I may be missunderstanding what AE is doing here, but it seems like a gradient on a path just doesn't transition that well/smoothly as I would expect. Infact, I might go as far as to say it's broken, there appears to be a ledge in AE that isn't there in other Adobe programs. This is in Illustrator: The same gradient in After Effects: Exactly the same colours and positions (albiet the angles might be slightly different). In AE note how the file colour is taking up approximatly 40% of the gradient, no matter how far I move the middle colour towards the final colour all it does is change the amount of space that the colour transition takes up, instead of making the space for the final colour smaller.Although both aren't finished, the Illustrator version is a lot closer to what I am attempting to do. Am I doing it wrong?I appreciate I might be able to achieve this a few different ways, this just seems the easiest way as I am animating the shape and eventually the gradie

Hello guys,   Do you have similar experience on encoding failure? How can you solve that? I have tried rendering in AE and in Media Encoder; in different format like h264 and quicktime. Even tried to render with another computer. Does anyone have the same problem?  🔽 I used to be able to use 3D models (a month ago) but now the draft 3D is deactivate 🔽  My laptop (a Lenovo) has 🔽   Just to be clear, I was able to use 3D models a few months ago, without problems but now I can't.Do I have the wrong settings? is my computer too weak? I'm trying to create a mogrt Template for the first time, following this tutorial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JOoAq_xnviw. Everything works fine in After Effects, but when I export it as a mogrt and import in Premiere, none of the properties that I set up via expression controls works, only those that I directly pulled from the layer into the Essential Graphics window. So when I have a shape layer, go into Content > Rectangle > Fill and drag that colour into the Essential Graphics window, I am able to change the colour in Premiere too. But when I put a "Fill" effect on the layer, as told in the tutorial, and pick whip that colour onto a "Color Control" Effect on a Null layer – I can change the colour via the Essential Graphics tab in After Effects just fine, but Premiere just ignores this. I have recently upgraded my PC and reinstalled the latest version of AE. I now don't have the menu option File > Scripts > Open Script Editor. Can anyone tell what I need to do to get in order to develop and debug scripts.Many thanks.

Hello. After much searching around the web, C++ SDK files, and documentation, I can only conclude that there doesn't seem to be any officially endorsed methods by Adobe for supporting listener/event-based communication between C++ plugins and CEP extensions (or even between C++ and ExtendScript for that matter). For CEP <-> ExtendScript, this is a solved problem using CSXS Events / PlugPlug.  However, for: C++ <-> CEP C++ <-> ExtendScript There is no native listener/event intercommunication system; at least, nothing in the SDK or any developer forums online seems to suggest so. From what I can gather, there appear to be at least four possible, but not ideal, options on the table: Grafting the Adobe Illustrator SDK code for the PlugPlug library into After Effects (Ref 1, Ref 2). This seems inconclusive / vaguely plausible at best, and a wild goose chase at worst. This seems like it could work on paper, but it reads like

Hello everyone,I'm currently using an Intel Arc A750 GPU with an Intel i5-13500F processor. I thought this would be a great combination, but I'm facing a lot of performance issues in Adobe applications.After Effects & Media Encoder: The GPU is not being fully utilized, even though I have enabled all necessary settings. Rendering times are unexpectedly long.Premiere Pro: Initially, it wasn’t working at all, but now it runs sometimes. However, I still face issues when importing files from After Effects.I have tried:✅ Setting GPU acceleration to OpenCL✅ Adding Adobe apps in Windows Graphics settings✅ Updating Intel Arc drivers & Adobe appsDespite all this, I still face performance issues. Does anyone have any recommendations on how to fix this? Any help would be appreciated!Thanks in advance.

I'm trying to warp only the word "close" to make it look like a pinch/squeeze, but whenever I add an effect it seems like it's still adding it to the original unmasked video. I've changed the anchor point to the mask, and if I precompose the mask it will do the same thing when I add an effect.

HiMy After Effects 2024 Mac not launching. I have unistalled, reinstalled, Done the Ctrl+Shift+Option when trying to open. Nothing seems to work. It gives me the following message: After Effects can't continue. Error while accessing the preference files inside /Users/Ldk/Library/Preferences/Adobe/After Effects/24.5. Please verify the permissions and try again. And then After Effects can't continue. An unexpected error has occured and After Effects will now shutdown.Please check you have the appropriate permissions to launch After Effects as well as read/write access to the After Effects preferences folder. Nothing seems to be working. Any advise available?

After Effects 2022The preview does not show a black screen if there is an empty space, but squares are shown. It's not convenient to work like this, what could be the problem? 

