I am confused about purchasing a good Graphics Card to use with Premiere, Photoshop and Lightroom. The YouTube & Google links mainly speak of GPU's for Gaming. Im not interested in Gaming. Is the Quadro or Gefore GTX better for Adobe apps? Help me decide which budget gpu's is best... I have a Dell Optiplex 990 MT with an Intel i7 2600, 1 TB ssd.

I recently purchased a CUK ROG Strix Scar GL703GE Gamers Notebook (Intel Core i7-8750H, 32GB DDR4 RAM, 500GB NVMe SSD + 1TB, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti 4GB, 17.3" FHD 120Hz, Windows 10) Gaming Laptop Computer hoping for improved performance with Illustrator and future support of Premiere. However, I have been surprised that it has not been achieved. What do you really need as far as a graphics card to optimize for Illustrator and Premiere performance?
HelloI know that this topic might be already on the table for many times but I'm really in trouble with my computer and premiere pro. The playback is very choppy although I'm already using proxy files (1280x720). When I press the playback button it all starts smooth but after 3-4 seconds it gets choppy and another 3seconds later it seems that 90% of frames being dropped. I know my computer is not the strongest. I actually bought it for Lightroom and Photoshop editing but now with my drone I also wanted to create short movies. My Configuration:CPU: i5 6600k (Overclocked 4,4GHz)RAM: 16GB DDR4 2400MhzGPU: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1050ti 4GBSystem Disk: Samsung 850 EVO 500GB (System + Proxy Files)Workspace Disk: Seagate Barracuda 3TB (Footage, Audio, Export files)When Playback and checking the performance monitor I clearly see that CPU is at its maximum of all four cores at 100%, RAM is 50-70% (13GB assigned), Disk 0 is 1-2% and Disk 1 is 10-30%, GPU 40-50%Is really my CPU the bottleneck? I have two Dell U2415 monitors that are wide-gamut. I currently use a non-10bit card. I am building a PC and wondering if I should go with a MSI - GeForce GTX 1060 6GB 6 GB GAMING X Video Card or get something like a Quadro P2000. Any thoughts?
I'm going to purchase a storage to be used as cache only, and I'm wondering what would make more sense: more focus on sequential write or burst write? So in what "pattern" is the cache data written? Many small chunks all the time, or rather one big at once? How does Adobe exactly operate in this/handle it? And I'm well aware that it probably doesn't matter as much anyways, but I still want to know it, just out of pure curiosity. So thanks for all replies and answers
I have been using LR Classic CC on a 2011 iMac with only 8 GB of ram and I am creating Raw files with a 45 megapixel camera that size up to 50-70mb. It takes my Mac to a crawl. I hear from most folks that 32GB is recommended if I want to upgrade but Apple folks are telling me that for still photos 16GB should be plenty. I do not do video files and have no plan to. Is 16GB enough or should I stick to the 32GB I hear is best?Thx Pat
I was tired of being hardware bound by my 4 core, 12GB machine. So I built a new one using an i9-7960X CPU running 32 cores at 3.5GHz, 128GB RAM, NVIDIA Quadro P5000, two M.2 and three "regular" SSD drives. This should last me a lifetime , and be more than PPCC uses for a while. But neither PPCC nor Media Encoder seem to use much of the resources. Now with PPCC, my CPU utilization typically runs well below 20%, and on export it typically runs about 20% - 30%, although sometimes on an export it does peg at 100%. Memory utilization is typically below 10% no matter what. GPU usage, with CUDA enabled, runs below 3%, always. My goal was real time playback with effects, and reduced export speed. Between my old and new PC, the export time for a two minute video dropped from 10 hours to 55 minutes, but even at 55 minutes, the PC's resources utilization was low. The same clip today with a LUT is running at 2 hours, witn 23% CPU, 12% RAM and 1% GPU.On real
I have to recommend specs for a video editing machine to my office. Mainly Premier and After Effects to produce AJ+ style videos. Time is of absolute essence for a media company.I know thus far (through this forum) that these programs can't utilize multi CPU setups, and too many cores are overkill too. So for similar clock speed and core counts (8 core, 4.5Ghz Turbo) will I be better off with W series Xeons or I9s?Price is no consideration, and 32 GB of RAM will probably be enough. Machine needs to be future proof. Thanks in advance
Hello and happy to find you.My name is Razvan and I am a drone enthusiast. I was working with a Mavic Air and editing 4K footage from this little drone with Premiere Pro cc on a Macbook Pro Mid2015 (i7-2.2Ghz, 16GB RAM, Iris Pro). But things are not so smooth and I want to upgrade the machine. Basically I don't want to wait 10 minutes to do a Warp Stab. for example for a 30 sec 4k video. So, taking on consideration that I will be flying the new Mavic 2 Pro that has also H.265 I plan to buy a new laptop and most probably will not be a Macbook, because of the bugdet limitation.I was thinking to buy a new laptop with config like:CPU: i7-8750HRAM: 16GBSSD:512GPU: GTX1050ti (or with some bugder increase go to ->GTX1060)What do you think about this config? It will be enough?Tnx,Razvan
I'm planning to get a WD My Cloud Pro 4100 as a RAID 10 server for my Premiere and After Effects media.https://www.wd.com/en-gb/products/network-attached-storage/my-cloud-pr4100.html I'll also be getting 4 x 8TB drives, and I'm considering between WD Red and Red Pro options.I'm concerned that the speed of the non-pro is 5400 RPM vs 7200 for the pro version, though I understand that the read speed will increase due to the RAID configuration.I'm also concerned about noise from the pro drives as the unit will be installed in my bedroom, with occasional overnight renders! Can anyone advise?
