Im having issues with my After Effects, everytime I try to drag a keyframe to move it on any of my layers it simply will not let me. I've restarted the program and reset my preferences already and it hasn't fixed it.

I'm rendering multi-layer EXRs from Houdini and have a large number of LPE tag-split lighting passes. When I bring them into AE, only about 2/3 of the actual passes are showing up in EXtractoR. I know the AOVs are there--they show up fine in Nuke. The ones that do and don't show up seem arbitrary--some of the LPE-tagged passes show up, some don't. It's not an alphabetical issue--it's not just the last alphabetically showing up in the list. Why does EXtractoR not show all available passes? Is there a limit to how many it can accommodate and I just need to handle that part in Fusion or Resolve or somewhere else? ProEXR is no longer needed, right? Or is it?

I'm using a partial rotoscope in order to insert an image to blend in with the background I have in my footage. The subject moves around and the auto focus on the camera follows. Which means the background varies in blur. Currently my only way matching the blur of my inserted background to the footage is apply a gaussian blur and manually keyframe that effect to the background.Is there any way to track the blur of an object, or create a digital camera for it to match the focus and have the subject naturally follow?

I do a lot of work with .aep's that touch several different animators who have different preferences in how they have their columns set up in the timeline, and same with the preview settings. Some prefer to preview at half res with fast preview turned off, some prefer full res with fast preview on, etc. But these things are local settings that change per precomp, which means that every single time I dive into a precomp, I need to rearrange all of those things to work effectively.Is there a way, like workspaces, to just reset the entire layout, including columns and preview settings? A script or something like that?

Hi.I've been editing a new pfoject with after effects 25.1. It worked well, but now it has started crashing a lot, lagging, its so slow and won't do anything, it takes a long time to render the changes or it doesn't even render at all. That all started when i made roto brush to my video layer. It started to slow down a lot and took a lot of time to render that too.Now i can't edit cuz of that. I've tried to clear disk cache and change it, change RAM, CPU and GPU and stuff. And trying to edit with the quality on quater and more. None of these work.I need to get to edit again.

Hi!I've got a layer that I have exposed to media replacement in one of my mogrts. For some of the editors that use the graphic, they have this odd flicker that happens. It doesn't seem to happen on every export, but it's frequent enough that it is causing disruption.We're using the both Premiere Pro and After Effects 25.0 and are using Macs. example for context

It's crazy to me how CapCut it is so easy to do this, but I have not found a work around so the colorspace  from AE matches the footage from an Iphone 15.  Does anyone know how to render the IPhone 15 HDR footage in AE so that it somewhat resembles the original video?

Hello, i'm trying to link the luminosity variation in an overlay layer to make it match the luminosity variation in a reference layer. Anybody could show me the way to make this work ?  (the reference video is on the left and right is a photoshop layer. Hello, does anyone know how I can download After effects version 24.1? In my creative cloud there is no version other than 25.1, which is the current one. Please I need your help 😭😭😭😭😭

Hi,I made the unfortunate mistake of renaming the folders in a project I've been working on for the past few days on my computer. The project contains several AE-projects with Photoshop files with several layers/comps and using 3D-camera. I tried to undo the changes, but it was too late. Now, when I attempt to reload the footage (and here I just need to pick one random layer of the Photoshop-file like "Background.psd", since AE doesn't have the original "file" when you import retain layer sizes), not all layers respond. Each file is a composition with some pre-compositions and layers, using 3D-camera. The project involves numerous illustrations and different videos/projects. Is there an easier way to fix this?I would be very grateful for any help!

Hello everyone,I have been experiencing AE crashes for about 6 months now.On a desktop PC, the crashes are as follows.When I am working on ready-made AE or just a MP4 or MOV file, it shuts down or blue screens.The same project file works fine on another Windows or MacOs system.The measures I took are as follows: I changed the video card, I changed the RAM, I cleaned and reinstalled AE, I even formatted Windows twice, reinstalled windows, cleaned and reinstalled AE many times.I tried disabling all plugins. I did not use 3rd party plugins.The errors that appear change every time.I tried old version AE.I have tried all the above methods but the problem still persists.Help please. Thank you in advance.

