In order to optimize storage space I convert pictures from NEF to DNG. Unfortunately the Adobe DNG Converter is almost unusable. The software works fine on older PCs with four core processors. On my newer PC with 8 cores and 16 threads it is impossible to use. It seems like a memory problem. Sometimes it works but most of the time it renders the whole PC unusable, often crashes Windoes Explorer. Even restarts won’t solve the tangled up DNG Converter. Frustrating.
I’m reaching out to the community for assistance with an issue in Adobe Camera Raw that keeps recurring.Quite often, when I attempt to create a mask, I receive the following error message:“There was an unexpected error and your request could not be completed.”Immediately afterwards, a second message appears:“The graphics processor has encountered an unrecoverable error. Due to a run‑time error, GPU acceleration has been disabled for the remainder of the session.”This behaviour is now happening frequently, and it interrupts my workflow every time masking is required. If anyone could point me toward reliable guidance, known fixes, or relevant Adobe documentation, I would be very grateful.Thank you in advance for your support.
the file from the R8 work fine but the file from R5 has this problem
The lens profile for the Tamron 35-150 f2-2.8 for Sony is not compatible with the Tamron 35-150 f2-2.8 for Nikon Z due to incompatible distortion.
At the moment I don’t shoot in raw and do not want Photoshop to open in Camera Raw. I have tried the various suggestions and rebooted both photoshop and my Mac laptop but it still opens my jpeg files in Camera Raw. Any suggestions on how I can top Photoshop opening in Camera Raw would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Hello everyone, I recognized a strange behaviour in Camera RAW. I opened Photoshop, then opened about 20 RAW files waiting for Camera RAW to load. So it does. I start working in CR, but after a few minutes CR is getting very laggy, my mouse pointer is sometimes freezing, and every change, for example exposure or any other parameter, leads into a delayed output for about 5 or 6 seconds. A smooth working is not possible anymore. So I made some tests. It doesn't matter if I open just one oder 50 RAW files, always the same. I figured out that this behaviour first occures when I use AI masking for automatically choosing the background or the main object in my picture. As soon as I choose a mask with AI feature, I see that my RAM is slowly filling up until it is completely used. From this point, the described delays happen. I have Windows 10, 32 GB RAM (should be enough, at least for one RAW file?), Ryzen 7600X and Geforce 4070S. I don't know when this started, becau
Please can someone explain the changes to the crop tool in Camera Raw (18.3)?When using the gemoetry options I cannot crop to the edge of the image no matter what I do - this was no problem before. When the crop area is maximised, the crop tool no longer drags the cropped area, it only draws a new area to crop. This is incredibly frustrating. Please can someone tell me how to get the legacy crop tool back? This wasn’t included in any “What’s New” content I have seen.
In building a python library to write and render DNG files (https://github.com/mu-files/mu-image/tree/main/muimg) we noticed that 10bit raw data is handled inconsistently between uncompressed DNG and JXL DNG.In the DNG SDK: - For uncompressed data - 10bit data is packed in the tiff ifd, then gets unpacked in the decoder and goes through the DNG renderer as values in the lower 10 lower bits of a 16 bit buffer.- For the JXL path, our initial attempt was to tell the JXL encoder to store 10 bit data. The inconsistency we ran into is that the DNG SDK code requests this bitstream as JXL_BIT_DEPTH_FROM_PIXEL_FORMAT - which tells the JXL decoder to shift the 10bit data up to the full 16 bit depth of the buffer being used.So from the DNG encoder side we cannot treat 10 bit data the same if it is being encoded as uncompressed or as JXL. If the DNG SDK code requested the data from jxl decoder using JXL_BIT_DEPTH_FROM_CODESTREAM then the decoder would return the 10bit data that the encoder intende
using bridge to adobe camera raw and edit going to photoshop using open as object does not carry the file location with it as it does with just open. If this would be correct it would appreciate it as I use this feature. It would be helpful as well having the selection to open and open as object to until changed in other edits.
I've been looking to test out the new dust removal feature in Camera Raw and couldn't find it. Turns out, the entire "Distraction Removal" section is missing from my Camera Raw app. I've gone into settings and enabled "New AI features" as directed in many instructional guides. Restarted Photoshop, and it's still not present. I even tried downloading the latest Photoshop beta (26.11), and I don't have this section at all. What am I doing wrong? I've screenshot the relevant sections for visual aid. Versions:Photoshop 26.9Windows 11 24H2Snapdragon X Elite PC
My remove tool stopped removing objects. I have tried generative remove and plain remove. Neither work. For instance, I am editing a photo of a baseball catcher making a throw. Off in the distance past the outfield fence is a school bus. I am trying to remove it, but when the remove tool is used, it does nothing. It highlights the area and looks like it is doing something, but it makes no changes. Previously, prior to a couple of days ago, it was working fine. What happened?

In the latest veersion of ACR, the ability to mask subject/background etc has gone wrong. Particularly object masking. It has completely gone to unusable. It slects wrong things, Slects too Little and wont allow adding etc. It has completely changed in quality to the point I can no longer use it. I am stuck using only brush or gradient mask at best
When I'm using RAW images for editing, I typically load 10-20 images in Camera Raw. When I try to use AI-related features like AI masking, I receive the following error message:"The graphics processor has encountered an unrecoverable error.Due to a run-time error, GPU acceleration has been disabled for the remainder of the session."I have tried all the methods mentioned in forums for months, almost 6 months now. Currently, I cannot even edit a single photo if the preset is slightly heavy with AI tools such as subject selection or background selection.I have taken the following steps to try to resolve the issue:Updated the BIOS.Performed a clean installation of Windows.Conducted a driver cleanup.Updated drivers to the latest versions.Reinstalled Adobe apps.Tried using a previous version of Camera Raw (version 14.x).Used only Adobe default settings (without my own presets).Experimented with all combinations of graphic acceleration settings.Logged into a new admin user account.Had an Adob
As seen on the screen recording added to this post, my raw files are automatically getting more contrast and colour as they are loaded into Adobe Bridge… Anyone else have this problem? And how do I fix it? I would love the images to stay neutral until I edit them.