Hello!I'm looking for some advice and thoughts on how Adobe Premiere Pro and After Affects perform with recent AMD processors compared to Intel processors. It was my understanding that in the past, Intel was the way to go -- AMD processors apparently lacked certain instruction sets that were useful in Premiere and After Affects? However, in reading some recent threads on this hardware forum, I've gotten the impression that the AMD Ryzen processors -- while perhaps not quite as good as the best Intel processors -- are significantly better than previous generation AMD processors. Generally speaking, can the most recent AMD processors now be used with solid results in Premiere and After Affects? Or is Intel still the way to go?If you have any general guidelines (or thoughts about the latest round of AMD and Intel processors that are in the process of being announced), I would appreciate it! Thanks!
i’m going back to college for video game developing and i was wondering if these specs were good enough to handle premiere pro: 8th Generation Intel® Core™ i7-8750H ProcessorWindows 10 Pro 64-bit English16GB 2x8GB DDR4-2666MHz,M.2 256GB 2280 PCIe Solid State Drive
So I was thinking of getting a desktop computer for my dorm as right now I am using an ASUS RoG 6751JL for all of my Adobe work.ROG G751JL | ROG - Republic Of Gamers | ASUS USAThe computer I was looking to get is this ASUS Zen AiO: https://www.bestbuy.com/site/asus-zen-aio-23-8-touch-screen-all-in-one-intel-core-i7-8gb-memory-1tb-hard-drive-128gb-solid-state-drive-icicle-silver/6297693.p?skuId=6297693It says that it has both SSD and HDD RAM, and I have heard that you can make Adobe Programs run through the SSD instead of the HDD to load quicker.Would this be a good buy or should I go with something like an iMac?
Hi there,I've looked over some of the designs as Puget Systems to get some ideas on a build, but have a few questions. I was surprised to see them suggesting the GTX 1070 over the 1080, which makes me question some of my other specs I was planning. I have the hard drives (2 SSDs and an m.2 drive), the case (Phanteks full tower), PSU, and motherboard (Asus Prime X299 Deluxe), so I would like to build a system with those components rather than a pre-built system. We shoot 4K and edit HD as well as 4K (h.264 from GH5), but often use low-res proxies. I have no plans for RED footage. I use Neat Video noise removal often and color either in Davinci or with Lumetri in Premiere Pro. We use After Effects as much as Premiere Pro. We'll be using a simple monitor via hdmi.CPU. I was looking at the i9 7940X, but I saw in a post here that neither Premiere Pro nor AE will utilize it for the money, and suggested the 9900K, which is much cheaper. I like the idea
I recently purchased a GPU and have not been able to get hardware acceleration to work in Premiere Pro -- I bought a Radeon RX 580 -- I should have plenty of VRAM so I'm not sure why I'm strugglingI found the following thread FAQ: Why is my GPU not available for Mercury Play... -- I have tried all the steps listed and also am working through all of the steps in the corresponding photoshop thread Troubleshoot Photoshop graphics processor (GPU) a... and have tried nearly everything with the exception of flipping "high performance" on the switchable graphics mode which seems to be a feature gone in the latest AMD drivers (radeon software version 18.7.1)Can anyone help me?Thanks!