Hello. I have a Mac Studio M1 Max with 500GB of storage. I use After Effects and Premiere Pro, but since my computer’s storage is full, I want to work on my projects through an external SSD. What read/write speed should the SSD have to make this possible? If anyone has information or suggestions, I’d greatly appreciate your help.” Let me know if you’d like any adjustments!

Everything was as usual))) then something happened and when I click render in the render queue the view jumps to the timeline tab which is rendering and I can't see the processes in the render queue tab (( I can't stop rendering (what to do ? where to look ? maybe i accidentally pressed some key combination ?

Hello there,I have two projects which crashes when playing them or when just loading them. These projects used to play correctly last year (May 2018). Meanwhile, AE have upgraded. However, when loading the project, I have a message saying that the project is being converted.The crash error says the follow :Last log message was: <123145502593024> <DBSync> <5> BEE_ThreadedRenderUpdateQueue::Render_DeserializeFullProject ZANZIBAR-2: old=00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000, new=7ba573c4-775a-40c9-b7ee-bc14e58dcf8d, new-ts=108702I don't know what to do to resolve this issue. Hi everyone, I work as an After Effects specialist editor for an agency, and we collaborate with various companies and websites to deliver high-quality projects. Recently, we were tasked with creating a news-style promotional video for a site called https://influencersgonewild.news/. The project involved integrating dynamic text animations, stock footage, and a custom animated lower third template. Everything seemed fine during editing, but here's the weird issue: Whenever I render the final video (whether in H.264, ProRes, or even uncompressed formats), the audio lags by exactly 1.2 seconds in the output file. The timeline and playback within After Effects are perfectly in sync, and there are no pre-render warnings or issues with the audio layer settings. Steps I’ve tried so far: Checked the audio sampling rate (44.1 kHz vs. 48 kHz).Cleared the cache and restarted both the project and After Effects.Updated to the latest version of After Effects (2024).Rendered

I am using After effects 2022 and recently attached the saber effect but it not giving me a preview in the view window. 

After Effects crashes as soon as I turn on Depth of field in the camera settings. Not sure if this will help but this is the error log that I recieved in the most recent crash. 

I am using the "wiggle" expression on Position to create a film jitter effect.  How can I map a blur to the position of the layer, so that it blurs in relation to the movement caused by that jitter? I'm not looking to blur the images in the footage based on their 'motion' (ie - the baseball flies across the screen - I'm not looking to blue that) but just a motion blur based on the movement of the whole frame.

Hello, I want to create a checkerboard pattern in After Effects and project it onto a cove (cyclorama) using a projector. The cove already has a checkerboard pattern. The goal is to later animate the projection of the checkerboard pattern and create a hallucinatory effect when viewed.Creating the checkerboard pattern and animating it later is no problem. However, I’m unsure how to best align the projected pattern onto the cove so that it matches the existing pattern. How would you approach this?

Hi everyone! I'm a newbie AE plugin developer, and I would like someone to shed some light on some confusing things for me. I'm developing a plugin where the user chooses a layer from the composition via UI dropdown. The layer is then checked with PF_CHECKOUT_PARAM before my custom function. I use new_world to reduce the resolution/size so that when I finally use transform_world in my custom function (which is in a loop), it doesn't have to iterate over all the input pixels. (I hope I was clear enough about this and that this is the correct way to go about things.)In my custom function, I need to PF_CHECKOUT_PARAM again for every iteration (the plugin basically repeats the input, something like motion blur) and access in_data->current_time and similar data. The issue is, I need transform_world to use PF_LayerDef since I'm working with the scaled-down layer from new_world, but I also need to use PF_ParamDef from the layer to get current_time, time_step, etc. The only solution I
