Photoshop

When using the Select and Mask option after the selection tool, any changes to properties are not being shown in the preview. Moving the sliders (radius, smooth, feather, contrast, shift edge) causes no change to happen on the preview. It is only when I select OK and am back to the layer that I can see the changes from moving those sliders. I updated to the most recent Photoshop 12 days ago, and this issue just started this week. Is anyone else having this issue? I have restarted Photoshop multiple times with no change. I am on a Mac running Sonoma 14.6.1 with an AMD Radeon Pro 5700 8 GB graphics. Using the 25.11.0 Photoshop release.

Hello! I wanted to edit a JPG file but photoshop just opens like no file is there (its black). I tried to open it in another editing software and there the file did open. Thus, I wanted to ask if somebody knows how to fix this.  

I'm using PS 25.11 and learnt something today.Generative Expand (when exporting images from LR Classic 13.5) won't allow you to use Generative Expand if you've used HDR mode in LR. Instead, go back to LR, make a virtual copy of the image, use the Develop module to bring it back to SD mode (so 16 bit) and then export to PS and all will work fine.I found this because I could generatively expand some of my LR images but not others. It took a while, but I finally clicked as to the HDR issue.I'm on Windows. I assume this is true for macOS, but can't test that.

Previously it was easy to save a photo to my desktop on my mac computer. But now it takes many steps in the menu to save to the desktop. Any suiggestions?

I am using Photoshop 2024 (v25.11) under macOS 13.6.9 on an Intel iMac with an AMD Graphics Card. The clouds filter is producing unexpected results and error messages. I can also duplicate this error on a Windows 11 system running the same version of Photoshop. Something has changed in the lastest release of the Clouds filter that comes with Photoshop 2024 (aka v25.x). I have a number of Photoshop actions which rely on the Clouds filter and they have all been failing with a message saying: "Could not complete the command because the selected area is empty." They ran without issue under previous versions of Photoshop (2023, 2022, 2021 all tested recently) On a lark, I decided to try copying the 2023 version of the Clouds filter and replacing the newer one that came with Photoshop 2024. Much to my amazement, it worked perfectly and all the actions that relied on that filter are working again. Can anybody enighten me as to what changed in the update

While working on a scanned photograph as a layered TIFF in Photoshop, a large purple band suddenly appeared on the file. Hiding/showing layers does nothing to remove it--only when I hide the Camera Raw Filter layer does it change, but the band just becomes larger. Is this a file corruption or something else? Incredibly frustrating as I've been working on this image for a while, and I can't find a way to remove it. Using Photoshop 2024 in Sonoma 14.6.1.

There have been many issues when using a drawing tablet with Adobe applications on older iMacs that have recently been updated to the new Sonoma OS.  When the drawing tablet is already in use and connected, many Adobe applications do not always register that the device is connected. Photoshop will allow the stylist to be used but suddenly begin to lag, as if a user has two different mouses attempting to be used simultaneously. This is most noticeable when using the Stamped and Healing Brush Tools. The user can correct the issue by restarting Photoshop or refreshing the drawing tablet by opening up the actual tablet software to re-establish a connection. If lagging continues within secondary tool windows, such as Camera RAW, it may cause Photoshop to freeze. Photoshop must be Forced to Quit and repeat the steps to correct the issue. Hi! I've used droplets for many years and rely on them for work. For awhile now I've been getting the "Droplet couldn't communicate with Photoshop" error. I believe this started in September 2023 after the "upgrade" to Photoshop 25.0. I tried reinstalling fresh, and tried setting everything to "run as administrator" as per a past discussion thread, unfortunately neither solution is workable.The fix seems to be that I have to have version 24.7.4 installed on my Dell PC running Windows 11 Pro. When I have 24.7.4 AND 25.11 installed, droplets will run on 25.11. As of 25.11, I no longer have to even open 24.7.4. But if I REMOVE 24.7.4, droplets stop working. They begin working again immediately after I reinstall 24.7.4, even without opening the program. To me this means there's a crucial file or bit of code missing in 25.11 and you just need to migrate it over. Please compare the two versions and figure out which file or permission the presence of 24.7.4 allows, as it's annoying to have tw

The exposure adjustment layer produces incorrect results when the image has a linear (gamma 1.0) color profile. The effect of adjusting exposure or gamma does not match the menu/adjustments/exposure or the adjustment layer used in 32 bit mode. A gamma adjustment:The result with the adjustment layer has an un-even jump in the gradient:

A layer is moved while painting with brush, if while the paint stroke is being drawn I press Ctrl key (on Windows). Note, that I never have Ctrl pressed while clicking (and/or holding) the mouse to switch to the move tool. Probably the keyboard modifier key event is processed out of order, or the brush stroke code tests for Ctrl being pressed in real time, not at the time the stroke was scheduled. Steps to reproduce:1. Create a big RGB, 16-bit document (4240x6059), no background, one empty layer2. Create a new layer, paint on something to notice layer shifts (for example the text "test")3. Duplicate that layer4. Seems like my PSD-File just turned black. I wanted to open my drawing and continue after bout 40hours of progress, and now the file just contains one layer - and its black!I don't know what to do or how to fix it. Already sent the file to a friend to check if its my PC that has to get fixed, but the file seems to be destroyed. Any help?