The new masking selection tools in Camera Raw are great, but It would be much better if Camera Raw had a feather effect tool in the masking section. Because after masking, a thin, white line appears around the object that looks awful.
I know it wasn’t the wisest thing to do, but I didn’t have a chance to change filters or lenses.I was walking through an airport’s departure hall and took a picture of the apron through a large glass window pane. Because I still had my polarization filter on the lens, blotches appeared throughout the pictures, in addition to light reflecting from within the hall. I tried using the removal tool (reflections), but the result was very disappointing. There was hardly a difference noticeable. Was this just too much for the app?If anyone has a good idea on how to eliminate the blotches efficiently and effectively, I’m sure interested. I am on macOS 26.3.1 using Photoshop (27.4.0), Lightroom (15.2.1), and Camera Raw (18.2.2).Thanks for any help.Tom
"The Camera Raw settings could not be applied because there were no Camera Raw files selected or selected files were read-only" This keeps appearing when I try to open photos to camera raw. The weird thing is it's only for this one photo session. Any ideas what it means? I'm able to bipass it by going to edit the photos in photoshop, but its a hassle cause I'm editing a whole wedding. Any thoughts?
Hi there, I was playing with DNG conversion of my NEF files to save space but I noticed this thing: opening the original NEF file with MacOS’s preview and then launching the Inspector tool (cmd+I) I have a “Picture Style” tab that contains informations about the colour space used in the camera settings. If I convert that NEF files to DNG, the “picture Style” tab has gone … and, with it, the pieces of information that were there. so when converting to DNG with ACR DNG converter why those informations are gone? and how to preserve them?
I shoot RAW with a Nikon P1100.Ninety-nine percent of my photos are of birds. I use the latest versions of Adobe Camera RAW and Photoshop to edit the photos on my Windows 11 laptop. I do as much of the work as possible in ACR, mostly with subject masks. I export the highest quality (12) JPGs as the final product.Until recently, I had always used either the Adaptive Color, Adobe Color, or Adobe Standard profiles as an editing base. I just discovered Camera Neutral, which is much better, I assume because it is tuned to my camera model, which ACR detects. I spend a lot of time editing my photos and am very obsessive, as I compare slider changes in increments of one. With this in mind, if I make a custom DCP profile from a color calibration chart, would this make the editing job even easier and allow me to make better JPGs, or would it be a waste of money, since it would not improve on the built-in camera neutral profile?
This post applies to Camera Raw. Feedback for Lightroom Classic and Lightroom Desktop should be posted here. Update February 2025:Adobe has introduced two Adaptive Profiles – Adaptive Color & Adaptive B&W. Getting started with the Adaptive Profiles: Access a profile inside the profile favorites menu. In addition, there is a new section for Adaptive Profiles in the Profiles browser. Enable the profile and adjust the ‘Amount’ slider as desired. Use the rest of the Camera Raw tools just like you would otherwise. Check out the Help Page for more detailed usage information. For more technical information on the underlying technology, please refer to this blog post. Please try the profiles and share feedback in this community forum thread. It would help to include details like how you access Camera Raw (via Adobe Bridge or Photoshop), your computer system details, and as much information as poss
I see solutions for prior versions. I’m trying to uninstall the latest Camera Raw (18.2) because it is supposedly a workaround-fix to allow the prior version of Photoshop to open WEBP images like it did just few days ago. Every solution I have found suggests to click the 3 dots next to Camera Raw in the Creative Cloud desktop app, but those dots do not appear next to Camera Raw. I also could not find the file within the Adobe CC Suite in Finder. I do not have “Bridge” installed either.I went through the trouble of completely uninstalling Photoshop to try and remove Camera Raw, but no luck. Appreciate anyone who can provide factual information with clear steps.Thanks.
I have programs that generate full size DNG files, and I would like to use the stand alone version of Adobe DNG Converter to compress those files and then overwrite the original DNG to save on additional steps. I believe that is an option within Lightroom but I don’t see that capability within the stand alone app.I understand the risks associated with overwriting originals, but this a unique need for my workflow.DNG Converter 18.2.0.2482 on Windows 11.Many thanks.
Windows 11 laptop – latest Photoshop and Camera Raw versions (rolling back three versions did not resolve the issue).I open Nikon NRW files produced by a Nikon P1100. The problem began roughly a week ago. I have been using the same profiles for years without encountering this issue. The behavior occurs with some, but not all, RAW files. When I select Adobe Color, Adobe Standard, or Adobe Vivid and apply Auto, parts of the subject develop blue artifacts. In the attached example, the artifact appears on part of a bird. In other cases, the entire bird may turn blue. Sometimes the artifacts appear along small tree branches or outlines of foliage. The artifacts are always blue.Notably, this issue does not occur when using the Adaptive Color profile.Troubleshooting performed: In Photoshop → Edit → Preferences → Performance, I disabled “Use Graphics Processor.” This did not resolve the issue. I toggled between the Photos and Web UI design workspace settings. I rolled back several versions o
