Photoshop

I cannot for the life of me get a precise path from a bitmap/pixel selection. I make a selection [object selection tool] (typical of a packshot with white background).I then go go path > make work path from selection.but the selection becomes awful, the curves become bended and any straight lines becomes curvy. Is there another way? 

How can I get quick selection back to the regular dotted line?

Hi I am on a PC using windows 11pro (but had the same issue on my preview pv on windows10).I have calibrated my 2 monitors with the SyderX Elite software and sensor and they each have their own colorprofile:My dell: Dell01my Wacom: Wacom Generic PnP-2-1 The problem is that photoshop can't seem to handle 2 different colorspaces at the same time.I have duplicated my photoshop window so that it shows on both screen. When I have selected the dell profile the colors are good on the dell but not on the wacom and the reverse is also true.It is very problematic because I need my 2 screens to check the colors and I use screen capture very often. This means that if I screencapture an image in photoshop on the wacom while photoshop is configured with the dell colorspace, the colors are off when I paste it again, even if I paste it in the same file on the wacom. I don't have this problem if I screencapture the UI or anything else. Is there a way to tell photoshop to use this co

How can I search for layers in Photoshop? Every "how-to" video shows a search bar at the top of the layers panel but I can't see that in Photoshop 2025.

Never seen this before, any ideas?  I do notice the new layer indents to the left of the adjument layers above. Usallly they have been flush.  Otherwise clueless, never had issue before, thanks. 

For some installation check I need to know where my UXP-Plugin is stored, because I need to read the manifest.json to get the version-number.On my PC, I found it at C:\Users\[YourUsername]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\UXP\Plugins\External However, on other PCs (namely on a customer PC), this path is empty, but the Plugin is installed inC:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\UXP\Plugins\External What are the rules for CC to decide on what place it should be installed?   

In the latest update, the ability to "Save As" a jpg is gone, for whatever reason. Now the only way to save a jpg from a PSD file is to us Export As. Even with quality set to high, it always exports the jpg as 72dpi, and there doesn't seem to be a way to specify what dpi you want the jpg to be saved at. Now every time I export a jpg, I have to open that jpg in Photoshop again and convert it to 300dpi, which is so much added time. Please tell me I'm missing something and this isn't just the way it is now!

I'm doing a graphic design and for some reason I keep getting extra white space around my photoshop artboard when exporting. I've tried everything but the issue persists. There's no extra content outside of the canvas and there's nothing to suggest the canvas is larger than the artboard itself.  Hi everyone,I'm currently using Adobe Photoshop, but I'm facing an issue where the toolbar is completely missing from my workspace. I've tried the following solutions, but none of them worked:1. Went to *Edit > Toolbar* and tried to customize settings.2. Checked *Preferences > Toolbar* to ensure everything is configured properly.3. Selected *Window > Workspace > Essentials (Default)* and tried other workspaces as well.4. Reset the toolbar to default settings by clicking *Restore Defaults* in the Customize Toolbar window.5. Closed and restarted Photoshop, also tried resetting Photoshop preferences by holding down *Ctrl+Alt+Shift* (Windows) while starting Photoshop.6. Checked for updates and ensured I'm running the latest version of Photoshop.Despite these attempts, the toolbar is still not appearing. coulda sworn I've done this in the past with success but now I'm having trouble: I'm working 4K DPX in Photoshop, which insists on saving the modified frames as Cineon. When I try to put the .cin frames back into the image sequence for Resolve or Premiere, it leaves them offilne, no longer recognizes just those frames. The modified frames have the exact names as the source DPX, except with the .con suffix. If I change .cin to .dpx it doesn't help. MacOS 10.12 - Photoshop 2022 - Resolve17 - Premiere 2025 Anybody know what I'm doing wrong or have a suggestion?TIA,-gax