Hi,I'm using Photoshop 25.11.0 and noticed that since the update, when I save an image it sometimes does not save the original  file name but saves it by the name of my son from all things. I have no idea where it is pulling this info up from and it's always the same name when it does this. It's happened about half a dozen times and I'm not sure whether it happens as  'Save' or 'Save As', but every once in awhile it does this. It seems to occur when it's being saved as a .psd file.  Anything I can do to clear this up?Thank you.

While working on locked Background, when i use move tool the locked layer messages showing as well as the ruler guide is freezes on screen when i drag multiple times, the multiple guides creating and freezing on screen and they are not going until i close photoshop. iam using photoshop stable version 25.11 and Beta version the problem occuring in both versions please help

I recently purchased a new license and installed the latest version of the software. However, I've encountered a bug with the transformation controls. They sometimes work when clicked, but other times they don't respond at all. Additionally, I'm unable to clear the history of the transformation controls, no matter what I try. The screen fills with lines, and previously, when I clicked on a single layer, only that layer would show the transformation controls. Now, everything is outlined, and these lines cannot be removed.  

This shifted pixel effect is only happening in the middle of the screen. If I drag the line a litte above or below, it starts looking normal again. It's not my monitor's issue, both Cs6 and krita works fine. 

Every time i want to Generate on a Image, the loading is stuck until i cancel it. However, on colored backrounds (included white and black), it works.

The "Make Layer Visibility Changes Undoable" option in the History panel options no longer works in Photoshop 2024 and the in the current Beta.So you can't do multiple undos without affecting the layer opacity values. Mac os Sonoma.

Help! None of my quick selection brushes: patch tool, Quick selection, any of my brush tools, blemish removal etc will work. I'm not sure what to do to fix it. I would really appreciate any help to fix this issue! I need to complete editing a current project asap! TIA!

I have googled every possible variation of this problem and tried every fix for this problem, none of them worked. I have tried reinstalling photoshop, deleting everything even remotely related to photohop in the appdata, deleting custom fonts, restarting the computer, updating graphics and computer, and holding every possible combination of alt, ctrl and shift while trying to launch in administrator mode. The result is always the same. It opens the splash image, gets to loading preferences or brushes, spikes RAM usage to every last byte of RAM I have, freezes the computer, then crashes.   And no i'm not running it on a potato i'm running it on an Alienware Aurora 4090, it should have more than enough power to handle this and Photoshop ran perfectly fine for months. Then just today it crashed and has never started up again.Photoshop version 25.11   Help.

I have updated photoshop from v25.9.1 to v25.11.I had no problem with v25.9.1.Now when I use the command "Open", either through the Menu File/Open or the Open button on the welcom page, to load a image into photoshop, photoshop crashes systematicallay.If I load phothosp with shift key pressed (to avoid any external modules to be loaded) Open command works well. If I drag and drop an image directly into phoshop windows, the image is loaded into photoshop.Any syggestion to solve the problem ?

Hello, after a lot of wasted time, I’ve come to learn that many people have been having issues with ICC profiles being applied to prints for years. Specifically, it seems that unless you allow printers to handle color management and ICC profile application through the MacOS printer function, ICC profiles are completely broken. Making it impossible to allow Photoshop, Lightroom, Capture One, etc to manage colors while printing. Is there a known work around for this? It seems this has been an issue since at least Big Sur. Will this ever be fixed? Thanks

My wacom tablet works in photoshop. But every few minutes it will "stop" working. Instead of being able to brush as normal, it simply leaves a dot in the spot where I touched down my pen when trying to brush. It does this very randomly. To reset this behaviour I can click on the touchpad of my laptop (Razorblade, 13th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-13800H 2.50 GHz13th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-13800H 2.50 GHz, 32.0 GB RAM) and the pen will work as normal as again.It's infuriating. It disrupts my workflow for so many times a day. But I can still work. I've checked the drivers of wacom. I've worked on older and newer and the newest drivers. I've checked the "Pen & windows ink", and turned all options off so it is not interfering with my wacom tablet.The problem continues to exist. Please help. I'm turning insane here.
