At work we currently are using Framemaker 11 (I know) and Framescript 6. We have been talking about finally upgrading to the newest version of both programs, but we have some concerns. We have several framescripts that we use daily when we make our manuals and they have been working perfectly for years. We are concerned that the switch will cause issues with the functionality of our scripts. Has anyone experienced issues with older framescripts no longer working correctly when upgrading? 

Greetings, I've spend waaaaayy to much time trying to open two old .FM documents.  I don't know if they are FileMaker or FrameMaker.    I've downloaded free trials but still stumped.  If you can open it and provide PDFs I will pay $25 via Paypal.  I prefer to work through private message or email not post it on here. Thank you for you time,S

Dear all, Digging through the FDK documentation and a list of commands generted from the app object, I come across terms that are not explained anywhere. What is/are: Key Catalog commands ThemeLoad, ThemeSave ("theme" does not exist in FDK reference) commands ShowNextKit, ShowPrevKit (there are "rmkits" connected to DITA, but kit?) command WinSlavics (has same ESC sequence with ShowNextKit and ShowPrevKit) Any enlightment possible?

I asked this a couple of years back and was curious as to know if this can (will) be added to potential future versions of FrameMaker?ex: 1-001 to 1-025, 2-001 to 2-370, 3-001 to 3-500, 4-001... etc.[where the first value is the section (or chapter) and the 3 remaining digits represent a counter of files in that section] 

When I use FM2019 to generate Responsible HTML5, I usually have one html page per chapter (.fm file.) But a couple of the html pages become far too big, so I have decided to break them into several html pages. I made a copy of a heading paragraph style, which I use to control if a heading should be on a new html page. This works pretty fine, I get several html pages when used in one of these big chapters.   But one thing troubles me, the navigation panel doesn't look the way I want to.   If I have this "new html page" paragraph style for all headings in a chapter, it looks like: I.e each heading gets its own entry in the navigation panel - not what I want.   However, if I replace the last instance of the "new html page" paragraph style with the regular (no new html page) heading paragraph style, the navigation panel suddenly looks the way I want it:     Where I can click the Chapter title to expand and list the contents:     How can I keep this beh

Hello!I faced with a problem and tried many variants, but nothing works. I hope you'll help me.Our colleagues from Germany sent me a folder with .mif content and reference images (EPS-format) and I should change the content. When I open the book in Framemaker, the file cannot find the path to the folder with images and I manually indicate the path to each image.Then the following message appears: "Cannot display imported graphics. The images will appear as grey boxes". WHY?I tried many variants to solve this problem, but the result is the same.Maybe someone faced with the similar problem? Thank you ahead of time for your support! 

I'm looking to findout what causes this and how can i mitigate such errors. Any Ideas? I'm not the only one with this problem... 

Is it possible to autonumber headings in the format <Text><AutoNumber><Text>, e.g. Step 12: Issue Notices.I know Autonumbering can be used, but that only allow for the number to be prefix, e.g. 12. Issue Notices and that I can set up the Autonumbering to include 'Step', however, the heading may not be Step #, it could be Appendix # instead. Creating different Heading elements is not ideal. I could use Attributes. (I find it annoying that there isn't an option to surpress the prompt to optional Attributes and only show the prompt for required Attributes. Not to mention that you can't set a default attribute value for text-type Attributes. But that's just my opinion.)Is there a way to set up the Autonumbering to insert the number at a specific position, rather than first?

Hi to all,I need help over the "Doc.GenerateQrCode()" function already present in Framemaker to create QR codes for my documents. The problem is that there's no documentation about it. I googled it, but found no documentation nor instructions. Neither in the Adobe Framemaker Scripting Guide there's nothing.I'm writing to ask if someone knows, or has any idea, how to use this function correctly in extended script. Thank you very much!

I have a project now to build a new AMM, IPC manual set for a B747-400. I would like to find existing DTDs, schemas, or FrameMaker EDDs for these types of manuals. Any pointers would be appreciated. Thank you.