Hi, I wanted to create a Realistic Photocopy Effect in Photoshop by using a Stamp and grain filter. I followed a YouTube tutorial but my stamp effect is looking so weird on every image.So just for testing, I copied the image that was used in the tutorial and applied the same settings in grain and stamp filter in my Photoshop but with the same image and same settings still, my final effect did not look normal.  Can anybody let me know, what the issue is and how to fix that? Currently running Photoshop 26.2.0 on Win11.Several years ago I created an Action to modify a dng file & then save it as a jpg in another folder. I recently upgraded my computer & the folder structure has been changed, so the Save command in the Action needs to be modified. Unfortunately, I can no longer recall how to recreate the Save command in the Action. The attachment contains the Save command (outlined in red) that I wish to replicate so that I can revise the path to the desired folder. Note that the path does not include any filename because the intent is to retain the name of the source dng file when saving it as a jpg.I tried the "Record Again…" & "Insert Menu Item…" options in the Actions menu. These were not successful because they required that a specific filename be inserted before proceeding to record the Save step.Any guidance would be gratefully appreciated.

For example:I have two groups, Group A (contains layers A1 A2 A3),Group B (contains layers B1 B2 B3)Now I have grouped group A and group B into group C again.I want A1 A2 A3 to be linked relationships, unless manually, they are always locked in group A.Also, B1 B2 B3 as well.Also A ,B are always locked in C.Now this is not possible, you may not upset the linking relationships during frequent manipulation, but the containment relationships are quickly misplaced.I would hope that, unless you artificially unlock it, the containment relationships, up and down, of groups or layers within a cluster are unchanged. Thank you.dub.

In the past, if I had a power failure while editing, when I reopened PS the image/s I was working on would come back up as a recovered file. Several times lately this has happened and when I reopen PS the image edit is just gone. Did Adobe remove this feature, has it been moved and renamed? What's going on with this?

Every time I update Photoshop it refuses to open. And everytime I try a lot of things, and finally - ofte after 2-3 hours - I manage to get it working again. I use a little special setup, wich might be the issue. I am on a fast new ASUS i7 Laptop, with a RTX4050 Nvidia GPU with 32 GB RAM, SSD HDD, latest drivers and Windows 11 etc. All Adobe software runs smoothly on this machine - exceot Photoshop will not start at all. It just thinmks a little for 2-4 secs and stops. In jobmanager it shows that Photoshop is loaded, but also a Adobe Crash Processor. If I try start Photoshop fx 3 times after each other all three shows up in jobmanager. Its just hanging/crashing and nothing happens. At all!I use two external monitors - besides the laptops own - so 3 monitors in all. I first managed to solve the issue by forcing Photoshop to use the Nvidia GPU. I have also solved it sometimes by run as Administrator or making it start in compatible mode etc. I havew tried disconmnecting ex

Hi,I am in a process of making product images for a client with rulers to provide scale, a bit like this (not my image, but similar use case)All the images are same size and they consist two layers: top layer with a photo of the product (trimmed and w/ transparency) and a background layer with the rulers. However, now the client wants me to make all the products same size, meaning that the image size would vary. I don´t quite understand why they would want that, but whatever.The problem is that I already have >1000 images so I would really like to automate this process. Is there a way how I could resize the top layer to specific pixel size and have background layer automatically resized relative to the top. Or in other words, resize the image to a size where the top layer would be X pixels wide.

Documentaion is minimal at best , but... Why is there no document.activeLayer property in .PSJS?  Is it because there can be more than one selected active layer? In which case which one is zero indexed? Or have the Adobe developers just decided to make everything even more difficult?   

Hello, you can drag or place vertical and horizontal guides on your canvas via new guide > guides, is it also possible to place guides on your canvas at a certain angle that you determine yourself?

Could you please advise what is wrong in my attempt to select part of image split by the edge in Select and Mask tool?I'm really marking time because every action doesn't make an edge perfect.  It's just an edge between hand and background.

Photoshop Version: CC 2018 19.1.5 ReleaseOS: Windows 10 22H2 19045.5487 Hi! When I use the Rotation Tool, the brush stroke becomes discontinuous. The effect is most pronounced when rotated 45 degrees. (Clearly in the video) This doesn't happen in other graphics editors, so it's not a problem with the Wacom Intuos tablet I'm drawing on.
