up to date)The ProblemWhen a linked file is missing and we choose Relink in InDesign, searching for the filename returns no results, even though the file exists on the SMB share. However:Finder can locate the file immediately.Spotlight also finds the file without any issues.Screenshot 1 Attached – InDesign Relink search returns no resultsWhat We Have TriedWe found a script that can be run from within InDesign. I’ve been using a competing vector program for creating braille signage and wondered if there was any plans on having this be something Illustrator or Indesign could incorporate natively so that I can stop using the other program entirely? The workflow currently with adobe products is:go to some conversion web page like brailletranslator.org paste text in for the conversion, copy results go back into my Indesign doc using a braille font with a CA Standard paragraph style (that I’ve created)This works for making 1-10 signs, but I’d prefer to have this be something I was able to merge from a CSV file as we typically need to create 100 individual signs at a time--which the competing program will also not do. It does however have a TEXT TO BRAILLE and BRAILLE TO TEXT option from the TEXT menu and a panel that looks a little like this:
This feature was installed without my knowing it. It slows down my workflow because it takes forever to do a conversion and the cancel button doesn't work. I've accidentally activated it about four times today. I want to turn it off/uninstall it, but the Adobe page describing the feature doesn't tell me how. It's a beta, so I should be able to opt out. Anyone know how?
Hoping that someone can help me. I have several documents that all have numbered paaragraphs. I'm creatign an index so would like the index reference to not only show the page but also the paragraph. I see there is an option for custom cross refeernce - but I don't know how to add the paragraph number. And in this index I only want to reference the first occurrence of the item. Any scripts would be most useful and appreciated.- so for example the bolded word Cape North needs to be indexed - it is on page2-11 and paragraph number 11, South Point - page 2-11, para #8. and so on. In fact , all the bolded words need to be indexed. It seems like a script should be possible for this.
Hello everyone,I have a MacBook Pro (Mid 2012) running macOS Catalina 10.15.7.The latest versions of InDesign in Creative Cloud are not compatible with my OS, and the "Other Versions" option is not available in my account.I urgently need to install InDesign 16.4 (or any 16.x version compatible with Catalina). If anyone still has access to the official .dmg installer for this version, could you please share the download link?I have an active Creative Cloud subscription, so I will activate the software legally - I only need the installer itself.Thank you in advance for your help!Best regards,Junna
Since updating to InDesign 21.5, exporting/saving a story as InCopy (ICML) can omit a table's column width dataEnvironment: InDesign 21.5, Windows. Is this a known/tracked bug, and is a fix scheduled? Is there a recommended workaround in the meantime?
Mac, OS Tahoe 26.3.1 (a)In the past I have had this problem with Illustrator and Photoshop. Now it sometimes appears with InDesign as well. If I try to drag the active window to another place on my screen, by dragging from the top of the window, it disappears behind all other apps currently open. Oddly, any free floating palettes stay on top. If I can still see a part of the window, I can click on it to bring it back to the front. If not, I have to go to the dock to bring it forward. Nothing is lost so this is an annoyance rather than a real problem, but why does it happen and why is it now happening with ID as well as the others?
Since this post seems to be marked as resolved after the Adobe Community update and it isn’t resolved, I’m creating a new post and linking to the old one. All the relevant information can be found here (at least all of the information that survived the Adobe Community update -- there are several missing posts). Long story short -- when you install Windows Security updates, some system fonts -- Times New Roman for me -- throw a missing font error in InDesign. This error only goes away if you uninstall the Windows Security update. More detailed info can be found in the linked post. This issue has been going on for literally months, since last November, and we’ve got bupkis to show for it -- less than bupkis now that some of the original posts have been nerfed with the Adobe Community update and the original thread appears dead. Adobe. Please. Help. This is beyond frustrating now...
Hi, why is my workspace when opening a indesing file always going back to 'Essenstial' setting? This is an issue I have for a year now.Very annoying.thnaks BAS <Titile renamed by MOD>
When working in InDesign, entire objects (text fields, color areas, linked images) disappear and are no longer displayed. Not even their frames. The layers cannot be selected by clicking on the location where the elements are located. Zooming into the document or changing the view mode doesnt change anything in the visability of the objects. However, the objects are still there in the layers window. Similarly, when exporting a PDF, the invisible objects become visible again. I can make the objects visible again by copying and pasting them onto a new page or by saving an IDML and opening it. However, the objects keep disappearing when working in the file.Tested with GPU turned on and off.
None of my adobe services are working. I have tried everything I can, can someone help me?These are screenshots of what happens when I try to open any of my apps.