Currently working on updating 20+ Microsoft HTML help files (chm) for a premium product and have hit a problem with the Chm production and files I’m updating.   Note: The files I’m updating, are in Adobe FrameMaker [AFM] 2017 (Version: 14.0.4.511) on a Windows 10 fully patched OS and the remaining unrevised are/were created in FM12. My revised chms when completed and included into the build, i.e. the applications online help folder to test – fail to work, the hyperlinks (Hypertext Hrefs) don’t work and the default MS HTML Help "Cant reach this Page" is displayed. To clarify, selecting a link from an unchanged Book/Chm to a topic in one of the revised chms does not work – existing book to book links do. (Thus indicating my revised Chms are wonky..). Initial investigation in the FM source indicated the incorrect application of Hypertext links, to other Eurotherm chms - strictly speaking (or my OCD ishh) should’ve been a Cross reference not a Hypertext_message URL ms-i

Beim Starten von FrameMaker 2017 erscheint der normale Begrüßungsbildschirm nur kurz und wird dann durch die Anzeige der (ich glaube) Marketingpage vollständig überdeckt. Wie kann ich diese ausschalten oder wenigstens wieder kleiner darstellen? Den Tipp die HTML-Code zu modifizieren habe ich schon getestet. Startet man die modifizierte Seite direkt von der HTML-Datzei aus, dann ist das auch in Ordnung. Startet man aber den FrameMaker, dann ist die ungewollte Seite wieder da. ich weiß nicht weiter.

i newly started using framemaker 2020 on windows after working with an old framemaker version on solaris so far.i'm actually drawing my first picture in an anchored frame of an fm2020 document which starts as a nightmare:whenever adding or moving a line, or copying a group of lines or text, this is either not shown at all after drawing or  pasting, or shown in a wrong position, or complete nonsense is shown. so i always need to change zoom level to see the actual drawing, i.e. to update the display.i don't think that this is expected to be like that. is there a bug in the actual version of fm2020 or do i need to add or change some configuration?see examples attached.

I have tried publishing a book to Responsive HTML5, and each time I get the "serious internal error" message. I am using an .sts file that we used in FM2015, but I clicked yes when FM 2020 asked about updating it. Has anyone else experienced this?

When I perform a search in the HTML5 output, results that point to the top-level topics display the filename and path rather than the topic name. Other search results (for secondary topics) display the topic title just fine. I am publishing HTML5 output from FrameMaker 2015.

I have had to resolve a problem with a document that would cause FramerMaker to crash when either the book was updated or validated.The document was originally in 2019 MIF format with a .fm extension. The evidence of the corruption was visible after the following steps:Opening document in 2019 MIF format and save as a 2019 document.Close the document and re-open, and then save in 2019 MIF format. 2019 with update 8 crashed with a 15084 error, while 2020 (2020 MIF format) with update 1 crashed with a 16014 error.Deleting the content of the document, but not any master pages, made no difference.The only wrinkle was that, when the document was not closed after it was saved in 2019 document format, FrameMaker would not crash, when the document was subsequently saved in MIF format. The resolution in this case was to start with an empty template, copy the content across from the mif, set any variables, and replace the document. This new document could then be saved in 2019 MIF format wi

Hi,    I am trying to use the Frame Below Pgf function to add a border line beneath a header. I'm using a custom template provided to me by another writer on my team. I don't see an option for Single Line. In a blank FrameMaker document I do see that option.    Any suggestions?  Thanks     

Hi,I have FM 12.0.3.424.Does anyone know how to create a horizontal line under heading text that is the width of the page?  Similar to creating a border but without the top and sides.Is it even possible?thank you in advance!

I am developing a program that links FrameMaker using FDK.The DLL file is being created.When connecting FrameMaker 2020, the button turns black as shown in the figure.Please tell me the cause.

I receive documents made from framemaker 16 and saved as .fm when I go to open them on mine with version 11 it tells me ...appears to be a Framemaker document, it can't be opened with this release of product... is there a way to open such document without telling the person to safe it as .MIF Your help is very appreciated.

If there is a file open, you can open another "corrupted" file by using Heroic open (ESC o H). I have discovered a very very useful function of this command: open a file which is to high a level for the current FM.I currently have severe problems with FM-16.0.0.754: as soon as the file explorer becomes involved, FM quits without further notice (no message, no dump, no sound, no grunt…). See bug FRMAKER-9277.Hence I could not save my work done in FM-16 to the lower level to continue with FM-15.But then...I opened the FM-16 file in my text editor and changed the <MakerFile 16.0> at the very beginning of the file to <MakerFile 15.0>. Of course this violates the checksum - hence the file is considered corrupted.But alas; it can be opened in FM-15 with Heroic Open!Good save the Queen! - or better: the programmer who had programmed this feature!

Good morning I am trying to update my installation of FrameMaker 2017 with the Adobe Application Manager via the Help > Updates menu. The update begins at proceeds to around 10% at which point I get the "Update Failed" message. The link to the log file comes up with the "This site can’t be reached" message. I am running Windows 11 Pro (64-bit) version 21H2. Thanks in advance for any advice.
