i notice that a lot of online resellers sell dell monitors way cheaper.is this always the way? or is it just old models that dell is wanting to get rid of?specifically the higher end ones from $700-2000.a new model just came out at $1600 that i am keen on and was wondering if resellers were about to get it for hundreds less?or is it typically a year or so before that happens?

Even though I'm not connected via Thunderbolt, or working off an SSD, I figured the fast G-Raids wouldn't be a problem but the light on whichever drive is being referenced is blinking when I start to drop frames.They are also brand new production drives so I don't thin

I've been getting into videography (just on a hobby level) and desperately need to update my storage. Right now I have a 250GB SSD (OS/programs) and a 1TB WD Blue on my desktop. No external HDDs - nothing.Now I want to make it clear that I am trying to upgrade my storage on a budget. I'd like to keep this under $400-$500. Cheaper the better (of course I don't want to buy complete junk though).I've been researching for several days now and I am starting to beat a dead horse here ha. I originally thought I would just get a SATA dock/WD Reds and simply archive my video footage and store the WD Reds in my safe. I would then backup with BackBlaze. The more I have read, the more I have realized that storing bare drives on the shelf may or may not be a very reliable solution. Also, BackBlaze requires external hard drives to be hooked up at least every 30 days otherwise it will assume the data is gone and delete it from their cloud. I'm thinking of buying a laptop, for basic day to day use and also for editing videos in Adobe Premiere pro and photoshopping.Is this laptop up for the task by its specifications:Acer Aspire 5 15,6", Intel® Core™ i5-8250U, 8 GB DDR4 RAM, 256 GB SSDNX.GT0ED.002 is the Acer productcode.

I have a pretty beefy PC with a 5960X, 32GB RAM and 3x 980ti GPUs (AE only uses 1 though). When using AE it felt laggy and struggled when trying to preview a project. I tried it on my mid-2015 Macbook Pro and to my surprise AE felt more responsive and previewed much faster. I rang tech support and he made the following claims that surprised me:AE will never use more than 16GB RAM when working on a project so adding 64GB won't make a differenceAE isn't as quick/optimised on Windows as it is on MacThe issues with AE on Windows will be resolved in the next updateAre these true? I've seen tests online where people use 128GB RAM and see speed improvements but would that only affect the final render? Is AE just not as good on a PC as it is on a Mac? Although the previews are still ever so slightly slower compared to the Macbook, it's less laggy now (the audio is out of sync at the start though) after he went into Preferences > Memory and changed it to 19.9GB for Adobe applications and 12G

I just built a new system and I'd like some advice on the best way to use my SSD drives for video editing, and for Adobe programs across the board. Raw video footage and photos are stored on a Synology DiskStation DS1817+.  In addition to the video, I deal with hundreds of thousands of photos that are edited in Lightroom, but stored on the NAS.For video editing on my old system I would copy the video footage from the NAS to the SSD and then import it into Première Pro thinking it would speed things up but I actually didn't notice a ton of difference, so I just used the SSD's for cache and scratch disks.My system details are below:AMD Threadripper 2950X 16 Core (Overclocked to 4.2GHz)Motherboard - ASUS ROG STRIXRAM - 64GB Gskill DDR4 3200MHz (4 x 16GB)GPU - AMD FirePro W9100 with 32GB VRAM I actually have 2 of these but I put both in the system, so 64GB of VRAM, and didn't see any performance improvement in CineBench, so it doesn't seem worth dealing with the heat they createHard D

I just bought a power-house PC specifically for Premiere Pro and After Effects, and was expecting extremely fast render times. However, not only does Premiere Pro and After Effects take over 30 seconds to boot (my old computer booted them in less than 10 seconds), but the rendering time seems the same, if not worse. Since I don’t do a ton of editing and do this simply as a hobby I am thinking I would like to archive my videos/projects by using a SATA dock (aka toaster oven) and some desktop HDs (WD Blue, Red, etc). I’ve been told to stay away from Seagate.I am trying determine if I should go with WD Blues (4TB drives) or WD Reds (a bit more expensive). I’ve seen a lot of folks using WD Blues (what we’re the WD Greens) for this purpose. Keep in mind this is to simply store old videos/projects. These will sit on the shelf and will only be pulled to archive more videos/projects.Thanks.

Hi all!I am in need of a new editing laptop for Premiere Pro. I have narrowed my choices between the Razer Blade 15 and the MacBook Pro. I often use Premiere Pro for editing videos that are typically 20 to 30 minute 1080p h.264 files. These videos contain multiple layers of videos (like side-by-side comparisons), titles and simple animations. On my current base model 2017 MacBook Pro (running 12.1.2), these videos take 3 hours to export. Please help me decide which laptop will have faster export times compared to my 2017 MBP. Checking my resources CPU usage is about only 50-60%.GPU and RAM are fine.I was wondering what my bottleneck is? Would a seperate SSD drive help performance? If so would a simple 850 pro SSD help? Im really hoping tha someone can help me here with advice.My problem is timeline performance in premiere 2017. Recently I build a new rig, invested some money, but Im not happy with my results. Rendering is fine, but the timeline problems are very noticable. For example. Im editing the Mavic Air 4k 30fps footage in my premiere and when Im starting to apply adjustment layers my timeline performace starts to get very laggy. Just finished my new PC build with an i7-7280x on a gigabyte Aorus x299 gaming 7 board. I got everything up and running, loaded Creative Cloud and all my apps, did a test fire up on Premiere (which worked fast and great) added a few more components and sealed up the box. Now upon starting Premiere, I get BSOD with a bar code for troubleshooting. Any idea what would cause Premiere to crash the OS??
