Just an FYI: FontAgent Pro 10.2.5 isn't playing nice with InDesign 20.5.MacBook Pro (Intel) running Ventura 13.7.6After I updated to this version of FontAgent Pro, InDesign crashed when I tried to open a file—any file—on my local drive.I did some troubleshooting and discovered that removing the FontAgent.InDesignPlugin from the InDesign plug-ins folder solves the problem. This plug-in enables auto-activation of fonts, which I never use anyway.
Hello,A bug was found: When inserting Forced Line Break inside a Right to Left paragraph direction, although the text direction is defined as "Default", it becomes a "Left to Right" and change the paragraph direction to Left to Right without showing it. When selecting it, it still shows that the mark is in default direction and that the paragraph direction is Right to left although it is not. 1. In Indesign 2024, Middle Eastern Version with Hebrew definitions (Right to Left paragraph direction, Language), open a new document, draw a right to left text box and fill it with place holder text. 2. Place text curser in the middle of a paragraph the has punctuation mark at the end of it for better seeing the problem. Insert a Forced Line Break (Type>Insert Break Character>Forced Line Break. 3. Result: Paragraph becomes a Left-To-Right direction (Punctuation mark appears to left of the paragraph) but it will not show on paragraph panel. 4. Override: Select the "
Mac mini M4 (macOS Sequoia 15.3.1) with InDesign CC24, and the problem happens mainly when:Copying a file from server → Desktop → sometimes shows error, second attempt works.Copying a file from Desktop → Local drive → no error.Sometimes the file becomes corrupted or InDesign quits unexpectedly.
Once I created a document and pasted an image. Then I wanted to set a shadow effect to this image and saw this issue:So how can I fix this?
I've tried googling, but I can't find an answer that doesn't involve a time-sinking endevour with the hyperlinks panel.I have a Product Catalog InDesign file with some 200 products. Each product page is going to have a QR code for the print version, and a clickable link for the digital version. QR code was relatively easy. Created the image frame on the parent page, then dropped the corresponding qr code onto each product page. What I can't figure out is how to copy/paste a hyperlink into a text box. InDesign keeps stripping out the hyperlink and only pasting the text. (For reference, I'm copying out of an Excel spreadhseet). What is the secret to copy/pasting a hyperlink (the equivalent of Click me <a href="https://myurl.com">Click me</a>into a textbox in InDesign and have it keep both the link url & link text?(I looked into data merge, but it doesn't look like it would apply to this, since all of the text boxes are in a single document, not creating mult
Hi, i have inserted an illustrator (.AI) file in my indesign document by file-place. So good so far. Worked fine.... now i edited the illustrator file and saved it (command s) - now indesign tells me to "modified doubleclick to update" - which is normal - BUT as i want to update it it shows me "import failed" or "failed to open pdf file" As this didn't work, I also tried just to place the edited file (.AI) over file-place again but also this doesn't work- it says " failed to open the pdf file." Im not sure whats im doing wrong??? Thanks alot
Hello users, I was working, last few days, with Font Sarabun. Overnight this font doen not appear anymore. How is this possible?
I have an odd thing happening a couple times per day at work where when I go to save an InDesign file, I get the beach ball spinning for 4-6 minutes then the error that the file cannot be saved in the current location. I will then save the file to my desktop so I don't lose my work. The file that is left on the server in the location that I cannot save is now locked and cannot be moved, renamed or deleted. At this point I have to have one of our I.T. staff delete the file. I am working in InDesign 2025 20.5, on a Mac Mini, Apple M4 Pro chip, Sequoia 15.6.1. This does not happen with every file, only once or twice per day. Anyone experiencing this as well and have a work around/solution?
I want to change a single page view to facing pages. When I go to document setup and choose facing pages I get single pages which are shifted but not facing (see above). What must I do to correct this? Thanks, Ira Glunts
Hi all, there's a new issue with my InDesing. In advanced mode and only when files are open, there's a grey frame in the upper right corner of my monitor, that will not vanish. It stays exactly there when moving the position of each file.I deinstalled and installed InDesign, but it's still there. The support couldn't help, even not with their access to my computer.Has anybody an idea how to delete this frame? Thanks
Bonjour à tous, j'ai acheté la formule InDEsign tout à l'heure, mais le creative cloud ne me propose pas l'installation pour le moment. Faut-il attendre que la commande soit validée pour pouvoir télécharger et installer ?Merci par avance.Antony
Hello — We create in-store shelf simulations based on our design proposals.(Proposals are created in Illustrator, but the overall simulation is done in InDesign). Obviously, depending on products category, the shelf is more or less wide and varies according to the creation phase we are working on.NB. I'm aware that InDesign may not be the best software to do such things, but it's what they use here at my work 😉 My question:- - - - - - - - - - -To avoid having to add/delete pages each time,is there a way to use JavaScript to create an InDesign JavaScript that, when called/launched, checks the page size and increases/decreases its length depending on the length of the shelf (numbers of objects/Rectangle Frames even there is an overflow)? Thank you for any feedback.Enjoy your day… - Dimitri
I have 300 pages for a book scanned by Acrobat Pro into editable text and divided into chapter files. I opened a chapter (.pdf) in InDesign and now have an .indd document. My problem is figurining a way to format the document. I thought I could format it by selecting all of the text and text frames then formatting all the pages at once then returning to correct the headers, page numbering, chapter heading, etc. This apparently is not the way to go. What is the best way to format this .indd file? Also I downloaded this template. How can I place my chapter txt from the pdf into this template? And will I be able to change all the settings if desired. Thanks, Ira Glunts
Hello,I'm encountering a persistent issue when exporting a PDF from an InDesign file, adding comments to the PDF, and then importing those comments back into the InDesign document. The problem is that on some pages, the imported comments are misaligned and do not appear in the position they were placed in the PDF file. From my observations, this seems to occur more frequently on odd-numbered pages.I have performed several tests, including:Generating different types of PDFs (Print, Interactive).Testing across multiple versions of InDesign.Extensively searching Adobe forums.Based on my research in the forums, this appears to be a common, uncorrected bug, even in the most recent versions. Here are some threads discussing the issue:Link 1: https://community.adobe.com/t5/indesign-discussions/pdf-comments-not-aligning/td-p/10110055Link 2: https://indesign.uservoice.com/forums/601180-adobe-indesign-bugs/category/349486-pdf-commentsLink 3: https://community.adobe.com/t5/indesign-discussions/pdf
I have to create a PDF with a lot of linking to different sections in the document. When trying to link to bookmarks within the file I keep getting an error that reads, Cannot open the document "DBTmp218563218461526187" you may not have permission or the document may already be open. It then removes any of the links that were alreadys set up and working. It doesn't seem to effect roll over interactivity. I wondered if it was an issue with bookmarks generated by the TOC so I did them manually but it's still struggling. I tried uninstalling InDesign but unfortunately the error is still coming up. I'm looking for a fix as Interacticity is integral to this document.
