I've seen myself in need of some kind of "smart folder" feature.Pretty much the same (or similar) behavior as Smart Objects, but where a clone folder (slave folder, if you will) will mimic the master folder. Unlike a Smart Object, there's no need to go inside the file, make the changes, save it, go back to the main document and, if more changes are needed, do the same thing again. In certain scenarios this can be a workflow killer. Also, Smart Objects have two issues in my opinion:1 - Their dimensions are 99% of the time NOT the same as the document (unless we create a workaround, which is almost never the case) so we never really see how the changes are affecting the document itself in real time2 - Once the Smart Object is created, it's not that simple to rename its name (not the layer's name, but the Smart Objet's name itself, the .psb file). There's a workaround, but it's extra clicks and it kills time. So having a Smart Folder would allow the user to add/delete/modify elements
Need to have the bility to save colors swatches
PEN TOOLI make a shape with the pen tool, I then make a smaller shape on top and subtract it from the larger shape underneath, thus creating a hole.I still want to be able to manipulate the shape, I dont want to rasterize it, I want to keep as a shape. But i want to fill the 'hole' inside with flat colour. There is currently no way of doing this, only making the colour inside as a separate layer. But I want to be able to manipulate the whole selection still. Please photoshop, can you work on this feature?Thank youSally
I always found it odd that you have to double click on the Color Fill adjustment layer to change the color. It would be more convenient if you could change the color of the fill using a color picker that shows up in the properties panel, similar to Hue/Saturation. Seems like the behavior should be more consistent? Nothing earth-shattering, just a simple quality of life thing.
I often ask myself year after year, what could photoshop be possibly adding as features in order to keep pushing the limits of its system requirements. Here I am with a pretty high end gaming laptop having problems running something that years ago I could run on a junk computer that someone Frankensteined out of used parts. Why now, do I have to STRUGGLE to keep using photoshop with a laptop that can handle games like Total War Three Kingdoms on high graphic settings? What I would like to ask the Photoshop team to do, although they've created this seemingly pointless void to request this within, is that they stop pushing the system requirements up. Just keep it compatible, is that so complicated? Lean and mean is better and if you want a special software for the highest end graphics artists to use and the highest possible levels, then maybe another edition with even more features than we've had before should be added. For the standard Adobe Photoshop use, it's unnecessary to h
It would be wildly useful if when doing an export (to .jpg, etc, not the quick export to PNG) that it would remember where you last save an export from that project. If it hasn't been exported previously, for it to default to where the .psd file (or source file) is located. This should be saved within the .psd file, since it requires you to save after doing the export. The quick export to PNG goes to the same location as the source file and that is great. An alternate option would be have a button on the export screen to go to source location.
I often use nested groups to organise layers and content within the layers panel. example:- group:navigation bargroup: button1layer: button1 shapegroup: button2layer: button2 shapegroup: button3layer: button3 shape when using the Auto Select option "Group" the upper most parent group is selected but it would be useful for me to have options "parent group"(upper most group) and "sibling group" (this items group) or something with similar wording. so I can auto select just the indiviual button group instead of the navigation bar group. thank you
Illustrator and InDesign have supported this OpenType feature for many years, but Photoshop has not. This is very annoying for us type designers, because this limits our work, it also makes the user experience inconsistent among these 3 important Adobe softwares. Hello,Wouldn't it be great if we'd be able to scale animation keys on several layers at once, with the alt key ?It works fine for one layer, but of course most of my animation are images that are "linked" together with animated opacity, so if I scale one, I lose synchronicity and I have to do it all over again.
There is a Content aware Fill (which works better and better in every update!)There is a Content aware Move tool (which cuts a selected fragment and places it into another area of the same layer). What about making a Content aware PASTE to work with different layers? For fast compositing without precise manual masking. Would be great! Practically, it's similar to the Content aware Move tool, but should work between different layers. So, you've already got this functionality inside, just add it to the Paste menu as a new command.