Hello, why can't I upload files to Indd when it worked fine for years. Most graphic designers and studios work with NAS devices. I can't save anything, I have to make copies and restore files. Can something be done about it? Thank you very much rh <Title renamed by MOD>

My computer is quite old and I am unable to install the current version. My computer has:Windows 10 Home, 64-bit Intel Celeron N4000 processor @ 1.10 GHz 4 GB of RAMWhen I open Creative Cloud, InDesign appears as version 21.5.1, but it says that the application is not compatible with my computer.I have already enabled the option to show older applications in Creative Cloud, but when I click the three dots next to InDesign, I only see “Manage add-ons”. The “Other versions” option does not appear.I also checked Adobe’s page listing available application versions, but InDesign does not appear there.I found information indicating that older versions, such as InDesign CC 2019 (14.x), had lower system requirements and could work with Windows 10 64-bit and 4 GB of RAM. However, I have not been able to find a safe and official way to download it.Is there any official way to install an older version of InDesign that would be compatible with my computer? If so, which version would you recommend a
I understand what they're there for, but Its really distracting when Im trying to layout a page. I know I can hide them when I hide my guides - but I need my guides to work with. Thank you.
I'm experiencing a reproducible issue with Adobe InDesign 21.4.1 on Windows 11.Environment:- Windows 11- Adobe InDesign 21.4.1- Single monitorIssue:If InDesign is closed while the Pages panel is the active panel, opening any .indd file by double-clicking it in Windows Explorer causes InDesign to freeze during startup. The loading cursor continues indefinitely and the document never opens. However, if I launch InDesign first and then use File > Open, the same document opens normally. What I tested:- The issue also occurs with a brand new test.indd file.- It is not related to a specific document.- Resetting InDesign preferences temporarily fixes the issue.- Other panels (Layers, Links, Transform, etc.) can be moved or docked without causing the problem.- If I close InDesign with the Properties panel active instead of the Pages panel, double-click opening works normally.- Simply displaying the Pages panel before closing InDesign causes the issue to return, even without saving the workspac
Hi there I had to replace my old laptop, which had InDesign 19.5 on it as that's the version my client is using. But I'm struggling to download that version on my new laptop - a Dell Latitude 7420, running Windows 11 Pro, with 16 GB RAM. On the Adobe desktop app, the oldest INDD version I can access is 20.0. Any idea how I can download 19.5?Thanks!
My InDesign has been acting up for the past six months or so when I try pasting in a separate file into the InDesign document. Whenever I paste in a file, whether it's a pdf or a picture, InDesign freezes up and I have to force quit out and restart. Sometimes that helps the issue for awhile and other times it just keeps freezing up over and over again.
(InDesign 21.5.1, Windows 11 Pro)There have been (are) several problems with InDesign’s Undo feature, to which a new one (as far as I know) can be added: when you Save As a document, the undo stack is no longer removed. This is a problem because over time, a document’s size can increase enormously. Reported here:https://indesign.uservoice.com/forums/601180-adobe-indesign-bugs/suggestions/51605780--save-as-doesn-t-clear-the-undo-stack
For the past month or two, any time I try to Place a file or update a Placed file, InDesign usually freezes. The cursor turns into the spinning circle. I can close and save the files after this, but cannot close the InDesign app. I try various ways to place the files. File > Place or Ctrl D or copy and paste the placed file from another InDesign file. The files I use are typically on my Google Drive and I’ve installed the Drive app on my machine. This is REALLY getting annoying. Adobe used to be so good with bugs. Any ideas? I’ve read a few posts that say they thought version 21.3 fixed this issue but I’ve still got it.I’ve reset preferences, cleared old versions of InDesign, reinstalled InDesign. I’m using data merge for a set of labels. The labels have different colours. I use a path ‘@image from Excel for solid block colours (JPGs) to achieve the different colours in the data merge. I’ve been trying to apply the colours to a white shape (mono TIF) in Indesign with the overlay effect but can’t get it to just colour the white shape and then not effect the photo in the background. I’ve tried isolation and knockout options but can’t achieve the effect I want. I originally tried setting an object style but couldn't get it to work that way. Is what I’m trying even possible?
Dear friends,Indesign won't start on my Windows 10 machine with no error messages popping up.I tried installing versions 14 and 13 and tested them in Windows 8,7 and Vista compatibility modes. The result is the same: the program loading process initiates, checks modules etc, then it ends abruptly with no error message. What can I do? I am attempting to depict flashing railway signal lights on paper and in a PDF. I’m using a multi-pointed star that I created in Illustrator, copy-pasted into InDesign and it looks great on screen. But when I export to PDF and then print that PDF on paper, anything on a black background just doesn’t show up.This is how it looks in InDesign at 200% magnification. Same 200% from Acrobat and appears the same on paper:If I zoom in to 800% on the PDF it’s marginally better but I need it to look correct at 100%, not 800%+.I’ve widened the spikes so they’re more rounded to get more area but it’s absolutely not the effect I want.Any suggestions? This has been vexing me for weeks now.