Before I shoot myself in the foot, I'd like to find a good tutorial or other documentation on the best way to use my three computers. I had been getting by with just a Macbook but recently acquired an iMac and rediscovered my iPad. I have Photoshop CC and Lightroom Classic CC installed on both the iMac and the Macbook, and Lightroom CC (Mobile) on the iPad. I also have the 20GB version of Creative Cloud and about 170GB worth of RAW image files, along with about 15GB of catalog. What I'd like to be able to do is this:1. Use my iPad and my Macbook when away from home to finally do what I should have done long ago: cull, keyword, and in general better organize my 8000-image catalog. Full-on editing will generally be limited to the iMac, due to the screen size.2. On the road, I'd like to limit my risk of loss by bringing only my iPad. I believe there is provision for using the iPad for capturing images and doing some initial editing for
Hey, I upgraded to 2019 about a month ago (I know i shouldnt have) The reason why i updated was that i was having alot of bugs in mocha for ae inside the 2018. Ever since i upgraded everything has been slow(I mainly use PP, AE and Audition) I contacted support earlier this week with all of my issues and they said they my 980ti isnt supported by cc 2019 i asked alot of question and didnt get a response from them so i asked for an escalation, they said the offline team will contact me in 24-48 hours,. its been over 70 hours now and i still havent heard back from anyone and im still facing all the same issues. I am currently rendering a 5 secound 4k clip from AE (its just a green screen removal and a still image background) it is taking about 4hours and 40 minutes not to mention that my previews are just as slow its not just the render. I am trying to get help and figure out if i can fix this so my questions are.Is there a workaround to cc 2019 not supporting my GPU?is support for my GPU
Hello,I have a iMac 5k, 27in, Late 2015, 4 Ghz i7 with 24gb of memory, 512 SSD, and AMD Radeon R9 M395X.I am beginning post on a 4K doc and am trying to figure out the most economical HDD set-up that will allow me to playback and edit in 4K if possible. I have around 2TB of material, so editing from the internal SSD is not an option, unless I use proxies (haven't tested how much space they'll require).Recommendations for an optimal HDD set-up on a budget? 2TB SSD in a Thunderbolt or USB enclosure (B&H has 2TB Samsung 860 on sale right now ... would that do the trick?)? Building an array (RAID 5?). If the array is the recommended route, I could really use recs on how to build an affordable set-up (Do I need to go with OWC ($$$)? Is there a way to do this that doesn't set me back for *well* over $1000 with the enclosure + drives?)Or... do I generate proxies and throw those on my internal SSD if I have room (again, haven't tested how much space proxies will take) or one of my 4TB OWC
Yesterday I bought the base model 15" MacBook Pro with 256gb of storage. I did a quick edit today and so far it is a great computer. Usually I work on one project and after I finished the project I transfer the files to a 2tb external hard drive. But after two days with the new MacBook, I only have 150gb left. This is only the OS, Adobe programs and the media files of one project. I am now thinking of either: 1: I return my Mac and get one with more storage (512gb). But storage at Apple is really expensive and 512gb is getting full quickly too. OR2. Get an external SSD, for example a 1tb Samsung T5, and edit larger projects from the external ssd. This is a cheaper solution and I read online that it is not a problem to use an external hard drive to edit from. But on the other hand, the Internal SSD of my Mac is very very fast. I also like this solution, since it keeps my Mac clean. Do I notice any speed difference with an external ssd compared to the internal Mac SSD? What would you do?
I just upgraded my GPU from the Ati Radeon HD 7850 2GB that came with my PC, to a Sapphire AMD Radeon NITRO+ RX 580 8GB card. The card works absolutely fine, I downloaded the latest drivers for it and tested it on various 3D applications. But now I've just discovered that Premiere Pro and Media Encoder won't start up. I just get the startup screen, but nothing happens, it just hangs there without loading any libraries until after a few minutes the system tells me it's stopped responding. The same problem is also affecting Audition, but Photoshop starts fine.I am on Windows 7 64bit.I tried uninstalling Premiere (including preferences) from Creative Cloud and re-installing. No change. I also tried rolling back to a previous version (12.1.1) but still no change.Interestingly, if I install the 2017 version of Premiere, it works fine, but it loads more slowly than ever before. If I go to the GPU selection screen, there's no GPU acceleration option, everything is greyed out apart from Engine So
Approximate Purchase Date: ASAP subject to hard decision making and as these are £300 over budget and right before Christmas it may have to wait a bit, was hoping to get this done for Balck Friday /Cyber Monday Follwing the requested format....Budget Range: (In UK so pounds) £2750 - £3000 was the ideal, especailly with Christmas and no cash after next week till 21st dec comming up. If Possible want it back down. but may hvae to go up to this figure.System Usage from Most to Least Important: CAD for modelling, 3d Printing and visual, Editing, Rendering, Encoding, 3d Animation, Graphics, Podcasting, whilst watching downloaded tv shows, lots open at once usually 2 screens plus, maybe some games but tend to avoid as then dont get other stuff done.Software to include: Rhino with V-ray Rendering and various addon ons, Solidworks with Key Shot Rendering... So, I'm trying to put the program window on my secondary monitor and only have the timeline show on my main monitor. The computer I'm using for this is an Asus laptop with an Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-6700HQ CPU with 2.60GHz. I could use the help, thanks.
Hi! I'm going to get a new work computer early next year and I'll have some say in what I'll need out out of it. I don't know what my budget will be but I'll only need to give out IT department guidelines on what I need (I don't need to tell them exactly what parts I want).I typically work with software and website design/workflows and mostly use Adobe XD to create wireframes and mockups for apps and websites. I create my assets with Illustrator (usually icons) and Photoshop (pictures for web). Usually the files are pretty small around 5-10 mb (usually the Adobe XD files have tons of layers). But the Adobe applications crash on me a lot (a few times every day) and the whole computer lags when I have a few instances of them open at the same time.I currently have an older i7 with 4 cores (I don't remember what gen), 16GB of RAM and a SSD with enough storage, some intel integrated GPU. We use Windows 10 at work and I do need to use windows specific developer tools such as Visual Studio so
Have read conflicts so just looking for more info.. If you could only choose 1, would you place the cache or the original media files on the Nvme drive?