For some reason Photoshop does not allow to create a monochrome pattern of a selection in a Layer Mask. But once in a while I like to use a pattern for e.g. an adjustment, or alpha. Please make this work. ps 'Topics help users find your post. Please select one or more topics.' But none of the topics applies - I just slected all, because choosing is mandatory.
Can we please have ALL saved files added to the recent files list?Or even better, a "recently saved" files list?Quite often I start a new file using the copy buffer... then I "save as", or "export as" or "save" as a filename.I think I've saved it to My Documents, or the Dekstop ( Win 10 ) but it's not there, because it actually went somewhere else - one of the last folders I used, maybe weeks agon.I then search my entire computer, network drives and external drives looking for the image - sometimes I never find it, or maybe years later(!)If this feature already exists, then I apologise and look forward to being called a n00b and shown where it is. ;o)Thanks!
It would be very useful to be able to reverse the gradient from within the gradient editor rather than selecting your gradient in the editor and then backing out of the editor and reversing the gradient in the properties panel. If all the editing functions were within the editor there would be much less back and forth between editor and properties panel and the process would be more efficient. As it is, I'll choose a gradient from the editor, back out of the editor and go to the properties panel, reverse the gradient, reject the gradient, reopen the editor, reopen the folder I was using, choose another gradient and repeat until I find the right one. None of this back and forth would be necessary if I could do it all from within the editor. Thanks.
I've been using Photoshop since 1993, 8 hours a day, as a medical illustrator. But for many years it has not been evolivng as quickly as it could be, compared to the other available applications. Toe be sure, one of the extraordinary enhancement, which is to be able to grab items from the layer "touched" by the mouse click, is wonderful. But other areas are frustratingly unevolved and cost as much as an hour a day in slow responsiveness. A. Please allow a super-rapid way to select several basic kinds of brush tools that are used most of the time. For me, these are the, 1. "hard edged" brush on top 2. "hard edged" brush in behind mode 3. "hard edged" brush on top without pressure sensitivity 4. "hard edged" brush behind without pressure sensitivity 3. "softest edged brush with presure sensitivity" 4. "softest edged brush with sensitivity and multiplifying
In a landscape, I frequently use rectangular Select with a Feather size to adjust foreground in relation to sky. However, the default is for the feather to vignette the whole rectangle including the canvas bounds. In a prior post I learned to go to Select>Modify>Apply effect to canvas bounds. (Odd wording, because it implies the default is for an effect not to apply to the canvas bounds unless it is checked; yet in my experience it's the oppposite. It applies by default even though when I get to the setting, it's unchecked!) 1. If the "Apply effect" setting is unchecked by default, the default feather effect (and others?) should match. For my needs, I prefer that not applying it be the default. Having it apply by default only makes sense if the user wants to vignette the selection. 2.This setting is so elemental that it should not be buried. When the selection tool is turned on, "Apply effect to canvas bounds" should be on the same settings line as the feather size slid
I'd love to see Filter layers like those Krita and Afinity Photo have. Workig not over smart objects but rather whatever beneath like adjustment layers.I like height-to-normal map filter layer in Krita for example where you could select a height channel source . Would be super cool if we could have it in PS working over pattern preview. Or Emboss filter working that way. Please bring it from Krita here or let us use SBSAR from Substance Designer for that. I still consider Photoshop a much more convenient tool in many regards over all those Substance new ones. Please let it be having some value for CG artists
A problem I have all the time:I am searching for hours to find the perfect brush to paint or draw something in Photoshop. But when I come back to the project a few days later, it is almost impossible to find out which brush I used (unless I renamed it somehow, but with a lot of projects you quickly loose track and it gets a bit ridiculous). Also while working, only by clicking a few other brushes to try out something, you loose your brush super quickly due to the very limited "brush history bar". It becomes especially annoying, when working on different projects at the same time, going back and forth, because the brush history ist not linked to specific projects. Ideas:- The possibility to use the picker tool on illustrations (etc) to find out which brush was used (please!)- A better way to organize and "remember" brushes as favourites or in project files for later. - The used brushes are linked to the specific project file you are working on.
