InDesign

Hi, I tried to find a specific color. In my case a Pantone color. But there were no objects in the document with that color, so it was not possible to use “Find Color.” I had to remove “style by style” to find out what format this color has.  Is there a better and faster way to find such "hidden" colors? Thanks!mycc Indesign, Windows 11, latest versions

Hi, I am ready to jump out a window with this one. I have an object style applied to two text frames (image attached), which applies a stroke and shading, auto-size, fixed width. One style is for a single column, one is for a double column. I can't apply these attributes in the paragraph styles, because in the double column, it treats the text as two single columns, and doesn't apply shading and a stroke in the gutter.However, I can't offset the bottom stroke in the object style, which means the shading in that style projects below it. Adjusting inset spacing in the object style has no effect. I'm an experienced ID user, but not an expert. This has me absolutely stumped. And frankly, close to tears with frustration. Any ideas?

why are the lines not even when splitting the paragraph?? 

I have two questions regarding paragraph styles for my article i'm working onFirst, how can I get a line between columns as a paragraph style? second, how can I get a line across the entire paragraph (that was split into 2)  - when I try line below it only goes on the second side - how can I get a stlye that will give it to me across the entire thing?

Nous voulont mettre à jours les textes mais cela ne fonctionne plus.Nous avons un message de tout réimporté 😞 . Cela vas nous prendre 1 semaine tout refaire les produits en français et anglais.Lorsque que nous avons importer on nous demandais la cellule (ex: M168) Maintenant on nous demande (ex:A1:B@40290). Je ne sais pas quoi faire ou prendre la bonne information. merci  

how do i get each paragraph to be split into 2?

Es handelt sich um die Datei für einen Buchumschlag. Sie ist in Indesign v 20 erstellt. Nach dem Öffnen in Indesign v 21 sind die verknüpften Bilddateien nicht mehr dieselben. Außerdem fehlt der Anschnitt.Gibt es eine Möglichkeit, v20 zusätzlich zu v21 zu installieren?

Hello everyone! I’m having an issue with Adobe InDesign — my files keep getting corrupted, and I haven’t been able to recover them. Has anyone experienced this before or knows an effective way to fix or recover corrupted InDesign files? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I’m trying to display mongolian script in Indesign correctly. The writing is displayed differently in Word and Indesign (see image below), while the same font is being used: “Mongolian Baiti”. Using a different font, such as “Mongolian BaiZheng Pua” results in the same differences between Word and Indesign. The same happens on other computers at my workplace, and my publisher’s computer. The author has stated the the writing in Word is correct, while the one in Indesign is not.Can anyone tell me how to display the Mongolian script correctly in Indesign?

I’m writing a plug-in for InDesign, but I keep losing my JS code changes when I close the tool or ID crashes.But in the editor, the code is marked as dirty when I make changes; and then that’s cleared when I “save” it. But if I look at the JS file on disk (using the dev tool’s “Open folder” command), it doesn’t reflect my changes. There’s no “show in Explorer” option in the context menu in the left pane of the UXP tool, and “Copy link address” doesn’t work; it just copies the filename, not the path. And the “Filesystem” tab is useless: It contains nothing, and the “add folder to workspace” button does nothing. So… are people just using some other tool and still littering their code with alerts to debug?

Not sure how this is happening but any placed images come in at half their actual size. JPGs exported from PSD 72dpi...

how can i get more spacing around the drop cap?  

I have a 200+ page document I've been formatting only to discover that I cannot apply my parent pages to selected pages. I have multiple authors who need specific header names on their works, and I do not want to click and drag the parent pages 100 times 😞 The bottom of the file does allow me to right click and apply parent to selected pages, but the top does not. It doesn't have an option to apply to selected pages anymore, and it only applies to the entire document, like so: 

Hello, recently I have been having some rendering issues with Adobe InDesign: Problem: All elements become invisible once text boxes are applied (as well as a software crash)Frames remain visible and intractable (selectable, editable, highlightable), but content does not render on the page.(The issue persists across fresh installs and different files) Corruptive element: Text FramesError Message: Preflight: Overset text (1 characters)Device: macOSTemporary fix: Creating a new document (however the bug returns)Measures taken: Updated, quit and reinstalled the application, changed GPU/Zoom Performance and Display Performance settings, resized frames, changed text alignment and size, changed preview settings  Is there anything else I could try or do? Thank you!

