Hi everyone, I'm just a novice texture artist and recently I wanted to try to make a simple enough wallpaper texture, but when I got to the moment when I needed to put these shells on top of each other like in the photo, I couldn't do it. I've been digging into Time Sampler for a long time, but I haven't found any settings that could do this. I also searched on the Internet but also did not find it. Could you help to make this effect? I also tried to select individual rows of shells to move them, but nothing worked for me.Thank you in advance!
Hi everyone.I'm trying to make an effect and I can't get the outer borders of several lines to create a blur effect taking into account the direction of the line. With the directional blur or directional distance nodes I can apply a blur but with a global direction. Is there a way to make each of the segments have a blur based on its own tangent? Thanks
We had so much to share that we decided to jump in early with the Community Digest for February 2025. This month: Anna Koroleva adds a touch of eerie atmosphere in Substance 3D Assets, a look at the advantages for motion design provided by native 3D integration in After Effects, a whole caboodle of 3D educational resources, and more. And away we goooo! Featured Artist Beyond the Event Horizon: a collection of 3D materials by Anna Koroleva Our Featured Artist this month is freelance 3D environment/material artist Anna Koroleva. The Substance 3D Assets library is once again adding Signature Collections by guest artists to its impressive library of resources. For the first such collection of 2025, Anna Koroleva has created Beyond the Event Horizon, a series of sci-fi-themed materials that are at once natural and organic yet architectural, non-organic matter that feels like it can grow and evolve, as well as deck plating and bulkhead materials that no derelict sp
I need to make a following thing in substance designer - let's say I have an image with four areas overlapping each other Red, Purple, Blue and Yellow for example. Is it possible to compare all neighbouring colors in the image and draw a Black border line between Red and Yellow neighbouring colors, and to draw a Green border line between Blue and Purple colors? Something like this:
When adding a tilt to my tiles using the Flood Fill To Gradient node or a simple gradient, strange artifacts appear in my material. I've tested other versions of Substance Designer, adjusted the Flood Fill settings, made changes to my material, and still haven't found a solution. It's a bit frustrating to reach this point and not be able to continue because this error always appears. I would really appreciate any advice you can give me.
Hi! Im having dificulties creating a tiling material. Yesterday I've updated to the latest version of SD and it seems its broken things along the way.- In tile samplers/ generators i now have to change Texture sampling to Bilinear as to not leave edges around. (see imgs)- It gets more difficult with other nodes though where i cant change the texture sampling. Eg.: Edge bleed with Blur HQ. (see img) Could it be related to SDs Mip maps? Thanks for the help!A)B)

Does anyone know what identifier goes on IMAGE INPUT node for normals to be recognized instantly inside SBS Painter once you bake your maps?Inside Painter, I have managed to properly "link" the baked maps to the material I made inside designer, so once I do my bakes inside painter the maps automatically adds to their respective maps inputs of my material but thats not the case for the baked normals mapThough I can manually add the map, is kind of tedious to add it every single time I add the material so would be greatly appreciated if anyone knows the proper identifier for baked normals map.
I see dds is a file format substance could quickly export and import .. Much quicker than any other file type. What picture browser could show them ? Not Adobe bridge it sseems? A sort of addon to Windows maybe?
Hi! I'm working on a substance graph. All of a sudden, my node bar or node palette (whatever the name is) is missing from the window. A.PNG is the current toolbar and B is the original toolbar. How can I bring back all the node icons to the toolbar? Thank you in advance!

I am creating a filter for SubstancePainter. This filter applies a gradient to each stroke of paint. The strokes are broken apart with Flood Fill, and the gradient is applied with Flood Fill to Gradient, but the strokes across the UVs are separate parts.I tried a Position bake texture, but I could not get rid of the joints. Is there a better way to do this?
A new update, Designer 14.1.0, has been released today to enhance your daily use of the tool and also introduces a few additions to the Spline and Path node set. The most noticeable node is the Scatter Splines on Splines node, which distributes splines along a parent spline, offering options similar to those of a regular scatter node. In terms of your experience in Designer, you'll benefit from new alignment tools to maintain a clean and readable graph, the copy/paste parameters feature to carry over parameters from one node to another, the color sampler tool in the 2D view to pin a specific pixel and track its value across multiple nodes, and several improvements to the search toolbar. Take a look at the release notes for this latest version of Designer to learn more.
Hello, How do I go about exporting through scripting while being able to control export settings and what output nodes get exported? sd.tools.export.exportSDGraphOutputs This function is not adequate. I'm unclear on how to disable certain nodes of import and export. This function doesn't seem to help: current_graph.setOutputNode(o, False) How come exportSDGraphOutputs doesn't set the names of the exported textures correctly? It just labels them "{graphname}_output_0.png, {graphname}_output_1.png, etc".How do I configure exporting through a python script similar to how the "Export outputs" window lets you when you right click on a graph and select "Export outputs as bitmaps".Essentially, I'd like a one button export script that lets me specify:Filename per output textureColorspace per textureResolution per textureWhat output nodes are exportedFiletypeCheers
I'm trying to transform a shape without tiling it. I tried using a Transformation 2D node, but, the node tiles the shape. The node has a 'Tiling Mode' field, but it is disabled and I can't find any way of enabling it. I tried changing different fields on the node, tried different types of inputs, even restarted Substance Designer. So this is either a really weird bug, or I need to set something up differently. The field does not have any sort of tooltip that explains why it's disabled. So I have no idea whats going on here. Thanks for the help.

Hey guys, have mercy on me. I enjoy making models and using Substance Painter, but I don't make materials/textures. I went to Free PBR and got all their texture sets, but it's a folder with a bunch of maps. I want to convert them to a material for ease (a .SBSAR file?). I have a free trial of Designer and permanent Substance Painter. Is there anyway to do this? Thanks in advance everyone!

I'm interested in Substance 3D programs and want to know if I can create an interactive 3D model that I can send electronically to a customer to view who doesn't have 3D software.
Hi all, I have previously owned a perpetual license for Substance Painter 2020 (6.2.2) purchased from the substance website. This 2020 license was aqcuired by updating it from on the 2018 license I have transfered from the steam version. Now I'm unable to download the perpetual license for the 2020 version since the old Allegorithmic website is done. I followed their instruction and sent on email to "allegorithmic-legacyaccount@adobe.com", but there is no response from them. I'd appraciate any help or advices. Thanks!