Hi Everybody, I've told myself "I don't hate Figma, I really don't..." at the time I was lying. Just flat out lying to myself. It felt like using two left hands. The truth is that Figma is a solid layout tool with the interactive advantage of being socially web-based. That being said it is not a design/production tool, it is a layout tool similar to InDesign (or probably even more like Adobe XD). Can you design in it? Yes. However, the "design" is layout formatted so prototype/flowchart-based wireframes can be discussed/edited. It is not designed for storyboards. Let me be clear on this. Artboards are NOT storyboards. Artboards are a layout schema for reviewing creative. Storyboards (especially for complex animations) are compositions made in a stacked fashion like gels or a flipbook. That way when you go from frame to frame the elements are seamless and don't jitter or pixel shift. Even in just using Photoshop alone without Figma with artboards, I've ru
If you ever put a decimal value in any field in Photoshop and the decimal separator happens to be not the one you have as a default in your OS, Photoshop shows an error message and forces you to follow the settings you have on your system. This is very annoying, since both InDesign and Illustrator handle it just fine, you can type in either a comma or a period. I'm using two keyboard layouts on a Mac, and sometimes it's easier for me to type a comma rather than a period, but it's just a nightmare when I have to be aware that in Photoshop only one symbol works, while in InDesign and Illustrator I don't have to worry about it.
it's a small thing but it would be very useful. every time I use YouTube I have to give the graphics of the avatar banners etc. it would be very useful if Adobe implemented some templates with the measures already made. such as the YouTube banner, a template with the measures plus the blocked guidelines that show the central part (the one that will be seen everywhere smartphone, TV, computer, etc. etc.). the size of the avatar etc. etc. Delke pre-settings WITHOUT graphics where we then compose our graphics. Whenever I have to do graphics for social networks I always have to put the measures ok etc. it is really boring. I am a customer who pays regularly and kindly I would like this option: template without graphics for social media: YouTube, Instagram etc.
Hi there -- Finding the tool I'm looking for on the toolbar takes longer than it needs to. All the icons are tiny and they look the same. They are not in any order that I can see to make them easier to find. Can you make them text instead, or give us the option to view alphabetically ordered text rather than icons? Same thing for the control bar at the top. I have no idea what those symbols mean. I think most graphics people nowadays have big monitors, so there is plenty of room for the text. Scott Williams
this could be a suggestion, but for now it's a problem that's driving me crazy : how do you turn off that damn "bird's eye view" option? It's activating when i hit the space bar at certain magnifications and jumps out and disorients me. it's so annoying it's not true. it may be a good tool when someone specifically requests to use it, but otherwise we should either have the option to disable it, or disable it for the Space bar only. Seriously, this "feature" makes me seethe, it totally ruins my productivity as i'm set working at a particular area/magnification then instead of being able to scroll w/ the Space bar as we always did, the view jumps out jarringly and sometimes seems to change the tool i'm working w/ too. PLEASE, give us an option to disable it. TIA.
Please roll-back to JPEG quality percentage slider within Export As dialog. Many people want to export to an exact filesize rather than just rough presets. It's a usability downgrade for professional users.
Would like ability to save tool type, brush size, opacity, flow, and select “Apply to All Layers” (or current layer, etc.) in an action. For example, when retouching and going through various actions (e.g. dodge and burn, frequency separation, even skin tone, blemish removal, etc.) I still have to manually apply various tool settings. [This even occurs when selecting “Allow Tool Recording” in actions menu]. Selecting these parameters and readjusting the flow and opacity for each retouching stage take up the most time in my workflow. They also require me to transition from editing with my stylus to typing on the keyboard and using a mouse (and back again). Would like ability to play an action that ends up with a specific tool, brush size, opacity, flow, and layer application. This would allow me to simply click an action button with my stylus and then get right to work on editing, with all proper parameters set for each stage of my retouching workflow.&
Adobe, could you please create ONE application instead of: Photoshop, Illustrator and inDesign? Or at least Photoshop and Illustrator. Thank you!