The Roto Brush Tool doesn't seem to work. I click on the roto brush at the top left, and when i move my cursor to the video or image it's still my normal cursor. It doesn't work or do anything. 

I can split a shape layer with Command+Shift+d. However, when I try to split a video layer, "greyed-out part" appears:   Is it possible to split a video layer without the "greyed-out part"? If not possible, is it possible to remove the "greyed-out part" after the split?This is very annoying for example because "Enable Time Remapping" creates keyframes at the very start and the very end of the current layer while respecting the "greyed-out part": 

Can't install stardust because my AE installed in unusual place on sector of my second hard drive. So can I just install it on my main hard drive and then replace installed folders to right place

Hello,i have a text layer with expressions, animators and transforms. This is in a subcomposition. I would like to copy this entire style or somehow apply it automatically to other text layers in other subcompositions without changing the content of theirs texts. I probably can't save this as a MOGRT and even if I could, I would have to rewrite each text layer manually, right? So it probably only works with scripts, but I don't know anything about them? Can someone help me?(In After Effects 2025)

So I have been trying to get my head around colour management for a long time and have read up on it quite a bit. I understand bit depth, profiles, gamma curves. I have a good monitor (Benq pd2700u) and have calibrated it. I had noticed a little banding on gradients in After Effects and thought this is usual for 8bit, maybe my monitor wasn't quite up to scratch. But I thought I'd try a little experiment and so made the same gradient in Blender and what do you know it had no banding. So I tried creating a 32 bit float project in after efffects with a gradient - exported it to exr and opened it in blender - it has banding. I've attached a screen shot and AE file. Could someone please help me to understand what is going on here.

So i recently got AE and i wanted to get twixtor so i went on RE vision and installed it but i dont want the red x on my screen so im trying to figure out how to unistall it, I have gone to  library-application support- adobe-common- and plug-ins does not appear, can anyone help??

Im trying to create a jsx file. I thought you did this out of the Adobe Extendscript Toolkit, which appears to no longer be available in the app manager. I changed the preferences to show older apps, still isnt showing up. Does anyone know what the issue is? Is there another way to create a jsx file?

hello. I bought After Effects, went to my personal account to download, and it tells me "Does not work on this device". My system: Ryzen 7 7800X3D , RTX 4070 ti super, 62 gb RAM and windows 11 pro (23H2)

I have six computers running the Adobe CC2019 suite.  They all exhibit this behavior. It started small and has become worse ever since. The problem:If i have a Photoshop file (.psd) in an After Effects 2019 project, then use "Edit Original" (CTRL-E) to have the file open in Photoshop for editing, I get the error..."After Effects error: cannot locate an application to open [file name].psd.   (1 :: 77)"Beyond that, when opening a .psd file from Windows 10 by double-clicking it, I will sometimes be asked by Windows what program I want to use to open it. I can choose Photoshop and check the box for "Always use this program for this filetype". But, moments later I will get the same prompt when opening another .psd file. I've also tried to set the default application for .psd files in Windows from the Default App Settings.  It currently says the "Windows Picture Viewer" is the default application for .psd files. Hi,I'm running after effects on a XPS 9710 17 i7 UHD 64 Gb ram,RTX 30602 Tb SSD Hard drive. The machine is clean, nothing else on the laptop apart from the adobe suit.I recently installed the latest after effects and dowloaded some footage to try out and I've experienced nothing but choppy footage. I've watched several hours of youtube videos and have played around with the setting in preference, adjusted acceleration and reduced resolution etc etc and nothing seems to work.I have an older MSI laptop with the same latest after effects on and strangely the footage runs smoothly on that machine so I compied over the the same setting in preferences and composition settings and still there's no change. I changed the file ext from Mp4 to mov but that has made no difference and none of the other video footage, avi's etc seem to work either.  The footage frame rate is at 25 as is the time line, no adjustment appears to make any difference.After several hours I'm at a loss here. Is it possible to import individual Compositions from a external .aep-Project?It is very easy to import a complete Project-Folder with  app.project.importFile(new ImportOptions(projectFile)); but what if i would like to iterate through the compositionsof the desired project, i.e. searching for a composition by a specific compositionName that will be imported to the project.  

Hi,I want a shape layer to take its position value from its  'skew' property. so I write expressions but its not working. I know am making some kind of mistakes as am still learning.  shape layer's (shadow of mountain)  X value should be fixed only Y will move according to skew. But no way its working. Please guide me. I tried manullay to animate the position value. but  no beauty in the movement. My eyes hurting seeing my own work 😠 please guide me. please.
