Help..!My LR catalog lrcat OF MANY YEARS (it's much too large, I'm preparing to start annual catalogs, but I realized this). My LR catalog is being stored on my MacBook's iCloud. I just realized. How do I accurately and safely move this catalog for future use when needed? (My photos within the catalog are stored on external hard drives). Thank you for the guidance! Amanda M.

I got on Lightroom Classic to edit some photos, and well I had to use the AI generative remove to remove a part of my image. So like normal I selected it and clicked remove, after that it gave me an error message that said "Generative Remove Failed, We've encountered an issue and can't complete your request at this time. Please try again later." does anyone know how to fix this?
I'm not sure what happened here, but I have a collection that has the same photos in it twice - but for each pair, one of them is "missing." I was going to find the missing photo by navigating to it in File Explorer, but doing so produced the error message shown below. I want to get rid of the missing photo for each pair. Can I do that in an automated fashion somehow? Many thanks.
Hi,I have just bought the canon eos 6D mark II, opting for the newer model, thinking it would make things easier, but having tried to set up tethered shooting it seems that this model is not supported yet by lightroom cc - does anyone know of any ways to get around this please?Or anyone know of plans to add this to the list of models that can be tethered??Inexperienced lightroom user & photographer so anything to make things easier would be much appreciated thanks v much!
Hello, I use this catalog between a Macbook Air and a Windows PC. I have a Nikon 7Z II, and in the manual it states that the camera will make new folders at 5k items (viewable) in a folder. I know this is large but I figure I'll keep it that way over the 1k folder limit of the DSLRs they've had. I find that sometimes my Lightroom classic, only on the MacBook Air, will not find all files to import. When I went to first report this the folder has less than 4000 files in them, but my last import seemed to be missing files. I did another import, and I always make it show the dialog so I can select build smart preview, and it told me there were 11 files (this number also seems low but I'd take it) While it sorts through the list of files to import, it eventually reaches zero files to import. Before this I had a misconfigured folder with over 6k of files in them. MacOS had a hard time opening the folder, and Lightroom
When I scale Lightroom Classic shows gray and white squares around the photos instead of white. Help me please! Thank you!
Good morning,In Lrc - I've noticed a strange behaviour a few times recently importing two different versions of a file, both from the same day (May 25th in this case). Every morning I have my filter set up so that I see all the photos I ever took on this day. So the filter on top is set to May, then for the 'Day' column I have it set for 26 because today is the 26th, and the year column is set to all the years.Yesterday I worked with a portraint created yesterday - I made a larger version in Ps and brought it back to Lrc. That modified file shows for May 25 - but the original file shows for May 26, a day later. This happened yesterday so the original file magically shifted to the next day. Both are in the May 25th folder, both have metadata for May 25th.Why would the modified file be the correct day but the original show as the day after?I see no evidence of a metadata issue.
I recently noticed that when I was editing a batch of photos, and was deleting files from the batch I no longer wanted to edit, my trash can was remaining empty. I start testing this and began deleting photos from lightroom using the "delete from disk" option that specifies photos would end up not only out of my lightroom catalogue but in the trash. Again, nothing appeared in the trash, even after refreshing finder and resetting my mac. The files are also gone from the orginal folders they were in. I uninstalled lightroom classic, reinstalled, and even opened a new catalogue and still experienced the same thing. I've never noticed this until now and wanted to see if anyone had a fix? I'd hate to accidentally select the wrong option and then boom! There goes the file for good.
I have been doing wildlife photography for many years. But new to LRC not sure how to add all my past images to lightroom for viewing and possible editing. I have them in folders by Year/Month/Day. Also not sure if it's advantagous to create a catalog called Wildlife Photography and then add key words and collections. Can someone explain this to me or point me to a video that covers these topics? Using the latest LRC just fyi. Thanks Mike
Can't use lightroom classic as can't access catalog. I am getting the following error message:On windows 10. All software including lightroom classic appears current and updated. Tech note does not appear to relate to my issue and did not resolve the problem
Today after long editing session I noticed that my PC slowed down noticable. I looked up into task manager and saw that Lightroom uses 13GB of RAM + 12GB usage from Photoshop. I thought it isn't that much, because I have 64GB of RAM, but it's usage was at 98%. After I closed Photoshop RAM usage dropped by 15GB and after closing Lightroom usage dropped by 33GB! That's huge amount of RAM usage and it was 20GB more than task manager was showing next to Lightroom process. Is this a bug?LR Classic 13.1Windows 11 Proi7-13700KRTX 408064GB RAM

Lighroom Classic randomly stops exporting. I'll be exporting single images one moment, and then it simply wohn't export the next. The export bar appears but makes no progress. I'm exporting to a folder on my desktop, so nothing fancy. I've even tried exporting directly to my desktop to no avail. I can find the RAW file when I go to "Show in finder", so I know it's there. I can open it, so it's not corrupt. I've updated Lightroom and also reset the settings. I've also reset my computer. I've also made sure there's enough room on my computer to export this photo. What else can I try?