i encountered this error since indesign ver. 19, until now, im using indesign ver. 20.5im using (see pic below)can't eloborate because im not english speaking, just see my screen recordhttps://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1nSTE2_GeF507Iy7L58LDYss4Fgt92vP_?usp=sharingthe placed file in pages are ordinary .tif fileim just want to address this error, and improve the performance of InDesign.thank you!
When I use InDesign and other adobe programs I like it when I click on <Z> for zoom and just click and drag to zoom in/out. Sometimes when I am working in a program, it almost like the program forgets how this function work... It changes the mechanism, so that when I zoom I select an area, and it zooms in to fit the screen to that area. I don't really like this way of zooming. Is there any way to fix this when I am working in a project? why is this happening? Thanks
Can I use InDesign on both a Mac and a PC to open a document seamlessly? I'm the author of a very long, complex book (215 pages, full color, 625 MB when open). I've been a PC user all my life, but InDesign has never really behaved on any PC I've ever used, even a modern one (Ryzen-7, 128 GB, 4TB SSD). It crashes often, damages the file's contents in the process and so on. I would like to try using a Mac for production of this work, but having never used a Mac in my life other than opening my wife's Macbook Pro, I'm a bit hesitant. I'm of the impression that the document should open cleanly on either platform, but what about file hierarchies? My document is stored in Dropbox. Will Indesign be able to see the correct paths to the document on both a Mac's file system and the PC's? I want to be able to open it on either computer, depending on where I'm working, and have the document load without error and save without problems, then when I'm on the other computer (not at the same
Lately, when I open an InDesign document, some of the images either disappear or appear in scrambled form. I have to relink them. Sometimes they appear briefly then disappear. Most of them have been in this document with problems for years. Just yesterday, I Exported Book For Print, so all the images are in the Links Folder. What can I do? <Title renamed by moderator>
I often edit books with variable formatting in InDesign, and I'm missing one feature that would be very useful: Story Style. Publishers typically want paragraph first lines indented by a variable amount, but they ask me not to indent the first paragraph of each section. Currently, I have to do this manually. Are the developers considering this feature for future updates?
On some pages running header current style not working and previous header name coming
I have created an interactive PDF of a brochure in InDesign with email links, links to YouTube videos and links to phone numbers. They work when I open the PDF on my laptop. However, when I open them in my mobile, no links work. I have an IOS phone and my colleague has tried opening the same PDF on his Android phone and they don't work on that either. We've also tried removing the links from InDesign creating links in Acrobat, but the same happens - they open on a laptop but not on a mobile. This brochure we expect will be mostly used on mobile as it's for people in hospital, so it's essential to get the links working. Please can you help! Many thanks
I've been having this issue with unwanted hyphens for at least a couple years. They appear when copy/pasting from Word, but not every time or even half the time. They appear even when hyphenation is turned off in InDesign. They appear where a hyphen would properly occur if the word were split. They don't correspond to any breaks in the Word document. If I paste text and the hyphens appear, I have to re-copy and re-paste the same text and to get rid of the hyphens.
Is anyone else having trouble with the "Share for Review" function? I have been recieving edits on a file for over two months now, and every single time I "Update Content" on the review link, InDesign crashes. It does save my work and eventually, my file updates on the link, but it's super frustrating. My file is only 20mb, and I have tons of cloud storage left. Does anyone have a fix?
I have a text document imported into InDesign in which one imported hyperlink remains red in the hyperlink panel, indicates "URL not available," and will not open the link. There are several other imported links that work properly. I can open Edit Hyperlink in the Hyperlink Panel and copy the link, paste it into my web browser, and it will open the link. I can also insert the link into a Word document and it will work. I have tried deleting the link from the Hperlink Panel and recreating it, both by typing it in and by copying and pasting the address from the web browser, when it opens the link. I have even tried inserting the link as the sole content of a Word document, then placing that word document into InDesign; that still only produces the "URL not available" message. From the other similar posts, my guess is that this is some sort of firewall or login requirement by the website I am trying to link to, but I am curious as to why only InDesign seems to encounter it? And I woul