Hello all,I am trying to initialize our old, but still very usable CS6, via the offline Activation feature on our new OS10.10.5 Mac.But am having no luck.The Request Code option doesn't show up after installing the software. (I have a legal serial number) Is it still possible to get a code from Adobe?How can I get our CS6 to work? 

Just uploaded to Indesign 21.0. I copied over MakeBookletScript 2016 but the script is not working. Does anyone know how to fix it or where I can download another script that works? Screen shot attached. Thx.

Depuis la version 2026, lors du déplacement je n'ai plus le viseur qui indiquait le centre de l'objet déplacé.Quelqu'un saurait-il si il est possible de réactiver cette foncitonnalité ?

Not really an issue but I'm just curious – on a Mac when using Cmd+alt+c to fit frame to content in a text box, it usually only adjusts the height of the box to fit the text, but very occasionally it will change the width of the box as well to fit to the longest line of text – anyone know why this happens?

I have made my backgrounds from Photoshop (CMYK colour profile) and imported the .psd file on indesign.When I export my design from Indesign as a jpg it washes out the colour while when I export it in PDF it is fine. I have attached a screenshot of the banner design (on the left is from how it views on PDF and on the right, if I import it as an image into Figma (showing it for client reviews)I mean my only concern is that I don't get the washed out colour when they print it out and I am assuming that since it looks fine on PDF, i hope it is fine when printed? And is it because I am showing a CMYK file in jpeg and imported into a web platform that it looks washed out?I have tried to test it out a bunch of times:exporting the actual background from Photoshop as a jpeg and importing it into Powerpoint, Figma to see how it looks like and it kept the rich dark colourBut when I do add the photoshop backgrounds on InDesign and export as jpeg - colour washes out.****Thank you! Hi everyone,I’m experiencing an issue with Adobe InDesign 21.0 and XML mapping. After opening my file in the new version, my tags — which previously had assigned colors in an earlier InDesign version — still appear with their colors in the Tags panel, but the colors no longer display in the layout after mapping.In the Structure panel, I can see the mapped text and image areas, but they appear as simple text fields without the colored tags that would help me identify them easily. This makes it difficult to verify which tags are applied where. I even tried reassigning new colors to the tags, but nothing changed, the colors still don’t show in the layout.Has anyone found a way to fix it?Thanks for any guidance!

J'ai réalisé une présentation d’un livre avec photos et textes conçue avec Adobe InDesign 21.0 version 2025 avec : 1 Page de couverture seule, Puis des pages se faisant facePuis, j’ai exporté la maquette en pdf. J’ai Adobe Acrobat DC gratuit Quand j’ouvre mon document sur mon ordinateur, la maquette apparait comme elle est sur Indesign : page de couverture seule, puis pages se faisant face. Mon mari a un mac, macOS Sonoma 14.5 et  Adobe Acrobat DC.Quand il ouvre  le pdf  de la maquette sur son ordinateur, les pages se décalent : la page de couverture fait face à la page 1, ect.Est-ce que quelqu'un aurait une idée sur la cause du problème ? C'est très gênant, car je n'ose pas envoyer la maquette à des éditeurs, ne sachant pas comment le pdf apparaitra...Meric de votre aide  

Lately since the the most recent Indesign update, I've been having a lot of trouble getting the application to actually close. I can still click everything else and run files and make edits etc, but when I want to close the application nothing happens. I also turned on "Reset preferences on quit" but that didn't really help. Anyone know how to fix this? 

Hello everyone,I hope you’re doing well.I previously had an InDesign file saved in my Adobe Cloud storage, but now I can’t find it anymore — not even in the deleted files or trash folder. I’ve already checked my Creative Cloud web files, the Sync folder, and the Deleted section, but the file is still missing.Is there any way to recover or locate a lost cloud file that does not appear in the trash?Any guidance or support would be greatly appreciated.Thank you in advance.

 I am trying to insert a blank Frame into my table so I can fake wrap the text inside the table around the image which is in the main frame (there are several tables, as well as an introductory text, so I cannot just insert the image into the table). The blank frame gets ignored by the first line of text. With the other images I put the anchor inside the heading, so it didn't matter, but the is no 0 Line inside the table.

Un message d’erreur s’affiche :« La cause possible de l’échec est présente sur la planche avec le numéro de page "X" » Le numéro de page indiqué varie selon le fichier ouvert, et je n’ai pas d’autres infos.Même avec un fichier vierge, le même message d’erreur apparaît.J’ai effectué la mise à jour 2026 et le problème est survenu depuis. J’imagine ça peut être lié ?Serait-il possible d’en savoir plus svp ? Merci