The Help windows displaying keyboard shortcuts still have many errors. While a large number were fixed in LR 12.1, many were not, and some new errors were introduced. The Any Shortcut plugin's Analyze > Analyze All TranslatedStrings Files generates the file "errors.txt" (attached) containing all these errors. It should be run before every new LR release. The plugin's option Correct Help Keys In TranslatedStrings Files will automatically fix all of the errors. I've summarized the errors below, with explanations for what's gone wrong and how to fix them. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- The help keys for shortcuts containing Delete (Mac) / Backspace (Win) need to be specially encoded -- they should refer to Delete or the localized version of Delete (if there is one). LR will automatically translate that to Backspace (or the localized version of Backspace) on Win. Many instances of help keys incorrectly conta
HiWhen you over crop an image you have transparent sections outside the image. when you export these as JPG, understandably it fills that with a colour (as JPG cant do transparent), but it always uses white. Is there an option to make the default another colour, ie black. saves extra work thanks
Hello, I've seen this problem posted on several forums going back a few years with little resolve. After creating a mask on a photo and after so many edits to the mask, the program begins to lag and freeze so badly that it becomes unusable. 10-30 seconds for each mouse click to register. Click-and-drag functions, like using a mask brush, stop registering entirely. I’m running on Windows 11 PC. My primary catalog and photos are saved on an internal SSD. Backup is on an external SSD. My computer is about 1 year old (see SYSTEM INFO below.) The problem is with Lightroom Classic only, all other software and OS otherwise run perfectly. This problem occurs with all image types, RAW or JPG. Catalog is backed up/optimized/integrity tested multiple times per week. Here’s what I’ve tried: - Disable GPU acceleration in LRC (no difference.) - Update NVidia drivers. - Switch between Studio and Game Ready Nvidia drivers. - Run chkdsk from cmd prompt on all drives. - Lower desktop
I use One Drive to backup all the Lrc catalogues plus the recent year's of photos. One Drive is also my backup for all other files on the computer.I mistakedly blocked One Drive whilst editing. I have signed in again outside of Lr but One Drive seems to be trying to sych everything again - a process which will take days and might be wasting storage space. How do I re-establish things?
I am a long time Adobe user and primarily use the Photography Bundle. All the apps work but suddenly 2 days ago LRC died while using it. No response it trying to open it again. How do I install a new copy when the computer things it is stll there? The version was the latest as of 5/24/2025Windows 10, last version. All other Adobe apps are functioning normally. I went to the Adobe website to see if just downloading a new current version would work, but nothing started. If I can replace the failed version, would I lose the setting data of older edited files?LRC does not begin to load, as if the applicaion is not present, no error messagesThanks for any suggestions!Stan
Hi It would be really handy to have the vertical adjusment slider active when you pick middle middle, because selecting bottom middle and moving it up with the vertical slider doesnt go up high enough. Anyone else would find this handy? thanks
I do real estate photography and a new work flow proces in my company has discovered a strange behaviour/bug in Lightroom Classic which causes a rather irritating time waste. I use Windows 11, LrC 14.3.1 and Camera Raw 17.3.1.We shoot 3 brackets -3, 0, +3 - I use Fujifilm so I get Fujifilm raw fileformat RAF.The proces is as follows for delivery of DNG-HDR to post production. 1. Convert the bracketed RAW files to DNG resized to 3000x2000px. The converted DNG files retains the lens correction. (this can be done in stand alone camera raw or through LrC - it makes no difference to the end result).2. Import resized DNG to LrC, autostack and merge the resized DNG to DNG-HDR. The problem now is that the DNG-HDR that is created, has lost the lens corrections and it cannot be (re)applied throught LrC. So there is vignetting and barrel distortion visible in the final. My colleagues using Canon, Sony or Nikon do not experience this problem. I and my colleagues that use fujifilm al
File > Export doesn't remember the previous setting of Resize To Fit when Image Format is DNG. To reproduce on LR 14.3.1 / Mac OS 15.5: 1. Select any photo. 2. Do File > Export, with the the File Settings options Image Format: DNG and Use Lossy Compression, and the Image Sizing option Resize To Fit: Long Edge, 3000 pixels: 3. Do File > Export again, and observe that Resize To Fit is unchecked.
Hi,I need a way to remove all or specific metadata that Lightroom puts into the photos first time they are read, specific data that tells LR not to read or import those photos again.I know there are a few metadata handling standalone apps out there, but I don't know if any of them can do this, and preferably all photos in one specific folder.I can't start from scratch creating a brand new catalog as I have over 30000 photos spanning over 20 years and a very complex folder structure and advanced indexing of keywords. The problem is that a certain folder of photos, photos taken last year that I put on a temp external disk, won't get imported no matter what I try. They will show up in import, but only as grey icons, not as greyed out photos. Starting the import just gets me to a stalled process that when I stop it after a minute or after an hour just informes me that it couldn't find the photos. I've moved to other location on same disk (of course won't work) and moved them to the computer
I ask because a friend who is learning to use LRC sent me a screenshot of a message saying "425 photos were converted to DNG." He had just imported Sony camera raw files into LRC. For years, I have been using the DNG converter to convert my camera files BEFORE importing them into LRC. From the screenshot my friend sent, it appears that LRC is doing the conversion automatically. Is this possible? I am attaching my friend's screenshot:
